AN AWWWDORABLE ANGEL WITTH A SPARK

Awww Monday/Sparks

I have combined these two Monday posts by using a photo from May 31, 2016, of Lily Olivia for my Spark. I believe you will see why I selected her for the Spark. If not, it is because she’s one of our angels and my Spark is about angels. With the loss of ao many kitties lately, our friend Jean and one of Dad Tom’s cousins as well as the wife of a friend who passed in August, I have had angels on my mind.

awwwdorable angel spark: a calico cat lying on her side with an orange crocheted fish toy and the following quote from Jaclyn Smith, "Angels are like diamonds. They can't be made, you have to find them. Each one is unique."

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

Lily Olivia may be an angel, but she’ll always be awwwdorable. So, she’ll be participating in the Awww Mondays blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. You can join her there by clicking on the Awww badge.

You may have noticed some small crocheted toys next to Lily Olivia. Those were from Ellen at 15 and Meowing, who is always so generous with the kitties, especially by playing the Tooth Fairy to felines.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow is that special day each week when Periwinkle and Stinky set out on a new adventure. It is Stinky’s turn to make a plan. He’s confided in me that he’s been going nutty trying to come up with an adventure for tomorrow. He has his paws crossed that he has an epiphany soon. I am confident he won’t let Periwinkle or our readers down. And I know both the tabbies will be looking forward to seeing you here tomorrow. So, please don’t let them down.

Thanks for joining us today.

TREASURE LIFE

Photo of the moon among the trees and in the clouds surrounded by a peach-colored reflection with a quote from Walter Anderson, "Bad things do happen; how I respond to them defines my character and the quality of my life. I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I have - life itself."

I believe today’s Spark speaks for itself.

The author of today’s Spark, Walter Anderson, is an author and playwright. He is also co-founder of Novium Learning, an educational services company in Wellesley, Massachusetts. He worked for 32 years at Parade Publications where he held the positions of Chairman, CEO and Editor-in-Chief.

I must give a special thank you to Dad Tom for the incredible photo I used as the background for today’s Spark. A majority of the photos that appear here are his, and I am so grateful for his expertise and willingness to provide me with so many wonderful images.

LEAPING INTO MONDAY

Awww Mondays

Audrey and Kizmet are always up to some sort of mischief. Dad Tom snapped their photo right after we turned off bird TV, which they had been avidly watching. In their haste to depart for some real bird watching on the catio, Kizmet tries to leap over the top of Audrey.

SAWYER’S INNER PEACE SUNPUDDLE

Awww Mondays/Sparks

Today, I have combined my Spark with my photo for Awww Mondays.

Grey tabby Manx cat napping in a sunpuddle with the quote: "Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset," by Saint Francis de Sales.

I think Sawyer looks so content snoozing in his sunpuddle. With that in mind, I wanted a Spark about contentment. Unfortunately, I was unable to find anything appropriate. My next choice was serenity, but I failed with that word as well. I finally went with inner peace, and I am very happy with today’s Spark. I do wish Sawyer could do everything quietly with a calm spirit. Sadly, his seizures prevent that, but I will continue to pray that someday he will no longer be troubled by them.

KIZMET & THE CARDINAL

Sparks

When I discovered this quote from Eleanor Roosevelt, I knew it was purrfect for the blog, as our tag-line is “Cats are Predictably Unpredictable.” Kitties Blue definitely add a lot of “flavor” to our lives.

Awww Mondays

In the past few days I have been finding Kizmet sitting on the bathroom counter staring at the window above her head, just as she is in the above photo.

The following photos reveal what has garnered Kizmet’s attention.

Two photos of a male cardinal sitting on a window sill staring in the window.

This cardinal has been incessantly pecking and flying at the window. He spent almost the entirety of Sunday doing this. I think he’s a bit of a bird brain, and I have no idea what he wants. Certainly he cannot be interested in coming in a house where eight cats reside.

Kizmet and her bird friend will be participating in the Awww Mondays blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. If you would like to do the same, click on the Awww badge.

TUXEDO CAT APPRECIATION DAY WITH ANGELS

Awww Mondays

Tuxedo Cat Appreciation Day badge

Today is Tuxedo Cat Appreciation Day, and we are remembering our three angel tuxedo (tuxie) cats, Daphne, Mauricio and Misty May. We are also celebrating our semi-tuxie (more of a cow-patterned) cat, Lisbeth.

Most of you should be familiar with Mau(ricio) and Misty May but maybe not Daphne. She was the third of the Kitties Blue. We discovered her and her litter mates in the engine compartment of my car.

Our three angels and Lisbeth will be joining the Awww Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus. If you would like to do the same, click on the Awww badge,

With our three original tuxies being angels, I wanted a Spark about angels. When I found this one, I knew it was purrfect!

A HAPPY SPARK & RALEIGH’S DISAPPEARANCE

Awww Mondays/Sparks

I have combined these two things this week. The photo and the Spark only slightly match up, but I selected the photo in order to tell you about Raleigh’s escapade of Caturday.

Gngar tabby cat being silly on a cat tree with a quote from William E. Gladstone, "Be happy with what you have and are, be generous with both, and you won't have to hunt for happiness."

Where to begin is the question? Spark or Raleigh’s story? I vote for Spark.

I wanted a Spark that represented having fun, which Raleigh is definitely having in this photo. Unfortunately, I didn’t find anything about fun. However, having fun and being happy, I think go paw-in-paw, so that is why I selected this Spark.

The author, William Ewart Gladstone, was born in Liverpool to Scottish parents and lived from 1809 to 1898. He was a British statesman and Liberal politician. Gladstone served four non-consecutive terms as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, between 1868 and 1894. He also served as Chancellor of the Exchequer four times, for  total of more than 12 years.

Raleigh’s Disappearance

In yesterday’s post, “Airplane Ears Selfie & a Good-Bye,” I mentioned that I had spent most of Caturday searching for Raleigh.

Caturday morning, Dad Tom announced he had found the door to the guest room open and had chased Lisbeth out. He also reported that he had counted noses, and Raleigh was missing. He might or might not have been in the guest room. Unfortunately for me, Dad Tom was on his way out of town, leaving me to locate a cat that doesn’t want to come near me.

I could not leave the guest room door open even if he was hiding there. If I did, within moments eight cats would be making themselves comfortable.

Our house is 112 years old and has a myriad of hidey holes. After living here for 40 years with a total of 22 cats, I have discovered nearly all the nooks and crannies big enough for a cat. I made three complete circuits of the house, including the guest room, as well as the catio and upper deck and still had not located Raleigh. With him missing for about five hours, my frustration had reached head-exploding level when I headed back to the guest room. I keep rolls of upholstery fabric and other items in plastic storage containers under the guest room bed. I had moved these items around on each circuit and searched under the bed with flashlight in hand, but had not seen him there.

Thankfully, the fourth time was the charm. My light caught a pair of eyes under the bed. That was the easy part. Getting Raleigh to come out and exit the room was the challenge. Leaving the door open, I went around the opposite side of the bed, grabbed one of roles of fabric and gave Raleigh a shove on the butt! He shot out from under the bed, out the door and down the stairs.

So that’s how I spent my Caturday. Whoop-dee-do!

Raleigh will be heading over to the Comedy Plus to join the Awww Mondays blog hop. To do the same, click on the Awww badge.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow is that special day each week when Periwinkle and Stinky set out on a new adventure. It is Stinky’s turn to plan what they’ll be doing. MLK JR. SPARK & AWWW-DORABLE KIZMET

Sparks

Today we honor and remember Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. King said so many meaningful things during his lifetime, that I had a difficult time selecting one. Wanting to be nonpolitical, I selected a quote that spoke to me.

AWWWDORABLE AUDREY PRESENTS SPARKS

Awww Mondays/Sparks

Usually I separate Awww Mondays and Sparks into two separate sections of our Monday post. When I was unable to find a background for today’s Spark, I decided to put it atop Audrey’s Awww photo. I hope you don’t think the words distract from her absolute awwwdorableness.

awwwdorable Audrey Sparks: Torbie Cat lying on her back with four feet in the air with the quotes, "Let our New Year's resolution be this: we will be there for one another as fellow members of humanity, in the finest sense of the word." from Goran Persson

I believe this Spark speaks for itself, and I definitely plan to do my part in it.

The author of today’s Spark, Hans Göran Persson, is a 74-year-old, Swedish politician. He served as Prime Minister of Sweden from 1996 to 2006 and leader of the Swedish Social Democratic Party from 1996 to 2007.
