THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CCCL

The Arrival of Periwinkle & Another Kitty

Stinky waits by the teleportation tunnel for Periwinkle. She is always punctual, so he knows he won’t have to wait long. Moments later, the teleportation tunnel begins to vibrate. Periwinkle tumbles out with the familiar whoosh. Before Stinky can set her upright, Noelle tumbles out behind her. Periwinkle is only slightly surprised to see her.

“Stinky, I was fairly certain I knew what you had planned for today, but now that I see Noelle, I know I am right.”

“Well, you are a really smart kitty, so I am not surprised you figured it out. We will be celebrating the anniversary of Angel Sawyer’s second Gotcha Day … the day that our Mom rescued him from his three-and-a-half week walkabout.”

“I am happy that you continue to remember that all important day when Sawyer came home. It truly was a miracle and a relief that he was unharmed,” states Noelle.

“Mom said we could do something today we have not done in the past.”

“Oh, I love a surprise, what is it?” asks Periwinkle.

Giveaway

“We are going to give away two copies of Purrseverance. The winners will be able to read Sawyer’s story as well as that of many of their other friends.”

“That is a super idea. What will readers need to do to win?”

“Just leave a comment on this post before midnight ET on Friday. Mom will use Random.org to select the winners.”

“I know this is a special day for another reason as well,“ says Periwinkle.

“That’s right, it is the fourteenth blogoversary of The Cat on My Head.”

Reminiscing

“It really is a strange coincidence that your mom brought Sawyer home on the anniversary of the blog,” replies Periwinkle.

“I know, and that is not the only unusual occurrence. The person who found Sawyer and snapped his photo lived in the house where Mom and Dad adopted their first kitty, Skooter. A friend of Mom’s lived there in the 80s.”

“He was obviously meant to come home. It is just too bad it took so long,” says Periwinkle.

“I know. That was extra time we all would have loved to have had with him. Mom thinks about him constantly and how much joy and sorrow he brought to our family.”

“So, what are we going to do today besides the give away?”

“That is a very good question?” As Sawyer’s birthday was just three weeks ago, Mom did a post for him then,” replies Stinky.

“Yes, but that was a party. She hasn’t shared photos since she let everyone know he went to the Rainbow Bridge,” interjects Noelle.

“She’s right, Stinky. We should find some photos your mom didn’t share back then, and make a couple more scrapbook pages for him.”

Scrapbooking

“Sure, we are really good at that. I will gather the supplies.”

After Stinky gathers what they need, the three cats get busy selecting some photos. “Lots of these, I don’t remember,” declares Stinky.

“He was such a cutie pie,” says Noelle with a tear in her eye.

“Indeed he was,” agrees Stinky and adds, “We all used to giggle at him when he looked like he was hopping like a bunny. Being a Manx cat, his back legs were longer than his front. Mom says, when she pictures him in her mind, most times that is how she sees him. She thinks his tailless butt was super cute.”

“I’ll agree with that,” says Noelle with a giggle.

“Noelle, I think you should be the first to share the page you made,” says Periwinkle.

“Thanks, I would like to go first. I miss Sawyer so very much.”

“That is so sweet, Noelle,” exclaims Periwinkle as she gives Noelle a hug. “Stinky, is it okay if I go next?”

“Of course.”

“That’s beautiful, Periwinkle,” Stinky says. “I guess it is my turn.”

“I am feeling very sad, now,” states Noelle.

“Oh, I think we all are,” Periwinkle tells her.

“I think I can cheer us all up. Cooper Murphy has baked some cakes—one in memory of Angel Sawyer and one to celebrate the blog’s 14th anniversary. We have beverages to share as well,” Stinky tells Periwinkle and Noelle.

A Celebration Cake and a Remembrance Cake

“As usual, Cooper Murphy has outdone himself,” Noelle exclaims.

“Let’s get all my fursibs together to celebrate the blogoversary and remember Sawyer. He was special, and I know we all wish he was still with us,” suggests Periwinkle.

Stinky goes in search of all the Kitties Blue and they join he, Noelle and Periwinkle for some cake, beverages and a group photo.

Finally, it is time for Noelle and Periwinkle to head home. Noelle thanks Stinky for including her in the remembrance for Angel Sawyer and the blogoversary celebration. She then heads into the teleportation tunnel for the trip home so Periwinkle and Stinky can spend some time together.

The two tabbies spend several minutes paw hugging, whisker kissing, and saying, “I love you,” to each other.  Then Periwinkle enters the teleportation tunnel and with a wave and blown kiss is gone in a whoosh.

Stinky heads to the kitchen to clean up their craft supplies and then finds a nice sunpuddle for a nap and dreams of Periwinkle.

The End

The tabbies, all the Kitties Blue and Noelle will be joining the Happy Tuesday blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. If you would like to do the same, click on the Happy badge.

TWO AMEOWZING ANNIVERSARIES

Our 13th Blogiversary

When the Kitties Blue and I set out on this amazing blogging adventure, we had no idea we would still be at it thirteen years later. That is longer than I held any paying job during my time as a worker bee. Maybe this endeavor has endured, as I have no one to answer to except the cats and those of you who visit and read our posts.

The Kitties

When this all began, Dad Tom and I were the human parents to seven cats: Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Astrid, Lisbeth, Giulietta and Fiona. Calista Jo joined us just three months later. Eight cats had come before this group, and Lily Olivia had known all but one of those. She continued to be the bridge between that group and the group that became known as Kitties Blue.

Fiona gained her angel wings in 2016 at just six years old, but the following year two more cats joined the group, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer, bringing our household to a total of nine demanding cats and two human servants. Unfortunately Lily Olivia left us in January of 2018. As the years went by we would also lose Giulietta, Mau and Misty May. And Kizmet, Raleigh and Audrey would join us. (If you are unfamiliar with any of our kitties past or present, check out The Felines page.)

So here we sit with eight Kitties Blue on this 13th blogoversary. During those years, Astrid and Mau would find and marry their soulmates, Sampy (also now an angel) and Allie (an angel along with Mau).

Periwinkle & Stinky

Logo for the Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky with two cartoon tabby cats.On October 8, 2019, I created and introduced two cartoon cats, Stinky and Periwinkle (the alter egos of Sawyer and his girlfriend Noelle [Friends Furever]), as we didn’t have enough cats to deal with already. Periwinkle/Noelle’s Mom Sharon and I began collaborating and sharing “The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky,” on alternate Tuesdays. Those crazy adventurous tabbies have been awarded numerous Certificates of Excellence from the Cat Writers’ Association. Tomorrow, they will share their 298th adventure right here.

Some Other Accomplishments

🐈 Just a couple of other facts before we move on. I began the Sunday Selfies blog hop on August 17, 2014, and yesterday was its 570th week.Cat Writers' Association Muse Medallion

🐈‍⬛ This is our 3,884th post.

🐾 And last October, The Cat on My Head received the Muse Medallion as Best Entertainment blog for 2023.

In celebration of this 13-year milestone, we will be having a giveaway, but more about that later.

Sawyer’s Second Gotcha Day Anniversary

Grey Manx tabby cat, Sawyer, returns from his walkabout.Sometimes events in our universe align themselves purrfectly, and that is what happened on July 21, 2021, when I brought Sawyer home after his three-and-a-half week walkabout. Sawyer found an opportunity to escape from the house on June 26. During the time he was missing, he managed to travel .9 miles from home and end up at the exact house from where Dad Tom and I adopted our very first cat, Skooter, in the mid-80s. So, we now celebrate two anniversaries every July 21st.

(If you are unfamiliar with the story of Sawyer’s walkabout and homecoming, you can read it in the book, Purrseverance, where it is published under the title, “Sawyer: The Lucky Cat.” (Check our sidebar for additional information.)

In celebration of this anniversary, we will be having a second giveaway.

Party Time

With all this talk about celebrating, I guess it is time to get down to it. When Mauricio was alive he became the official baker at Cat Scouts as well as for our blog. After Cooper Murphy joined Cat Scouts, Mau began teaching him the art of baking. When Mau became an angel, Cooper took over the baking responsibilities full-time. As we are celebrating two important occasions, Coop baked two cakes for today.

Anniversary Cake with four tiers and 10 cats.

Gotcha Day Anniversary cake with three tiers, stars and a grey tabby cat on the top.

We also have an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet as well as beverages and everyone’s favorite nip ice cream.

Seafood buffet

Beverages and ice cream.

Please enjoy and stay as long as you like.

Giveaway

To commemorate today, we are going to have a giveaway with three separate prizes. Each will have a little gift for the human and one for the cat(s) [or two for the human if the winner(s) does not share their home with a kitty]. To be entered, you only need to leave a comment on this post prior to noon on Thursday, July 24. Kitties Blue will use Random.org to select the three winners and announce the names on Friday.

What’s Coming Up

As mentioned earlier in this post, Periwinkle & Stinky will be here tomorrow sharing their next adventure. Then on Wednesday we will be celebrating another anniversary. It will be Angels Allie and Mau’s Ninth Wedding anniversary. Thursday will be our day for poetry and thankfuls. For Feline Friday, I plan to share news from this year’s roundup.

Awww Mondays

I had planned to share a Spark today, but will save it for next week. The kitties, however, will be participating in the Awww Mondays blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. To join our gang there, click on the Awww badge.

Thank you so much for celebrating with us today. Without those of you who visit and comment on our posts, Kitties Blue and I would have no reason to be here.

CELEBRATION DAY TIMES TWO

Sunday Selfies: Week #518

Today we are celebrating two momentous events…our 12th blogoversay and Sawyer’s return to his rightful place among the Kitties Blue crew. The first milestone is not nearly as significant as the second. I get on-line and type out some inane twaddle to accompany cute photos of felines. None of that is necessary. We all know you come for the photos, except for maybe on alternate Tuesdays to check in on Periwinkle and Stinky.

So today, I will concentrate on your Selfie host, Sawyer.

Portrait of a grey tabby cat in a frame.

Getting Sawyer Home

Most of you know that Sawyer took himself on an unauthorized walkabout during June and July of 2021. And most of you know the panic and loss Dad Tom and I felt. So, this is but a small recap from that event.

As days slipped into weeks, the odds of getting Sawyer home stacked up against us—his seizure disorder, the fact that he changed directions from the one he was heading in when he left the house and very hot weather. We concentrated our search in the several blocks around our house but mostly in the direction he’d been heading. That was mostly a waste of energy, except for the flyers we left at every house and attached to every telephone pole.  Those flyers, a large “Lost Cat” yard sign, social media, your prayers and an outright miracle got the boy home after three and a half weeks.

He had traveled nearly a mile across many neighborhood streets and one very busy main street and ended up in the yard of the house where our very first cat, Skooter, was born and from where we adopted him. The resident took Sawyer’s photo and posted it on a neighborhood forum we were unaware existed. A neighbor we didn’t know had received a flyer and seen our yard sign and recognized our boy. She called me on her way out of the house to help in the retrieval. It was already starting to get dark, and Sawyer was no where in sight when Dad Tom and I arrived; though, he had been spotted just minutes earlier.

The Vigil

That’s when the vigil began. Dad Tom returned home for provisions, stinky goodness, treats, a flashlight, PTU and towels, He brought them to me along with his bike so he could return home. I set out food at intervals along the sidewalk and set up camp. Eventually a little grey, tailless, tabby cat began sneaking out from the shadows to grab a nibble of food and then run off again. This went on for a couple of hours until he finally got close enough that I was able to follow him whenever he sprinted away. I tracked him through several yards. At one point he headed for that busy street but then thankfully retreated to the safety of the houses.

I stalked that little stinker for close to four hours. Finally, he went up some steps to a porch he couldn’t access. And the railing for the steps were too small for him to fit through. He was trapped, and I was able to grab him and wrap him in my t-shirt. Except for all the bites and scratches he rained down on me, the rest is history.

Sawyer has never tried another escape since the day he came back home. Guess he realized he has it pretty good here.

Giveaway

Sawyer asked if we could have a giveaway for Purrserverance, where you can read his full story. Of course, I will give that boy anything (except permission to go on another walkabout). To have the opportunity to win a copy, simply leave a comment on this post prior to midnight Friday, July 26. One winner will be selected through a random drawing.

Comment-a-thon

In honor of our 12th anniversary, we will be having a Comment-a-thon as well. If you leave a comment before that same deadline, I will donate $1 per comment to the shelter/rescue chosen by the individual selected through another random drawing. One comment enters you in both drawings, but you can only win one.

Time to Celebrate

Please join us for some cake, lemonade and champagne to celebrate this big day.

A Message from P & S

Before we hop, Periwinkle & Stinky would like to remind you they will be adventuring from here on Tuesday. And if you think today is a big deal, their next adventure will be out of this world. We know that only a few of you join our tabbies on their adventures, but this truly will be one you don’t want to miss. Please, don’t let these two down.

Hopping Time

Bet you thought we would never reach this point in the post. But it is here now. Time for you to add your selfie to our hop. You know we look forward to seeing your bright and shiny faces each week. And please feel free to bring along any friends you think might like to join the party. As always, the hop will be open through Thursday if you have other plans today. However, we cannot guarantee the cake will last that long.

Thanks for joining us today. Have an excellent and easy Sunday.

TWO CATS & TWO TREES

Awww Mondays

A collage with a tuxie catt and a tabby cat lying under two different Christmas trees.

I discovered Lisbeth and Raleigh enjoying some tree time yesterday. Lisbeth was under the cat tree in the foyer, and Raleigh was once again under the bear tree in the dining room. The sunroom, where the tree with my glass ornaments is located, remains off limits to the kitties.

If you read our last Feline Friday post, “Raleigh Discovers Magic of Christmas,” you may recall that I said Raleigh’s fur is not the bright orange color it appeared in that photo. The above photo shows the true color of his furs…sort of beige. If you missed the previous post, click on the link.

Our two tree huggers will be participating in the Awww Mondays blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. To join it yourself, click on the badge below.

Sparks

Our Spark today is Kitties Blue and my wish for all our friends and their families and furmilies in the new year.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow also is the day when Periwinkle and Stinky set out on a new adventure. They will be taking off from Periwinkle’s home over at Friends Furever. I know the tabbies are looking forward to sharing their adventure with you, so please don’t let them down. Their adventures are always worth a few minutes of your time.

Thanks for joining us today. We’ll be back on Wednesday.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

TWO MILESTONE CELBRATIONS

Periwinkle’s Arrival

Anxious for today’s adventure, Periwinkle arrives at Stinky’s house super early. As she tumbles from the teleportation tunnel, she slides across the floor right into the wall. She hollers, “ouch” followed by “fiddlesticks,” before she slaps her paw over her mouth. She knows all the Kitties Blue as well as Dad Tom and Mom Janet are asleep, and she fears she’s awakened them all. Periwinkle is miffed at herself, as she realizes Stinky is always at the tunnel waiting to catch her when she comes tumbling out.

As Periwinkle is picking herself up and straightening her furs, Lisbeth comes into the foyer. “Hey, what’s going on here? The sun isn’t even up yet!”

Periwinkle explains that she wants to be waiting for Stinky when he gets up so they could have the entire day together. She tells Lisbeth, “I really didn’t intend to make such a noisy entrance!” Before she can say anything else, Cooper Murphy comes wandering into the room, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. He asks, “What’s all the kerfuffle out here?” before he notices Periwinkle.

Cooper shakes his head, but gives Periwinkle a wink, and asks, “Should I go wake the man of the day?” Periwinkle blushes and nods yes. Cooper Murphy trots off to find Stinky, who is asleep upstairs. As he’s doing that the remainder of the Kitties Blue join Lisbeth and Periwinkle in the foyer. When Sawyer comes down the stairs and sees Periwinkle, he’s totally surprised. He runs up to her and gives a huge paw hug and oodles of whisker kisses, only stopping when Periwinkle starts to giggle.

“Wow, I didn’t expect you so early today. This is terrific,” Stinky tells her. “I didn’t know if you would remember that this is a special day.”

Periwinkle replies, “Of course, I did. How could I forget something so special.” After she replies, Periwinkle gets Cooper Murphy to help her pull a huge banner out of a shopping bag she’s brought from home. As they unroll it, she tells all the Kitties Blue that she and Noelle made it together.

10th Blogoversary

milestone celebrations: cartoon grey tabby cat and ginger tabby cat with balloons and a banner that reads, Congratulations 10th Blogoversary.

When Stinky sees the banner, his smile turns to a frown and all he can say is, “Oh, right! We are celebrating that milestone! I guess it is a pretty big deal; though, I have been a Kitties Blue for less than half the time.”

Misty May, Astrid and Lisbeth begin to hoot and holler and applaud when they see the sign. Being around at the start of The Cat on My Head, they are thrilled to be celebrating such a momentous occasion. Being the actual “cat on my head,” Misty May is proud to report that this is the 2,948th post on the blog. She says, “Frankly I am amazed our mom has stuck with this for so long. She normally has a very short attention span.”

All the Kitties Blue laugh at that, except Stinky. He’s sitting in the corner by himself pouting. When Periwinkle sees him, she asks Cooper Murphy to help her again. She pulls flowers, a cake, treats and another huge banner from her bag.

1st Anniversary of 2nd Gotcha Day

milestone celebrations: grey cartoon tabby cat with a cake and potted periwinkle plant with balloons and happy anniversary sign.

When Sawyer sees what she has, he runs to Periwinkle and again showers her with whisker kisses. “Oh you are the best girlfriend ever. I really thought you forgot that this is a special day for me!”

Periwinkle presents Stinky with a special cake Cooper Murphy helped her bake. She also gives him a periwinkle plant in a kitty pot as well as two huge containers of treats.

“Stinky, how could I ever forget that one year ago today is when you returned from your three-and-a-half-week, unauthorized walkabout. I will never forget how worried and frightened we all were that we’d never see you again. Nor will I ever forget how hard your mom and dad and I worked to find you. And I will especially never forget how grateful we were to the many people around the world praying for you.”

“I’m sorry I was being selfish and a grump,” Stinky tells her and his fursibs.

Periwinkle hugs him and says, “Even though you were less than nice to your mom when she brought you home, everyone was so happy to see you, and they all forgave you for taking off. So it is a day to celebrate both you, the ten years of your blog and the friendships you’ve made. Besides, if your mom and my mom didn’t have blogs, we never would have met. And, if you had not been found and brought home, your mom would not have been able to keep writing this blog. So, as you can, see both occasions are super important. Are you ready to celebrate both?”

All the Kitties Blue shout in unison, “Come on Stinky, let’s celebrate. Open up those treats Periwinkle brought.” Stinky does just that!

milestone celebrations: spilled treats and grey cartoon tabby cat

“Dive in, everybody. Let’s eat until we hork,” shouts Stinky.

Thankful Thursday

So we are thrilled to have two giant thankfuls today: our blogoversary and the anniversary of Stinky’s homecoming. Additionally we are thankful for Stinky being six weeks seizure free! We would not have made it to ten years without the support and friendship of so many animal lovers and followers from around the world. Surviving the weeks when Stinky was missing with our spirits and hopes for his return intact would have been unfathomable without the support.

Thank you to everyone who visits and is always praying for Stinky and his alter ego, Sawyer.

All Stinky’s fursibs gather with he and Periwinkle in the yard for a final photo to celebrate the day.

milestone celebrations: group photo with two cartoon grey tabby cats and six other cats

After naps on the catio, all the cats gather around Periwinkle to tell her, “thank you” for such a fabulous celebration. She and Stinky spend lots of time paw hugging, whispering and sharing whisker kisses before Periwinkle enters the teleportation tunnel for the trip home. With a final wave and a whoosh Periwinkle departs.

Brian hosts the Thankful Thursday blog hop. Periwinkle, Stinky & Stinky’s fursibs are joining the hop. If you’d like to participate, enter the URL for Brian’s blog in your browser.

WE COULDN’T HAVE HAD A MORE THANKFUL WEEK

Thankful Thursday

Again this week, Kitties Blue and I have a long list of thankfuls for Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop.

Kizmet

Kizmet asked if she could go first, and I could not deny the baby of the family. Yesterday she received official notification from the Helen Woodward Animal Center that she finished eighth in the Superhero Sidekicks Calendar Contest. She will have her own page in the 2022 calendar. So many friends generously donated/voted in an attempt to keep her in a high position. On the last day, however, there were some new entries with huge donations. Her entry brought in $715 in donations for HWAC, which we are all thankful for and pleased about. We are proud of her eighth place finish.

Sawyer

Sawyer has been home just over two weeks, which elicits a huge thankful from all of us. Cooper Murphy is no longer hissing and growling at him. The biggest thankful with regard to Sawyer is that he continues to be good about eating and getting all his meds. He has not had a seizure since returning home. Yippee!

Sawyer is still catching up on the sleep he missed while away.

Stinky

Stinky has the next thankful. He and Periwinkle’s posts about their adventure at the Mill Mountain Zoo earned a Certificate of Excellence from the Cat Writers’ Association in the Short Story category. If you missed that two-part adventure, you can read Part 1 and Part 2 by clicking on the links.

Mom Janet

I have a couple of thankfuls this week. My review posts (Yaheetech Cat Tree and PetLibro Water Fountain) each received CWA Certificates of Excellence as well.

My final thankful is for something extremely rare. I was both a First Commenter (one of four) and the First Right Guesser on the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats. I won this extra special badge.

Kitties Blue

Kitties Blue and I together have one final thankful. Back on July 21, we celebrated our Ninth Blogoversary. That is the same day Sawyer arrived home, so the blogoversary totally went unnoticed. Nonetheless, it happened, and we are all grateful we have stuck with this pursuit for that long, as we have made so many wonderful friends. We love and appreciate each one of you.

The crew and I are participating in the Thankful Thursday blog hop. If you’d like to join us, post on your blog for what you are thankful, then click on Brian’s badge to be transported to the hop.

EIGHTH BLOGOVERSARY

Our First Eight Years

This is our 2,310th post and our eighth blogoversary.

When Kitties Blue and I started this adventure, I knew nothing about blogging, had no idea how many cat-centric blogs existed and did not know by striking out on this endeavor I would meet so many like-minded people or make so many wonderful friends.

I am not going to run through a litany of milestones from the past eight years, but I do want to share a few.

Three new kitties joined our household.

Three beloved cats gained their wings.

We began our Sunday Selfies blog hop on August 17, 2014, and have posted it for 310 consecutive weeks. Lisbeth was our first host.

Astrid married Sampson “Sampy” (Kitty Cat Chronicles) at Blog Paws on May 23, 2016.

Mauricio married Allie (Friends Furever) on July 23, 2016 at Cat Scouts.

Along with Friends Furever we began the series, “The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky,” on October 8, 2019, alternating posts each Tuesday between the two blogs. In fact, Periwinkle & Stinky are off on another adventure today over at Friends Furever. These two little tabbies are always getting into some kind of mischief, and they truly enjoy sharing the fun times with our readers. Pop over and read today’s adventure by clicking the above link to Friends Furever.

These are merely a few of the highlights from the past eight years. We hope you have enjoyed this mini-retrospective and continue to visit us as we go forward.

Angel Lily Olivia, Angel Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer and I appreciate each and everyone who has ever visited or commented. If we didn’t, we wouldn’t be here. Thank you, friends! You have made all our lives better and more interesting.

Finally, Kitties Blue are joining the Happy Tuesday blog hop at Comedy Plus. You can do the same by clicking on the badge below.

SEVENTH BLOGOVERSARY

Sunday Selfies: Week #258

Welcome to our Seventh Blogoversary celebration.

In lieu of a new selfie, we are sharing a few from the past. First up are Lily Olivia and Fiona, our two angels who were here with us when The Cat on My Head began. Their first selfies actually were posted prior to our starting the blog hop.

Lily Olivia’s first Sunday Selfie, prior to the start of the blog hop. June 14, 2014

Fiona’s first Sunday Selfie was on our 400th post on July 20, 2014. This also was prior to starting the blog hop.

The start of the Sunday Selfies blog hop actually was on Astrid and Lisbeth’s birthday, which I discovered while writing the post. Astrid was not featured. I was already a bad mom.

That hop had a total of seven purrticipants, including three that continue to join us: Canadian Cats, 15 And Meowing and Tomcat Commentary by Tim. A special thanks to moms, Jean and Ellen, and dad, Pete, for your continued support. I may have to find some prizes for y’all, but no promises.

Sunday Selfies: Week #1 of the blog hop. featured Lisbeth – August 17, 2014

We are hoping you will join the blog hop by linking up your selfie. We are skipping our usual blog hop tips this week. Instead Kitties Blue are presenting some milestones from the past seven years.

Milestones

  • Sunday Selfies Blog Hop: Week 258
  • Recognitions: See sidebar
  • BlogPaws: Attended five times

  • Astrid married Sampson (Sampy) from Kitty Cat Chronicles

Of course, Mau baked a cake for us in his Cat Scout Bake Shop. Please enjoy a slice or two prior to enjoying an Easy Sunday.

Comment-a-thon

To celebrate this special occasion, I will be donating $1 to a shelter/rescue for each comment left on this post prior to 5 p.m. ET on July 24. One commenter will be selected using Random.org and given the opportunity to select the recipient of the donation.

Finally we would like to thank everyone who has visited us and supported us during these seven years, especially during the past year as we have struggled with Sawyer’s seizure disorder. We have made some amazing friends and look forward to making more in the future.

Another Celebration

On Tuesday, the 21st, Mau and Allie will celebrate the third anniversary of their marriage. We’ll be having a party and everyone is invited to attend.

SIXTH BLOGOVERSARY

We are beginning today’s post with an apology to Angel Sammy, Teddy and Mom Pam (Two Spoiled Cats). We are skipping Thoroughly Poetic Thursday today. And it is all Mom’s fault. We promise to be back next week with a new poem. But today we are belatedly celebrating a milestone.

Thankful Thursday

Thanks to Mom’s faulty memory we missed our sixth blogoversary on Saturday, July 21st. She knew it was this month but thought it was later in the month. Needless to say, we are miffed. We’d use stronger language, but this is a family-oriented blog.

Obviously we are not thankful that Mom forgot this important occasion, but we are thankful that we are six years into this adventure, and Mom is getting ready to renew our web-hosting contract for three more years. With eight of us, we still have lots to say, additional art to create and more poems to write.

For today’s post, we thought it might be fun to share a few statistics and milestones with you.

  • During our journey, we have lost two kitties, Fiona and Lily Olivia, and gained three, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer. Mauricio is quite happy to have gained two brothers; though, the boys are still outnumbered by the girls.
  • Astrid and Mauricio found true love and were married in 2016: Astrid to Sampson (Kitty Cat Chronicles) and Mau to Allie (Friends Furever).
  • Our Sunday Selfies Blog Hop has been going strong for 206 consecutive weeks.
  • This is post number 1,651.
  • We have received 46,061 legitimate comments.
  • We have increased our Google Page Rank from a 1 to a 4 (out of 10).
  • In the past three years we have had 20,195 individual visitors from 147 different countries.

Mostly we are thankful for all the friends we have made during the past six years. You are the reason we are and will continue on this journey.

We are entering Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop. To enter, just post for what you are thankful, then click on the badge above to go to his blog and link your post.

FIFTH BLOGOVERSARY BLOWOUT

If you had asked us five tears ago to predict if we’d still be posting five years later, we wouldn’t have had a clue. We’d never read a blog, and we had little to no idea what we were doing. Yet here we are today. If you’d like to know why we are still blogging after five years, our reason is YOU. Each and every person who has ever visited or left a comment is the entire reason for our existence.

We have met so many amazing anipals and made friends that are dear to our hearts. So stopping now isn’t an option. We would miss all of you too much.

Many bloggers do a retrospective of the past year on their blogoversary. We will do a mini one, as you know what has happened if you follow us.

  • The low point of our year was the passing of our beloved Fiona on December 1 with Sammy (OneSpoiledCat) following a day later.
  • The high point was Fiona delivering Cooper Murphy to us on January 7.
  • Mau and Allie were married at Cat Scouts on July 23, 2016, and will celebrate their first anniversary on our Sunday Selfies blog hop.
  • We won a few badges that were not Greenies on the Tuesday Teaser, including this week’s First Commenter badge.

  • We enjoyed using our imaginations to create art for Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty‘s Caturday Art blog hop, TwoSpoiledCats Thoroughly Poetic Thursday and the Friendly Fill-Ins hosted by Ellen (15AndMeowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader).
  • Lily Olivia turned 18 and joined the Crotchety Cougars Club.
  • Cooper Murphy became a Cat Scout and joined the Tabby Cat Club.

Friendly Fill-Ins

We normally participate in this blog hop each Friday but will postpone our entry until tomorrow and include it with our Caturday Art.

Thank You

We may not have written about Fiona yesterday for our Thoroughly Poetic Thursday post, but a dear friend did. Mom Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs) wrote an adorable poem, entitled, “Fiona the Ferrier,” and did a doodle featuring her. We all hope you click on the link and read it.  Thank you from all of us, including Mom and Dad. This warmed our hearts.

Thanks for being our followers and friends and joining us for our blogoversary party. You rock!
