PIRATES CELEBRATE 3000TH POST!

3,000th Post

Arrrgh…how did that happen? I cannot wrap my head around that 3000 number. To those of you who have been with us since somewhere near the beginning as well as everyone who has ever visited, thank you! Without your following and support, I would not have reached this milestone nor would I still be writing this blog.

Sparks/Meow (Talk) Like a Pirate Day

Our three boys, Cooper Murphy (Decrepit Hugo Scarr), Sawyer (Cap’n Joe Leadhead) and Raleigh (Armless Bart Bellamy) are here to celebrate this fun holiday and present our Spark. Cap’n Joe is much too young for grog, pillaging or digging for buried treasure; though, he certainly is an energetic litter box excavator. I think we’ll consider him an apprentice pirate for this year.

Two tabby cats (one grey and one orange) and one orange tabby kitten dressed in pirate clothing.

I absolutely love this Spark from Disney. Reading is one of my favorite pastimes.

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie is taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. Many of us still continue to post a Spark on Monday, as we believe in Annie’s vision: “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

Comment-a-thon

In honor of Misty May and Angel Mau, Kitties Blue and I are having a comment-a-thon. I will donate $1 for every comment (one per person, please) made on their birthday post through midnight Thursday. One commenter, selected through Random.org, will have the opportunity to select the pet shelter, rescue or charity to receive the donation. So please feel free to invite all your friends to join the party and comment.

Awww Mondays

My three pirates are popping over to Comedy Plus for the Awww Mondays blog hop. If you’d like to join them, click on the Awww badge.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

This fun-loving, tabby duo will return tomorrow with the next installment in their adventure series. It is Periwinkle’s week to plan and post their adventure, so look for them at Friends Furever tomorrow. I know both Periwinkle and Stinky will be looking forward to seeing all of you.

6TH ANNIVERSARY OF ANGELS ALLIE & MAU

Caturday Art

Though these two precious and purrfect angels cannot be with us today, except in our hearts and memories, we would never miss wishing them a happy anniversary. They will be loved and remembered always by their families and many others.

My art today is a collage with some special memories. I’ve done many collages for Mau and Allie, but a few of today’s photos may be new to you. The one of them in The Lady Allie swan boat from Cat Scouts is an all-time favorite of mine.

angels anniversary: collage with sledding photo, space photo, duck boat, wedding and formal portrait of tuxedo cat and birman cat.

I miss these two everyday, and I know Allie’s mom, Sharon, does as well. I suspect some others of you also miss them.

Cooper Murphy made a lovely cake for Mau and Allie and, of course, we have champagne.

Please join us in celebrating and remembering our special angel wife and husband. If you were not following us when these two tied the knot at Cat Scouts, you can check out their wedding at “A Grand Affair.”

I did create a jigsaw for all who enjoy puzzling.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

We have had quite a week of celebrations and milestones. So, Kitties Blue are ready for a nice easy Sunday, but first one of them will need to step up, snap a selfie and takeover tomorrow’s hosting duties. No clue as to which of them it might me. We sincerely hope many of you will take selfies as well and participate in our hop. You know how much we and all your other friends enjoy seeing your precious faces.

Until then, please celebrate with us and enjoy your Caturday.

TWO MILESTONE CELBRATIONS

Periwinkle’s Arrival

Anxious for today’s adventure, Periwinkle arrives at Stinky’s house super early. As she tumbles from the teleportation tunnel, she slides across the floor right into the wall. She hollers, “ouch” followed by “fiddlesticks,” before she slaps her paw over her mouth. She knows all the Kitties Blue as well as Dad Tom and Mom Janet are asleep, and she fears she’s awakened them all. Periwinkle is miffed at herself, as she realizes Stinky is always at the tunnel waiting to catch her when she comes tumbling out.

As Periwinkle is picking herself up and straightening her furs, Lisbeth comes into the foyer. “Hey, what’s going on here? The sun isn’t even up yet!”

Periwinkle explains that she wants to be waiting for Stinky when he gets up so they could have the entire day together. She tells Lisbeth, “I really didn’t intend to make such a noisy entrance!” Before she can say anything else, Cooper Murphy comes wandering into the room, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. He asks, “What’s all the kerfuffle out here?” before he notices Periwinkle.

Cooper shakes his head, but gives Periwinkle a wink, and asks, “Should I go wake the man of the day?” Periwinkle blushes and nods yes. Cooper Murphy trots off to find Stinky, who is asleep upstairs. As he’s doing that the remainder of the Kitties Blue join Lisbeth and Periwinkle in the foyer. When Sawyer comes down the stairs and sees Periwinkle, he’s totally surprised. He runs up to her and gives a huge paw hug and oodles of whisker kisses, only stopping when Periwinkle starts to giggle.

“Wow, I didn’t expect you so early today. This is terrific,” Stinky tells her. “I didn’t know if you would remember that this is a special day.”

Periwinkle replies, “Of course, I did. How could I forget something so special.” After she replies, Periwinkle gets Cooper Murphy to help her pull a huge banner out of a shopping bag she’s brought from home. As they unroll it, she tells all the Kitties Blue that she and Noelle made it together.

10th Blogoversary

milestone celebrations: cartoon grey tabby cat and ginger tabby cat with balloons and a banner that reads, Congratulations 10th Blogoversary.

When Stinky sees the banner, his smile turns to a frown and all he can say is, “Oh, right! We are celebrating that milestone! I guess it is a pretty big deal; though, I have been a Kitties Blue for less than half the time.”

Misty May, Astrid and Lisbeth begin to hoot and holler and applaud when they see the sign. Being around at the start of The Cat on My Head, they are thrilled to be celebrating such a momentous occasion. Being the actual “cat on my head,” Misty May is proud to report that this is the 2,948th post on the blog. She says, “Frankly I am amazed our mom has stuck with this for so long. She normally has a very short attention span.”

All the Kitties Blue laugh at that, except Stinky. He’s sitting in the corner by himself pouting. When Periwinkle sees him, she asks Cooper Murphy to help her again. She pulls flowers, a cake, treats and another huge banner from her bag.

1st Anniversary of 2nd Gotcha Day

milestone celebrations: grey cartoon tabby cat with a cake and potted periwinkle plant with balloons and happy anniversary sign.

When Sawyer sees what she has, he runs to Periwinkle and again showers her with whisker kisses. “Oh you are the best girlfriend ever. I really thought you forgot that this is a special day for me!”

Periwinkle presents Stinky with a special cake Cooper Murphy helped her bake. She also gives him a periwinkle plant in a kitty pot as well as two huge containers of treats.

“Stinky, how could I ever forget that one year ago today is when you returned from your three-and-a-half-week, unauthorized walkabout. I will never forget how worried and frightened we all were that we’d never see you again. Nor will I ever forget how hard your mom and dad and I worked to find you. And I will especially never forget how grateful we were to the many people around the world praying for you.”

“I’m sorry I was being selfish and a grump,” Stinky tells her and his fursibs.

Periwinkle hugs him and says, “Even though you were less than nice to your mom when she brought you home, everyone was so happy to see you, and they all forgave you for taking off. So it is a day to celebrate both you, the ten years of your blog and the friendships you’ve made. Besides, if your mom and my mom didn’t have blogs, we never would have met. And, if you had not been found and brought home, your mom would not have been able to keep writing this blog. So, as you can, see both occasions are super important. Are you ready to celebrate both?”

All the Kitties Blue shout in unison, “Come on Stinky, let’s celebrate. Open up those treats Periwinkle brought.” Stinky does just that!

milestone celebrations: spilled treats and grey cartoon tabby cat

“Dive in, everybody. Let’s eat until we hork,” shouts Stinky.

Thankful Thursday

So we are thrilled to have two giant thankfuls today: our blogoversary and the anniversary of Stinky’s homecoming. Additionally we are thankful for Stinky being six weeks seizure free! We would not have made it to ten years without the support and friendship of so many animal lovers and followers from around the world. Surviving the weeks when Stinky was missing with our spirits and hopes for his return intact would have been unfathomable without the support.

Thank you to everyone who visits and is always praying for Stinky and his alter ego, Sawyer.

All Stinky’s fursibs gather with he and Periwinkle in the yard for a final photo to celebrate the day.

milestone celebrations: group photo with two cartoon grey tabby cats and six other cats

After naps on the catio, all the cats gather around Periwinkle to tell her, “thank you” for such a fabulous celebration. She and Stinky spend lots of time paw hugging, whispering and sharing whisker kisses before Periwinkle enters the teleportation tunnel for the trip home. With a final wave and a whoosh Periwinkle departs.

Brian hosts the Thankful Thursday blog hop. Periwinkle, Stinky & Stinky’s fursibs are joining the hop. If you’d like to participate, enter the URL for Brian’s blog in your browser.

ANGEL MAU’S FIRST OFFICIAL SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #413

Two years ago today our beloved Mau(ricio) became an angel. He’d been ailing for a couple of weeks, but we had no idea that his death was imminent. He passed on his own terms after going out to the yard through the cat door early on that Friday morning. As with all of our angels, I will hold him in my heart always. Admittedly he takes up a very large part of my heart. Mau had a huge purrsonality and loving heart. He adored his wife Allie, his fursibs, his humans, his human girlfriend, Mary Jane, and pretty much anyone he ever met.

I know I think of him daily, as I look at his photos and the wonderful painting Karen Nichols (Cat Scouts Denmaster) created of him.

Today, Kitties Blue, Dad Tom and I remember him with his very first and not too great selfie from August 3, 2014.

Tuxedo cat, who is now an angel shares his first selfie photo from 2014.

We did not officially begin the Sunday Selfies blog hop until two weeks later on August 17. (Next month we will celebrate our eighth Sunday Selfies anniversary.)

Mau took his final selfies on July 8, 2020. You can see those in the post, “Mau’s Final Selfies.” After six years of practice, he did a much better job with those final ones.

Hopping Time

I know Angel Mau would be so happy if you join him today and post your selfie. But, if you don’t post on Sundays or are busy today, you can join the top anytime through Thursday. Kitties Blue love making new anipal friends. If you think any of your friends might enjoy participating, please invite them on our behalf.

Thank you to everyone who continues to hop with us each week. We appreciate you support and friendship.

KITTIES CELEBRATE 2ND BIRTHDAY & 6TH ANNIVERSARY

Thankful Thursday

Today is a big day at our house with a birthday and an anniversary to celebrate.

Sixth Anniversary

birthday & anniversary: collage with two heart-shaped photos, one of a tortie cat and one of a tuxie cat

Six years ago today Astrid and Sampy (Sampson Hall) were married at the Blog Paws Conference. You can see the wedding post at “Introducing the Newlyweds.”  In celebration, we have a card and cake (baked by Cooper Murphy) for them.

birthday & anniversary: sixth anniversary card with wedding cat couple, a heart and flowers

birthday & anniversary: two-tiered, square cake with lavender flowers

We all offer our best wishes to this sweet and adorable couple. We are thankful they found each other and that we are able to celebrate with them today.

Second Birthday

Today Kizmet turns two. She’s officially no longer a kitten; though, she is still full of kitten energy! And she continues to act like a monkey. We also have a card and another cake from Cooper Murphy for her.

birthday & anniversary: birth and party favorsday card with photo of grey cat

birthday & anniversary: pick and white cake with macarons and a grey fondant cat for decorations

We are truly thankful we adopted Kizmet. She has brought hours of laughter and love into our lives. We never know what mischief she’s going to get up to. She has a special birthday gift on its way, which we think will bring her oodles of fun and lots of entertainment for Dad Tom, me and her fursibs. I’ll make certain she tells you all about it and shares photos.

Please join us as we celebrate. Help yourselves to cake and champagne or lemonade. And stay as long as you like.

As Kitties Blue and I do each week, we thank you for your support and friendship. These are the best gifts any of us can receive.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

With apologies to Teddy and Angel Sammy, I didn’t write a poem today. I will include one in tomorrow’s post or share it as a stand-alone post.

MY CAREGIVERS ARE QUIRKY

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Last week I missed Teddy and Angel Sammy’s poetry challenge, which I don’t like to do. I am back today with another altered inspirational photo. This time, I had a little help from Astrid.

quirky caregivers are two ladies with hair to the floor and a tortoise shell cat

The poem’s structure is a bit different. It consists of rhyming and off-rhyming couplets with the title, which is also the first line, rhyming with the last line.

My Caregivers are Quirky…

Look at that ridiculous hair.
I think mice must be living in there.
When the ladies are sleeping each night,
I root through to see what I can find—
Tidbits from breakfast or dinner,
The toy I lost sometime last winter.
If I get cold, I can burrow deep within.
And, though, I’ve never reached any skin,
I can still feel safe and stay warm
Knowing I won’t come to any harm.
You may find my mistresses a bit different,
But to all my needs they are ever vigilant.
I wouldn’t trade them for a mound of tuna jerky.

If you think you’d enjoy writing some poetry check out Two Spoiled Cats on Thursdays for the following week’s inspiration photo. You can pop over there by clicking on Angel Sammy’s badge. While visiting, please read Sammy’s poem. He is a masterful poet.

Thankful Thursday

Thursday is also the day Kitties Blue and I share our thankfuls with you.

  • Misty May has been on medication for hyperthyroidism for three weeks. She had bood work on Tuesday, but we haven’t gotten a report on that yet. Nonetheless, Misty May, Dad Tom and I are thankful that her weight has increased from 4.56 pounds to 4.88 pounds.
  • Dad Tom, Sawyer and I are thankful Sawyer hasn’t had a seizure in nine days. Fingers and paws are crossed that he can stretch that out for at least a few more days.
  • All the Kitties Blue are thankful their very own, quirky caregivers are celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary.

quirky caregivers in this photo are the Kitties Blue mom and dad on their wedding day in 1973.

  • All the Kitties Blue are delighted their two pots of catnip from last year came back this spring, and the plants are already big enough that they can enjoy the occasional sprig.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. If you would like to participate, post on your blog for what you are thankful. Then enter the URL from Brian’s badge in your browser.

Thanks for your support and friendship.

SUNDAY SELFIES SEVENTH ANNIVERSARY

Sunday Selfies: Week #365

Welcome to our seventh anniversary of Sunday Selfies. Our first Sunday Selfies post was on August 17, 2014. Lisbeth was the subject of our first Selfies post. We had seven entries including Lisbeth.

I have selected some past selfies of the ten Kitties Blue who have been part of the blog. If you didn’t know, there were ten other Kitties Blue before we started blogging.

Anyhoo, here’s the gang with their flashback selfies.

Kitties Blue and I want to thank everyone who has ever posted a selfie and joined our blog hop. We especially appreciate Canadian Cats, TomCat Commentary By Tim and 15 And Meowing. They have all been with us since week one and continue to hop!

We all thought it would be nice to have a celebration with a little cake and bubbly. Angels Fiona, Lily Olivia and Mau got a 24-hour pass to join us today, and I asked Mau to bake us one of his famous cakes. Cooper Murphy has turned into an exceptional baker, but I knew Mau would enjoy this opportunity.

It looks as if Mau has not lost his touch when it comes to baking gorgeous cakes. We suspect there are an abundance of birthday and anniversary parties at the RB.

Hopping Time

Once you have enjoyed your cake and champagne, Kitties Blue past and Kitties Blue present invite you to join our blog hop by posting your selfie. We are so grateful for your support and for following us and will continue hosting the hop as long as you keep coming back and entering.

Have a wonderful easy Sunday and thanks again for seven years!

BIRTHDAY & ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Commentathon

Today we are celebrating the first birthday of the newest member of the Kitties Blue family: Kizmet! This young lady has brought so much joy and laughter to our household. She is always getting into something and being a silly monkey.

On yesterday’s “The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky” post, we announced that in honor of Kizmet’s birthday we are having a commentathon. The proceeds will be donated to the Helen Woodward Animal Center (HWAC) to help support their orphan pets and programs. For each comment left on yesterday’s and today’s posts, Mom will be donating $1. The donation will go toward the purchase of votes for Kizmet in the Superhero Sidekicks Calendar Contest!  Kizmet began yesterday in 27th place in the contest. Thanks to the generosity of our friends, which we’ll tell you about tomorrow on our Thankful Thursday post, she is now in fifth place. You can find out more about the contest by clicking on the link to it or the link to Periwinkle and Stinky’s post.

Kizmet’s Birthday

To celebrate Kizmet’s birthday, Cooper Murphy made a cake and we all collaborated on making a card.

We hope you will all join us in wishing this little lady tomboy “monkey” a very happy birthday. And please invite all your friends to drop by and do the same. The more comments, the more dollars Mom will be sending to HWAC.

Astrid & Sampy’s Anniversary

From today forward, our household will be filled with two joyous celebrations on June 23, as Kizmet was born on Astrid and Sampy’s anniversary. This adorable couple exchanged vows in 2016 at the Blog Paws conference. If you’d like to see the original post, you can find it here: “Introducing the Newlyweds“.

Of course, we had Cooper Murphy make another cake, and we made them a card.

We are delighted that these two found each other. If you do not know Sampy, click on The Felines page from our menu.

To go with your cake, we have champagne and nip lemonade.

Thanks for joining us today for these memorable celebrations. And please don’t forget to ask your friends to stop by, so we can donate lots of money to HWAC.

Purrs and paw-pats, Kitties Blue

p.s. We have been very wordy today, but we are still joining the Wordless Wednesday blog hop at Comedy Plus.

SO MANY THANKFULS & THE FISHERMAN

Thankful Thursday

We are thankful that our mom re-roped our little cat perch. That may not sound like much, but it was pretty much torn to shreds.

Mom and Dad are happy for some warmer weather. They have been in the swim/spa twice and should be able to get in again for the next several days, as the temps are going to gradually reach the lower 90s.

Mom is happy she has finally gotten her Instagram account up and working again. She was able to post the photo of Cooper the Orange she posted here on Monday. If you don’t follow us on Instagram, you can find us at kitties.blue.

We all are happy Mom and Dad got to go out to celebrate their anniversary last night. After being locked down for so long, they deserved a night out.

In order to help them celebrate, after they got home, six of us piled on the bed with them. The only ones missing were Giulietta and Lisbeth.

Mom and Dad send their thanks to all who left anniversary wishes for them here and on Dad’s Facebook page.

Finally, we are thankful, as always, for those who follow and support us.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To participate, post for what you are thankful on your blog, and then click on Brian’s badge.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Now that we’ve told you our thankfuls, it is time for some poetry. As she does most Thursdays, Mom is participating in Teddy and Angel Sammy’s (Two Spoiled Cats) poetry challenge.

Here’s this week’s inspiration photo and our mom’s poem.

The Fisherman

Sun beaten and sea weary,
Long hours waiting for fish to bite.
Days and weeks away from home
Working to feed his large family.
Resigned to his solitary existence,
Knowing his life at sea will never end
Until he is laid to rest beneath the earth.

If you’d like to try your hand at writing some poetry, you can find the inspiration photo for next week by clicking on the poetry badge below.

While visiting Two Spoiled Cats, please make certain you read Angel Sammy’s poem. He transmits it to Teddy from the Bridge each week, and it is always a masterpiece.
