Birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOELLE

Wordy Wednesday

I received a message from Angel Sawyer yesterday admonishing me as well as Periwinkle and Stinky for not acknowledging his girlfriend Noelle’s birthday. She turned nine yesterday, but instead of celebrating the tabbies adventure was all about Ginger Cat Appreciation Day. Noelle had a party yesterday on her blog at Friends Furever with a cake from Cooper Murphy. We, however, are celebrating it here today with another cake from Cooper.

Before we share Noelle’s cake, Angel Sawyer sent a card for her.

It totally breaks my heart that Sawyer is no longer here with us to celebrate Noelle. I know Noelle and her mom feel the same.

Nonetheless, we cannot fail to remember and celebrate this precious girl. Please join us in wishing her a happy birthday, enjoying a piece of cake and a beverage.

All the Kitties Blue as well as Dad Tom and I send birthday greetings to Noelle.

In spite of the wordiness, we will be joining the Wordless Wednesday blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. You can do the same by clicking on the WW badge.

Thanks for joining the party today. We’ll be back tomorrow with thankfuls and most likely a poem as well.

LISBETH & ANGEL ASTRID’S 15TH BIRTHDAY

Awww Mondays

Two of our most awww-adorable Kitties Blue turn 15 today. Lisbeth is celebrating here with us and Angel Astrid will be celebrating at the Rainbow Bridge, as she left us last October. We miss her bunches and do have a birthday card for her.

I am certain Angel Mau will have baked a cake and planned a party for our sweet angel. I also know her precious husband, Angel Sampy, will be there for the celebration.

Here is a card for our darling Lisbeth.

Of course, a cake was prepared by our very own pastry chef, Cooper Murphy.

We do hope you will join us for cake and some snacks and beverages.

Lisbeth and Angel Astrid will participate in the Awww Mondays blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. To join them, click on the Awww badge.

Sparks

I selected a Spark I thought would be appropriate for a birthday.

A quote from Ausonius, "Let us never know what old age is. Let us know the happiness time brings, not count the years."

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. It began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow, your two favorite tabby cats will be adventuring again. It is Stinky’s turn to plan their adventure, so you will be able to find them right here. Stinky has failed to share with me what he has planned. I am certain, however, it will be something fun, so I definitely think you will want to check it out, and you know they will be looking for you to join them.

Our Angel Sawyer continues to live through these adventures as his alter-ego Stinky, and it would mean so much to Mom Sharon, Noelle and myself if you would continue to follow our two favorite, cartoon tabby cats.

Thanks for stopping in today to celebrate with Lisbeth and Angel Astrid. We always appreciate your visits and support.

AN ANGEL’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

Angel Sawyer & Stinky

It does seem quite unlikely that Kitties Blue would be celebrating another birthday, but many of them were born around the same time; though, in different years.

Today would have been our precious Sawyer’s ninth birthday had he not received his angel wings slightly more than six months ago. I suspect he is celebrating at the Rainbow Bridge with friends and his fursibs. And, I am certain his brofur Mau has created a cake for him. But, of course, we have one for him here as well.

A grey Manx angel tabby cat atop a celestial birthday cake.

I think about and miss Sawyer everyday. On his third birthday, we never thought we would see him again, as he had been missing for five days. We were immensely grateful when we did get him home after 24 days. Having him back made our love for him even stronger. He didn’t have an easy life, but it was the best one he could have hoped for as a feral kitten living on his own. And we were blessed to have him in our lives.

Though younger than Angel Sawyer, his alter-ego, Stinky, is celebrating today a well.

A grey cartoon tabby cat wearing sunglasses, red high-top tennis shoes and a red bow tie atop a grey and white striped birthday cake with pink roses.

Cooper Murphy has mastered the art of creating realistic 3-D renderings of his fursibs.

Both kitties were fortunate to have a celebration in their honor yesterday as well. If you missed that one, you can check it out over at Friends Furever.

We do have some noms and beverages for those of you joining us today. Please, enjoy and stay as long as you like.

Though, this is quite wordy for a Wednesday; Angel Sawyer & Stinky will head over to Comedy Plus to join in the Wordless Wednesday blog hop. To do the same click on the WW badge.

Thank you for celebrating with us. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

KIZMET: ANOTHER MISSED BIRTHDAY & THANKS

June and its important holidays have gotten the better of me. I have barely managed to celebrate any of them on the correct days. So, once again I have missed another birthday (from Tuesday) as well as Cat World Domination Day from yesterday. As this cat believes the latter was invented with her in mind, we will celebrate both today.

Super Meowdel’s 6th Birthday

As Periwinkle & Stinky were off on their weekly adventure Tuesday, we should have been celebrating Kizmet’s birthday. I guess, as we were two days late for Calista Jo’s, Kizmet is not getting any worse treatment.

Collage of a grey kitten, Kizmet, and the same grey cat on her sixth birthday.

Kizmet: Then & Now

Kizmet was our COVID kitty, adopted in December of 2020. We were not even allowed to hold her until after we had officially adopted her.

She’s is the most social of all the Kitties Blue, and she is our official super meowdel. In the now photo, she is giving some birdies a tongue lashing, which does not really show her in super meowdel mode.

Without further preamble or ado, let’s do some celebrating.

As always, there is a gorgeous cake from resident baker, Cooper Murphy. When you compare his caricature of Kizmet to her kitten photo, we think he totally caught her personality.

Purple birthday cake with white and purple striped candy mice and at the caricature of a grey cat named, Kizmet, on the top.

To accompany the cake we have a seafood buffet and some beverages.

Please enjoy the party. In the meantime, I will share some thankfuls for the week.

Thankful Thursday

Dad Tom and I are so thankful for Kizmet. She is a purrfect greeter for anyone who visits, and she definitely was a light in our lives during COVID when we were stuck at home. There isn’t anybody she doesn’t love, except for possibly Tali and Gibbs.

Dad Tom and I completed nine years on the Peloton. My abilities have diminished over time, but I have no intention of quitting anytime soon. Tom now rides his electric bike more often than Peloton, but as long as we are able to be active, we are both super grateful.

Calista Jo is thankful to all those who joined her for her birthday party and left comments for her.

I had a great day on Tuesday for which I am truly thankful. My friend Mary Jane surprised me with a visit that morning. Shortly after she left, I received a telephone call from a dear friend who moved from here nearly 20 years ago. Dad Tom and I are going to plan a road trip to Maine in the fall to visit her. We will make plans to visit some other friends on the way there and home as well.

Periwinkle & Stinky wish to thank Dalton and Benji’s mom, Ingrid, from Meezer’s Mews & Terrieristical Woofs, for suggesting they visit Grouse Mountain, Vancouver, British Columbia, for their recent adventure. They also appreciate those of you who adventured with them and left comments on their post.

And, of course, Kitties Blue and I are thankful for each of you who visit and comment and especially for those who hop with us for Sunday Selfies.

We will be participating in Angel Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop. To do the same click on the Thankful badge.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Normally, I would be sharing a poem today based on an inspirational photo provided by Angel Sammy and Teddy from Two Spoiled Cats. However, with everything else going on in this post, I am saving that for tomorrow.

Thanks for dropping in to see us today.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO C.J.

An Awww Mondays Birthday Celebration

I knew Calista Jo’s birthday was on the horizon, but didn’t realize we had inadvertently passed it by a couple of days. She doesn’t know we are late. If she did, she would be complaining non-stop. Complaining, in a high-pitched whine, is what she does best.

Calista Jo joined the Kitties Blue crew shortly after I began this blog. She was our second Barn Cat Buddy (BCB) adoption. She was a member of a litter of four cats (three girls and one boy). Her name at the time was Josette (Josie for short), which didn’t really suit her. But more about that later.

C.J. and her sisters were at a BCB adoption event. I attended in order to drop off catnip toys, which at the time I was making for the group to sell. I was attracted to Josie, and told my friend Diane (the founder and President of BCB at that time), that if no one else wanted to adopt her, I might be interested. By the time I left the event, a couple and their teenage son had completed an adoption application for Josie. I have always believed if something is meant to happen it will, so I went home with no regrets.

A few days later, I got a call from Diane. The adoption application for Josie had not been approved. She would be coming to the house to deliver her. It was meant to be after all.

Here is the official announcement of her arrival with some cute kitten photos: “New Barn Cat Buddy Joins Blue Household.”

Renaming

We decided to keep Josette as our new kitten’s middle name. None of the names on my list of potential cat names, however, seemed to fit with it. While running names through my brain, Calista popped into it and stuck. As they say, the rest is history, and Calista Josette has now reached the age of 14.

Let’s Party

As we always do, we asked our resident baker, Cooper Murphy, to create a cake for C.J. Once again, I think he outdid himself.

Of course, we have some beverages and noms to share as well.

A Birthday Spark

A dilute tortoise shell cat celebrates her birthday with a Spark from Madeleine L'Engle and a current photo of herself and one as a kitten for Awww Mondays.

I did use this Spark six years ago, but it seemed appropriate again.

The author, Madeleine L’Engle (1918 – 2007), was an American writer of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and young adult fiction. She’s best known for A Wrinkle in Time and its sequels.

Calista Jo will be participating in the Awww Mondays blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. If you would like to join her there, click on the Awww badge.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow, your two favorite tabby cats will be adventuring again. It is Stinky’s turn to plan their adventure, so you’ll be able to find them right here. Stinky has shared none of his plans with me, and so I cannot give you any hints as to what they might get up to. They always have fun, though, and will be looking for you to join them.

Our Angel Sawyer continues to live through these adventures as his alter-ego Stinky, and it would mean so much to Mom Sharon, Noelle and myself if you would continue to follow our two favorite, cartoon tabby cats.

Thanks for stopping in and celebrating with us today. We always appreciate your visits and support.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY & FILL-INS

Feline & Flashback Friday

On June 1st, I received a note from our vet wishing Audrey a happy birthday. Then on June 3rd, I received one wishing Raleigh a happy birthday. Obviously their birthday is the same day, and I never knew the exact date. Usually our vet will assign a date based on what their physical development is when I take them in for the first time. So, it would seem that is somewhere at the beginning of June.

Their Gotcha Day is July 26, 2022. Today for the Feline Friday blog hop, I am sharing a photo taken the day after they arrived here.

At that time, we had not named them and were calling then Kitten #1 and Kitten #2. As this is somewhere close to their date of birth, I asked Cooper Murphy to bake them a cake.

I think Cooper Murphy outdid himself with this cake. Mau definitely would be proud of him.

I hope you will help us celebrate and join us for some grilled shrimpies, cake, beverages and nip ice cream.

Today we are joining the Feline Friday blog hop hosted by messymimi’s meanderings and also the Flashback Friday blog hop hosted by the Five Sibes. To join one or both, click on the appropriate badge below.

Friendly Fill-Ins

The Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop is hosted each Friday by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). They publish the fill-in sentences on their blogs each Thursday. To participate in the hop, click on the badge at the left. I was left to do all the fill-ins myself this week. I used teal italics to complete the sentences. Any explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. My plans for June include getting together with my friend Mary Jane and my friend Tammy. (They are both school nurses and are now off for the summer.)

2. Flying alone to France at age 16 to tour Europe and attend a summer program at the American College in Paris without knowing any of the other participants is the bravest thing I have ever done.

3. I swear by living with multiple cats as a cure for loneliness.

4. As if Trump wasn’t bad enough, most of his appointees also are idiots.

Thanks for stopping in today. We’ll be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art.

🎈BIRTHDAY🎈& FILL-INS

Feline Friday

Today, all eight of us are sharing Feline Friday with our dad. It is his birthday, and we cannot go without celebrating him.

A collage of eight cats and their dad with the words, "Happy Birthday Dad Tom"

Dad’s absolute favorite cake is “Death by Chocolate,” from a favorite local restaurant/bakery. He will probably get one of those. In the interim, however, we got Cooper Murphy to make him a yummy a cake.

And we have some beverages.

Hope you’ll join us, and wish our dad a Happy Birthday.

We kitties are going to be heading over to the Feline Friday blog hop hosted by messymimi’s meanderings. To do the same, click on the badge below.

I completed all the fill-ins without any assistance this week and used teal italics to do so. Any explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. My zodiac sign is Pisces and so is Dad Tom’s.

2. My Chinese zodiac animal sign is the ox. (I am pretty stubborn, so I guess that is appropriate.)

3. For me,  Christmas brings back memories of my grandpa, whose birthday was Christmas Eve.

4. Tali and Gibbs is are the only thing(s) keeping me from wallowing in depression over the loss of Astrid and Sawyer.

ANOTHER MISSED BIRTHDAY

Happy Tabby Tuesday

It goes without saying that I have lost control. I missed another Kitties Blue birthday. In my defense, the vet assigned yesterday as Cooper Murphy’s birthday. And, they kindly sent Cooper a birthday greeting yesterday, which is how I discovered I missed it.

Normally, I would not be posting today. It is the day for Periwinkle and Stinky’s adventure and Periwinkle’s day to plan what they are doing. So don’t forget to stop in at Friends Furever and see what they are doing. But first, please help us celebrate Cooper Murphy’s birthday.

Cooper Murphy was enjoying his birthday yesterday.

His fursibs and I made a card.

We never ask Cooper Murphy to bake his own birthday cake. As Stinky and Periwinkle have done a lot of baking lately, Stinky stepped up and created a super cute (and I am certain tasty) cake.

Birthday cake for an orange tabby cat.

As we always do for any celebration, we are offering a variety of beverages and some yummy nip ice cream.

Nothing could be happier than a celebration and so Cooper Murphy will be participating in the Happy Tuesday blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. If you would like to join him, click on the Happy badge.

If you are unfamiliar with Cooper’s story and how he became a member of the Kitties Blue, check out these posts: “IS THIS EIGHTEENTH KITTIES BLUE?” and “IT’S OFFICIAL: WELCOMING NEW FAMILY MEMBER.”

Thank you for joining Cooper Murphy’s belated birthday celebration. We will be back tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday; though, I have no idea if it will be wordless.

BOO-BOO SELFIE & AN EARLY BIRTHDAY

Sunday Selfies: Week #582

I do not believe what has occurred today has ever happened in the history of Sunday Selfies. Sawyer volunteered to take a selfie and be your host today.

Grey tabby cat with a boo-boo on his nose in a selfie surrounded by autumn flowers.

Unfortunately he has a boo-boo on his nose. We have no idea how he got it. We hope it was not from the paw of another of the Kitties Blue.

Early Birthday Wishes

Sawyer requested taking the selfie today as October 16 is Noelle and Periwinkle’s mom, Sharon’s birthday (Friends Furever). He hopes she does not mind an early celebration. As Thursday is poetry and thankful day as well as National Feral Cat Day, it is already quite busy. And, if he had waited, it would not be the surprise he hopes it is today!

Sawyer has been super busy with making a card, helping Cooper Murphy bake a cake and gathering flowers.

We hope you will take a few minutes to celebrate with us and toast Mom Sharon.

Hopping Time

Once you have celebrated, Sawyer and all the Kitties Blue hope you will take time to snap and post a selfie and then join the hop. You actually have through Thursday to do just that. Do not forget that all your friends will be looking for you here, and that the is also a great place to make new friends.

Thanks for visiting today. We hope you’ll be joining us.

BIRTHDAY POEM & THANKFULS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

So we are back this Thursday with both poetry and some thankfuls. I am beginning with a poem based on an inspiration photo provided by Angel Sammy and Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats). Here’s the photo followed by my poem.

A frog band present a birthday poem and thankfuls.

The Birthday Band

I hired the renowned frog birthday band
to put on a concert for a special friend.
Their music was totally melodious,
and their singing almost harmonious.
Until they got to “We wish you a happy birthday.”
Then I had to put my fingers in my ears,
as their croaking nearly brought me to tears.
Next year, I think I’ll just send a card!

© Janet Buickerood Blue – 09/24/2025

I have a couple of things to accompany my poem, as today is Teddy and Angel Sammy’s mom’s birthday.

Colorful birthday card for Pam.

And, of course, we have a cake courtesy of Cooper Murphy.

Four-tier birthday cake with aqua and pink stars and pink flowers and the words, "Happy Birthday Pam."

Pam, Kitties Blue and I wish you the happiest of birthdays filled with love, joy and oodles of Teddy purrs and cuddles.

Each week Angel Sammy transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to Teddy for publication. Angel Sammy always writes a terrific poem, so you do not want to miss checking it out. Just click on the poetry badge to head over to Two Spoiled Cats and read his poem. While visiting, check out the inspiration photo for next week and join us in writing some poetry.

Thankful Thursday

I have several thankfuls this week.

I am grateful for my wonderful friend, Pam. If you have the opportunity, please stop by Two Spoiled Cats and wish her a Happy Birthday. As I stated above, you can get there by clicking on the poetry badge.

I am also thankful for my friends, Tammy and Mary Jane. Both came to visit me this week, and Tammy brought molasses cookies and lemon bars, two of my very favorite treats!

Dad Tom and I are thankful for everyone who left comments on the post from last Saturday about Astrid gaining her angel wings. I have begun to reply to those comments and will continue to do so. If interested in my replies, you can go to “A Prefect & Beautiful Tortie Angel.”

I begin my outpatient physical therapy today. I am particularly thankful to be getting on with my rehabilitation.

Kitties Blue and I will be participating in the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Angel Brian. To do the same, click on the Thankful badge.

Thanks for being our friends and joining us today.
