Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day

RAINBOW BRIDGE REMEMBRANCE DAY 2023

Kitties Blue Angels + Two

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day was created in 2015 by Deb Barnes from The Chronicles of Zee & Zoey in honor and remembrance of her cat, Mr. Jazz. On this day, bloggers remember their pets that have become angels and flown off to the Rainbow Bridge. I am thankful that no Kitties Blue left us in the past year.

I am, however, remembering the 13 Kitties Blue who watch over us as well as Mau’s wife, Allie, and Lisbeth’s boyfriend, Charles. They were all deeply loved and will never be forgotten. I also remember all those angel kitties, woofies and other pets of our friends and fellow bloggers.

Sparks

In keeping with the theme of today’s post,  I have two Sparks about angels, as I could not decide which I liked best.

A Rainbow background with two quotes about angels, one from NLE Choppa and one from Anton Chekhov

I like to believe that those diamonds are all our angel loved ones, including our pets, looking down and watching over us. That’s why I think these two quotes are the perfect companions.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

It’s time again for our two fun-loving tabbies, Periwinkle & Stinky, to take-off on another adventure. Periwinkle is responsible for planning their adventure this week. So, in order to join in the excitement, you’ll need to stop in at her blog, Friends Furever tomorrow. Adventures are always more fun with lots of friends coming along, which means they’ll be looking for you. Please don’t let them down.

Thanks for joining us today and remembering our angels with us.

HIDING FROM KITTENS SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #419

Grey cat is hiding from kittens amidst stored blankets.

When the kittens are having their daily playtime, Kizmet often joins them. Yesterday they were exceptionally rambunctious, and this was Kizmet’s defense. She tried hiding from them by climbing into the cabinet where we keep extra blankets. She decided it would be a purrfect place to snap her selfie.

A second photo exists that Kizmet and I think you’ll really want to see. I’ll share it on Wednesday, so please drop in again then.

Your Turn to Share

Kizmet and all her housemates are anxious to see your selfies. We all know they’ll be exceptional and make us smile. If you get it done quickly, you’ll have the entire day to enjoy your easy and cuddle with your humans. Of course, if you cannot participate today, you can join us anytime through Thursday.

Thanks to everyone who joins our hop, leaves comments, follows and supports us!

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day

Rainbow Bridge Day

Today is also Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, which was started in 2013 by Deb Barnes (Zee & Zoey’s Chronicles) in memory of her kitty, Mr. Jazz. It is a day to remember and honor all our family and friends with fur, feathers or fins to whom we have said farewell.

Many of our fur kids received their wings long before I began this blog, and today I am remembering them: Our dogs, Smack and Poppy, and cats, Skooter, Steamer, Daphne, Thelma, Louise, Chloe, Twinkle, Madison and MacKenzie. I also will be thinking fondly of those Kitties Blue who have passed since the inception of The Cat on My Head: Fiona, Lily Olivia, Mauricio and Giulietta. I will be remembering Mau’s wife, Allie, and Lisbeth’s boyfriend, Charles, as well.

You can find photos for all but Charles and dogs, Poppy and Smack, on The Felines page, which is on the menu bar at the top of this page.

Dad Tom and I have cherished and loved each and every one of our fur kids and remember them fondly.

Kitties Blue send purrs, and I send hugs and prayers to everyone who is remembering a beloved furred, finned, or feathered family member today.

Thanks for joining us. We appreciate each of you.

RAINBOW BRIDGE REMEMBRANCE DAY 2021

Remembering Angels

Today we have the opportunity to remember our pets that have transitioned to life at the Rainbow Bridge with Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day. There they wait to be reunited with their humans. Too many of our friends received their angel wings this past year, and we have remembered them throughout the year. Though, I won’t be listing them here; each of them is in our hearts and thoughts, and their humans are in our prayers.

Dad Tom and I have two woofies, Smack and Poppy, at the Bridge. We also have 12 kitties currently waiting for us: Skooter, Steamer, Daphne, Thelma, Louise, Chloe, Twinkle, Madison, MacKenzie, Fiona, Lily Olivia and Mauricio. Each was special in his/her own way, and we miss them all.

Caturday Art

My art for Athena Cat Goddess’ Caturday Art blog hop is in remembrance of three special kitties. Just over one year ago, our sweet and gentle (Mau)ricio left us, and then six-weeks later his beautiful and equally sweet wife Allie (Friends Furever) flew away to join him on September 3, 2020. And this year on April 19, Lisbeth’s handsome and loving boyfriend Charles joined Allie and Mau and all the other Cat Scout angels. We miss these special cats dearly and always will, so we honor them today.

History of Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day was started by Deb Barnes from The Chronicles of Zee and Zoey. It came from her desire to find the love, beauty and dignity in saying goodbye to Jazz, her Ragdoll cat, who she let go of on August 28, 2013. Each year we use this day to remember our beloved furry friends that have left us. Deb is hosting a blog hop, which you can find here.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Tomorrow is the last Sunday in August. I don’t know where the year has gone. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner. I am definitely ready for this ghastly hot summer to be behind us, but not ready for 2022. Anyhoo, tomorrow is the day when we all put on our happy faces and take our selfies. We always look forward to seeing just how adorable each of you are. And we know all your fans and friends do as well. So, please join us. We always appreciate your participation and support.

RAINBOW BRIDGE REMEMBRANCE DAY 2020

Remembering Angel Mau(ricio)

It is very rare for us to publish two posts on the same day. Today, however, is a very special day. It is the day we remember our furry friends who have transitioned from their mortal lives to those of angels at the Rainbow Bridge. Every year, we lose so many friends, but this year, we also lost our precious Mau (Mauricio).

In the past, I have shared photos of all our angels, but today there is only Mau (with a few fursibs joining him). Unlike the other Kitties Blue, he almost always loved to have his photo taken and was a total ham. These photos are from just the past five years. I will share photos of a younger Mau at another time.

You will be on Mau overload after this, but I just couldn’t help myself.

Angel Mauricio you are loved and will remain in our hearts forever.

I hope all our Mau fans, especially his sweet and adoring wife, Allie, have enjoyed this. If you have a favorite photo, let Kitties Blue know in the comments.

RAINBOW BRIDGE REMEMBRANCE DAY 2018

Remembering Kitties Blue

It’s been another year filled with the loss of many anipal friends. Unfortunately, we lost one of our own as well. Lily Olivia received her wings on January 2 (shortly before her 19th birthday). To remember all those kitties we have loved and lost, I created this graphic, featuring our most recent angel, Lily Olivia.

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day 2018

Presented in no specific order are our other angels. Left column top to bottom includes: MacKenzie, Madison, Skooter, Fiona and Thelma. The right column top to bottom includes: Louise, Chloe, Twinkle, Steamer and Daphne. If you’d like to learn more about each of our angels, click on The Felines tab in the menu at the top of this page. Under that tab you also can go to our vSquillions page, where you will find all our angels, except first kitty family member, Skooter.

For all our friends who lost beloved anipals this year, you can find them represented on our Remembering Friends page. That tab is above as well. If you visit and find we have forgotten your angel, please let us know in the comments. All our friends deserve to be remembered and honored.

As we remember today all those we have loved and lost, don’t forget to spend time with and shower your current fur babies with love and attention.

May God bless all the animals today, especially those who are ill or in need of forever homes.

RAINBOW BRIDGE REMEMBRANCE DAY 2017

Remembering Friends

Today, we celebrate Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day. Established in 2015 by Deb Barnes (The Chronicles of Zee and Zoey), this special day is for pet guardians to honor the memory of those beloved pets in their life they have lost but never forgotten. It’s held every year on August 28, in honor of the day Deb had to say goodbye to her Ragdoll cat, Mr. Jazz, the meow author of Purr Prints of the Heart – A Cat’s Tale of Life, Death, and Beyond.

In the past, we have remembered our family members who have received their wings and gone to the Rainbow Bridge.

This year, we are honoring our sweet Fiona who lost her battle with CKD on December 1. Instead of remembering all of the Kitties Blue angels, however, we are remembering our angel anipals with a special graphic.

Remembering Friends on Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day.

So many of our anipals are as dear to our hearts as our own, and we miss them terribly. So, we decided to remember and honor them today. Kitties Blue and I know that many more friends have received their wings during this past year, but it was not possible to list all those here. If we have missed anyone who was especially dear to you, please accept our apologies.

These are the angels in our graphic, beginning in the upper left corner and continuing clockwise.

This is a blog hop. If you have written a remembrance post today, visit Zee and Zoey (link in first paragraph) to add the link to your post.

We send our condolences to all who lost a beloved family member in the past year as well as purrs, prayers and POTP as your hearts continue to heal.

Love, purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Mom Janet

REMEMBERING OUR ANGELS SELFIES

Sunday Selfies: Week #107

Remembrance Day 8.28.2016 Angels

First, I must apologize: I promised a guest host for today, but I had forgotten that the 28th is reserved for Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day. So, our guest will be here next week. This week we are featuring the nine Kitties Blue and one honorary Kitty Blue who have their angel wings. Each are featured on our The Felines page as well where you can read their short bios.

Here are the nine who came before.

Our nine angels.

Each had his or her own unique personality, and they all hold a special place in my heart. I will love them always. I have a little memorial for our angels in one of our backyard gardens, which I will share on another day.

And here is our honorary Kitty Blue, Nylablue, who is also a beautiful angel. We were so honored to have her as part of our family. Losing her was like losing one of my own kitties. She too is featured on The Felines page.

Angel Nylablue

We have lost many furry friends during the four years we have been blogging. You can see many of them on our Remembering Friends page. We think of them fondly everyday but especially today.

Cat4-001Though a bit unconventional, this is our Sunday Selfies Blog Hop. Please feel free to include one of your angels in the hop this week if you like. This, of course, is not a requirement but rather an opportunity to share. As always the link to add your selfie and the code to include the hop on your blog are below. And also, as always, if you decide to do the latter, please include our badge or link back to The Cat on My Head. If you have any trouble linking up, leave us a comment. I am always happy to add your selfie.

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day was created by Deb Barnes (Zee and Zoey’s Cat Chronicles) in memory and honor of her kitty, Jazz. We are honored to display her badge at the beginning of our post. She too is having a blog hop today. Click on the link above to add your angel(s) to her hop.

Have a blessed Sunday as you remember those you have lost but will hold forever in your heart.

We’d also like to remember and honor the two woofies who came before any of us, Smack and Poppy.

Please consider taking part in this first annual event. The hope is it will be the first of many to come. You are encouraged to post on your blog, your Facebook page, or any other social media of your choice in memory of your angel anipals.

This event is hosted by Purr Prints of the Heart. Although this was a day originally created in honor of  Zee and Zoey’s Mr. Jazz, it will now honor all those who have crossed their Rainbow Bridge.

Today, we are sending purrs and prayers to all the families and friends with angels who have crossed that Bridge.
