Blogoversary

BLOGOVERSARY THANK YOUS AND WINNERS

THANK YOUS

The kitties and I would like to offer our sincere thanks to all of you who visited and commented on our Blogoversary post. We far surpassed our goal of 50 comments by receiving 87. Yippee! Some of those were the result of both Glogirly and Kitty Cat Chronicles mentioning our celebration on social media. What excellent friends they are to do this for us. We even received some new subscriptions to our blog that day. That always makes us excited to know that someone has read our blog and likes it well enough to want to read it regularly.

We are sending an extra special thank you to our dearest friend, Sammy from onespoiledcat, for the terrific card he sent us. The poem is so cute, and Misty May and I like how we are the cat and person in the moon.

WINNERS

We know most of you are here to see if you won the book, Sal Everybody’s Palor the fountain. We wish we could have a prize for each of you; but alas, that would mean the kitties’ dad and I couldn’t buy cat food for the next couple of years.

We used Random.org to select the winners by entering numbers 1 through 86 in their random number generator. Though we had 87 comments, two were from Kitty Cat Chronicles. The book is going all the way to to New Zealand to the kitties at Dash Kitten. (If you would like to purchase a copy of this beautiful book, click on the title above to be taken to Sal’s website.)

The fountain was won by The Whiskeratti Cats, Toby and Leia. According to their human, they will not drink from a fountain, and so they have gifted their prize to the kitties at Jan’s Funny Farm.

I will be sending the gifts out at the beginning of the week with one to The Whiskeratti Cats as well to show them how much I appreciate their generosity.

So that’s it for our 2nd Blogoversary. We had a terrific time celebrating and once again thank all of those who visited. Without your kindness, friendship and support, we would not have reached this milestone.

Please join us tomorrow as we participate in Athena and Marie’s Caturday Art Blog Hop.

OUR BLOGOVERSARY AND A GIVEWAY

Welcome to Kitties Blue

2nd Blogoversary

When Kitties Blue and I began this blog two years ago we had no idea what we were doing. We received some basic instructions on how to use WordPress by our web-site designer and then were set loose to make our mark in the blogosphere. For our first 36 posts, our commenters consisted of one to a handful of friends. With our 37th post, “Scary Cat” on Halloween Wordless Wednesday 2012 we received three comments from individuals we didn’t know. It wasn’t until November 27, 2012, that we received comments from two individuals who still comment occasionally.

It was just last month when our legitimate comments surpassed our spam comments in number received. As of Sunday evening, we had received 10,153 valid comments. And if you were with us yesterday, you know that today marks our 401st post.

One goal I have for the blog which we have yet to achieve—receiving 50 comments on a post. Maybe today will be our lucky day.

blogoversaryWe were going to hang some streamers to celebrate, but Giulietta had other things in mind and refused to let go of them. With that in mind, we will just have to proceed to a special award for all our followers and our giveaway.

Without those of you who have befriended us during the last two years we either would have given up this project or been foundering  untethered somewhere in space. It is with our sincere and heartfelt appreciation that we made a little something for all of you. It is an award, but it comes with NO rules. We would be honored if you would display it on your blog and link to us, but that is up to each of you. We want to thank Nellie  (Cat from Hell The Thoughts and Mewsings of Nellie in the City) for designing this cool badge that we used to create the award.

And now for the fun part—our giveaway. We have two items and you only need to leave a comment prior to Thursday morning (July 24) at 8 a.m. EDT to be in the drawing. The first is for an autographed copy of the book, Sal Everybody’s Pal, which we reviewed recently. If you click on the book name, you can read the review and see some of the exquisite illustrations from the book. This giveaway is open to all readers.

Drinkwell-Original-Pet-Fountain blogoversaryThe second item we will be giving away is this new Drinkwell Fountain. This giveaway is open to U.S. residents only.

Winners will be determined by using Random.org.

free_lemonade blogoversarySo it seems we we should finally get this party started. Today we are serving catnip cupcakes and lemonade. Please help yourselves and enjoy.

And once again, thank you so much for following us. We hope you will continue to do so in the future.

With purrs and paw-pats from Kitties Blue and hugs from me, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Janet

BLOGOVERSARY WRAP-UP AND PRIZES

Being brought up as a good, part-Irish, Catholic, young lady, my mother instilled in me the need to feel guilty about everything! So, I realized that the very beautiful award that the kitties made for me, and which I passed on, left out way too many of our bloggy friends. With this in mind, I created a badge to commemorate the day. If you came by to visit that day or in the subsequent days and are so inclined to display such things, here it is. Even if you received the Multi-Cat Blog Award, you are welcome to display this as well.

My mother also taught me to say please and thank you. So, here is a GIANT-SIZED THANK YOU to all who did stop by. Your comments were so complimentary and encouraging that I know I must continue to write about all of our past, current and future felines. As another way to say thank you, either the kitties or I have responded individually to each comment. I normally do not do this, but thought this occasion warranted me telling each of you how much I appreciate you. Of course, as I have been hogging the computer, this has left the kitties terribly behind on commenting on all of your posts. They do continue to make the rounds as best they can and ask you to forgive them if they miss a day or two.

Now on to the pawty report.

Prior to everyone arriving, we had a few quality assurance checks to perform. As Lily is not much of a pawty animal, she volunteered to check out the nip.

The nip wasn’t the only thing tested prior to the arrival of our guests. Just about all of the meowmates had to try out their newest toy: Cat’s Meow. (By the way, this is the prize that will be awarded to one of those giving me the name(s) of legitimate multi-cat blog(s) that I had overlooked. A few more goodies will be added.)

The kitties and I stumbled onto another multi-cat blog a couple of days ago. They have nine stunning kitties and the blog is called, Catmumdo. They are another blog from the U.K. I let them know that they were entitled to the award, and they nicely left us a comment on the blogoversary post. Of course, my greedy kitties wanted to know if that entitled them to a contest entry. In one word, “NO!” A word they claim not to understand.

Besides playing with the Cat’s Meow and other toys and donning some of Sammy’s (onespoiledcat) special costumes which he generously brought along to the party, we had a floor show. No self-respecting blogoversary should be without a floor show. An indulging squirrel agreed to perform with the promise of extra sunflower seeds. Though the photos did not turn out very well as he was steadfast in his demand that he must remain outside the catio, the kitties still begged me to share one.

I had absolutely no idea how much kitties like bacon, as I have never served it to any of my cats past or present. As I pretty much spent all day in the kitchen cooking the bacon, I have decided that for next year’s blogoversary pawty I will roast a pig (or two if necessary). Maybe we’ll have a luau theme next year.

On to the prizes. I know that’s why most of you are here today.

The winner of the Grand Prize Cat’s Meow as selected by Random.org is: Cathy Keisha from Stunning Keisha. With only four entries and Cathy Keisha having two (one she suggested was disqualified for not posting since November 2012), her chances of winning were pretty good.

The others who were in this drawing were Sparkle the Designer Cat and Team Tabby. As neither one won the Grand Prize, each was placed in the drawing for the second prize.

The winner of the random drawing from all those who left a comment prior to midnight the 24th (determined by Random.org) is: Banjo at Corner of a Cat’s Mind. Banjo will have to wait until his prize arrives to see what he gets.

The multi-cat blogs suggested for our blogoversary award were:

Cheshire Loves Karma  The Bassie Bulletin  Mickey’s Musings ♥ Pikku Punapippuri Catmumdo

I am currently working on notifying the new recipients of the Multi-Cat Blog Award as well as the prize winners.

Thanks so much to all the kitties who attended our pawty and all who entered our drawing by leaving a comment. The kitties and I are blessed to have made so many friends in the past year. Please don’t forget to take your badge.

OUR FIRST BLOGOVERSARY

So, we finally made it! Our very first blogoversary. Our first post was one year ago today! This is our 170th. We are particularly excited because our very dear friend, Sammy, and his mom, Pam, from onespoiledcat sent us the most beautiful anniversary card. Isn’t it fabulous! We love how Sammy and Misty May are wearing party hats.

Image 6

We are so proud of our short-attention-span mom for what she has accomplished in the past year that we wanted to give her an award. It is a little further down the page ’cause we don’t want it to compete with Sammy’s card.

As our mom is very generous, she asked us if she could pass this on to some of her cat blogging friends. How could we refuse? It is our gift to her, and she is free to gift it to others as long as she keeps one for herself. She also asked if she could make the very minimal rules for passing this on. Of course, we said, “yes,” again.

She is passing this on to blogs featuring five or more kitties. She figures that anyone taking care of at least that many feline fur people as well as writing a blog must be a true multi-tasker and so needs this award. She knows that some of those folks even have “real” jobs, husbands, children, dogs and other pets as well as other blogs. And some of them even post everyday!

blogoversary.awardThis is the award we designed and presented to her for our blogoversary. Do you like how it has our mug shots?

Her only requirements for her recipients (if they accept the award) are:  Post it on their site, thank us kitties and link back to our site.

Without further ado, here are her recipients:

Jacqueline’s Cat House  Katnip Lounge    The Chronicles of Zee and Zoey    Colehaus Cats    Brian’s Home    Random Felines Furries of Whisppy ♥ Purrchance to Dream    fourwhitepaws  ♥  Critters in the Cottage   Cats of Wildcat Woods  Margs Animals  Tomcat Commentary by Timmy  Nerissa’s Life  Da Tabbies O Trout Towne  The REAL Maple Syrup Mob  on a more personal note  Cat’s Cats: The Fab Five  Lilacs & Cats  Tails from the Foster Kittens  ManxMnews  The Creative Cat Sometimes Cats Herd You ♥ Jan’s Funny Farm ♥ Cory Cat Blog ♥ HotMBC ♥

Mom wants to meet, follow and share in the joys as well as the trials and tribulations of as many of the brave multi-cat caregivers and their furry families as she can. And she’d love to pass this award on to other current (active and posting with at least one post in July) blogs having five or more kitties that she has not listed. (She realizes that she, by no means, has visited every kitty blog in this past year and will undoubtedly miss some with a house full of felines.)

So if you know of such blogs, she would appreciate it if you would list their URL in a comment. Those of you doing so will be entered in a random drawing for a surprise gift. The more current multi-cat blog URLs you list, the more chances you have to win. Those you list, however, must not have been listed in a previous comment.

All others coming over to pawty and leaving a comment will be entered in a second random drawing for a prize.

To be eligible for prizes, commenters must live in the U.S. or Canada and leave their comment no later than midnight EDT on July 24.

So finally…let’s get this pawty started. We’ve got games, full bird feeders, catnip and plenty of other noms. And especially for Sammy, as thanks for our beautiful card and because he is bringing his special trunk of costumes so we can all play dress up, we’ve got BACON!

Before we go, however, Mom wants to say something. I am so appreciative of the wonderful, caring and compassionate community of bloggers who feature their fur people in their blogs. I had no idea how many friends and kindred spirits I would find who would actually be interested in reading my blog, offering help and suggestions and leaving comments. My heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. I look forward to writing this blog and reading all your imaginative, inspiring, intriguing and informative blogs for years to come. – Janet

Purrs and hugs to our mom, our followers and all her award recipients, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
