Asrid & Sampson

ASTRID & SAMPY’S THIRD ANNIVERSARY

Sawyer Update

Before we get to Sunday Selfies, and the celebration of Astrid and Kitty Cat Chronicles’ Sampson’s third anniversary, I know many of you are waiting for a Sawyer update.

He had a quiet night at the ER Vet with no additional seizures. Dad Tom checked on him early yesterday morning and got the okay to pick him up. He spent the day and evening snoozing, which I expect he’ll do for a few days. He’s eaten his meals and gotten his meds.

Like most animals, Sawyer doesn’t liked being hospitalized and stuck in a cage. He whapped some of the ER Vet employees. He got mad at me as well and sunk his claws into my face and bit my lip. Luckily he didn’t break the skin with his bite.

Dad Tom and I and Sawyer are overwhelmed by the outpouring of purrs, prayers, POTP, love and support. This blogging community is made up of the most compassionate an caring people. Thank you for being our friends and caring about our little guy and all the Kitties Blue.

Dad Tom will continue to let everyone on Facebook know how Sawyer is doing, and I will continue to update here on the blog.

Sunday Selfies: Week #254

It would seem appropriate for Sawyer to have the selfie today (He did get a welcome home photo.), but Astrid gets the honor as it is her anniversary. Her selfie is a card for husband Sampy.

KITTIES BLUE VALENTINES

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Before getting to the Valentines we are sending, we are letting Mom post the poem she wrote for Teddy and Angel Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday.

This is the inspiration photo provided. Mom’s poem is below it.

Mothers & Daughters

Love between mother and child—
A special gift they give each other.
Their bond unbreakable; though,
Changing as each grows older.
My mother lived until I was 16.
I often wonder what our relationship
Might have been today at 69 and 98.
I envy friends who have their mothers;
Even if, their relationship isn’t perfect.
I know love grows beneath it and
Can be rekindled and nurtured.

© Janet Buickerood Blue 02/13/2019

If you’d like to participate in Thoroughly Poetic Thursday, check out the post each Thursday at Two Spoiled Cats. You will find the inspiration photo for a poem to be posted on your blog the following Thursday. Angel Sammy writes a poem each week and sends it to Teddy from the Rainbow Bridge. Thankful Thursday

Now it’s time for those Valentines. We are posting them as part of the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Brian. We all are grateful to have love in our lives from our humans who care for us. Some of us also are thankful for the love and “like” of other kitties. Not all of us have a Valentine, and Misty May posted hers yesterday. Here are the others.

Sawyer received his very first Valentine from Allie’s little sisfur, Noelle (Friends Furever). He was stunned and delighted and, of course, wanted to reciprocate.

Cooper Murphy is quite smitten with one of his Cat Scout friends, Tyebe (Canadian Cats). They attended the Cat Scouts Super Bowl Party as friends, and will be attending today’s Cat Scouts Valentine’s Day Party together. Her mom thinks Tyebe is too young to date, but is allowing Tyebe and Cooper Murphy to attend events together as friends.

Wishing everyone a day of love.

THANKSGIVING-THEMED FILL-INS

Friday Fill-Ins Week #131

Friendly Fill-Ins is a weekly blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). We participate each week, as we think it is nice to get to know our fellow bloggers a bit better.

Each Thursday Ellen and Lorianne post four sentences to be completed. Then the participants post their filled-in sentences on Friday. The hop is at Four-Legged Furballs. Click on the badge at the left to go there.

I completed the Fill-Ins this week except for #1, which Kitties Blue completed. Our completions are in teal italics.

1. Kitties Blue: I We can’t wait to have nip and treats on Thanksgiving. (While Mom and Dad are having Thanksgiving with Dad Tom’s family, Chris will be spoiling us!)

2. I am thankful for having the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with family again this year.

3. When it comes to pie, pumpkin and pecan are best at Thanksgiving, but my very favorite is apricot.

4. A feast is not a feast without others to share it with you.

When Mau saw the theme of this week’s Fill-Ins, he asked if he could stop in today in his turkey costume. He’s really cute, so I could not turn him down. And after all, he really is a big “turkey” most days!

ANNIVERSARY ART

Caturday Art

Today’s art is special as it is in celebration of a wonderful and memorable occasion—Astrid and Kitty Cat Chronicles’ Sampson’s second wedding anniversary.

Anniversary Caturday Art

Astrid and Sampy married at the BlogPaws Conference in Phoenix in 2016. Here’s one of their official wedding photos. Calista Jo was maid of honor and Mau was best man.

To create the arty card, I used Adornpic, Picasa, PicMonkey and piZap. It’s my entry in Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art Blog Hop. To join in the blog hop or see creations by your fellow bloggers, click on Athena’s badge.

ASTRID’S FLASHBACK SUNDAY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #200

This is not the Sunday Selfies post Mom had planned for today. She didn’t expect such a milestone, as 200 weeks of posting Sunday Selfies, to be so difficult. Yesterday around 5 p.m. the track pad on Mom’s laptop D-I-E-D, which meant she couldn’t even sign on to the laptop. Of course, her extended warranty is no longer valid.

Mom searched and tried everything she found on-line to get it up and working again to no avail. She did not have a mouse paired with that laptop, so switching to that was not an option. That left the iPad or her old laptop available for producing a post.

She knew the iPad would be a pain in the backside and so booted up the old laptop. It’s trackpad hasn’t worked in ages, but she did have a mouse paired with it. So that’s where I am posting from today. And I am posting an old photo for my selfie. Mom could have tried to upload some new photos, but she was so frustrated I told her not to bother.

The selfie I am sharing is from June, 2015. I posted a similar photo as a selfie three years ago. I am wearing a flower that my yet to be husband Sampy‘s mom, Emily, made for me. Now I wear a collar with rhinestone charms from Sampy. Anyhoo, here’s my selfie.

Blog Hop

Here’s that stupid stuff important info Mom always wants us to post about hopping. I say, “Ignore it!” Just take your selfie, link it up, and if you have the time, leave us a comment. Easy peasy!

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • Posting on Sundays is not necessary to join.
  • You do not need to be a cat to enter. All anipals are welcome regardless of species.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.

Contacting Us

The other problem with this old laptop is that e-mail doesn’t work on it. Mom’s tried to fix it over and over again, including last night, but has never been successful. If anyone needs to contact us, please use Mom’s private e-mail at jbblue@cox.net. She can pick that up on the phone or iPad.

Thanks for joining us today. Whether you hop every week or are a newbie, all the Kitties Blue are delighted to welcome you here.

Purrs and paw-pats, Astrid (with love and kisses for Sampy)

p.s. Mom promises to let everyone know when things are back to normal.

LOVE, MARRIAGE & OLYMPICS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #66

It’s time for Friendly Fill-Ins again. The weeks just keep speeding by like a runaway train. I’m afraid to blink for fear when I open my eyes, it will be Christmas.

This is a blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Each select two incomplete sentences, and participants fill-in the blanks. It’s a terrific way to get to know your fellow bloggers. To join the blog hop, click on the Fill-Ins badge.

I found this week’s sentences to be particularly challenging. Sometimes one or more of Kitties Blue will do the fill-ins, but I have done them all this week. My completions are in teal italics.

1. Blind dates led to the marriage of Astrid to Sampson (Kitty Cat Chronicles). It all started with my post, Match.Cat, on January 30, 2014. All the girls were looking for dates for the upcoming Valentine’s Day Dance, so I posted their bios on-line with the hope of getting dates for them. (Mau didn’t need to advertise. He and Allie already were boyfriend and girlfriend.)

Here are Astrid and Sampson on that first blind date.

Blind date led to marriage.

2.  Twenty-one years ago, I was a scorekeeper for indoor volleyball at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Dad Tom was a referee.

marriage

3. I admire Kevin (meowmeowmans) and Tracey Hatori (Animal Shelter Volunteer Lifewho give so generously of their time as volunteers at PAWS of Connecticut because the job requires more than just playing with kittens. Not all animals in shelters are friendly and loving nor are all jobs fun; cages and litter boxes require cleaning after all. I know Kevin and Tracey would agree the thanks that come in the way of head butts, kisses, purrs and kneading make it all worthwhile.

4. When I see the divorce rate, it makes me think how fortunate I am to have a great husband and to have been married for 44 years.

See you tomorrow for Caturday Art and then it is time for selfies again.

ASTRID & SAMPY CELEBRATE 1ST ANNIVERSARY

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #59

As we do each Friday, Kitties Blue are entering the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop. This hop is hosted by Ellen (15AndMeowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Ellen creates the first two statements for us to complete and Annie the second two. To enter the blog hop, click on the badge below and be whisked away to Annie’s blog.

Two cats and two humans completed the fill-ins this week. As always, our completions are in teal italics.

ASTRID: 1. A recurring dream I have is of my sweet husband, Sampson, from Kitty Cat Chronicles. Today is our first wedding anniversary. We were married last year in Phoenix at the BlogPaws Conference.

Astrid & Sampy celebrate their 1st anniversary.

DAD TOM: 2. If I could turn cat poo into money, we’d be rich. Dad cheated a bit on this one and added the three words at the beginning where a fill-in blank did not exist.

PETRETARY: 3. Lily Olivia is driving me crazy! If you are wondering why, here’s the reason: She constantly walks across the laptop keyboard making a circle around it so she can cross over again and again. When she is sitting in my lap, she must have her paws on the track pad, so I am unable to do anything.

MAU: 4. Lately, I have been wrasslin’ a lot with my brother, Cooper Murphy. It is all in good fun, of course! Cooper’s the one making all the noise!

Jackson Galaxy® Space Station Giveaway

As part of her birthday celebration, Calista Jo is giving away this really fun toy. The kitties reviewed it on Tuesday in their post, Space Station: Best Toy Ever. But to have the opportunity to win one, you must leave a comment on yesterday’s post, Birthday Party and Space Station Giveaway. Leave your comment prior to Monday, June 26, 5 p.m. ET for the chance to win. Random.org will be used to select the recipient, and the winner’s name will be posted the following day.

Calista Jo asked to show you a short video of her playing with the Space Station. Of course, as soon as I spoke to her, she quit playing and walked away.

We’ll be back tomorrow to share our Caturday Art and to participate in the very important Cat World Domination Day.

CATURDAY ART FEATURING GUEST, SOPHIE

Caturday Art

I suspect I’ll pay dearly for this post when I get home. I most likely will be getting the cold shoulder and silent treatment all around. Did I hear you ask, “Why?” I’ll let you see for yourselves.

Sophie Hall as Caturday Art

Can you tell what the problem is? This cat may look a bit like Lily Olivia, but it isn’t. This is the sweet, birthday girl from yesterday, Sophie, from Kitty Cat Chronicles. She is here with Mom Emily and Dad Bobby as well as two of her brothers, Kylo Ren and Caster. Most of you know by now that my Astrid married Emily and Bobby’s Sampson at BlogPaws last year.

Sophie is so beautiful and charming, loves everyone and has no idea she has CH (Cerebellar Hypoplasia). I have delighted in watching Dad Bobby as well as Dad Tom walking her around on her leash. She exudes exuberance and unabashed joy. I cannot help but smile when I see her.

I created today’s art selection using PicMonkey. This is not my original version, which I unfortunately lost in a computer hiccup. When I tried to recreate it, I couldn’t remember in which order I’d used the various effects and filters. Consequently, this does not look as good as the original art piece.

Here’s the photo of Sophie I used as the base for today’s Caturday Art. She was sitting on Mom Emily’s lap.

Caturday Art - before

This is my entry into Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. To submit some art of your own and/or see the beautiful art created by your fellow bloggers, please click on her badge.

I’d like to say, “thank you” to Athena and her mum, Marie, for having this hop each week. I always look forward to “playing” with all the various on-line, photo-editing apps.

Sunday Selfies

Here’s your usual reminder to get those selfies snapped for tomorrow’s  blog hop. Since Dad Tom and I still will be at the BlogPaws Conference, a good chance exists that I will not be featuring one of the Kitties Blue. I doubt this will get me into any trouble with them.

Please keep in mind that you do not need to post on Sunday to participate. The hop always remains open through Thursday.

If you’d like to know what’s been happening at the conference, check-out Twitter for items posted with #BlogPaws.

HAND OVER THOSE CHEERIOS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week 53

It’s Friday so that means it is time for Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by our good friends, Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Each week they create four sentences to be completed by participants. Ellen creates the first two and Annie the second two.

This week some of Kitties Blue are helping me with the completions. We are using teal italics to indicate our fill-ins.

This is a blog hop. You can join by clicking on the badge above, which will take you to Annie’s blog.

Lily Olivia: 1. My favorite cereal is Cheerios. I sit and stare at Dad and his bowl until he gives me some. I used to be content with eating them dry, but once I discovered them dampened by milk, I refuse to eat them any other way.

Cheerios

Hand over those Cheerios now…or you’ll be sorry. I have claws, and I’m not afraid to use them.

Astrid: 2. My prom was non-existent, but I have been to several parties and dances at Cat Scouts with my handsome husband, Scout Sampson Hall (Kitty Cat Chronicles). You can read more about our relationship and see a slideshow here.

Petretary: 3. The most difficult thing about blogging is there is always more to learn.

Misty May: 4. I cannot help myself when it comes to bullying Astrid, but I have never physically hurt her. I just like to hear her squeal.

Cheerios

Where’s that whippersnapper? I have some terrorizing to do!

That’s it for us today. We’ll be back tomorrow with our submission for the Caturday Art blog hop. And don’t forget our Sunday Selfies blog hop the following day.
