Anniversary

ANOTHER ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATION

Sunday Selfies: Week #466

This is not our usual Sunday Selfies post. We actually have two selfies today of two special angels.

Mau & Allie’s Seventh Anniversary

Here are the lovebirds.

Allie & Mau Anniversary: Angel Cats Allie (white and grey Birman cat) and Angel Mau (tuxedo cat) celebrate their seventh wedding anniversary with heart shaped portraits .

Traditionally I make some collages for them on their anniversary. As they have selfies, I made only one this year.

Allie Mau Anniversary: Collage featuring five photos of a tuxedo cat and grey and white Birman cat in various celebratory situations.

These two cats are so missed by Dad Tom and me and Allie’s mom Sharon. I know many others loved them as well. As long as this blog continues, I will remember them here.

As most of Allie and Mau’s wedding party as well as many other friends are now at the Rainbow Bridge with them, we know they’ll be celebrating there. Mau was the first baker in the family, teaching Cooper Murphy everything he knew. So I am certain Mau will have created the purrfect confection for their celebration. We hope you won’t feel too badly that we have foregone the festivities, as we will be back with another huge party on Wednesday, July 26, when Audrey and Raleigh will be celebrating their first Gotcha Day.

Hopping Time

Though the current Kitties Blue and I didn’t post a new selfie of one of them, we all look forward to seeing one of each of you. If you cannot post today, it’s not a problem. The hop remains open through Thursday. If you’ve never joined in the fun previously, we’d love to have you participate.

As always, we wish you an easy Sunday and thank you for your support and friendship.

ASTRID’S PORTRAIT & CANDID CAMERA PRANK

Thankful Thursday

Astrid and I have the first thankful. Sampy sent her the most incredible anniversary present, which his mom, Emily, created. Here’s a photo of it.

Framed drawing of a tortoise shell cat.

We knew Emily is very talented, but never knew she could draw. So this was a huge surprise. It looks exactly like Astrid and is purrfect!

I am thankful for another double win on the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats. I was one of two First Commenters and the First Right Guesser of the Teaser. These are the badges I received.

.

Kitties Blue and I are thankful for those of you who visited our Monday post when we remembered our angel Mau.

We are, of course, thankful for each of you who visit us, comment and join our blog hop.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

This week’s inspiration photo provided by Teddy and Angel Sammy from Two Spoiled Cats is truly bizarre. I did consider adding a few of the Kitties Blue to it, but that would have been overdoing it just a tad. Seventeen bald babies all dressed in the same blue romper is nightmare enough!

Photo of 17 bald babies all wearing the same blue romper with three crawling atop a woman lying on the floor.

You’re on Candid Camera

There are so many babies
I don’t know what to do.
I feel like I’m trapped in a human zoo.

With all these mouths to feed
And diapers to change,
I think I may be going insane.

When I was hired to care for multiple infants,
I didn’t ask for the exact number
Or if they took the opportunity to slumber.

I definitely need some assistance.
They all look exactly the same,
And I have no idea of their names.

I think this must have been a prank—
Like that TV show Candid Camera.
If so, release me before I lose my stamina.

Only a so-so poem this week for which I apologize. I think this is a photo that stands along and didn’t really need me to try and interpret it.

If you’d like to join in the fun of writing poetry, click on Angel Sammy’s poetry badge. That will take you over to Two Spoiled Cats where you can find next week’s inspiration photo. You’ll also be able to check out Angel Sammy’s poem for this week. He transmits it to Teddy each week from the Rainbow Bridge, and in our opinion, it’s always a winner.

Thanks for joining us today. Kitties Blue and I hope you will join us again tomorrow when we celebrate our 11th blogoversary and the second anniversary of Sawyer’s second Gotcha Day.

TWINKLY-EYED TORTIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #465

Tortoise shell cat with a twinkle in her eye and framed with a red, pink and white checked ribbon with a big bow and pink flower.

Are you surprised to see me? I haven’t been on the blog since June 23, when Sampy and I celebrated our anniversary. Did you know that June 23 is also Kizmet’s birthday, and we did not celebrate it? Mom just realized that yesterday. We have so many things to celebrate in June and July, she says it is hard to keep up, especially with her aging brain being in charge of remembering.

Tomorrow we have the anniversary of Mau getting his angel wings. Then we have Sawyer’s second anniversary of his second Gotcha Day and our blogoversary, followed by Mau and Allie’s anniversary. And just a few days later it will be Raleigh and Audrey’s Gotcha Day. Whew…that is a lot. I sure cannot blame Mom for not being able to keep up. But, she better not forget Lisbeth’s and my birthday in August.

Speaking of Sampy’s and my anniversary, I received my gift in the mail on Saturday; though, I really think it is more for my mom. Sampy’s mom, Emily, created it. It is quite beautiful, and we will share it on Thankful Thursday.

So that’s about all I have to say for today, except, please join us for our blog hop. It’s easy and fun and the purrfect way to show off how cute you are. It’s also a great way to make some new friends.

Have an easy Sunday.

Purrs and paw-pats, Astrid (with all my love and a bajillion kisses to Sampy)

SEVENTH ANNIVERSARY FOR ASTRID & SAMPY

Feline Friday

Seven years ago today at the BlogPaws Conference, two absolutely adorable kitties were married in absentia.

Cartoon-type portrait of a tortoise shell cat and a tuxedo cat dressed as a bride and groom.

Our Astrid and Sampson (aka Sampy) of Kitty Cat Chronicles and now, Kitty Cat Go, became husband and wife. If you were unaware of this or have never read the post, here’s the link, “Introducing the Newlyweds.”

These two have had many fun times through the years as well as anniversary celebrations. You can check any of those out by entering Astrid Sampy in the search feature near the bottom of the sidebar. Also, you can find out more about Sampy by clicking on The Felines tab on our menu bar.

The adorable drawing above was created by the talented Lorianne of Friendly Fill-Ins fame and the blog, Four-Legged Furballs.

Astrid made Sampy a card.

The two sweethearts will be jumping over to celebrate at messymimi’s meanderings. To join them on the blog hop, click on the Feline Friday badge.

Friendly Fill-Ins

I was happy to have help again this week to complete the fill-ins selected by our blog hop hosts, Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). I sort of thought Astrid might help me, but she passed. All nine of the Kitties Blue, however, put their heads together to fill in #1. We all used teal italics for our completions. Any additional information is in parentheses.

1. All Kitties Blue: Never underestimate the power of a well-timed stink eye.

2. Days of constant rain and no sun makes me depressed and useless.

3. I need to continue to follow the Noom program so that I can lose ten more pounds. (I am down 16 pounds since March 31.)

4. I didn’t realize how expensive it would be to adopt Raleigh and Audrey until I had taken them for their first vet visit. (When we adopted Kizmet, she had already had her vaccines and spay surgery, and we only had to pay an adoption fee.)

So that’s it for today. Thanks for joining us. I apologize for not posting yesterday. See #2 above for the explanation.

We will be back tomorrow for some Caturday Art and a puzzle. We’ll hope to see you again then.

OODLES OF THANKFULS & THE COTILLION

Thankful Thursday

We have a long list of thankfuls for this week.

In spite of Sawyer being a a little stinker and hiding for a major portion of our time away, meaning he didn’t get his meals or meds, he hasn’t had a seizure in three-and-a-half weeks. That’s the longest he has gone without one in quite a while. I do attribute that to our now feeding him kitten food with his meds.

I am thankful to have been one of three first commenters on The Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats. But even better, I am thankful to have provided the Teaser photo and to have stumped all the guessers. I received these two badges.

Dad Tom and I are thankful for reaching our 50th wedding anniversary and enjoying a few days away at the Hope and Glory Inn in Irvington, Virginia. Periwinkle & Stinky visited there on Tuesday. If you missed that post, here’s the link, The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky: Part CLXXXVIII.

Man and woman in their 70s cuddled together in a restaurant.

Our next thankful involves some very special friends. On the way home from our trip, we met Pam and David (Two Spoiled Cats) for lunch. We hadn’t been able to get together since August 2021, so it was a particular pleasure to have this time together.

Two women (one with long blonde hair and glasses and one with short dark hair) in front of a sign for Randolph's on the River restaurant.

Our final thankful also involves Pam and David. They gifted us with this gorgeous anniversary present, which Dad Tom and I will cherish always. (Sorry I didn’t get a better photo of it.)

Shadow box with two human figures made from stones, a real piece of tree and a branch with a red heart and the words: Janet and Tom Love is forever Celebrating our 50th Anniversary

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To participate, post on your blog for what you are thankful and then click on his badge to join the hop.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

On Thursday, I also enjoy writing some poetry based on an inspiration photo provided by Angel Sammy and Teddy from Two Spoiled Cats. I do attempt to add one or more of the Kitties Blue to the photo each week, but this week I didn’t find a way to do that and then write a convincing poem.

So here’s the phone sans kitties followed by my poem.

Ballroom filled with dancers from the 1950s at a cotillion.

The Cotillion

Once upon a time, young ladies and men
Practiced this annual tradition
Of dressing up & going to cotillion—
A custom from the eighteenth century
For young people of a certain pedigree.
It’s still a practice not just a memory.
Dinner jackets and white dresses,
Boutonnieres and wrist corsages—
All dictated by the most stringent protocols.
In the long past, I did enjoy this.
But now I am content just to reminisce,
As I remember the night of my first kiss.

If you’d like to try writing some poetry, check out Two Spoiled Cats (by clicking on the poetry badge) for next week’s inspiration photo. Please read Angel Sammy’s poem when you visit. He sends it to Teddy each week from the Rainbow Bridge, and his poems are always exceptional!

Thanks for joining us today. We’ll see you again tomorrow for Friendly Fill-Ins and Feline Friday.

THEN & NOW: 50TH ANNIVERSARY

May 19, 1973 – 2023

We know today is Feline Friday and Friendly Fill-Ins day, but we have something more important on our agenda—wishing our mom and dad a happy 50th anniversary.

Collage of a young couple at their wedding and the same couple 50 years later.

We are not too happy about being deserted so these two can celebrate, but blessed to have them as our human caregivers. And for a couple of old geezers, we think they look pretty darn good!

So, Happy Anniversary to the best cat parents. We love you.

PIRATES CELEBRATE 3000TH POST!

3,000th Post

Arrrgh…how did that happen? I cannot wrap my head around that 3000 number. To those of you who have been with us since somewhere near the beginning as well as everyone who has ever visited, thank you! Without your following and support, I would not have reached this milestone nor would I still be writing this blog.

Sparks/Meow (Talk) Like a Pirate Day

Our three boys, Cooper Murphy (Decrepit Hugo Scarr), Sawyer (Cap’n Joe Leadhead) and Raleigh (Armless Bart Bellamy) are here to celebrate this fun holiday and present our Spark. Cap’n Joe is much too young for grog, pillaging or digging for buried treasure; though, he certainly is an energetic litter box excavator. I think we’ll consider him an apprentice pirate for this year.

Two tabby cats (one grey and one orange) and one orange tabby kitten dressed in pirate clothing.

I absolutely love this Spark from Disney. Reading is one of my favorite pastimes.

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie is taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. Many of us still continue to post a Spark on Monday, as we believe in Annie’s vision: “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

Comment-a-thon

In honor of Misty May and Angel Mau, Kitties Blue and I are having a comment-a-thon. I will donate $1 for every comment (one per person, please) made on their birthday post through midnight Thursday. One commenter, selected through Random.org, will have the opportunity to select the pet shelter, rescue or charity to receive the donation. So please feel free to invite all your friends to join the party and comment.

Awww Mondays

My three pirates are popping over to Comedy Plus for the Awww Mondays blog hop. If you’d like to join them, click on the Awww badge.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

This fun-loving, tabby duo will return tomorrow with the next installment in their adventure series. It is Periwinkle’s week to plan and post their adventure, so look for them at Friends Furever tomorrow. I know both Periwinkle and Stinky will be looking forward to seeing all of you.

6TH ANNIVERSARY OF ANGELS ALLIE & MAU

Caturday Art

Though these two precious and purrfect angels cannot be with us today, except in our hearts and memories, we would never miss wishing them a happy anniversary. They will be loved and remembered always by their families and many others.

My art today is a collage with some special memories. I’ve done many collages for Mau and Allie, but a few of today’s photos may be new to you. The one of them in The Lady Allie swan boat from Cat Scouts is an all-time favorite of mine.

angels anniversary: collage with sledding photo, space photo, duck boat, wedding and formal portrait of tuxedo cat and birman cat.

I miss these two everyday, and I know Allie’s mom, Sharon, does as well. I suspect some others of you also miss them.

Cooper Murphy made a lovely cake for Mau and Allie and, of course, we have champagne.

Please join us in celebrating and remembering our special angel wife and husband. If you were not following us when these two tied the knot at Cat Scouts, you can check out their wedding at “A Grand Affair.”

I did create a jigsaw for all who enjoy puzzling.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

We have had quite a week of celebrations and milestones. So, Kitties Blue are ready for a nice easy Sunday, but first one of them will need to step up, snap a selfie and takeover tomorrow’s hosting duties. No clue as to which of them it might me. We sincerely hope many of you will take selfies as well and participate in our hop. You know how much we and all your other friends enjoy seeing your precious faces.

Until then, please celebrate with us and enjoy your Caturday.

TWO MILESTONE CELBRATIONS

Periwinkle’s Arrival

Anxious for today’s adventure, Periwinkle arrives at Stinky’s house super early. As she tumbles from the teleportation tunnel, she slides across the floor right into the wall. She hollers, “ouch” followed by “fiddlesticks,” before she slaps her paw over her mouth. She knows all the Kitties Blue as well as Dad Tom and Mom Janet are asleep, and she fears she’s awakened them all. Periwinkle is miffed at herself, as she realizes Stinky is always at the tunnel waiting to catch her when she comes tumbling out.

As Periwinkle is picking herself up and straightening her furs, Lisbeth comes into the foyer. “Hey, what’s going on here? The sun isn’t even up yet!”

Periwinkle explains that she wants to be waiting for Stinky when he gets up so they could have the entire day together. She tells Lisbeth, “I really didn’t intend to make such a noisy entrance!” Before she can say anything else, Cooper Murphy comes wandering into the room, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. He asks, “What’s all the kerfuffle out here?” before he notices Periwinkle.

Cooper shakes his head, but gives Periwinkle a wink, and asks, “Should I go wake the man of the day?” Periwinkle blushes and nods yes. Cooper Murphy trots off to find Stinky, who is asleep upstairs. As he’s doing that the remainder of the Kitties Blue join Lisbeth and Periwinkle in the foyer. When Sawyer comes down the stairs and sees Periwinkle, he’s totally surprised. He runs up to her and gives a huge paw hug and oodles of whisker kisses, only stopping when Periwinkle starts to giggle.

“Wow, I didn’t expect you so early today. This is terrific,” Stinky tells her. “I didn’t know if you would remember that this is a special day.”

Periwinkle replies, “Of course, I did. How could I forget something so special.” After she replies, Periwinkle gets Cooper Murphy to help her pull a huge banner out of a shopping bag she’s brought from home. As they unroll it, she tells all the Kitties Blue that she and Noelle made it together.

10th Blogoversary

milestone celebrations: cartoon grey tabby cat and ginger tabby cat with balloons and a banner that reads, Congratulations 10th Blogoversary.

When Stinky sees the banner, his smile turns to a frown and all he can say is, “Oh, right! We are celebrating that milestone! I guess it is a pretty big deal; though, I have been a Kitties Blue for less than half the time.”

Misty May, Astrid and Lisbeth begin to hoot and holler and applaud when they see the sign. Being around at the start of The Cat on My Head, they are thrilled to be celebrating such a momentous occasion. Being the actual “cat on my head,” Misty May is proud to report that this is the 2,948th post on the blog. She says, “Frankly I am amazed our mom has stuck with this for so long. She normally has a very short attention span.”

All the Kitties Blue laugh at that, except Stinky. He’s sitting in the corner by himself pouting. When Periwinkle sees him, she asks Cooper Murphy to help her again. She pulls flowers, a cake, treats and another huge banner from her bag.

1st Anniversary of 2nd Gotcha Day

milestone celebrations: grey cartoon tabby cat with a cake and potted periwinkle plant with balloons and happy anniversary sign.

When Sawyer sees what she has, he runs to Periwinkle and again showers her with whisker kisses. “Oh you are the best girlfriend ever. I really thought you forgot that this is a special day for me!”

Periwinkle presents Stinky with a special cake Cooper Murphy helped her bake. She also gives him a periwinkle plant in a kitty pot as well as two huge containers of treats.

“Stinky, how could I ever forget that one year ago today is when you returned from your three-and-a-half-week, unauthorized walkabout. I will never forget how worried and frightened we all were that we’d never see you again. Nor will I ever forget how hard your mom and dad and I worked to find you. And I will especially never forget how grateful we were to the many people around the world praying for you.”

“I’m sorry I was being selfish and a grump,” Stinky tells her and his fursibs.

Periwinkle hugs him and says, “Even though you were less than nice to your mom when she brought you home, everyone was so happy to see you, and they all forgave you for taking off. So it is a day to celebrate both you, the ten years of your blog and the friendships you’ve made. Besides, if your mom and my mom didn’t have blogs, we never would have met. And, if you had not been found and brought home, your mom would not have been able to keep writing this blog. So, as you can, see both occasions are super important. Are you ready to celebrate both?”

All the Kitties Blue shout in unison, “Come on Stinky, let’s celebrate. Open up those treats Periwinkle brought.” Stinky does just that!

milestone celebrations: spilled treats and grey cartoon tabby cat

“Dive in, everybody. Let’s eat until we hork,” shouts Stinky.

Thankful Thursday

So we are thrilled to have two giant thankfuls today: our blogoversary and the anniversary of Stinky’s homecoming. Additionally we are thankful for Stinky being six weeks seizure free! We would not have made it to ten years without the support and friendship of so many animal lovers and followers from around the world. Surviving the weeks when Stinky was missing with our spirits and hopes for his return intact would have been unfathomable without the support.

Thank you to everyone who visits and is always praying for Stinky and his alter ego, Sawyer.

All Stinky’s fursibs gather with he and Periwinkle in the yard for a final photo to celebrate the day.

milestone celebrations: group photo with two cartoon grey tabby cats and six other cats

After naps on the catio, all the cats gather around Periwinkle to tell her, “thank you” for such a fabulous celebration. She and Stinky spend lots of time paw hugging, whispering and sharing whisker kisses before Periwinkle enters the teleportation tunnel for the trip home. With a final wave and a whoosh Periwinkle departs.

Brian hosts the Thankful Thursday blog hop. Periwinkle, Stinky & Stinky’s fursibs are joining the hop. If you’d like to participate, enter the URL for Brian’s blog in your browser.

ANGEL MAU’S FIRST OFFICIAL SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #413

Two years ago today our beloved Mau(ricio) became an angel. He’d been ailing for a couple of weeks, but we had no idea that his death was imminent. He passed on his own terms after going out to the yard through the cat door early on that Friday morning. As with all of our angels, I will hold him in my heart always. Admittedly he takes up a very large part of my heart. Mau had a huge purrsonality and loving heart. He adored his wife Allie, his fursibs, his humans, his human girlfriend, Mary Jane, and pretty much anyone he ever met.

I know I think of him daily, as I look at his photos and the wonderful painting Karen Nichols (Cat Scouts Denmaster) created of him.

Today, Kitties Blue, Dad Tom and I remember him with his very first and not too great selfie from August 3, 2014.

Tuxedo cat, who is now an angel shares his first selfie photo from 2014.

We did not officially begin the Sunday Selfies blog hop until two weeks later on August 17. (Next month we will celebrate our eighth Sunday Selfies anniversary.)

Mau took his final selfies on July 8, 2020. You can see those in the post, “Mau’s Final Selfies.” After six years of practice, he did a much better job with those final ones.

Hopping Time

I know Angel Mau would be so happy if you join him today and post your selfie. But, if you don’t post on Sundays or are busy today, you can join the top anytime through Thursday. Kitties Blue love making new anipal friends. If you think any of your friends might enjoy participating, please invite them on our behalf.

Thank you to everyone who continues to hop with us each week. We appreciate you support and friendship.
