LISBETH & ANGEL ASTRID’S 15TH BIRTHDAY

Awww Mondays

Two of our most awww-adorable Kitties Blue turn 15 today. Lisbeth is celebrating here with us and Angel Astrid will be celebrating at the Rainbow Bridge, as she left us last October. We miss her bunches and do have a birthday card for her.

I am certain Angel Mau will have baked a cake and planned a party for our sweet angel. I also know her precious husband, Angel Sampy, will be there for the celebration.

Here is a card for our darling Lisbeth.

Of course, a cake was prepared by our very own pastry chef, Cooper Murphy.

Sparks

I selected a Spark I thought would be appropriate for a birthday.

A quote from Ausonius, "Let us never know what old age is. Let us know the happiness time brings, not count the years."

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. It began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow, your two favorite tabby cats will be adventuring again. It is Stinky’s turn to plan their adventure, so you will be able to find them right here. Stinky has failed to share with me what he has planned. I am certain, however, it will be something fun, so I definitely think you will want to check it out, and you know they will be looking for you to join them.

Our Angel Sawyer continues to live through these adventures as his alter-ego Stinky, and it would mean so much to Mom Sharon, Noelle and myself if you would continue to follow our two favorite, cartoon tabby cats.

Thanks for stopping in today to celebrate with Lisbeth and Angel Astrid. We always appreciate your visits and support.

BELATED 12TH ANNIVERSARY OF SUNDAY SELFIES

Sunday Selfies: Week #626

As I was preparing this post, it occurred to me that I started this hop around this time of year. After a bit of math, I discovered I missed our 12th anniversary by two weeks. I truly find it hard to believe we have been doing this every Sunday for such a long of time.

Gibbs, of course, is one of the newbies to the hop. Lisbeth was the host of week #1, and by rights she should be hosting today. However, as her birthday is tomorrow, she declined the honor and is saving her energy for tomorrow.

Gibbs did snap a couple of selfies with his eyes open, but I liked this one best. He didn’t get a vote.

A selfie of a white and black young cat with his eyes mostly closed and his head tilted. framed in a black filigree.

Hop with Us

Gibbs and all the other Kitties Blue look forward to seeing your adorable faces each week. So, they will be looking for you again today or anytime through Thursday. And, as Gibbs has shown, you do not need to be totally awake to participate.

We are not doing anything special to celebrate our anniversary, as we’ll be having a birthday party tomorrow. We do, however, want to thank everyone who has ever participated in our hop, whether it has been from the beginning or more recently. Without your desire to join in the fun, this endeavor would have ended long ago. So, thank you very much!

Remembering Seal

It is with heavy hearts that we say good-bye to another friend. Sweet, blue-eyed and beautiful Seal from Brian’s Home received her angel wings on Friday. We were totally shocked to read this and will miss seeing her. She was dearly loved and will remain so forever. If you have not had the opportunity to leave a message for Dad Terry and Mom Celesta as well as Seal’s fursibs, click on her photo below.

Whether you have hopped or not, thanks for joining us today. Have an easy Sunday … preferably one filled with oodles of treats. Tell your humans that Kitties Blue recommended this.

KATIE ISABELLA: A SAD FARWELL

Awww Mondays/Sparks*

Today’s Awww and Spark are not the usual. When we found out the lovely Katie Isabella had left her life on earth for the Rainbow Bridge, we knew this post had to be for her. She was a beloved kitty and, of course, totally awww-adorable. With that in mind, I created a remembrance for her and included today’s Spark with it. I had intended to include her donkey in the graphic, but then forgot.

Tuxedo Cat (Katie Isabella) with a heart and flower frame and a rainbow and a quote from Audra Lorde," Each time you love, love as deeply as if it were forever."

By clicking on the link in the first sentence you can leave condolences for Katie’s mom, Carole. We send her purrs, prayers love and hugs.

We will be participating in the Awww Mondays blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. Click on the badge below if you would like to join the hop.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Please  don’t forget to join your two favorite adventuring tabby cats tomorrow at Friends Furever.

Our Angel Sawyer continues to live through these adventures as his alter-ego Stinky, and it would mean so much to Mom Sharon, Noelle and myself if you would continue to follow our two favorite, cartoon tabby cats.

Thanks for stopping in today. We always appreciate your visits and support.

A POEM OF PEACE & THANKFULS

Thankful Thursday

We are starting with thankfuls today for Angel Brian’s blog hop.

💐 Ten years ago today, Angel “Mau”ricio and Angel Allie (Friends Furever) were married at Cat Scouts. (Of course, they were not angels at the time.) Scoutmaster officiated and all their friends and fursibs attended.

⛈️ We have been having significant rainfall almost every day. Unfortunately, we remain in an “emergency-level” drought. Rain is approximately 7.8 inches below normal throughout the Commonwealth. This represents the second driest year on record. The driest was 2002. Our region has only received 57 percent of the rain that is normal for this time of year. Nonetheless, we are thankful for what we have been getting and pray it continues.

🥳 Periwinkle & Stinky are thankful for each of you who joined their adventure on Tuesday. They celebrated the anniversary of Angel Sawyer’s Gotcha Day and our blog’s 14th blogoversary.

😸 Kitties Blue and I are thankful for each of you who visit and comment on our posts, and especially for those who join our Sunday Selfies blog hop.

We will be hopping over to Angel Brian’s Home to participate in the Thankful Thursday blog hop. To join us there, click on the Thankful badge.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thursday is also poetry day. The Two Spoiled Cats, Teddy and Angel Sammy, presented us with a bucolic inspiration photo this week. I have added Gibbs to my photo. He is that tiny white and black speck on the deck.  In the poem, his name is Charlie.

A cabin in the peaceful setting in the woods with a cat on the deck.

A Place of Peace

Our cabin in the woods
may look rundown and shabby,
but it brings peace to my soul.

No phone, internet, TV
or noisy, nosey neighbors … just
burbling creek sounds and Charlie.

While I daydream, read or nap,
Charlie chitters at the squirrels
then joins me for a snack.

We watch birds and butterflies,
fireflies, like magical fairies,
when the sun dips behind the trees.

The hours and days pass peacefully.
We enjoy each other and our refuge
until we reluctantly return to city living.

Angel Sammy is the official poet at Two Spoiled Cats. Each Thursday, he transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to brother Teddy. Angel Sammy is a wonderfully talented poet, and I know whatever he wrote this week will be gold-star worthy. We never miss reading his poems and suggest you do the same. You can find this week’s poem by clicking on the poetry badge. While visiting, check out the inspiration photo for next week and join us in writing some poetry. THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CCCL

The Arrival of Periwinkle & Another Kitty

Stinky waits by the teleportation tunnel for Periwinkle. She is always punctual, so he knows he won’t have to wait long. Moments later, the teleportation tunnel begins to vibrate. Periwinkle tumbles out with the familiar whoosh. Before Stinky can set her upright, Noelle tumbles out behind her. Periwinkle is only slightly surprised to see her.

“Stinky, I was fairly certain I knew what you had planned for today, but now that I see Noelle, I know I am right.”

“Well, you are a really smart kitty, so I am not surprised you figured it out. We will be celebrating the anniversary of Angel Sawyer’s second Gotcha Day … the day that our Mom rescued him from his three-and-a-half week walkabout.”

“I am happy that you continue to remember that all important day when Sawyer came home. It truly was a miracle and a relief that he was unharmed,” states Noelle.

“Mom said we could do something today we have not done in the past.”

“Oh, I love a surprise, what is it?” asks Periwinkle.

Giveaway

“We are going to give away two copies of Purrseverance. The winners will be able to read Sawyer’s story as well as that of many of their other friends.”

“That is a super idea. What will readers need to do to win?”

“Just leave a comment on this post before midnight ET on Friday. Mom will use Random.org to select the winners.”

“I know this is a special day for another reason as well,“ says Periwinkle.

“That’s right, it is the fourteenth blogoversary of The Cat on My Head.”

Reminiscing

“It really is a strange coincidence that your mom brought Sawyer home on the anniversary of the blog,” replies Periwinkle.

“I know, and that is not the only unusual occurrence. The person who found Sawyer and snapped his photo lived in the house where Mom and Dad adopted their first kitty, Skooter. A friend of Mom’s lived there in the 80s.”

“He was obviously meant to come home. It is just too bad it took so long,” says Periwinkle.

“I know. That was extra time we all would have loved to have had with him. Mom thinks about him constantly and how much joy and sorrow he brought to our family.”

“So, what are we going to do today besides the give away?”

“That is a very good question?” As Sawyer’s birthday was just three weeks ago, Mom did a post for him then,” replies Stinky.

“Yes, but that was a party. She hasn’t shared photos since she let everyone know he went to the Rainbow Bridge,” interjects Noelle.

“She’s right, Stinky. We should find some photos your mom didn’t share back then, and make a couple more scrapbook pages for him.”

Scrapbooking

“Sure, we are really good at that. I will gather the supplies.”

After Stinky gathers what they need, the three cats get busy selecting some photos. “Lots of these, I don’t remember,” declares Stinky.

“He was such a cutie pie,” says Noelle with a tear in her eye.

“Indeed he was,” agrees Stinky and adds, “We all used to giggle at him when he looked like he was hopping like a bunny. Being a Manx cat, his back legs were longer than his front. Mom says, when she pictures him in her mind, most times that is how she sees him. She thinks his tailless butt was super cute.”

“I’ll agree with that,” says Noelle with a giggle.

“Noelle, I think you should be the first to share the page you made,” says Periwinkle.

“Thanks, I would like to go first. I miss Sawyer so very much.”

“That is so sweet, Noelle,” exclaims Periwinkle as she gives Noelle a hug. “Stinky, is it okay if I go next?”

“Of course.”

“That’s beautiful, Periwinkle,” Stinky says. “I guess it is my turn.”

“I am feeling very sad, now,” states Noelle.

“Oh, I think we all are,” Periwinkle tells her.

“I think I can cheer us all up. Cooper Murphy has baked some cakes—one in memory of Angel Sawyer and one to celebrate the blog’s 14th anniversary. We have beverages to share as well,” Stinky tells Periwinkle and Noelle.

A Celebration Cake and a Remembrance Cake

“As usual, Cooper Murphy has outdone himself,” Noelle exclaims.

“Let’s get all my fursibs together to celebrate the blogoversary and remember Sawyer. He was special, and I know we all wish he was still with us,” suggests Periwinkle.

Stinky goes in search of all the Kitties Blue and they join he, Noelle and Periwinkle for some cake, beverages and a group photo.

Finally, it is time for Noelle and Periwinkle to head home. Noelle thanks Stinky for including her in the remembrance for Angel Sawyer and the blogoversary celebration. She then heads into the teleportation tunnel for the trip home so Periwinkle and Stinky can spend some time together.

The two tabbies spend several minutes paw hugging, whisker kissing, and saying, “I love you,” to each other.  Then Periwinkle enters the teleportation tunnel and with a wave and blown kiss is gone in a whoosh.

Stinky heads to the kitchen to clean up their craft supplies and then finds a nice sunpuddle for a nap and dreams of Periwinkle.

The End

The tabbies, all the Kitties Blue and Noelle will be joining the Happy Tuesday blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. If you would like to do the same, click on the Happy badge.

AN ANGEL’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

Angel Sawyer & Stinky

It does seem quite unlikely that Kitties Blue would be celebrating another birthday, but many of them were born around the same time; though, in different years.

Today would have been our precious Sawyer’s ninth birthday had he not received his angel wings slightly more than six months ago. I suspect he is celebrating at the Rainbow Bridge with friends and his fursibs. And, I am certain his brofur Mau has created a cake for him. But, of course, we have one for him here as well.

A grey Manx angel tabby cat atop a celestial birthday cake.

I think about and miss Sawyer everyday. On his third birthday, we never thought we would see him again, as he had been missing for five days. We were immensely grateful when we did get him home after 24 days. Having him back made our love for him even stronger. He didn’t have an easy life, but it was the best one he could have hoped for as a feral kitten living on his own. And we were blessed to have him in our lives.

Though younger than Angel Sawyer, his alter-ego, Stinky, is celebrating today a well.

Cooper Murphy has mastered the art of creating realistic 3-D renderings of his fursibs.

Both kitties were fortunate to have a celebration in their honor yesterday as well. If you missed that one, you can check it out over at Friends Furever.

We do have some noms and beverages for those of you joining us today. Please, enjoy and stay as long as you like.

Though, this is quite wordy for a Wednesday; Angel Sawyer & Stinky will head over to Comedy Plus to join in the Wordless Wednesday blog hop. To do the same click on the WW badge.

Thank you for celebrating with us. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

C.J.’S GOOD CAT SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #619

Photo of a dilute tortoise shell cat with golden eyes showing off her "good cat" selfie.

On Caturday, we had an unauthorized break-out by 50 percent of the Kitties Blue. It was raining quite hard with lots of thunder when I looked out the kitchen window and saw Tali and Gibbs exploring the backyard. As Dad Tom and I were herding them in, we noticed Cooper Murphy and Kizmet were also outside. After the four were corralled, I went on a hunt for the other four not knowing where they were.

Audrey and Calista Jo were good kitties. They were on the upper deck of the catio and had made no attempt to join in the shenanigans … two good kitties. I knew Lisbeth was in her cat tree in the dining room. That left Raleigh. A search upstairs in the house revealed he was not there. I feared the worst … that we had another escapee. Dad Tom asked if I had checked out under the chair where he hides beneath a slipcover. When I lifted up the edge of the cover and stuck my hand underneath, I heard a growl and a pale ginger cat dashed out from underneath and took off upstairs. All Kitties Blue accounted for.

So, Calista Jo was a good girl. She had the opportunity to bolt and did not! And that makes her the winner of this week’s selfie lottery and your host this week.

C.J. hopes you like her selfie, and will join her on the hop by linking up yours. All the Kitties Blue as well as your other friends will be looking for you right here anytime through Thursday.

Saying Good-Bye

Good-byes always suck, and this one is particularly rough.

We learned that Ellie Mae (Momma Kat & Her Bear Cat) received her angel wings yesterday after a nearly two year battle with cancer as well as other health issues. I am not on Facebook (Dad Tom is), and Kat has written extensively there about Ellie Mae’s cancer treatment and recent issues. If you would like to leave condolences, I suggest doing so on Facebook (Kat Kern), as Kat hasn’t posted on the blog in the past year.

Kitties Blue and I are sending all our love and sympathy to Kat. She is a very special person to me.

Whether you hop or not, thanks for stopping in to visit us today.

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CCCXLIV

World Pet Memorial Day

Stinky is delighted when he sees the teleportation tunnel begin to vibrate, and Periwinkle comes tumbling out in a whoosh. One day a week together is never enough. He lets her know how excited he is by wrapping her in a big paw hug and showering her with oodles of whisker kisses. When he stops, Periwinkle says, “Wow, that was quite a greeting. I know I am happy to be here, and now I know how happy you are to see me.”

Stinky blushes and gives her paw a squeeze.

Periwinkle smiles and says, “I bet I know what we are doing today.”

“I am certain you do, as we have done it several times before,” Stinky replies.

“It is World Pet Memorial Day, and we are going to do something to remember our angels.”

Stinky claps and exclaims, “Right-oh, Miss Smarty Pants.”

Periwinkle giggles at his reply and then asks about his plan for the day.

“As Astrid and Sawyer went to the Rainbow Bridge since we did this last year, I thought we would concentrate on them,” Stinky replies.

“Good idea, what did you have in mind?”

“I know Mom made a special post for Astrid & we did one for Sawyer when they received their angel wings, so I thought we would share the links to those for anyone who may not have seen them or would like to look at them again.”

“THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CCCXXII A Message from Periwinkle & Stinky”

“I also think we should make a nice graphic to celebrate them today.”

“You know I enjoy an art project. Let’s get busy,” replies Periwinkle.

Two cartoon tabby cats making a poster with two cats that have gone to the Rainbow Bridge for World Pet Memorial Day 2026.

“Stinky, I think it is so cool that Astrid and Stinky’s photos are almost identical,” says Periwinkle.

“I know. Astrid used to sit and look up at Mom and Dad at meal time. She never made a sound or begged. Astrid just sat and waited with the hope of getting a tidbit from their food. And she usually did if they were eating something that wouldn’t hurt her. She taught Sawyer how to do it, and after she went to the Bridge, he sat in exactly the same spot waiting for a smidgen of something nommy. He, however, was not so quiet, and he would get up and dance around as well.”

“That is cool how he learned from Astrid.”

“It was, but he only had three months after Astrid got her wings before he joined her,” laments Stinky.

“I know. That totally sucked.”

Stinky takes Periwinkle’s paw, and both tabbies are quiet for a while as they remember Astrid and Sawyer and admire their work.

Visiting Astrid

“Periwinkle, I think we should visit Astrid. Mom got a gift for Mother’s Day that she has used for a marker.”

“Oh yes, let’s,” agrees Periwinkle.

Two cartoon tabby cats in a garden with a statue of two tuxedo cats, pink and yellow flowers and a sign reading, "Love Grows Here," with a bird sitting on top.

“That is so cute. It looks as if Gibbs and Lisbeth and keeping Astrid safe,” remarks Periwinkle. She continues, “I know most of your fursibs are buried in your gardens, Stinky.”

“Yes, all the kitties, except Fiona, Lily Olivia and Sawyer are here, as well as Mom and Dad’s two woofies, Smack and Poppy. Mom and Dad have lived in this house for more than 40 years. They never had to leave anybody behind at another place.”

“Wow, that’s amazing? I bet it is comforting to know where all their furkids are. But, where are Lily Olivia, Fiona and Sawyer?” asks Periwinkle.”

“Come on, I’ll show you,” replies Stinky. He takes Periwinkle’s paw and leads her back into the house.

Visiting Three Angels

In the living room, Stinky shows Periwinkle the top of the piano.

The top of a piano with urns and portraits of cats as well as angel figurines. for World Pet Memorial Day.

“That is a beautiful display for so many angel kitties. And the angel figurines are really sweet. But, I see a couple that weren’t Kitties Blue.”

“Yes, Astrid’s husband Sampy is on the far right next to the drawing of her his mom Emily made. And the little photo in the middle is Lisbeth’s boyfriend Charles in his Cat Scout uniform.“

“How come all the Kitties Blue angels don’t have photos here?”

“There are just too many of them, so Mom has their photos in different rooms, like the bedroom and foyer and on various walls in collages.”

“That’s nice that she has photos throughout the house. She and your dad don’t have to go to one specific room to see and remember them.“

“That’s true, but even if they didn’t have photos and mementos and the blog, they could never forget any of the Kitties Blue.”

“I know that is true. It is the same with my mom. How can other pet parents remember their beloved fur family today?” Periwinkle asks.

“I found a good article at Wellness Pet. Those interested just need to click on the link. We are doing pretty much everything suggested in the article.”

Visiting Mau

“You know, we haven’t visited Mau in a while. Do you think we could do that?”

“Sure, let’s go back outside,” says Stinky and takes Periwinkle’s paw.

Stinky points out that the little tuxedo cat marks where Mau is buried.

Periwinkle asks if they can share a photo of the plaque that Lisbeth’s boyfriend Charles’ mom, Inge, sent to honor Mau and her sisfur Allie.

A stone plaque in a garden with tulips and the words, "Mauricio and Allie's Garden Forever Loved & in our hearts."

“That photo was taken in the spring. No flowers are blooming now, but the day lilies should be very soon. Mom used that photo as a Spark, as you can see,” Stinky explains.

“Stinky, that Spark is so purrfect!”

“Periwinkle are you ready for a snack?”

“I like that idea a lot.”

“Great, my mom set one up on the porch for us.”

“Stinky, I am happy that we have been able to remember Astrid and Sawyer today as well as some of the other angels in your family. I pray that neither your family nor mine lose any precious furkids prior to next year’s World Pet Memorial Day.”

“I totally agree, Periwinkle. It is just so sad and super difficult for our humans to say good-bye. Now, unfortunately I have to say, good-bye, to you until next week. I miss you so much while we are apart.”

“Stinky, I miss you too. I love you very much.”

“And, I love you.”

After exchanging paw hugs and whisker kisses, Stinky and Periwinkle walk to the teleportation tunnel. Periwinkle enters and with a blown kiss and a wave, she is gone in a whoosh.

HUMAN CAT FURNITURE

Feline Friday

This is a typical day at the House of Blue Cats. If it is not the kittens treating me like furniture, then it is Kizmet or Calista Jo (who has taken over my lap as I write this post).

Another Heartbreaking Good-Bye

Mom Ellen and Dad David’s beautiful and sweet Penny (15AndMeowing) was helped to the Rainbow Bridge on Thursday as the result of failing health.

Kitties Blue and I are sending Ellen and David all our love and hugs as they grieve the devastating loss of their beautiful tortie girl.

Friendly Fill-Ins

The Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop is hosted each Friday by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). They publish the fill-in sentences on their blogs each Thursday. To participate in the hop, click on the badge at the left. I completed three of the fill-ins this week. Stinky and I both did #1. Stinky also completed #2. We used teal italics to fill in the blanks.

1. I know I am having a good day when I am laughing.

1. Stinky: I know I am having a good day when I am adventuring with Periwinkle.

2. Stinky: I am happy when I am with Periwinkle.

3. Not being able to button my clothes makes me feel helpless.

4. I have a lot of confidence in my ability to write and edit.

Thanks for visiting us today. If you have the opportunity, please visit Ellen and David and leave your condolences.
