LARGEST & SMALLEST KITTIES BLUE

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for the Kitties Blue; though, they often can get up to a lot of mischief. Here are the largest and smallest enjoying the beds Dad Tom got for them. Amazingly they are in the appropriate sizes for their proportions.

Two cats, one large and one small, in appropriate-sized cat beds.

Kitties Blue and I are thankful for those who visit and comment on our posts. We are especially thankful to those of you who participate in our Sunday Selfies blog hop.

Cooper Murphy and Tali will be heading over to Brians Home for the Thankful Thursday blog hop. To join them there, click on the Thankful badge.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

On Thursdays, I also try to write some poetry based on an inspiration photo provided by our friends from Two Spoiled Cats, Teddy and Angel Sammy.

Here’s the photo for this week.

Two meerkats. One looks as if it is trying to strangle the other, which is shrieking with its mouth open.

I only managed a haiku to accompany today’s adorable photo, but then it was all I needed to convey what came to me when I saw the photo.

I asked for a hug
Not this surprise stranglehold
I have peed myself

KITTEN & GARDEN THANKFULS

Thankful Thursday

I am beginning today’s post with thankfuls, which include kittens and the garden. Then I’ll be participating in Angel Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop.

Here’s a photo of Oscar and Oliver their mom sent me on Tuesday.

Thankful for two seven-month old kittens, from the same litter, one ginger and white and one ginger with just white paws napping & hugging.

I am happy and grateful these two boys have each other and will be spending their lives together. They have gotten so big. It amazes me, as they were the two smallest kittens in the litter. If you have forgotten how tiny and adorable they were, check out these two posts, “Showing Off Selfie” and “A Farewell Selfie.”

I am thankful for a few of my friends sharing iris rhizomes with me. I now have irises spread throughout my flower beds. Most are different varieties in purple, but I now have some yellow ones as well, which I had really been wanting. (I have not included a photo of those, as a recent windy day was not too kind to them.) I previously shared a photo of some in “Thankful for Spring.” Here are a couple photos I took yesterday.

Collage with two photo of purple irises in a garden for which I am thankful.

We had some super hot weather for several days. The last couple have been more seasonable, which gave me the opportunity to spend a couple hours working in the garden yesterday. It is my happy place, and I am always thankful when I can spend time there.

Kitties Blue and I are thankful for each of you who visit, comment and participate in our Sunday Selfies blog hop.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

On Thursday, I also enjoy joining the poetry challenge hosted by Angel Sammy and Teddy from Two Spoiled Cats. They provide an inspirational photo, and participants write a poem referencing the photo.

Here’s this week’a photo. It is followed by the haiku I wrote to accompany it.

I’m so embarrased
I forgot my mom’s birthday
Hope she’ll forgive me

LONG LIST OF THANKFULS & A HAIKU

Thankful Thursday

Another week has sped by, so it is time again to share thankfuls and join Angel Brian’s blog hop.

Since falling on the newest new knee, my Peloton riding has been severely curtailed. My usual minimum of 150 miles per month has been impossible. Some months I haven’t even made 50 miles. I reached 100 miles for March on Tuesday. Though, I won’t make 150 this month; I still have the opportunity to add a few more miles before the end of the month. So, I will get closer than I have been since surgery in September. I am truly grateful for this.

Kitties Blue are thankful for their new house on the catio. Dad Tom was afraid Cooper Murphy wouldn’t be able to fit through the openings, but he didn’t have any trouble. Here’s Tali checking it out.

A white and calico kitten is thankful for a new outdoor abode. and is seen exiting it

I am thankful I have had opportunities to work in the yard recently. Today is supposed to be in the mid-70s, so I am looking forward to getting out again today.

We are particularly thankful that Lisbeth’s face is completely healed. She just needs to grow her fur back.

As always, Kities Blue and I are thankful for those of you who visit, comment and participate in our Sunday Selfies blog hop. Thankfully,  Linky Tools worked properly this week.

We will be participating in the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Angel Brian. If you would like to do the same, please click on the Thankful badge.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thursday is also when we share some poetry based on an inspiration photo provided by Angel Sammy and Teddy from Two Spoiled Cats.

Here’s this week’s photo.

Young boy holding is finger to his lips and going, "shhh."

I only managed a haiku this week. It represents this boy talking to his younger sister.

Shhh!

Lily, don’t tell Dad
It is a birthday surprise
I made him a cake!

© Janet Buickerood Blue – 03/25/2026

I can only imagine what that cake might be like. I really hope this young lad had some help from his mom.

THANKFULS & HAIKU

Thankful Thursday

When Tuesday rolls around, Kitties Blue and I like to reflect on things for which we are thankful and then join Angel Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop.

We are having some warmer weather, and I have had the opportunity to spend a few hours outside on two different days cleaning up flower beds. It’s not much but a start.

On Monday Lisbeth and I were able to get a work-in appointment with our vet, Dr. McBane. The wound on Lisbeth’s face, which I mentioned in a previous post, had fresh scratches next to it. We don’t know if Lisbeth did those to herself or one of the other cats did it. She got it cleaned up, received an antibiotic injection and is on prednisolone. She was a totally good girl!

A black and white cat in a sleepy pod pet carrier.

On Sunday, Dad Tom and I got to attend a play at our community theater and get ice cream afterwards.

Periwinkle and Stinky want to thank those who visited and enjoyed their adventure with them on Tuesday.

Kitties Blue and I appreciate each of you who visit the blog, comment and especially participate in the Sunday Selfies blog hop.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thursday also is the day when I try to share some poetry and participate in Angel Sammy and Teddy’s (Two Spoiled Cats) poetry challenge. Today I only managed a haiku.

Here’s the inspiration photo they provided for this week followed by my short verse.

I wanted some bangs
Thought I could do it myself
Hand and scissors slipped

THANKFULS & A HAIKU

Thankful Thursday

On Thursday we like to share things from the past week for which we are thankful. Then we participate in the Thankful Thursday blog hop at Brian’s Home. To do the same, please click on the Thankful badge.

Dad Tom and I are thankful to have been blessed with eight years of loving and caring for our precious Sawyer.

We also are thankful for all the thoughtful and heartfelt comments left on Periwinkle and Stinky’s post about Sawyer getting his angel wings. If you missed the post, you can read it here. (I am continuing to reply to the comments.)

We are particularly thankful for the beautiful post and song for Sawyer that his girl friend Noelle made. You can see that at Friends Furever.

We also are grateful for the beautiful memorial badge Ingrid from Meezer’s Mews and Terrieristical Woofs made for Sawyer.

MEMORIAL BADGE FOR A GREY TABBY CAT, ANGEL SAWYER, WITH THE WORDS, "TREASURED FOREVER."

And Angel Brian’s dad, Terry, kindly posted it on the Cat Blogosphere. Our thanks go to him as well.

Cooper Murphy is thankful for all the well wishes on his Gotcha Day post yesterday, which you can read by clicking the link at the conclusion of this post.

I received this photo of Tali and Gibb’s ginger brofurs, Oliver and Oscar, watching bird TV with their big brother Winston. I am thankful and delighted to know they are doing well in their forever home.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

I also attempt to participate in the poetry challenge hosted each week by Teddy and Angel Sammy from Two Spoiled Cats. I have missed the last few weeks unfortunately. And today I only managed a haiku, but it was all I needed to say what I wanted.

Here’s this week’s inspiration photo followed by the haiku.

A field of miniature snow people.

Wow, it is freezing
Can’t we protest in summer?
No stupid, we’d melt

THANKFULS & A HAIKU

Thankful Thursday

Each Thursday Kitties Blue and I try to share the things from the past week for which we are thankful. Then we participate in the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Angel Brian.

I am so grateful for the beautiful fleece blanket with Astrid’s image that Noelle/Periwinkle and Reesie’s mom, Sharon (Friends Furever), sent me as a remembrance of my sweet angel.

My rehabilitation of my left knee is progressing for which I am truly thankful. I have been able to get back on Peloton for a few ten-minute sessions. At this point, I am only able to pedal backwards, but it is a start. I am now in outpatient therapy, which is very difficult, but I am pushing forward.

Kitties Blue and I are thankful for all of you who follow, comment, join our blog hop and support us. I know my posting has been a bit hit and miss the last few weeks, but I will try to get back to doing so on a more regular basis.

Periwinkle and Stinky want to thank those of you who joined them on Tuesday. If you missed this week’s adventure, they baked homemade cat treats and shared the recipe. To check out that post if you missed it, click here.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Today is also the day I share poetry based on an inspiration photo provided by Angel Sammy and Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats). Here is today’s photo. Below is the haiku I wrote for this week.

Look at handsome me
I think I’ll snap a selfie
For Sunday’s blog hop

© Janet Buickerood Blue – 10/01/2025

Though this is a Japanese Snow Monkey (not a chimpanzee), I would like to dedicate this to Dame Jane Goodall, English zoologist, primatologist and anthropologist, who passed away yesterday at age 91.

Plus, it is a bit of self promotion for our Sunday Selfies blog hop.

Thursday is poetry day at Two Spoiled Cats, and I try to play along whenever I can. Teddy and Angel Sammy provide an inspiration photo as a jumping off place, Here’s this week’s photo followed by my poem, which this week is only a haiku. I did not need any additional words to convey what I wanted to say.

I’m feeling rather peckish.
Do you have some snacks?

“MUNCH”KINS, THANKFULS & A HAIKU

Thankful Thursday

It is Thursday again, which means it is time to share some thankfuls from this past week. The kitties and I will then join the Thankful Thursday blog hop at Brian’s Home – Forever.

In spite of receiving in excess of four inches of rain in the last few days, I managed to get outside, salvage most of my uprooted coleus and replant them. I then liberally covered the dirt with cayenne pepper. Every chance exists continued rain will dilute it and make it ineffective. I will, however, add more as necessary. I have placed the broken pieces in water in the hope they will root and can be replanted.

The following photos show what I believe to be the “munch”kins that have been uprooting and ravaging my plants.

Collage with three photos of two baby groundhogs ("munch-kins").

I discovered these two baby groundhogs chowing down in our side yard on vines, wild strawberries and violets and other ground cover. They are welcome to eat as much from this area as they want. I just pray they remain there.

I am thankful for the rain, as we needed it badly. We have more in the forecast for today.

Dad Tom and I are thankful we were able to travel the four-hour round trip to Charlottesville on Mother’s Day to have dinner with one of his nephew’s and our great niece. She just completed her sophomore year at the University of Virginia. She and her dad currently are driving back to California.

Dad Tom and I are also thankful that he has been discharged from his out-patient physical therapy, which followed his knee replacement surgery the first week in March.

Periwinkle and Stinky thank everyone who joined them on their adventure hunting lizards on Tuesday.

Kitties Blue and I appreciate and thank everyone who has visited the blog, joined the Sundays Selfie Blog Hop and left comments for us.

If you would like to join us on the blog hop, click on the Thankful Thursday badge.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Also on Thursday, Kitties Blue and I try to write a poem for Thoroughly Poetic Thursday hosted by Two Spoiled Cats. Teddy and Angel Sammy provide as inspiration photo for participants to write about. Here’s this week’s very funny photo.

Two seals, one with a surprised look on its face.

I do not write haikus very often, but this is what came to mind when I saw this photo, and I didn’t feel the need for more.

Why do you look shocked?
Don’t you like my new tattoo?
It’s a heart for you!

CAT, FRIEND & SQUIRREL THANKFULS & A HAIKU

Thankful Thursday

Once each week we like to share the things for which we are thankful and then join the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Angel Brian.

Dad Tom and I were thankful when he rescued two baby squirrels, whose eyes had not yet opened, from our yard with no mom around anywhere. Tom found a dead squirrel in the street the day before, and we suspect that was their mom. We have a wonderful wildlife center here, and Tom was able to take them there to be cared for. We have an I.D. number so we can check on them.

They could not have been cuter, as you can see. The one in the photo was quite a squealer.

Baby squirrel.

Dad Tom and I are thankful we were home yesterday when Sawyer had a seizure. He’s been having one about every one-and-a-half to two weeks, and we do not always know until after the fact. I am particularly thankful I was able to give him a good Furminating while he was recovering. It’s the only time I can brush out his thick undercoat.

Grey tabby Manx cat.

I spent a great evening having dinner out with one of my long-time friends last night.

From this week’s Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats, I earned two badges.  I was one of three first commenters and a right guesser but not first.

Thursday is the day when we participate in Angel Sammy and Teddy’s (Two Spoiled Cats) poetry challenge. They provide an inspiration photo, and participants write a poem based on the photo.

Here is today’s photo.

Man and teenage girl. He is holding and smelling wildfires and she is carrying camping equipment and backpacks.

I only have a haiku for you today.

What was I thinking?
I am not my dad’s sherpa.
This trip is a drag!

THANKFULS, POETRY & A PRAYER REQUEST

Thankful Thursday

We always are happy on Thursdays to share with you the things for which we are thankful.

A grey tabby cat and a pale ginger cat on a catio.

Sawyer & Raleigh enjoying catio time.

I am delighted to report and truly thankful that Sawyer has not had a seizure (that Dad Tom and I know of) in four-and-a-half weeks. He is delighted to continue to enjoy kitten stinky goodness with his meds.

ginger cat wearing Cat Scout uniform

Cooper Murphy is happy he was able to follow in his big brother, Mau’s, paw steps and become a Cat Scout and eventually share leadership with Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats) of The Wildcats Troop. With the lowering of the Cat Scouts flag for the final time this past weekend, Cat Scouts came to an end. I am not certain what Cooper Murphy will do with all his free time. Regardless, I am thankful he, Mau and I had the opportunity to be a part of this organization. We thank Karen Nichols, Denmaster, for creating this group and dedicating nearly ten years to it.

Kitties Blue and I are so thankful for each of you who follow and support us. We truly appreciate your friendship.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To participate, click on his badge.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

As much as I tried to add one of the Kitties Blue to this week’s poetry inspiration photo provided by Angel Sammy and Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats), it just wasn’t to be.

Here’s the photo followed by the Haiku I wrote to accompany it.

Baby wearing an aqua and lime green swim cap in a swimming pool and being held by a woman

Swimming is so fun
The water tickles my toes
Mom, please don’t let go

If you’d like to try your hand at writing some poetry, check out Two Spoiled Cats, by clicking on the poetry badge. You’ll find next week’s inspiration photo, as well as the poem Angel Sammy sent to Teddy from the Rainbow Bridge. I hope you’ll read it. Sammy is a terrific poet.

Purrs & Prayers Please

One of our dearest friends, Raz (Friends Furever), who just happens to be the brother of Sawyer’s girlfriend, Noelle, and Angel Mau’s wife, Angel Allie, is not well. He’s been ill for several months and on medication, but he’s lost a lot of weight and is not doing well. If you can, please send him some prayers. And kitties, if you can add some purrs and POTP that would be wonderful.

Thank you.
