Sawyer & Noelle

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CCCL

The Arrival of Periwinkle & Another Kitty

Stinky waits by the teleportation tunnel for Periwinkle. She is always punctual, so he knows he won’t have to wait long. Moments later, the teleportation tunnel begins to vibrate. Periwinkle tumbles out with the familiar whoosh. Before Stinky can set her upright, Noelle tumbles out behind her. Periwinkle is only slightly surprised to see her.

“Stinky, I was fairly certain I knew what you had planned for today, but now that I see Noelle, I know I am right.”

“Well, you are a really smart kitty, so I am not surprised you figured it out. We will be celebrating the anniversary of Angel Sawyer’s second Gotcha Day … the day that our Mom rescued him from his three-and-a-half week walkabout.”

“I am happy that you continue to remember that all important day when Sawyer came home. It truly was a miracle and a relief that he was unharmed,” states Noelle.

“Mom said we could do something today we have not done in the past.”

“Oh, I love a surprise, what is it?” asks Periwinkle.

Giveaway

“We are going to give away two copies of Purrseverance. The winners will be able to read Sawyer’s story as well as that of many of their other friends.”

“That is a super idea. What will readers need to do to win?”

“Just leave a comment on this post before midnight ET on Friday. Mom will use Random.org to select the winners.”

“I know this is a special day for another reason as well,“ says Periwinkle.

“That’s right, it is the fourteenth blogoversary of The Cat on My Head.”

Reminiscing

“It really is a strange coincidence that your mom brought Sawyer home on the anniversary of the blog,” replies Periwinkle.

“I know, and that is not the only unusual occurrence. The person who found Sawyer and snapped his photo lived in the house where Mom and Dad adopted their first kitty, Skooter. A friend of Mom’s lived there in the 80s.”

“He was obviously meant to come home. It is just too bad it took so long,” says Periwinkle.

“I know. That was extra time we all would have loved to have had with him. Mom thinks about him constantly and how much joy and sorrow he brought to our family.”

“So, what are we going to do today besides the give away?”

“That is a very good question?” As Sawyer’s birthday was just three weeks ago, Mom did a post for him then,” replies Stinky.

“Yes, but that was a party. She hasn’t shared photos since she let everyone know he went to the Rainbow Bridge,” interjects Noelle.

“She’s right, Stinky. We should find some photos your mom didn’t share back then, and make a couple more scrapbook pages for him.”

Scrapbooking

“Sure, we are really good at that. I will gather the supplies.”

After Stinky gathers what they need, the three cats get busy selecting some photos. “Lots of these, I don’t remember,” declares Stinky.

“He was such a cutie pie,” says Noelle with a tear in her eye.

“Indeed he was,” agrees Stinky and adds, “We all used to giggle at him when he looked like he was hopping like a bunny. Being a Manx cat, his back legs were longer than his front. Mom says, when she pictures him in her mind, most times that is how she sees him. She thinks his tailless butt was super cute.”

“I’ll agree with that,” says Noelle with a giggle.

“Noelle, I think you should be the first to share the page you made,” says Periwinkle.

“Thanks, I would like to go first. I miss Sawyer so very much.”

“That is so sweet, Noelle,” exclaims Periwinkle as she gives Noelle a hug. “Stinky, is it okay if I go next?”

“Of course.”

“That’s beautiful, Periwinkle,” Stinky says. “I guess it is my turn.”

“I am feeling very sad, now,” states Noelle.

“Oh, I think we all are,” Periwinkle tells her.

“I think I can cheer us all up. Cooper Murphy has baked some cakes—one in memory of Angel Sawyer and one to celebrate the blog’s 14th anniversary. We have beverages to share as well,” Stinky tells Periwinkle and Noelle.

A Celebration Cake and a Remembrance Cake

“As usual, Cooper Murphy has outdone himself,” Noelle exclaims.

“Let’s get all my fursibs together to celebrate the blogoversary and remember Sawyer. He was special, and I know we all wish he was still with us,” suggests Periwinkle.

Stinky goes in search of all the Kitties Blue and they join he, Noelle and Periwinkle for some cake, beverages and a group photo.

Finally, it is time for Noelle and Periwinkle to head home. Noelle thanks Stinky for including her in the remembrance for Angel Sawyer and the blogoversary celebration. She then heads into the teleportation tunnel for the trip home so Periwinkle and Stinky can spend some time together.

The two tabbies spend several minutes paw hugging, whisker kissing, and saying, “I love you,” to each other.  Then Periwinkle enters the teleportation tunnel and with a wave and blown kiss is gone in a whoosh.

Stinky heads to the kitchen to clean up their craft supplies and then finds a nice sunpuddle for a nap and dreams of Periwinkle.

The End

The tabbies, all the Kitties Blue and Noelle will be joining the Happy Tuesday blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. If you would like to do the same, click on the Happy badge.

A BUSY & WORDY WEDNESDAY

Bad Mom

I have tried to explain to the kitties that moms do not always get everything right! They are, however, less than understanding! I really cannot blame them, as they depend on their human moms and dads for everything. That includes celebrating birthdays and other special days. I forgot two very important celebrations that should have occurred on Monday, which is why this is going to be a rather wordy post.

Belated Birthday

Monday was Noelle and Periwinkle’s eighth birthday. Granted we are only a couple of days late, but nonetheless it is all my fault. I am certain if Sawyer and Stinky had been able to remind me, they would have.

If Noelle and Periwinkle are anything like my friends and me, I am relatively certain they will not mind being feted again today. The boys have made them a card and Cooper Murphy has helped them bake a cake.

A pink birthday cake with red and pink hearts, two grey cartoon cats, pink bows and a heart on top that says, "Love." The cake says, "Happy Birthday Noelle & Periwinkle."

Even if you celebrated with Noelle and Periwinkle on their blog, Friends Furever, we definitely hope you will take a few minutes out of your busy day to celebrate again with a piece of cake, some nip ice cream and some beverages.

🎂 Noelle and Periwinkle, we love you very, very much, and we
hope you enjoy these belated festivities, Sawyer and Stinky 🎂

Ginger Cat Appreciation Day

Ginger Cat Appreciation Day badge.
Even having two ginger kitties did not help me remember their special day on Monday. I am fairly certain Raleigh didn’t care. As long as we feed him and leave him alone, he’s a relatively happy camper. Cooper Murphy is much more demanding but is unaware of my faux pas. They did enjoy a nice day on the catio with a bit of bird watching.

Two ginger tabby cats watching a bird.

The bird is on the roof, and Raleigh has it in his sights. Cooper had been watching prior to Dad Tom taking this photo. When I checked on them, Raleigh was whacking Cooper on the head. Even when it is a special day, boys will be boys.

I did make a little cake for them. It would not have been fair to Cooper if he had to bake one for himself. He maybe should appoint an assistant, like Mau did with him back when they were Cat Scouts. Anyhoo, there can never be too much cake.

Though we had plenty of words today, Kitties Blue still plan to join the Wordless Wednesday blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. If you would like to join them there, click on the WW badge.

Thanks for joining us today. Hope you had fun.

HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY SWEET SAWYER

Happy Tuesday Birthday

What better way to celebrate Happy Tuesday than with a birthday, especially when it is Sawyer’s. That he has reached his eighth birthday is a surprise and a blessing. We honestly never dreamed he would be with us this long when we found out about his seizure disorder, and we were unable to get the seizures to stop without the intervention of the veterinarians at the Emergency Vet and/or our own vet.

We pray he will enjoy many more years and that the new delivery system for his phenobarbital will provide better control of those seizures.

Of course, Cooper Murphy happily baked a cake for him. As the Fourth of July is just a few days away, Cooper selected a red, white and blue theme. And look at the cake topper … he captured Sawyer purrfectly.

Please join us in a piece of cake. We do have some beverages and catnip ice cream as well.

The real party for Sawyer, however, is at Friends Furever. Periwinkle & Noelle have planned a party for Stinky and Sawyer, which I believe is a surprise. It will be Periwinkle and Stinky’s Adventure for the week.

I am so grateful to Periwinkle and Noelle as well as Mom Sharon for planning this for our special boys. I hope you will stop in and join the party. You can do so by clicking on Periwinkle & Stinky’s badge.

And Kitties Blue will be participating in the Happy Tuesday blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. If you would also like to do so, click on the Happy badge.

Thanks for stopping in today.

SAWYER’S SERIOUS SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #550

A grey tabby cat posing with his paw out in a serious selfie.

Dear Furiends,

I read a comment on yesterday’s post, featuring Raleigh and me, that my fabulous and beautiful girlfriend Noelle (Friends Furever) hoped I would be here today. That made my heart sing, and I hope she loves my very serious selfie. Of course, I hope all our friends who join us today and share a selfie like it too.

Besides sending Noelle love, paw hugs and whisker kisses, the only other thing I have to say is, please hop along!

Purrs and paw-pats, Sawyer

Along with Sawyer, I invite you to join us on this week’s Sunday Selfies Blog Hop. The Kitties Blue and I, as well as all your other friends, look forward to seeing your adorable faces each week. EASTER THANKFULS, ART & A POEM

Thankful Thursday

Kitties Blue and I look forward to sharing our thankfuls with you each week.

Sawyer is thankful for the Easter card he received from his thoughtful and sweet girlfriend Noelle (Friends Furever).

I am thankful for the Easter greetings I received from my friends, through e-mail, texts and e-cards.

For my birthday I purchased a piece of art for myself. I am thankful I finally was able to pick it up when the exhibition it was in was taken down. This is called “Autumn Stroll.” It was created by artist, Catherine Houghton. The medium is alcohol ink. This is just the art itself. It is matted in white and framed in black.

Kitties Blue and I are so grateful for everyone who visits, comments and supports us. Your friendships mean the world to us.

We will be participating in the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Angel Brian. You can do the same by clicking on the Thankful badge.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Our friends at Two Spoiled Cats, Teddy and Angel Sammy, challenge us to write a poem on Thursdays using a photo they provide as inspiration. Today’s photo is yet another silly one. It is below along with my poem.

A woman sitting on a wall wearing an egg with a hole for her heads and holes for her legs.

A Regrettable Job

My agent told me to take this job—
said it would be good for my career.
Wish he’d made the circumstances
of this ridiculous part clear!

Playing a broken egg is insane
and the pay is outrageously poor.
I know this is a huge mistake.
The critics will say, “What a bore!”

Each week Angel Sammy transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to Teddy for publication. Sammy always writes a terrific poem, so you don’t want to miss reading it. Please stop over to Two Spoiled Cats, by clicking on the poetry badge, to check out Sammy’s poem and get the photo for next week’s challenge.

MISSED OPPORTUNITY? & THANKFULS

Thankful Thursday

Each week on Thursday, we share our thankfuls and join the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Angel Brian. As usual, we have several thankfuls, and Sawyer has asked to go first.

Sawyer is thankful for the wonderful Christmas gifts his girlfriend Noelle (Friends Furever) sent him. Unfortunately he had a seizure the day they arrived, so he really wasn’t up to playing then. But, he wanted to share this photo and let Noelle know publicly how appreciative he is, especially for the treats. Sawyer does apologize for looking so grumpy. In his defense, I did bother him while he was napping.

I am thankful for the beautiful gift Noelle’s mom, Sharon, sent me as well as the gifts from other wonderful friends.

I also am thankful for being one of two first commenters on the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats. What made that even more fun was the fact that Noelle’s mom, Sharon, was the other first commenter. We both received this badge.

Tuesday Teaser First Commenter badge.

Kitties Blue and I are thankful to everyone who follows us, joins our Sunday Selfies blog hop and comments on our posts. We wouldn’t be here without all of you.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

It’s time for poetry today as well. Each Thursday, Angel Sammy and Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats), provide interested participants with an inspiration photo on which to base a poem. Here is today’s photo followed by my poem.

Child with blue coat, red scarf and striped knit hat catching snowflakes on tongue.

MISSED OPPORTUNITY?

This is something I didn’t do as a kid,
as snow didn’t fall where I lived.
One day, however, we had a freak snow,
but about catching snowflakes I didn’t know.
My sister made snowballs, put them in the freezer!

For some years I lived in the mid-part of our nation
where we got too much winter precipitation.
No longer a child, I really didn’t find it much fun—
days and days waiting for the warmth of the sun
to melt the filthy remnants of winter’s wrath.

Now I live where we’ve had years with heaps of snow
and some when there has been nothing to show.
The earth’s warming has changed the climate here.
These days snow rarely finds its way anywhere near—
no chance to catch a snowflake on one’s tongue.

© Janet Buickerood Blue – 01/03/2024

I did write another poem based on a snowy inspiration photo to which I added Cooper Murphy. It is titled, “Snow Cat,” and you can find it here.

Each week Angel Sammy transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to Teddy for publication. In our opinion, Sammy is a super talented poet, and he always writes an A+ poem. So, pop on over to Two Spoiled Cats, by clicking on the poetry badge, to check out Sammy’s poem and get the photo for next week’s challenge.

Thanks for joining us today. We plan to be right back here tomorrow.

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CCXVI

Stinky is, of course, waiting for Periwinkle by the teleportation tunnel. He’s always happy to see her and is excited to spend the day together. When he hears the familiar whoosh and Periwinkle comes tumbling from the tunnel, Stinky is ready and catches her in his paws. They both begin giggling and then share some paw hugs and whisker kisses. They also spend a bit of time telling each other about their Christmas Day activities.

Party Planning

Before Periwinkle can ask what Stinky has planned for them, he tells her, “I hope you won’t be disappointed in today’s adventure. Sawyer asked if we could do him a favor.”

“Stinky, you know I’d do anything for you and him. What does he want us to do?”

“Well, he is very sad, as he missed planning a celebration for Noelle for her Gotcha Day last week, and he would like us to put a little party together for her.”

“I think that would be very nice, Stinky. I know she and I celebrate the same birthday, but my Gotcha Day came a couple years after hers. And I always enjoy a good party and also have fun planning them. When we have everything ready, I can call my mom and tell her to send Noelle through the teleportation tunnel.”

“Good plan, Periwinkle. My mom already has the food prepared, and Cooper Murphy has made another cake. I know Sawyer has created a card. So, let’s start decorating.”

Periwinkle gets busy setting everything up and then tells Stinky, “I think I am finished. What do you think?”

“Everything looks purrfect, Periwinkle. Call your mom and have her send Noelle. I will go get Sawyer, so he will be waiting when she arrives.”

Periwinkle calls her mom and tells her to send Noelle but not to tell her where she is going.

Stinky searches for Sawyer and finds him napping. “Hey, Sawyer, wake up, Noelle will be here any minute.”

Sawyer jumps up and follows Stinky to the teleportation tunnel.

Noelle Arrives

Moments later Noelle arrives and looks around in confusion. She sees Periwinkle and asks, “Hey, Periwinkle what’s happening? Where am I?”

Then Noelle sees Sawyer and starts hopping up and down and runs into his arms. “Oh, wow, are we going to share Stinky and Periwinkle’s adventure?” Noelle asks Sawyer.

“I guess in a way we are, but this is actually a Gotcha Day party for you,” replies Sawyer.

“That is so cool. Thanks you so much,” gushes Noelle.

Sawyer leads her to the living room, shows off the decorations Periwinkle has created and gives Noelle a sparkly headband to wear.

Periwinkle whispers to Stinky, “They’re almost as cute as we are, don’t you think?”

Stinky giggles, but he does agree.

Noelle tells Periwinkle how beautiful the decorations are and gives her a big paw hug.

Gifts for Noelle

“Noelle, I have a couple of things for you,” says Sawyer and presents her with some flowers and a card.

“Oh, Sawyer, I love them both. Those are the most beautiful and unusual roses I have ever seen. And that card is so elegant,” exclaims Noelle.

“I am so happy you like them. I know it isn’t much, and I am late with this celebration, but I do love you and wanted to show you,” Sawyer tells her. They share some additional whisker kisses.

Noms

Stinky tells everyone that a buffet is set up in the dining room. The four tabbies head in, and Stinky invites all the Kitties Blue to join them. After singing a rousing, off-key rendition of “Happy Gotcha Day,” all the kitties fill their bowls with the seafood stew, salmon pate, seafood buffet and filet of beef. And then they help themselves to beverages.

When everyone thinks they cannot eat another bite, Cooper Murphy brings out the cake and some champagne.

Noelle cannot believe her eyes when she sees the cake Cooper has created. She runs up to him and throws her paws around his neck and gives him a huge hug. “That is the best cake I have ever seen. Mau would be so proud of you. Thank you so much!”

Cooper blushes and thanks Noelle for her kind words.

All Stinky and Sawyer’s fursibs are so full that they retire to the bedroom and various cat trees for naps while the four tabbies sit and chat about what a wonderful day it has been.

Time to Head Home

Regrettably, the time comes for Periwinkle and Noelle to head home. Cooper Murphy boxes up what little of the cake remains for Noelle to take home along with her card and flowers.

Noelle and Sawyer and Periwinkle and Stinky spend several minutes whisker kissing and paw hugging before the girls enter the teleportation tunnel. Then with final waves and a whoosh the girls are gone. Stinky and Sawyer decide they should help their mom with the clean up chores before joining their fursibs for a nap.

The End

The four tabbies will be joining the Happy Tuesday blog hop at Comedy Plus. You can join them by clicking on the badge below.
