LETTER TO SANTA CLAWS

Many Words on Wednesday

I know this is supposed to be a wordless post, put the following letter to Santa from 2014 has become a holiday tradition. Whether you have seen it before to not, Kitties Blue and I hope you enjoy it and have a chuckle or two. A postscript has, however, been added to this year’s letter.

My Cat’s Letter to Santa Claws
Santa
Oh dearest Santa, I promise I’ve been good.
Always used my litter box and eaten all my food.
That broken lamp was a minor transgression.
I don’t think it required that time-out session.
And it wasn’t I who shred the arm of that chair.
Besides, isn’t that why they come in a pair.
The hairball on the human’s pillow didn’t come from me.
I don’t have floofy furs, as you can plainly see.
And all that litter spread through the house hither to yon …
It sprang right out of the box long after I had gone.
And you know that sandwich the human left on the table …
I swear it was stolen by a stray mouse named Mabel.
And the Christmas tree that suddenly toppled over …
Was not pushed by me but a marauding gopher.
I have no idea how these critters invade my space.
I never leave the cat door open or out of place.
Oh. dearest Santa, I’ve truly never ever been naughty.
So please bring me some toys from Jackson Galaxy.
And a big bag of nip to last a whole year …
Please, oh please, oh please Santa dear.
And some nommy treats would be totally pawsome.
I’d eat every one and not leave a crumb.
For I, the cat, have been as good as a cat can be.
So please don’t pass me by this Christmas Eve.
If you’ll stop by my house once again this year,
I promise to leave cookies and a bit of good cheer beer.
And as to next year, I raise my right paw

Yours truly, The Cat

p.s. Please don’t bring us any more kittens!

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CCCXX

Gotcha Day at the Cottage

Stinky is always happy to see Periwinkle, but today is super special, and he is having trouble containing his excitement. Today is Periwinkle and her alter ego, Noelle’s, Gotcha Day. Stinky has asked Periwinkle to meet him at their cottage where all his fursibs and hers will be waiting. With so many kitties needing to use the teleportation tunnel, Stinky has gone ahead to the cottage early. He already spent a good portion of the weekend decorating.

Thankfully, all the guests are in place and are waiting for Periwinkle when the teleportation tunnel begins to vibrate, and Periwinkle pops out in a whoosh. Stinky catches her before she can knock kitten Gibbs on his bum. They spend several minutes whisker kissing and paw hugging.

When they come up for air, Periwinkle is surprised to see their families. ”You didn’t tell me we were going to celebrate Christmas today,” she exclaims.

“We are doing that, but the celebration is really for you and Noelle, as it is your Gotcha Day,” replies Stinky.

Periwinkle throws her paws around him and gives Stinky a huge hug. “Thank you, you are the best fiancé ever.”

Stinky’s mom has helped him prepare their lunch, but Periwinkle heads to the kitchen with Stinky to help him bring the food to the table.

Two cartoon tabby cats, Periwinkle and Stinky celebrate her Gotcha Day and Christmas in their cottage kitchen.

While they do that, all the others take their seats. Noelle and Lisbeth help Tali and Gibbs into high chairs.

Lunch Time

Two cartoon tabby cats, Periwinkle and Stinky, two kittens and 10 cats celebrate her Gotcha Day and Christmas in their cottage dining room.

When they come back to the dining room, Periwinkle notices angel Astrid and says, “I am so happy Astrid could join us from the Rainbow Bridge. I wish all our angel fursibs could be here.”

“Yes, that would be great, but I think we would need a bigger cottage,” replies Stinky.

Everyone grows quiet as they feast on all the nummy food. When they have eaten everything, Cooper Murphy leaves the room and comes back with a huge cake for Periwinkle and Noelle.

Gotcha Day cake with tiara and snowflakes for Periwinkle and Noelle.

The two ladies “ooh and ahh” over their cake. In unison, they say, “Thanks, Cooper, it is gorgeous!”

Gibbs and Tali have never seen anything like it. They squeal and clap their paws together. Stinky has to hold Gibbs back from attacking the cake. Though everyone is super full, none of the cats turn down cake.

When finished all the kitties head back to the living room where Stinky hands out gifts to everyone. Each contains a new catnip-filled toy. All the kitties play with their toys. Kizmet tries to keep Tali from stealing her new toy.

Two cartoon tabby cakes, Periwinkle and Stinky, 10 cats and two kittens celebrate Christmas and a Gotcha Day.

As they quickly grow tired, each cat curls up for a nap.

While everyone is napping, Stinky tells Periwinkle to close her eyes. Then he takes her paw and leads her to the backyard garden, which he has decorated.

Gotcha Day in the Garden

Two cartoon tabby cats, Periwinkle and Stinky, celebrate her Gotcha Day in a garden filled with Christmas trees and colored lights.

When Periwinkle opens her eyes, she squeals with delight, “Stinky, this is so beautiful. You know what I like best about our garden?”

“No, what?”

“I like that it is never cold and the flowers are always in bloom.”

“That is because it is magical,” Stinky replies.

“I love it here, and wish we could stay all the time,” Periwinkle tells Stinky.

“Maybe we can after we are married,” Stinky replies and winks at Periwinkle.

“When do you think that will be?”

“I don’t know. I think our moms have to plan that. Let’s ask them about it when we get home tomorrow.”

“Oh, that is an excellent idea, and I am super happy we get to spend the night here,” Periwinkle says.

“Me too, let’s go inside and wake everyone up, so they can begin heading home.”

“I like the way you think, Stinky!”

Once everyone is awake, Periwinkle and Stinky see them to the front porch, hug each kitty and thank them for coming and then watch as they take turns leaving through the two teleportation tunnels.

Once everyone is safely away, Periwinkle and Stinky clean up the living room, dining room and kitchen.

Good Night … Sleep Tight!

They are both exhausted after such a busy day, and decide it is time to head for bed.

The tabbies snuggle together and tell each other “I love you,” before sharing some whisker kisses and paw hugs. After saying “good-night,” they are fast asleep.

The End

BELATED GOTCHA DAY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #592

A sun-kissed Kizmet is here today so we can celebrate her Gotcha Day, which was on Friday.

Grey cat in a Sunday selfie on her Gotcha Day in a holiday wreath with candy canes, starburst candies, red berries and green leaves.

If you stop by regularly, you know we have been on a mini-break. Though our quickly growing terrorists are down from eight to six in number, they are just as much work, especially as we are giving both groups time to play in the bedroom, laundry and bathroom. It’s a two-ring circus with Tali and Gibbs and a four-ring one with the others. Some of the adult Kitties Blue are occasionally reluctant observers! But enough about them … for now!

Kizmet’s Fifth Gotcha Day

If you didn’t know or have forgotten, Kizmet was Dad Tom’s and my Christmas present to ourselves during COVID in 2020. Her original name was Janet, and I first saw her on PetFinder. She was six months old. Because of the pandemic, we weren’t even allowed to hold her until after we adopted her.

This is her first photo (and selfie) after arriving at her forever home. It was week #332 of the blog hop. Neither she nor any of the rest of us had any idea she would turn out to be a super meowdel!

We have a card for her.

We have lots of beverages as well.

As we did not post yesterday, Kizmet has a puzzle for all the jigsaw fans. Hope you enjoy it.

Hopping Time

So, it is now time for you to snap your own selfie and hop along with us. We always enjoy seeing your sweet faces each week. Now, we know it is a busy time of year for everyone, so if you cannot get by today, we understand. As always, the hop remains open through Thursday, which is also Christmas Day. So, if you want to dress your selfie up with a special frame that would be cool, but not mandatory.

Whether you are hopping today or not, Kizmet, all the other Kitties Blue and I hope you will party with us for a while.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky Reminder

We are reminding you a day early about our Tuesday post, as we will be taking another day off tomorrow. This will be a special adventure, as it is Periwinkle’s Gotcha Day on Tuesday. We know you do not want to miss that, as we are pretty certain Stinky has planned something special for her. And, you will be able to find them right here.

Thanks for joining us today. Have an easy Sunday and a terrific Monday, and we’ll see you Tuesday.

A FAREWELL SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #591

A farewell selfie of a ginger and white kitten in a Christmas frame.

Do you remember this little terrorist? If not, the following photo might help to refresh your memory.

A selfie a ginger and white kitten that looks like Grogu (baby Yoda) in an Halloween frame.

I thought he looked just like Grogu (aka Baby Yoda), and so shared him for Halloween. He is now about three months old, and will be heading to his new, forever home (along with the other ginger tabby) in just a day or two. They are the sweetest little boys, and I will miss them terribly. But, as they will be going home with someone I know, I hope to get updates as they grow up.

Please Hop Along

It is now you opportunity to share your selfie. Dress it hope for Christmas or Hanukkah if you like. The first day of Hanukkah is actually tomorrow. We know everyone is busy during the holiday season, but that’s not a problem. If you cannot join us today, you can do it tomorrow or anytime through Thursday.

You know how much Kitties Blue and all your other friends enjoy seeing your adorable face, so we hope to see it here. But whether you hop or not, thanks for visiting us today.

Kitties Blue and I will not be staying up tonight and will join the hop in the morning when we get up.

Now, go enjoy an easy Sunday, possibly beneath the Christmas tree.

THANKFULS & SANTA CLAUS RESISTERS

Thankful Thursday

Each week, Kitties Blue and I reflect on the things for which we are thankful and then participate in the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Angel Brian.

Dad Tom and I are thankful the four kittens, that will go up for adoption, left today to get their surgeries and vaccines. They were supposed to be picked up on Monday, but due to the snow, that was postponed. We are getting a slight reprieve in our caring for eight, which we really need. The president of Barn Cat Buddies will house them until Saturday. Then they will come back to us until an adoption event, which is scheduled for January 10.

We moved Gibbs and Tali upstairs to our smaller enclosure on Tuesday. The two remaining kittens, which are scheduled to be picked up by their new mom in just a few days are now upstairs as well, where they will remain until they go to their forever home.

Dad Tom and I were able to give Gibbs and Tali the run of the big bathroom this morning. They galloped and played and investigated every corner, including the shower. In the evening, we let all four kittens have a play session in the bathroom. I wish I had an ounce of their energy!

Two kittens (white and calico and white and black) on a tile bench.

I’ve almost finished decorating. Just the bottom third of our big tree remains. That means I’ll be able to start on cards. I am super thankful for that. Unfortunately, I ordered the cards prior to Gibbs and Tali joining the Kitties Blue crew, so they are not pictured.

We are thankful that Raleigh has decided to join us in the bedroom the past couple of nights while we’ve been watching television. He usually sleeps on the bed at night, but he does not join us until the lights have gone out. Dad Tom thinks he is just trying to get as far from the kittens as possible. Guess we humans are the lesser of two evils.

Kitties Blue and I are always thankful to each of you who visit, comment and participate in our Sunday Selfies blog hop.

If you would like to join Angel Brian’s hop, click on the badge below.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thursday also is the day when I try to participate in (Two Spoiled Cats) Angel Sammy and Teddy’s poetry challenge. They provide an inspiration photo, and participants write a poem based on it. Here’s this week’s photo followed by my poem.

A cat and dog wearing Santa hats and eating his cookies and drinking his milky as Santa Claus resisters.

Santa Claus Resisters

We waited up for Santa to offer some slobbery kisses,
but when he didn’t come, Buster decided he’d give him hisses.
But I devised an even better plan
to spite the red-suited, blubbery man:
We’d eat his cookies and slurp up his milk.
We don’t need presents from such as his ilk—
tardy men with sooty suits and fake whiskers.
We are now official Santa Claus resisters!
If he finally shows up with catnip and toys to chew,
he’ll find an empty plate with an IOU.
IOU nothing for forgetting us at Christmas.
Possibly it’s time for you to find a new business—
one where your job is not to spread good cheer
or sail through the sky with ill-tempered deer.
A boring desk job in a cubicle with no perks
is perfect for a Santa who turned out to be a jerk!

© Janet Buickerood Blue – 12/11/2025

With apologies to Santa Claus. We know he’s not a jerk. And I know an IOU is not exactly correct with two anipals leaving it. I’ll just call that poetic license.

Angel Sammy is the official poet at Two Spoiled Cats. He transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to Teddy for publication. Angel Sammy writes amazing poetry, and we always recommend you check out his poem. So, please head over to Two Spoiled Cats and read it. You can find the poem by clicking on the poetry badge. While visiting, check out the inspiration photo for next week and join us in writing some poetry.

Thanks for stopping by today. We hope to be back tomorrow with some additional kitten photos for Feline Friday as well as some Friendly Fill-Ins.

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CCCXVIII

As he always is, Stinky is anxious for Periwinkle’s arrival and paces in front of the teleportation tunnel. Their adventures are the highlight of his week. When he sees the tunnel begin to vibrate, he rushes to the opening just in time to catch Periwinkle as she tumbles out with a whoosh! They immediately begin paw hugging and whisker kissing.

Snow Day (Not)

When they come up for air, Periwinkle asks, “Are we going outside to play in the snow?”

“That had not been part of my plan, but if you want to, we can,” replies Stinky.

“Heavens no, I just thought that might be something we’d be doing,” exclaims Periwinkle.

Stinky’s Health

“No way. I cannot believe we have already had two significant snow occurrences, and it is not even winter yet. And with my weight loss, I know it would feel extra cold to me!”

“I hate that you have not been well. What do you think is wrong?”

“Heck if I know. You know my brain is wired a bit differently. Mom and Dad are feeding me whenever I want and mixing my stinky goodness with warm water to try to get me rehydrated.”

“Wow, stinky goodness whenever you want is pretty cool.”

“Yep … Stinky goodness for Stinky!” Both Periwinkle and Stinky giggle at his little joke.

“So, what’s the plan going forward?” asks Periwinkle.

“Mom and Dad have cancelled my ultrasound that was scheduled for tomorrow. They want to see how I am in a week before they decide to do it or not. I’ve already gained a little weight,” replies Stinky.

Periwinkle claps her paws together. “That’s wonderful news, and I know you are happy about that. So, if we are not going out in the snow, what are we going to do?”

Making a Congratulatory Banner

“Well, first we have a project for Mom and all my fursibs.”

Periwinkle exclaims, “Oh goodie. Are we wrapping gifts? I had so much fun doing that the year your mom had Covid.”

“Nope, we are making a banner. This is the 4,000th post of The Cat on My Head.”

“Wow, that is so cool. Let’s get busy.”

The tabbies head to the kitchen where Stinky has laid out all the supplies, and they immediately start to work.

Nine cats and two cartoon tabby cats celebrate the 4,000th post of The Cat on My Head.

“Stinky, I think that came out great. Do you think your mom and all the Kitties Blue will like it?”

“I sure hope so. I am happy we could include Gibbs and Tali. Mom says it is so hard to get photos of the kittens, as they are super wiggly.”

“Kitten energy is amazing,” replies Periwinkle and then asks, “What’s next on the agenda?”

Letters to Santa

“Letters to Santa. I think I will ask for less snow.”

“Wow, Stinky, do you think he can do that?”

Stinky sighs and answers, “NO!” Then he tells Periwinkle, “My mom got us some special Santa stationary. Here’s a piece for you and a pen.”

“Thanks, Stinky.”

The tabbies quietly work on writing their letters.

“Stinky, I am not certain Santa can read your writing. Nor do I think he can do much with these lists. Some of our requests may take a miracle!”

“Then we’ll just pray for some miracles,” replies Stinky.

“That’s a good idea. I can do that. So, what’s next on the agenda today?”

Shopping Suggestions

“I thought we could give all the parents and our cat friends a list of good places to gift shop for each other as well as some idea for good gifts,” Stinky tells Periwinkle.

“That’s a terrific idea, and I have a suggestion. It is where we kitties should shop for our humans. The site is GiftingTopia. It is Angel Brian’s dad Terry’s shop. There are so many cool things like ornaments, tote bags, mugs, jewelry, clothes, blankets and more. And everything is super cute.”

“Another great place to shop, Periwinkle, is the Cat Lady Box site. We can shop for our humans, and they can shop for us as well. They have beds, blankets and the best catnip toys. Kizmet is a connoisseur of them. They have a huge range of products for Cat ladies, including clothing, jewelry, home and kitchen items and more. Part of their proceeds go to cat shelters/rescues. So far they have donated $220,000 to 1012 shelters.”

“Everybody should shop there, Stinky. Do you have any other ideas?”

“Yes, Leo’s Paw. They have fountains, beds, toys, grooming products and lots more. They too support non-profit, rescue and adoption centers, giving homeless cats another chance for a happy life.”

“Of course, there are lots of other places to shop like Chewy and Amazon, but these are some of our favorites, right Stinky?”

“Yes, indeed.”

Some Favorite Cat Products

Disclaimer: The products Periwinkle and Stinky are sharing can be purchased from a variety of sites, including the manufacturer, Chewy, Amazon and others. Neither Kitties Blue nor Mom Janet will receive any form of compensation by sharing this information with you.

“That is one of our favorite things as well, Periwinkle. Just last night, Kizmet was inside and she and Audrey were playing smack paw through the little cat-shaped cutout.”

“That’s a fun game, Stinky. My sisfur, Reesie, loves curing up for a snooze in the well on the top.”

Another of our favorites is the Automatic Butterfly Cat Toy from Caroline’s Cats.

“One or more of my fursibs plays with it everyday, Periwinkle.”

“Periwinkle, I have one final suggestion.”

“What is it, Stinky?”

It’s the KittyKurlz. It too is available from a variety of sellers at a wide range of prices.

“You cannot see it, but there is a ball in the track in the center. Kizmet loves to start whacking it around when Mom and Dad want to go to sleep.”

Snack Time

“Stinky, this was a jam-packed adventure. I don’t know about you, but I could use a snack.”

“You know I want one, Periwinkle. Let’s head back to the kitchen. I think a couple of my fursibs might be there already.”

After they finish their snacks and have shared with Kizmet and Calista Jo, it is time for Periwinkle to head home. She and Stinky spend several minutes paw hugging and whisker kissing and telling each other, “I love you.” Periwinkle tells Stinky that she’s going to be purring and praying for him. Then she enters the teleportation tunnel and with a wave and blown kiss is gone in a whoosh.

Stinky heads off for a nap and dreams of Periwinkle.

The End

AN EARLY CHRISTMAS SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #590

A very serious Cooper Murphy volunteered to share an early Christmas selfie with you before he crashed on the bed with his head buried under his paws.

Time to Hop Along

Cooper Murphy would love it if you could join him on the hop. It is not necessary to dress up for the holidays or even to post today. You can jump on the hop any time through Thursday. We just hope to see your adorable faces.

Thanks for joining us. Have a peaceful and easy Sunday, dear friends!

KITTENS, ART & WINTER

Kitten News

So, I found out on Thursday that the four kittens Barn Cat Buddies will be taking for adoption will be returning to us after their vaccines and surgeries. They will remain here until sometime in January. Many cats and kittens are already awaiting placement at the adoption center, so the kittens will be biding their time here until their turn comes. I love them all and do not want to see them go, but this is a month longer with us than we had anticipated.

Caturday Art

Lisbeth kindly allowed be to photograph her for today’s art. She was toasting herself on the radiator next to the Christmas Tree in the foyer. This is a favorite spot of hers when winter roles around, and it has arrived. (I will share of photo of that later in this post.)

A tuxie cat on a radiator next to a Christmas Tree which has been turned into a winter scene with a sparkly silver frame and teal bow.

To create Lisbeth’s wintery art I used the Iced effect from Painnt and added warm coloring. To that I added the Galaxy filter from piZap at 40 percent. The frame is from the favpng app.

Here’s a trimmed down version of the art as a puzzle for all the jigsaw fans.

I am sharing the original photo as well just because I really like it.

I made another puzzle as well.

An Early Taste of Winter

A winter scene of snow-covered trees and a pergola.

This was the view from our kitchen window when we woke up yesterday. As the temperature did not rise above 33 degrees F, this was still the view at 10 p.m. It probably looks exactly the same as you are reading this. The overnight temperature was predicted to be in the 20s. This is about three inches of very heavy, wet snow.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Not too many Sundays remain in 2025, so please don’t miss the opportunity to participate in week #590 of our blog hop. We’ll go live at midnight EST, but you have through the end of the day Thursday to join us. We always love seeing your happy and adorable faces, so Kitties Blue and I will hope to see you there.

Thanks for dropping by today. Have an exceptional Caturday!
