Christmas

TWO CATS & TWO TREES

Awww Mondays

A collage with a tuxie catt and a tabby cat lying under two different Christmas trees.

I discovered Lisbeth and Raleigh enjoying some tree time yesterday. Lisbeth was under the cat tree in the foyer, and Raleigh was once again under the bear tree in the dining room. The sunroom, where the tree with my glass ornaments is located, remains off limits to the kitties.

If you read our last Feline Friday post, “Raleigh Discovers Magic of Christmas,” you may recall that I said Raleigh’s fur is not the bright orange color it appeared in that photo. The above photo shows the true color of his furs…sort of beige. If you missed the previous post, click on the link.

Our two tree huggers will be participating in the Awww Mondays blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. To join it yourself, click on the badge below.

Sparks

Our Spark today is Kitties Blue and my wish for all our friends and their families and furmilies in the new year.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow also is the day when Periwinkle and Stinky set out on a new adventure. They will be taking off from Periwinkle’s home over at Friends Furever. I know the tabbies are looking forward to sharing their adventure with you, so please don’t let them down. Their adventures are always worth a few minutes of your time.

Thanks for joining us today. We’ll be back on Wednesday.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

RALEIGH DISCOVERS MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS TREE

Feline Friday

Raleigh has discovered the magic of the Christmas tree.

An orange tabby cat discovers the magic of a Christmas Tree and lies down under it.

Raleigh is a big cat, but this photo makes him look much larger than he is. The photo also makes his fur look bright orange, which it is not!

Raleigh will be joining the Feline Friday blog hop at messymimi’s meanderings. If you’d like to participate in the hop, click on the badge below.

Friendly Fill-Ins

The Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop is hosted each Friday by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). They publish the fill-in sentences on their blogs each Thursday. To join the hop, click on the badge at the left.

The kitties let me do all the fill-ins myself again this week. Thankfully, they were easy to complete. As usual, I used teal italics for filling in. Any explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. The best part of 2023 was celebrating Dad Tom’s and my 50th wedding anniversary in May.
2. My focus word for 2024 is believe. (I have the same focus words every year: Believe in Silver Linings. If you missed the announcement, at the end of October, I had this sentence tattooed on my left arm. You can see it on the post, “Don’t Look Down & Thankfuls”.)
3. A new year is a great time to create new positive habits.
4. You don’t have to wait for a new year to reach out to friends you haven’t seen in a while.

Thank you for visiting us today. We hope to see you again tomorrow for some Caturday Art.

NEW YEAR OPPORTUNITIES & POSSIBILITES

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

NewYear’s Eve is just a few days away, and angel Sammy and Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats) have provided us with an appropriate inspiration photo for this week’s poem.

New Year - Opportunities & Possibilities: An older couple wearing party hats and celebrating the new year.

At our age, Dad Tom and I rarely stay up to greet the New Year, but these two senior citizens appear to be having a great time. Of course, with drawn curtains, there really isn’t any way to tell what time it was when the photo was snapped. Anyhoo, none of that matters when it comes to my poem.

New Year – Opportunities & Possibilities

With every new year we hope and pray
for the promise of great things: If we
are ill, with God’s grace and the right
treatment we will be cured; if we play
the lottery, maybe we’ll win big!
We pray our kids or grandkids will get
good grades and be accepted to
a prestigious college. Maybe our
boss will recognize our extraordinary
abilities and give us a well-deserved raise.
No matter our age, a new year offers
imagined as well as unimagined
possibilities and opportunities.
We reach for them with hope, a smile and
a shared kiss at midnight with a loved one.

Each week Angel Sammy transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to Teddy for publication. In our opinion, Sammy is a super talented poet, and he always writes a first-rate poem. So, pop on over to Two Spoiled Cats, by clicking on the poetry badge, to check out Sammy’s poem and get the photo for next week’s challenge.

Thankful Thursday

It’s easy to be thankful around Christmastime. We share greetings with family and friends, give and receive gifts, help out our favorite charities and have yummy treats to eat. I am particularly thankful our gifts arrived at their destinations in time for Christmas, and that I got all the Kitties Blue cards in the mail before the holiday. When those will arrive to our friends living in other countries is anyone’s guess. Hopefully, they’ll have a nice surprise for Valentine’s Day.

Kitties Blue and I are thankful for all the greeting cards they have received. I have promised them we will share the cards with everyone in a future post.

Kizmet and Audrey are thankful for each other!

New Year - Opportunities & Possibilities: A grey cat and a torbie cat sleeping and resting their heads on each other.

And, of course, we are thankful you visited us today. The kitties and I hope to see you again tomorrow as well for Feline Friday, featuring Raleigh, and Friendly Fill-ins.

A MEOWY CHRISTMAS TO YOU FROM KITTIES BLUE

Awww Mondays

Today, eight awww-adorable cats, known as Kitties Blue, wish for each of you a most meowvolous Christmas.

Christmas greeting card featuring the eight Kitties Blue.

This is Kitties Blue Christmas card, which I did mail out to many of you on Friday. Please help yourselves to a copy from here, as it is anybody’s guess when they will arrive in your mailboxes, especially for those of you not living in the U.S.

The kitties and I wish everyone a purrfect day, filled with family, friends, happiness and love. And may all your wishes come true.

Thanks for being our friends and followers.

The entire gang will be stopping by Comedy Plus to join Sandee’s Awww Mondays blog hop. If you would like to be a part of the hop, click on the Awww badge.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow is that special day each week when Periwinkle and Stinky set out on a new adventure. It is Stinky’s turn to plan what they’ll be doing. I have no idea what he has on his mind for tomorrow, so I have no hint to pass on. Like me, you’ll have to stop in to find out. They know you still may be busy with family and holiday celebrations, but if you get the opportunity, please check out their adventure. I know they’ll be looking forward to seeing you!

Thanks again for joining us today.

SAWYER’S SPECIAL SELFIE FOR NOELLE

Sunday Selfies: Week #488

Sawyer's Special Selfie: Grey tabby cat with light green eyes selfie with a sparkly blue Christmas-themed frame.

Yesterday, was my beautiful girlfriend Noelle’s (Friends Furever) 6th Gotcha Day. I have made a super special selfie for her, which I am purring she will like. If you missed her party yesterday, click on the link above to visit her and leave your best wishes.

A Question from Mom

For those of you who subscribe to e-mail notifications of our posts, can you please let my mom know if you have been getting them. My dad woke her up at 5:45 a.m. yesterday to tell her she forget to schedule our post, as he didn’t get an e-mail notification, and an early commenter also said she didn’t get one. Mom would like to know if anyone else has had the same issue and if she should look for a glitch in her notification system plug-in.

Holiday Greetings

Mom finally got our holiday cards in the mail on Friday. She realizes that those of you who live out of the country definitely won’t see them before 2024, for which she apologizes. She will include a copy on tomorrow’s post for anyone who would like to pick it up there.

Finally, Hopping Time

I know today will be a busy one for many of your humans, but I sure hope you can find a bit of time to stop by and link up your selfie. If not, I’ll be here until Thursday, so you can join us after things quiet down a bit.

Wising you all a most meowvolous holiday from me and all the Kitties Blue (Mom and Dad Tom too) ,

Sawyer (with love and whisker kisses to Noelle)

MEOWY CHRISTMAS FROM AUDREY & RALEIGH

Caturday Art

Meowy Christmas cats: A torbie cat is working on a treat puzzle as a buff colored tabby cat looks on in a red and green art creation framed in green garland with red bows, ornaments and poinsettias. The words Meowy Christmas are printed on the photo.

Audrey and Raleigh are here today to wish you a Meowy Christmas. Audrey was working on the treat puzzle, which Noelle gifted to Sawyer, while Raleigh looked on. Raleigh looks like a total kitten in the photo, but it was taken only a few weeks ago.

The effect I used to create today’s art is Bubble Galaxy with summer coloring from Painnt. I used a corner decoration from favpng and duplicated it on each corner of the photo to form a frame.

I did create a puzzle for all of you, like myself, who enjoy them. While visiting Jigsaw Planet check out some of my recent puzzles I created from A.I. art I made using piZap.

Audrey and Raleigh will be participating in the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. You can do the same by clicking on Athena’s badge.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, so I know many of your humans will be busy with family, friends and celebrations. Regardless, I hope they will take a few moments to help you snap a selfie and join our hop. Noelle will be delighted to hear that Sawyer will be your host tomorrow. He has a terrific new selfie he is excited to share. And all the other Kitties Blue look forward to seeing you here as well.

Thanks for joining us today. We always enjoy your company.

THREE SLEEPS ‘TIL CHRISTMAS

Feline Friday

three sleeps 'til Santa: Grey tabby cat napping with eyes barely open.

Right after Sawyer joins the Feline Friday blog hop at messymimi’s meanderings, he plans to sleep until after Santa arrives.

The kitties let me do all the fill-ins myself today. Lucky for me, they were easy to complete. As usual, I used teal italics for filling in.

1. I’ll be home with Dad Tom and the Kitties for Christmas.

2. I am eager to see everyone open his/her their gift(s).

3. ‘Twas the night before Christmas, and I wrote this little poem for our annual Blues’ News newsletter:
‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house
not a cat was stirring and nary a mouse.
They’d all been dismembered with joyful glee,
and their remnants placed under the tree,
as gifts for the humans in the hope they’d be glad,
and Santa wouldn’t label the kitties bad!
Their numbers are down by one as the year comes to a close,
and we now continue this missive in prose.

4. I always have a huge mess of wrapping paper, bows and boxes to clean up the day after Christmas.

That’s it for us today. We’ll be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art. Hope to see you then.

THE REAL SANTA & THANKFULS

Thankful Thursday

As Christmas draws closer, I am thankful that most of my preparations are completed. All ten packages going to family and friends made it to the post office today. Only two will not arrive before Christmas, which is better than I expected. And they are scheduled to be at their destinations on the 26th.

I also finished writing our annual newsletter, “Blues’ News,” which was emailed ahead of schedule yesterday.

The Kitties Blue Christmas cards, which I didn’t order until December 13, arrived on Monday (three days prior to the promised arrival date). Though they will arrive after Christmas for most of you, I will have them in the mail prior to Christmas. I couldn’t be happier.

Kizmet asked me to thank everyone who left Gotcha Day wishes for her. Dad Tom put a brand new, fancy scratching post together, which she’ll have to share. Unfortunately, that’s what happens in a multi-cat household.

I am thankful for receiving three badges as a result of being one of two first commenters as well as the first right guesser on the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats.
The Real Santa: Three Tuesday Teaser badges.
Kitties Blue and I are thankful to each of you who have sent us holiday greeting cards. Your friendships are priceless, and we are so thankful to have you in our lives.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Angel Brian. To join us on the hop, click on the badge below.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Wow, can you believe that Christmas is now only four days away? I hope the Santa in Teddy and Angel Sammy’s (Two Spoiled Cats) inspiration photo for today’s poem isn’t seriously injured. Could turn Christmas Eve into a disaster!

The Real Santa: An obviously fake Santa lying on the floor with their head buried under Christmas gifts.

The REAL Santa Claus

This Santa looks deflated.
Those hands are definitely feminine!
Did the real Mr. Claus discover
this imposter on his turf
and decide to bury her in gifts
to play a trick on all the kids,
who came to sit on Santa’s lap?
Today, no department store fake
will replace the REAL, red-suited man.
He’ll meet each and every child
and pledge a visit on Christmas Eve,
as long as they promise to always believe
in the one-and-only, true Santa Claus!

© Janet Buickerood Blue – 12/20/2023

After I wrote this it reminded me a a really fun Christmas song by The Beach Boys, “Santa’s Beard.” It always makes me happy when I hear it. Hope you enjoy it!

I tried to write a poem that included Kitties Blue, but couldn’t get it right. I plan to keep working on it, and if I can pull it off, I will post it on Caturday.

Each week Angel Sammy transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to Teddy for publication. In our opinion, he’s a talented poet, so pop on over to Two Spoiled Cats, by clicking on the poetry badge, to check out Sammy’s poem and get the photo for next week’s challenge.

Thanks for visiting us today. Hope to see you again tomorrow for Feline Friday and Friendly Fill-ins.

KITTEN PLAYTIME & A CHRISTMAS SPARK

To create the background for today’s Spark and the image for Awww Mondays, I used the piZap A.I. feature.

Awww Mondays

kitten Playtime Christmas: Six calico kittens playing with a giant candy cane cat toy on a green rug with red flowers in front of a decorated Christmas tree.

The directions I gave the A.I. app was to create an image of six kittens on a green round rug with red flowers. I asked that they be playing with a large candy cane cat toy, and that a Christmas tree with lights be in the background. I selected the ultra glam style for the image.

Here’s a puzzle for you from the kitten image.

The little calico kittens will be joining the Awww Mondays blog hop hosted by our friend, Sandee, at Comedy Plus. To participate, click on the badge below.

Sparks

An A.I> created image in art nouveau style with and orange cat under an abstract Christmas tree with the following quote by Thomas S. Monson: "My brothers and sisters, may the spirit of love which comes at Christmastime fill our homes and our lives and linger there long after the tree is down and the lights are put away for another year."

I have quoted Thomas S. Monson in a previous Christmas Spark. That post, “Christmas Spark & Awww Mondays,”was posted on December 8, 2020.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the spirit of love Monson mentions could be with everyone always. It’s definitely something for which we should always wish and pray!

For this A.I. image I asked for an abstract Christmas tree and a wreath with a blue bow. I also requested that an orange cat be under the tree and selected the art nouveau inspired image.

Kizmet’s Gotcha Day

Tomorrow we will celebrate Kizmet’s Gotcha Day. She joined the Kitties Blue family in 2020, and is one of the most social and loving cats we have ever had in our home. We’ll be having a bit of a celebration, and I know Kizmet would love to have you join us.

Sunday’s Hop

If you joined us early yesterday, you were unable to enter the Sunday Selfies blog hop. Linky Tools was not working when I went to bed Saturday night. It is now installed on that post, and you can enter your link if you still desire to do so.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow also is the day when Periwinkle and Stinky set out on a new adventure. They will be taking off from Periwinkle’s home over at Friends Furever. I know the kitties are looking forward to sharing their adventure with you, so please don’t let them down. Their adventures are always worth a few minutes of your time.

Thanks for joining us today.

tapestry of accomplishment: An A.I.-created background with a starry sky and red, white and blue wavy stripes, with the following quote: We don't accomplish anything in this world alone... and whatever happens is the result of the whole tapestry of one's life and all the weavings of individual threads form one to another that creates something by Sandra Day O'Connor.
