THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CCCXII

Annual Supply Run to the House of Black Cats

Stinky is fairly certain Periwinkle will arrive on time today, as she knows they have a big day ahead. They will be revisting Walter and all the black cats he cares for with supplies for the upcoming year. They stopped in last week to pick up his list and have a quick visit with the current residents.

Stinky is reviewing Walter’s list when he sees the teleportation tunnel begin to vibrate. He quickly runs to the opening just in tiime to catch Periwinkle as she tumbles out with a whoosh. As she usually is, Periwinkle is giggling. As she gasps to catch her breath, she says, “That was a particularly ticklish ride today!”

After several minutes of paw hugging, nuzzling and whisker kissing, Periwinkle speaks again, “I am really excited to be delivering supplies to Walter today, but my mom said you have a surprise for me. Am I going to get to meet the kittens your mom and dad are fostering?”

“Of course, but that is not the surprise. After we take care of our delivery, we’ll come back here for your surprise and to meet the kittens,” replies Stinky.

“Well, let’s get a move on then. You know I am not good about waiting,” exclaimed Periwinkle. She continues, “Are we airlifting the goodies again this year?”

“No, the logistics of that are so complicated. My dad rented a big truck for us and will drive us as he did a couple of years ago.”

“That sounds like a good plan. Is the truck loaded and ready to go?” asks Periwinkle.

Loading the Last of the Supplies

“I think my dad is finishing it up now. Let’s go check.”

Periwinkle runs up to Dad Tom and jumps into his arms. They share a big hug before Dad Tom puts Periwinkle into the truck’s cab.

Stinky, of course, climbs up on one of the pallets of supplies. “Please get down so I can finish loading everything,” requests Dad Tom. Stinky reluctantly gets down and joins Periwinkle in the truck’s cab.

“Do you remember, Stinky, when we first started delivering supplies to Walter? We used our wagons to take everything there.”

“Of course, I remember. Walter had fewer cats under his care, and using our wagons was sufficient. If we tried to do that now, it would take days.”

Arriving at the House of Black Cats

When the tabbies and Dad Tom arrive they head straight for the storage shed to unload.

While Stinky “helps” his dad, Periwinkle scampers up to the house to visit with all the kitties. She discovers that many of the cats present last year have been adopted, but lots of new kitties have arrived. Walter explains that after Halloween is over and Thanksgiving approaches, he tries to find homes for as many of his residents as possible to make room for others.

When Dad Tom and Stinky finish unloading and storing all the supplies, they join Periwinkle at the house.

Of course, Stinky climbs up on the roof to visit with the cats hanging out there. Periwinkle just rolls her eyes, and Dad Tom asks him to please go inside through one of the open windows.

Dad Tom then goes inside to tell Walter that they have brought a picnic for everyone and to ask him to help bring the food from the truck. While they are getting the picnic food together, Stinky and Periwinkle head outside to set up blankets. When finished they gather all the black kitties and lead them outside.

After their picnic and a nice long visit, it is time for Periwinkle, Stinky and Dad Tom to head home. They share paw hugs with Walter and all the other kitties and then head to the truck.

Both Periwinkle and Stinky fall asleep and don’t wake until they are back at Stinky’s house.

Meeting the Kittens

Dad Tom helps Periwinkle & Stinky from the truck cab, and Stinky immediately takes Periwinkle to visit the kittens.

“Stinky, these kittens are so adorable. Do you get to come down and play with them?”

“I haven’t and neither have any of the other Kitties Blue. Mom doesn’t want us to get upset by seeing so many little, squeaky interlopers. Lisbeth saw them in a PTU when Mom and Dad brought them upstairs for a bath. She freaked out and took off for the living room immediately.”

“Will your mom and dad keep one or two of them when they are old enough to be adopted?”

Stinky replies, “I have no idea. I think Mom asked when the kittens first got here if she could keep one. Dad didn’t answer her, and I don’t know if she still wants one. Do you think your mom would want one?”

“Wow, I don’t know. I would like another brother, but Mom’s been avoiding getting us one. I think I’ll ask her when I get home. Now that we have seen the kittens, do I get to find out about my surprise?”

Periwinkle’s Surprise

“Do you remember when we found out we won four Certificates of Excellence from the Cat Writers’ Association in this year’s contest?”

“Of course. Did we finally receive them?”

“We did, but that’s not the surprise. The CWA had their Awards Ceremony on Saturday night. We won our first Muse Medallion for “The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky: Part CCXX – National Answer Your Cat’s Question Day.”

“Oh wow, that is so cool. When will we get it?”

“I have no idea. But if it is okay, we will wait to share our COEs until the Muse arrives, and then we can show them all off together.”

“That’s okay with me. Did your Mom get any Muse awards this year?”

“She did. I think she’ll share about it on Thankful Thursday.”

Halloween Greetings

“Since Halloween is this Friday, I thought we should send Halloween greetings to all our friends and followers. Did you bring your costume?”

“Yep, should we get changed now?” asks Periwinkle. Stinky tells her that they should, and he heads to the bedroom to get his costume while Periwinkle changes into hers. Neither knows what the other has selected.

“Stinky, I am not certain I like our costumes this year. What do you think?” asks Periwinkle.

“Well, you are an adorable Cookie Monster. But I am not certain that I make a very good Spiderman.”

“I do think you are cuter in your own furs. That cap is sort of wonky. But, no matter how you look or what you are wearing, you are huggable, and I love you!”

Stinky blushes and gives Periwinkle a big hug and remarks, “Maybe we should go back to letting our mom’s select our costumes.”

“I agree.”

Finally it is time for Periwinkle to head home. She and Stinky spend lots of time paw hugging and whisker kissing. Then Periwinkle enters the teleportation tunnel and with a blown kiss and a whoosh she is gone.

Stinky retires to the bedroom, removes his costume and settles in for a nap and dreams of Periwinkle.

BOAT “JAM” & THANKFULS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

If it is Thursday, that means it is time for some poetry. Our pals from Two Spoiled Cats (Teddy and Angel Sammy) provide an inspiration photo and participants write a poem to accompany it.

Here’s the photo followed by my poem.

Boats are in a traffic jam on an Amsterdam canal.

Boat “Jam”

What were we thinking joining this parade?
We’re not moving, and there’s no shade!
Our water and snacks ran out hours ago.
I have to pee, there’s no place to “go.”
I’m tired, cold, “hangry” and bored.
People watching is now just a chore.
Do you think these boats could be stepping stones
to get us out of here and heading back home?

Thursday is poetry day at Two Spoiled Cats, and I try to play along whenever I can. Teddy and Angel Sammy provide an inspiration photo as a jumping off place, Here’s this week’s photo followed by my poem, which this week is only a haiku. I did not need any additional words to convey what I wanted to say.

Anybody home?
I’m feeling rather peckish.
Do you have some snacks?

TWO AMEOWZING ANNIVERSARIES

Our 13th Blogiversary

When the Kitties Blue and I set out on this amazing blogging adventure, we had no idea we would still be at it thirteen years later. That is longer than I held any paying job during my time as a worker bee. Maybe this endeavor has endured, as I have no one to answer to except the cats and those of you who visit and read our posts.

The Kitties

When this all began, Dad Tom and I were the human parents to seven cats: Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Astrid, Lisbeth, Giulietta and Fiona. Calista Jo joined us just three months later. Eight cats had come before this group, and Lily Olivia had known all but one of those. She continued to be the bridge between that group and the group that became known as Kitties Blue.

Fiona gained her angel wings in 2016 at just six years old, but the following year two more cats joined the group, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer, bringing our household to a total of nine demanding cats and two human servants. Unfortunately Lily Olivia left us in January of 2018. As the years went by we would also lose Giulietta, Mau and Misty May. And Kizmet, Raleigh and Audrey would join us. (If you are unfamiliar with any of our kitties past or present, check out The Felines page.)

So here we sit with eight Kitties Blue on this 13th blogoversary. During those years, Astrid and Mau would find and marry their soulmates, Sampy (also now an angel) and Allie (an angel along with Mau).

Periwinkle & Stinky

Logo for the Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky with two cartoon tabby cats.On October 8, 2019, I created and introduced two cartoon cats, Stinky and Periwinkle (the alter egos of Sawyer and his girlfriend Noelle [Friends Furever]), as we didn’t have enough cats to deal with already. Periwinkle/Noelle’s Mom Sharon and I began collaborating and sharing “The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky,” on alternate Tuesdays. Those crazy adventurous tabbies have been awarded numerous Certificates of Excellence from the Cat Writers’ Association. Tomorrow, they will share their 298th adventure right here.

Some Other Accomplishments

🐈 Just a couple of other facts before we move on. I began the Sunday Selfies blog hop on August 17, 2014, and yesterday was its 570th week.Cat Writers' Association Muse Medallion

🐈‍⬛ This is our 3,884th post.

🐾 And last October, The Cat on My Head received the Muse Medallion as Best Entertainment blog for 2023.

In celebration of this 13-year milestone, we will be having a giveaway, but more about that later.

Sawyer’s Second Gotcha Day Anniversary

Grey Manx tabby cat, Sawyer, returns from his walkabout.Sometimes events in our universe align themselves purrfectly, and that is what happened on July 21, 2021, when I brought Sawyer home after his three-and-a-half week walkabout. Sawyer found an opportunity to escape from the house on June 26. During the time he was missing, he managed to travel .9 miles from home and end up at the exact house from where Dad Tom and I adopted our very first cat, Skooter, in the mid-80s. So, we now celebrate two anniversaries every July 21st.

(If you are unfamiliar with the story of Sawyer’s walkabout and homecoming, you can read it in the book, Purrseverance, where it is published under the title, “Sawyer: The Lucky Cat.” (Check our sidebar for additional information.)

In celebration of this anniversary, we will be having a second giveaway.

Party Time

With all this talk about celebrating, I guess it is time to get down to it. When Mauricio was alive he became the official baker at Cat Scouts as well as for our blog. After Cooper Murphy joined Cat Scouts, Mau began teaching him the art of baking. When Mau became an angel, Cooper took over the baking responsibilities full-time. As we are celebrating two important occasions, Coop baked two cakes for today.

Anniversary Cake with four tiers and 10 cats.

Gotcha Day Anniversary cake with three tiers, stars and a grey tabby cat on the top.

We also have an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet as well as beverages and everyone’s favorite nip ice cream.

Seafood buffet

Beverages and ice cream.

Please enjoy and stay as long as you like.

Giveaway

To commemorate today, we are going to have a giveaway with three separate prizes. Each will have a little gift for the human and one for the cat(s) [or two for the human if the winner(s) does not share their home with a kitty]. To be entered, you only need to leave a comment on this post prior to noon on Thursday, July 24. Kitties Blue will use Random.org to select the three winners and announce the names on Friday.

What’s Coming Up

As mentioned earlier in this post, Periwinkle & Stinky will be here tomorrow sharing their next adventure. Then on Wednesday we will be celebrating another anniversary. It will be Angels Allie and Mau’s Ninth Wedding anniversary. Thursday will be our day for poetry and thankfuls. For Feline Friday, I plan to share news from this year’s roundup.

Awww Mondays

I had planned to share a Spark today, but will save it for next week. The kitties, however, will be participating in the Awww Mondays blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. To join our gang there, click on the Awww badge.

Thank you so much for celebrating with us today. Without those of you who visit and comment on our posts, Kitties Blue and I would have no reason to be here.

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CCXLIV

A Sunday Adventure

Stinky was super excited for his adventure with Periwinkle. It wasn’t because of their destination, but rather that he would be seeing Periwinkle two days sooner than usual. The adventure he had planned would no longer be available on Tuesday, which was the day when they normally got together. Instead, Periwinkle would be arriving in the early evening on Sunday. And Periwinkle’s mom had given Periwinkle permission to stay over, as they would be arriving home sometime around 11 p.m. Periwinkle rarely was able to stay over, so that made this adventure special as well.

Stinky wasn’t too happy about the fact they would be traveling with his dad. It was actually supposed to be both his dad and mom. But Stinky’s mom was super tired from a long car trip on Saturday and decided she would stay home.

So, Stinky was waiting by the teleportation tunnel when, with a whoosh, Periwinkle came tumbling out right on time. She was super excited to see him, and they spent several minutes paw hugging and whisker kissing.

COEs for the Tabbies

Stinky was waiting for the inevitable question from Periwinkle regarding their destination. But she didn’t ask. Instead, she started bouncing from paw to paw and said, “Stinky, my mom told me that we received more Certificates of Excellence from the Cat Writers’ Association. That is so exciting. What adventures did they like?”

Stinky replied, “Our certificates just came in the mail. We got four this year. They were for Adventure CLXXVIII – Pi Day, Adventure CLXXXI – National Pet First Aid Awareness Month, Adventure CLXXXII – National Pet Day and Adventure CCX – Date Night. Mom said we can have our photos taken with them when we get back to my house.”

“That is so exciting, Stinky. When will we find out if we win a Muse Medallion?” Periwinkle asked.

“Not until the end of October, and we shouldn’t get our hopes up. Mom says that the categories we are in are packed with other COE recipients. But we are also entered in two of the Special Categories. Unfortunately winners of those also are not announced until October,” Stinky told Periwinkle.

“Wow, that is really a long time to wait, but I guess we can nap a lot between now and then,” Periwinkle replied.

On the Road

Stinky giggled, took Periwinkle’s paw and led her to the garage. Periwinkle gave him a quizzical look, but didn’t ask what was happening. Stinky’s dad was waiting for them, opened the door to the back seat and buckled them into their seat belts. Once they were settled, Dad Tom got in the car and they headed off.

Stinky couldn’t believe that Periwinkle still hadn’t asked about their destination. Finally, he said, “Aren’t you curious about where we are going or why we aren’t teleporting?”

Stinky was surprised by her reply, “No, sometimes I like to be surprised, and I am certain it will be fun. You never plan bad adventures.”

Stinky was gobsmacked, so shook his head and gave her a wink and smile. Then he took her paw, and they settled in for the ride, which took about an hour. The tabbies fell asleep and didn’t wake until the car stopped.

When Periwinkle looked out the window, she began to squeal and applaud. “Oh, Stinky, we’ve come back to see the balloons again. I loved our previous balloon adventure. We have never come in the evening before. Do they fly when it is dark?”

“No, but they do something even better,” Stinky replied. Periwinkle once again gave him a quizzical look, but Stinky didn’t tell her anything more.

The two tabbies unhooked their seat belts and jumped out of the car and sprinted toward the balloons. When Dad Tom finally caught up to them, Periwinkle was afraid they were going to be scolded, but Dad Tom didn’t say anything. Instead, he began to set up a bunch of equipment so he could take photographs. He explained to Periwinkle that what they were going to see was called, “Night Glow,” and that he’d never seen one before, so he tagged along on their adventure to take some photos. He promised not to hover around them.

Night Glow

With that said, the tabbies took off to explore and inspect the balloons. As they were walking around Periwinkle and Stinky were recognized from their previous visit to the festival, and several people gave them hugs and told them how happy they were to see them. That made both tabbies blush.

The tabbies walked around checking out the balloons waiting for it to get dark.

“Wow, Stinky, this glow thing is really fantastic,” gushed Periwinkle.

“Stinky, the balloon that looks like a Dalmatian wearing a backwards baseball cap is so funny,” exclaimed Periwinkle. Stinky agreed, and took Periwinkle to see a couple of the balloons up close.

Even though tethered rides were not being offered, the tabbies were able to get into one of the balloon baskets. Both decided it was too hot to stay long as they didn’t have the breeze that came with flying in the balloon.

Stinky’s dad found them in the balloon basket and told them it was getting late and time to head home. The tabbies jumped out and followed Dad Tom to the car for the ride home.

Showing off Their COEs

Periwinkle & Stinky napped on the way home. When they arrived, Stinky and Periwinkle got their COEs, and Stinky’s mom took their photo. Afterward, she added a snazzy background. Then Periwinkle said, “Stinky, I am so embarrassed. I forgot to ask if your mom got any COEs. I sure hope she did.”

“Yes, she got one for Best Entertainment Blog. She got one for that last year as well. She is the only blog this year with a COE in that category, so maybe she’ll win a medallion.”

“Stinky that would be so cool,” replied Periwinkle.

As it was very late, Stinky’s mom fixed the tabbies a snack before sending them off to bed.

The End

DANCE LESSON & THANKFULS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Today is the day when I write a poem based on an inspiration photo provided by our friends from Two Spoiled Cats, Angel Sammy and Teddy. As usual, they have provided a pretty silly photo. My poem this week is not my best work, but that happens sometimes.

Dance lesson thankfuls: Two polar bears standing on hind legs and dancing.

Dance Lesson

Okay….now just follow me
but be careful not to step on my toes.
Step to the left with your left paw.
Now, bring your right paw to it.
Step back with your left paw and
take your right paw back to it.
Try not to look at your feet…look at me.
Step right with your right paw and
bring your left paw to meet it.
Forward with your right then followed
by your left paw coming up to meet it.
This is what’s called the box step.
Yes, it is a bit simple and boring,
but we must start with the basics.
Yes, I promise, by the time the snow melts,
we will be ready to dance at our wedding.
Now, let’s begin again, step left…

Thankful Thursday

Thursday is also the day we share the things for which we are thankful and then join Angel Brian’s blog hop.

The past two weeks, there were five first commenters on the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats. This week, there was only one, and that one person was me. I got this cute badge.

I have been getting up extra early to watch Le Tour de France, which is why I was their waiting when the doors to Teaser School opened.

Speaking of Le Tour de France, Sawyer and I have a thankful where it is concerned. Yesterday, sprinter and Astana team member, Mark Cavendish, won Stage Five of this year’s tour. It was his 35th stage win, which breaks the record of 34 stage wins held by Cavendish and bike racer, Eddie Merckx. Mark, also known as the Manx Missile, is from the Isle of Mann. That’s where Sawyer’s ancestors are from. I’m a big fan of Cavendish and Manx cats.

Finally, my last thankful is a biggie. I just found out last night that I received five Certificates of Excellence from the Cat Writers’ Association in this year’s CWA Contest. Four were for posts in The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky series and one for Best Entertainment blog. I have two entries in the Special Categories portion of the Contest, but those recipients will not be announced until October. I will share additional information when the certificates arrive.

Sawyer and Stinky both have thankfuls as well. Sawyer is thankful for his birthday gift from his girlfriend Noelle (Friends Furever). I have set up his gift but have no photos yet, as Sawyer and the other Kitties Blue are not to certain what to make of it. So, more information will be coming about that in a subsequent post. Sawyer also sends out thanks to everyone who left good wishes for him on his birthday post.

Stinky is thankful for the birthday celebration Periwinkle had for him during their most recent adventure.

FRIGHTENED FIDO 🐶 & THANKFULS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Cooper Murphy asked if he could join this week’s poetry inspiration photo provided by Teddy and Angel Sammy from Two Spoiled Cats. How could I refuse? He blended in purrfectly. And he has just enough cattitude to pen the cheeky poem below.

Frightened Fido 🐶: A golden furred puppy is afraid of a golden colored dog toy while a ginger cat looks on.

Frightened Fido 🐶

That puppy sure is silly—
Afraid of his doggy toy.
It made one little squeak,
And that canine totally freaked.
If he’d stand aside, I would
Show him how it’s done.
I’d bunny kick that thing
‘Til it cried, “uncle.” and was
Covered with my kitty spit.
Then it would be all mine!
Frightened fido would need to find a
New toy that wouldn’t terrify him.
I’d call him a scaredy cat,
But that would probably be derisive!

If you’d like to join in the fun of writing poetry, click on Angel Sammy’s poetry badge. That will take you over to Two Spoiled Cats where you can find next week’s inspiration photo. You’ll also be able to check out Angel Sammy’s poem for this week. He transmits it to Teddy each week from the Rainbow Bridge, and in our opinion, it always deserves an A+.

Thankful Thursday

Kitties Blue and I have several thankfuls to share with you this week.

I am thankful that the hummingbirds have finally returned. In the more rural areas in the around here, they appear in April. In our  section of the city, they never show up until July. We’ve only had one male and one female Ruby Throated hummer. I hope more will appear before fall.

All the Kitties Blue what to thank everyone who joined us for the celebrations we had this week.

  • Our 11th Blogoversary
  • Angels Mau and Allie’s 7th Anniversary
  • Sawyer’s 2nd Anniversary of His 2nd Gotcha Day
  • Raleigh and Audrey’s 1st Gotcha Day

Sawyer is thankful for his CWA Certificate of Excellence. He received his in the same category as Audrey and Raleigh, Photography (Series). His win was for “Post-Seizure Selfies.”

That means they will be competing against each other for the Muse Medallion.

All the Kitties Blue and I are especially thankful for our last COE. The Cat on My Head was one of only two blogs recognized in the Blog/Website: Entertainment category.

As always, we are thankful for each of you who visit, support and comment on our posts.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To join, post on your blog for what you are thankful and then click on the badge below to link up.

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CXCIV

Stinky is even more enthusiastic than usual to see Periwinkle, as he can’t wait to get started on today’s adventure. He is taking Periwinkle to a place that his parents visited some years before he was born. They told him all about it, and it sounded too exciting to pass up. He doesn’t have long to wait for Periwinkle, as she comes tumbling out of the teleportation tunnel right on time. Hearing its familiar whoosh, Stinky is there to catch her and wrap her up in a big paw hug. Periwinkle hugs him back and they share some whisker kisses.

Stinky, however, doesn’t even give her time to catch her breath before he leads her back into the tunnel.

Quebec, Canada

Moments later, they arrive at their destination, which Periwinkle doesn’t recognize. She immediately asks, “Where are we Stinky?”

“We are in Quebec, Canada. It is so hot both in Florida and Virginia, I wanted to come someplace a bit cooer. It is forecast to be 75 degrees Fahrenheit today.”

“That sounds really nice. What are we going to do?”

“We are going to travel from Saguenay-St-Lawrence Marine Park to Baie-Sainte-Catherine (St. Catherine’s Bay) and go whale watching,” Stinky tells her.

“Oh, wow, that will be so exciting,” replies Periwinkle.

Whale Watching

“My parents went on a Whale Watching Cruise on a large boat, but we are going to take a Zodiac Whale Watching Tour.” Just as Stinky finishes telling Periwinkle this, their boat arrives with a few passengers already on board. The guide hands them lifejackets, which they quickly put on, and then they hop on board.

Periwinkle can barely hide her excitement as they set out. They pick up some additional passengers and then see their first whale. Periwinkle squeals and claps her paws together. The guide tells them it is a juvenile humpback.

Periwinkle asks, “Can you tell us more about the juvenile whales?”

Humpback whale back.

Humpback Whale Facts

The guide tells Periwinkle and Stinky that humpback whales are juveniles until they reach sexual maturity at between six and 10 years of age. Newborn humpbacks weigh about one ton and are 10 to 16 feet in length. Males at reproductive age are between 39 and 52 feet in length. Females measure around 45 to 49 feet. They however can grow to 59 feet.

Humpback whale back.

Periwinkle sees Stinky staring intently at the back of the nearby whale and grabs the back of his lifejacket. “Don’t you get ideas, Mr. Daredevil. If you make a leap to get on that whales back, you will end up as fish food, and I will never speak to you again.”

Chastised, Stinky steps back. As he is doing that, Periwinkle shouts, “Look, Stinky, it is the whale’s tail!”

The guide tells the tabbies that a whale’s tale is called a fluke. They both giggle, finding the word very funny.

As they watch open mouthed, the whale lifts its fluke even further out of the water.

Before the tour ends, the guide apologizes that they didn’t get to see a whale breaching the water. She also tells the passengers that humpback whales grow up to 60 feet long and weigh 80,000 pounds. They can live for 80 to 90 years.

On the way back to shore, the guide serves a little snack. Periwinkle and Stinky are surprised by the variety of cat treats offered.

When they arrive back on shore, Periwinkle and Stinky hand back their lifejackets and head for the teleportation tunnel. Moments after entering, they arrive back at Stinky’s house.

A Surprise for Periwinkle

Stinky asks Periwinkle to close her eyes, so he can fetch something to share with her. When he returns, Stinky shouts, “Surprise,” and tells Periwinkle to open her eyes.

“When she sees what he has, she claps her paws together and squeals, “Oh, Stinky, those are our Certificates Of Excellence from the Cat Writers’ Association. You didn’t tell me they had arrived. Can we take our photo with them and show all our readers?”

“Of course, that was my plan,” Stinky tells her.

“For which Adventures did we earn our certificates, Stinky?” asks Periwinkle.

Stinky tells her the following:

“The COE in the category WRITTEN ARTICLE: ENTERTAINMENT – SHORT was for our adventure where we helped my mom get ready for Christmas when she had COVID.”

The COE in the category COLUMN/SERIES was for three of our adventures. They are the ones where we visited Tortola BVI, the Balloons Over Rockbridge, Virginia, Festival and our Playdate with the Kittens.”

“Stinky, those were all terrific adventures! I know I really enjoyed each of them. I sure hope we win a Muse Medallion for at least one of our entries.”

“Periwinkle, we should just be happy that we were recognized,” Stinky tells her.

“Of course, you’re right. Sadly, I guess it is time for me to head home. I sure had fun today. You always plan the best adventures.”

“Thanks, Periwinkle.”

The tabbies spend several minutes paw hugging and whisker kissing. Then Periwinkle enters the teleportation tunnel and with a wave an a whoosh is gone. Stinky retires to the catio for a catnap and dreams of Periwinkle.

The End

SOME MIGHTY HUGE THANKFULS

Thankful Thursday

We have a variety of mighty huge thankfuls this week for Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop.

Kitties Blue may not be thankful for the following, but Dad Tom and I are grateful for the opportunity to look after these two munchkins.

huge thankfuls: two tabby kittens wrapped in a colorful towel.

If you visited our Wordless Wednesday post, you already got a glimpse of these two. Meet No Name #1 (male buff/orange tabby) and No Name #2 (female brown tabby). They arrived here Tuesday evening after I agreed to take them from a friend. I’m fairly certain you are wondering if they are joining the Kitties Blue crew. At this time, that is not the plan, which is why they are unnamed. But only time will tell.

They have not met the Kitties Blue but all are aware of the others. #1 and #2 have a vet appointment tomorrow afternoon. Depending on how that goes will determine if they will be allowed to interact with the permanent residents.

Sawyer actually has the biggest and best thankful of the week. He hasn’t had a seizure in seven weeks! I’m always delighted when the time between seizures is extensive, but it also causes me to be on high alert in anticipation of one.

Stinky and Periwinkle told you that the Cat Writers’ Association awarded them Certificates of Excellence for two of their adventures. If you missed that post and would like to know which adventures received recognition, you can do that at “Happy Tuesday Announcement from Periwinkle & Stinky.” In addition to those C0Es, I am thankful for receiving two others: one for a photo of Kizmet, which you can see at “Krazy Kitten Kizmet’s Toesies & Tailio“and one for a post remembering Giulietta, “Thankful for 11 Years.”

Finally, we are, of course, thankful for your support, following and friendship. It means the world to us.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

I must apologize to our wonderful friends, Teddy and Angel Sammy (Two Spoiled Cats), for not writing a poem today. I may try to have one for you and them tomorrow, but I am not making any promises. Along with kitten caregiving, I have three additional projects in the works. But please do not let the lack of my writing a poem stop you from visiting Two Spoiled Cats. Angel Sammy is a masterful poet, and his poems are always worth reading. Click on his badge to visit now.

See y’all tomorrow.

HAPPY TUESDAY ANNOUNCEMENT FROM PERIWINKLE & STINKY

A Surprise Visit

Periwinkle tumbles from the teleportation tunnel with a confused expression on her face. As Stinky is helping her up, she asks, “Stinky, what am I doing here? I thought our adventure isn’t happening until Thursday. And why are we dressed in our fancy clothes?”

Stinky happily tells her, “We have a big announcement to make, and if we make it today, we also can remind our readers to come back Thursday for our adventure.”

“So what are we announcing?”

The Announcement

“For the third year in a row, my mom entered us in the Cat Writers’ Association Annual Contest. And we received two Certificates of Excellence in the Short Form – Fiction Category. She entered ‘The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky: Part LXXXI,’ which is when we visited the eagles on the Discover the James’ Bald Eagle Tour.

“Oh, Stinky, that was a really great adventure. Some of those birds were bigger than we are. What was the second adventure for which we were recognized?”

“It’s for when we went on our fishing trip with Cooper Murphy and Tyebe, ‘The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky: Part LXXVII,’” Stinky tells Periwinkle.

Periwinkle claps and hops up and down. “I loved that we could share that adventure with your brofur, Cooper, and his girlfriend. I’m really happy the judges also enjoyed it! Did your mom get any additional certificates?”

“Yes, she did. But I’ll let her mention it in a different post,” Stinky replies.

“Stinky, This has been so much fun to let everybody know about our certificates, but I am really looking forward to our adventure on Thursday. It is going be epic.”

Stinky gives Periwinkle a huge paw hug and agrees with her. As the tabbies have completed their announcement, it’s time for Periwinkle to teleport home and rest up for Thursday. Periwinkle and Stinky share lots of whisker kisses and say their good-byes. Periwinkle enters the teleportation tunnel, gives Stinky a final wave and is gone in a whoosh.
