ANGEL FIONA’S VSQUILLION SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #161

Our selfie this week is a bit unusual. Actually, it is not a selfie. In fact, it is not even a photograph.

Gracie, Keeper of the Offishul CB VSquillions Shelter opened the shelter for adoptions in honor of Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day. It’s been “closed” for a very long time, and we’d been waiting to make an adoption since last December. Bet you know now where this is headed.

Meet vSquillion Angel Fiona. Mom added the frame for today’s post.

Angel Fiona's vSquillion Selfie

When Mom picked up angel vSquillion Fiona to bring her home, she cried. We all miss our sweet sisfur so much.

We now have an angel vSquillion for all Kitties Blue who are no longer with us, except Mom and Dad’s very first kitty, Skooter. (We’re not sure why he is missing.) If you’d like to meet our other angels, click on The Felines tab in our menu and then the vSquillions tab below it.

If you are new to blogging and unfamiliar with vSquillions, click on the link to the shelter, which is up above.

We are looking forward to seeing your selfies this week. As always we invite you to ask all your animal friends to join in the fun. Here are some tips for joining.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • You do not need to post on Sundays to join.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.

Prayers

We contine to pray for all those already impacted by Hurricane Irma as well as those now in its path. We also send prayers, purrs and POTP to Allie and Raz’s (Friends Furever) dad, Bill. Please take a moment to join us.

I THINK I FINALLY HAVE THE HANG OF THIS

Sunday Selfies: Week #160

I think you are really going to like today’s selfie. It is my best one ever. I think I am finally learning.

Lisbeth hosts Sunday Selfies.

I tried to convince Mom that she didn’t need to fancy this up. But she just can’t help herself. I think I would have looked fine with just a simple non-distracting border. What do you think? Do you think Charles will like it?

I guess I could have smiled, however. I will try for that next time. Mom says I have “bedroom” eyes. I don’t know what that means. If I am in the bedroom, my eyes are closed, as I am napping.

Now it’s your turn to show us your selfies. Come one, come all. This blog hop has the cutest anipals on the Internet, and you know you want to be part of it. Here are a few pointers for entering.

By now most of you know how this blog hop works, but if not, here are some guidelines:

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • You do not need to post on Sundays to join.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.

Prayers Please

As we have a short post today, Mom and Mau asked me to remind everyone that Friends Furever Allie (Mau’s wife) and Raz’s daddy, Bill, continues to need your purrs, prayers and POTP. He remains in the hospital on a ventilator. If we all get together with constant prayers and the loudest purrs we can muster, maybe we can get him home again where he belongs.

Purrs and paw-pats, Lisbeth

STINKY SUNDAY SELFIE #2

Sunday Selfies: Week #159

We have a guest host today for our blog hop. This guy/girl showed up to scavenger the sunflower seeds under the bird feeder. We were threatened with a big stink if we didn’t post this selfie.

Stinky Sunday Selfie

We told Mom that this selfie did not require a pretty frame, as it would be stinky no matter how she tried to fancy it up. She unfortunately insisted. PFFFT!

One plus for us, however…no kitty was disturbed or awakened from a nap with the demand for a selfie.

That’s it for today. Mom’s working on an elaborate post for tomorrow’s Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day and said we had to keep this short.

We look forward to seeing all you loyal selfie supporters hopping. And please, invite your friends to join us. We always enjoy meeting new anipals.

Purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy

SUNDAY SELFIES THIRD ANNIVERSARY

Sunday Selfies: Week #158

Welcome to the Third Anniversary of our Sunday Selfies blog hop. Kitties Blue and I honestly are flabbergasted that this hop is still going strong. We do have times when our entries wax and wane, but usually we stay around 50 entrants. For all of you who have been with us from the beginning (and there are several), we send a huge THANK YOU, as well as kitty kisses and hugs. If we didn’t have two giveaways already in progress, we’d have one, and we just might anyway. We’ll surprise you next Sunday and let you know!

While trying to determine which of the Kitties Blue should have the opportunity to be the face of our third anniversary post, I had a light bulb moment. I’m a bit surprised as my brain has been stuck somewhere between gears today. I decided to share some statistics about our first Sunday Selfies post and our previous two anniversary posts along with a photo from each.

Starting from the beginning: Post #1 on August 17, 2014. We had seven entrants and Lisbeth was your host with three selfie photos. This was one of them. She was in the midst of having a catnip snack.

First Sunday Selfies post featured Lisbeth.

We celebrated Astrid and Lisbeth’s birthday as part of our first anniversary post on August 16, 2015. We had 61 entrants. Can we beat that today? A photo of the girls as babies was shared as well as a selfie of each girl. As Lisbeth got the first entry on today’s post, Astrid gets this one.

First Anniversary of Sunday Selfies featured Astrid & Lisbeth's birthday.

For anniversary #2, we posted at week #104 which fell on August 7, 2016. We had 59 entrants and both Calista Jo and Fiona were your hosts.

Sunday Selfies 2nd anniversary with C.J. and Fiona.

If anyone is interested in revisiting those posts, just click on the appropriate photo. We will charge ahead toward anniversary four as long as most of you are still enjoying the hop and willing to come along for the ride. You can let us know in the comments.

Remembering a Precious Angel

If you joined us yesterday for Caturday Art, then you know that today we are remembering and honoring another dear friend from Critters in the Cottage. Just a little over two weeks ago, the Critters said good-bye to sweet Mitalee Honeybee. We honored her on the Sunday Selfies post, C.J.’s Sad Selfies in Remembrance of Mitalee.

Today we remember the Critters’ four-pound, tiny dancer, Esme. Esme received her wings on Wednesday at only 11 years old. My dear friend, Mum Sophie (aka LP) is not certain she wants to continue blogging; though, we hope she will after a break to grieve for her angels. She has promised to post today. That way you can stop by and leave your condolences there. The entire family is devastated by yet another loss so quickly after Mitalee, as you might imagine. All our prayers and purrs go out to the entire family.

Giveaways

We currently are running two giveaways. You still have time to enter either or both. They close tomorrow (Monday, August 21) at 5 p.m. ET. Winners will be selected using Random.org and announced on Tuesday. The first is for some swag from the BlogPaws Conference as well as The Cat on My Head exclusive items. To enter, leave a comment on the girls’ birthday post, Astrid & Lisbeth Are Birthday Girls.

Our second giveaway is for the must have art book, The Book of The Cat: Cats in Art, by Angus Hyland and Caroline Roberts. For an opportunity to win a copy of The Book of the Cat, please leave a comment on our review post by clicking here. This giveaway is open to all readers worldwide.

Today’s Blog Hop

By now most of you know how this works, but if not, here are some guidelines:

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • You do not need to post on Sundays to join.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.

That’s it for us today. We look forward to seeing all our loyal supporters hopping. And remember, invite your friends. Newbies are always welcome.

C.J.’s SAD SELFIES IN REMEMBRANCE OF MITALEE

Sunday Selfies: Week #156

I asked to do the Sunday Selfie today to be here as we honor our friend, angel Mitalee. Unfortunately, I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I took about eight selfies, and these two were the best I could do. Sorry I look so grumpy! I am not really cranky but just very sad that our sweet friend now has her wings.

C.J.'s sad selfies.

In Memory of Mitalee HoneyBee

This sweet, little cat (the Queen of her family) left for the Bridge on July 28. It hurt all our hearts so much; though, we knew her health was failing. By now most of you have probably left your condolences for her family, but if not, all Kitties Blue and our mom hope you will at Critters in the Cottage.

Mitalee, we pray you are running free with all your friends, including our angel, Fiona. We miss you and love you. You will remain in our hearts always.

Hop Along With Us

It’s time to add your selfie to today’s Sunday Selfies blog hop. I am certain all of you will do a better job with your photo than I did with mine. We love making new friends, and so all anipals are welcome regardless of species. The link to add your selfie to the hop is below. If you cannot join us today, that’s okay. The hop remains open through Thursday. And if you need our mom to add your selfie for you, just let us know in the comments. Also, if you’d like to have the hop show up on your selfies post, the code is below. Finally, would you be so kind as to post our badge or link back to The Cat on My Head.

If you missed our post yesterday, you may not know that Mauricio and Cooper Murphy have headed to Yosemite for a week at Cat Scouts Summer Camp. This means Mom will not be able to take us visiting this week as much as we would like. She’ll be helping the boys with their scouting activities. Please do not abandon us during this time. It is only a week after all. Many thanks.

Purrs and paw-pats, Calista Jo

p.s. Please continue to send your prayers, purrs and POTP to Allie and Raz‘s daddy, Bill, who remains hospitalized and on a ventilator.

CROTCHETY COUGAR LILY’S SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #155

A few weeks ago, Lily Olivia joined a group of senior lady cats, the Crotchety Cougars. They have a signature red hat to wear. It was made by member Phoebe’s mom, Ellen (15AndMeowing). When I attempted to get Lily to wear it and take some photos, she was totally uncooperative. If you missed the post, “Lily Olivia is a Crotchety Cougar,” you can see it here.

Today, when Lily Olivia seemed in a bit of a mellow mood, I plopped her hat on her head and asked her to take a selfie. She used the phone and snapped off three photos. I was stunned by how agreeable she was, after all she is a Crotchety Cougar.

Lily Olivia models her Crotchety Cougars red hat for Sunday Selfies.

Lily Olivia's grumpy expression is appropriate for a Crotchety Cougar.

As you can see, she is wearing her usual grumpy expression along with her red hat. I wouldn’t expect anything less.

If you are a senior lady cat, of at least 15 years of age, and would enjoy belonging to the Crotchety Cougars, contact Kali of The Canadian Cats.

Now that Lily has shown you her selfie, it is time for you to add yours to this week’s blog hop. All anipals are welcome (domestic or wild) regardless of species. And you can join the hop anytime through Thursday. We know some of you don’t post on Sundays. The link to add your photo is below.

If you’d like to include the hop on your blog, the code to do so also is below. If you decide to do this, we have one request: Please link back to The Cat on My Head and/or display our badge. This is so that anyone joining the hop from your post will know where it originated. Thanks in advance to this kindness.

Comment-a-thon

I had planned to announce the winner of our comment-a-thon here today. Unfortunately I have not heard back from that person and so will not post the information today. I want to know to which shelter/rescue we will be sending our $80 donation prior to the announcement. As soon as I know, I will share here.

Enjoy an Easy Sunday!

IS THIS HOW I TAKE A SELFIE?

Sunday Selfies: Week #153

Sunday Selfie

Do you recognize me? I don’t make an appearance very often. I normally don’t call too much attention to myself; though, I have been asking for a bit more attention lately. To find out more about that, please come back on Wordless Wednesday when I will be here again.

Mom was pretty excited a few days ago when she saw Astrid and me touching noses. I didn’t hiss. Astrid didn’t scream. No paws were lifted, and we both walked away with all our furs intact. Mom says that all this hot weather has made us lethargic and uninterested in putting out the effort it takes to have a disagreement. We’ve even been caught sharing the cat tree. Photographic evidence may exist on Dad’s camera. If it does, Astrid or I will share in a future post.

If you are unfamiliar with Astrid’s and my story, you can read this paragraph. I shared my kitty mom with Astrid and her brother who were abandoned as babies. We lived together in a foster home and Mom and Dad adopted us together. Astrid and I were the best of friends and loved each other dearly. Then poof…one day we decided we hated each other. No event prompted this as far as our humans know, and we aren’t talking. Anyhoo, I’m not saying we will be friends again, but we did have a momentary truce.

Sunday selfie badgeNow that I have shared my selfie, it is time to share one of your own. All critters and anipals are encouraged and welcome to join. You don’t have to be a pet or domesticated animal. We totally enjoy meeting and greeting new and unusual entrants. The link to add your selfie to the hop is below. You also can find the code there to add the hop to your blog post. If you do this, would you be so kind as to add our badge to your post and/or link back to The Cat on My Head.

Blog the Change for Animals

Yesterday was the day to participate in this event, which encourages bloggers to spread the word about and to inspire others to help animals in need. When Mom remembers, we try to take part. Obviously, she didn’t remember. But Lola and Lexy’s mom, Dawn, from Lola the Rescued Cat, didn’t forget. She wrote a terrific post about PAWS of Connecticut. We definitely think it is worth reading if you haven’t done so. Here’s the link too the post, Pet Animal Welfare Society. Photos of our previous sponsored-cat, Swizzle, and our current sponsored-cat, Charlotte, are included in the post.

Have an easy Sunday everybody. I sure hope it isn’t too hot where you live.

Purrs and paw-pats, Lisbeth (with kisses for my boyfriend Charles)

SUNDAY SELFIES IN MEMORY OF ELLIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #152

We are dedicating our Sunday Selfies blog hop today to another of our dearest friends who received her angel wings a few days ago. Ellie (My wife Allie’s sisfur) is being honored today, so I am featuring her before I post my own selfie. I had Mom make a special photo of her to share with you. I want her to take centerstage today.

Sunday Selfies in memory of Ellie.

Ellie was only 15 years old, but she did have health issues that had worsened the last couple of weeks. She passed in Mom Sharon’s arms being stroked and told how much she was loved. That was the purrfect way to leave on her new adventure at the Rainbow Bridge with some of her fursibs and bunches of furiends. I know we’ve asked before, but if you haven’t had the opportunity to share a few kind words with Mom Sharon, Dad Bill, Allie and Raz, please drop by Friends Furever. While there can you please add some prayers, purrs and POTP for Dad Bill. Not only is he undergoing cancer treatment, but he also just landed in the hospital with a collapsed lung.

So I guess it is time for me to share my selfie. As usual I was prattling on about something when I snapped this, so my mouth is open. If I am awake, I am usually talking about something. Sorry I’m a bit blurry.

Sunday Selfies with Mau

In Other News

At dinnertime last night, Mom called Lily Olivia, Misty May and me in from the front porch where we were hanging out and relaxing. She suddenly noticed that mean, neighborhood cat was lounging in our driveway. Some of you may remember that  I have tangled with this meanie twice before resulting in me being bitten (Mauricio’s Boo-Boos and Bite on Butt Requires Vet Visit) both times. Mom and Meanie stared at each other for several seconds, and then Meanie went back across the street where he belongs. He took his time, however, continuing to stop, turn back and try to stare Mom down. We were already in the house. I am so grateful that guy wasn’t brave enough to come up on the porch, as I have no intention of putting up with his shenanigans.

Time to Hop

Bet you thought I’d forgotten this is a blog hop. No such luck. It is time for you to snap a selfie and show it off here. The link is below. You’ll also find the code below to add the hop to your blog if you’d like. If you do so, would you please be so kind as to post our badge and/or link back to The Cat on My Head.

Thank you to everyone who hops with us, whether it is regularly or just occasionally. And if you are new to the hop, welcome. Hope you join in often.

Until we meet again…ciao and meow, Mau

STINKY SUNDAY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #151

As we mentioned yesterday, we have a guest host for today’s blog hop. Though we live in the city, our neighborhood has lots of wildlife. Some are welcome and others are not. Our guest today is one of those unwelcome ones. These critters usually only come out at night. We normally don’t see them, but we sure do smell them.

Have you guessed yet who our host is?

Stinky the skunk hosts Sunday Selfies.

You can just call him, Stinky. He was one of three skunks our humans discovered hoovering up sunflower seeds from under the bird feeder a couple evenings ago. They all scattered in different directions when Mom knocked on the kitchen window. Stinky the Brave returned, and Dad Tom was able to get his photo. We know this isn’t a “selfie,” but Dad wasn’t getting close enough to let this guy snap his own photo.

According to our mom, the group appeared to be a mother skunk and two skunk kids. This is one of the kids. They are striped skunks, and each had a different white pattern on its back.

The gang was back yesterday evening, and it had doubled in size. That’s right—six skunks, and some were smaller than those in the first group. Dad Tom turned the hose on them, but once again one brave stinker returned. Watch for photos later in the week.

Now that you’ve seen our host, it is time for you to add your selfie to the hop. The link is below as is the code to add the hop to your blog if you’d like. Would you please add our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head on your blog. You wouldn’t want our mom to send this stinker to your house, would you? Just kidding, of course!

If you don’t post on Sundays, you are still welcome to join the hop. It remains open through Thursday. And please feel free to invite your anipal friends to join us.

We know many of your humans will be traveling this weekend as well as having parties and barbecues (purrhaps with fireworks) to celebrate Independence Day. Friends, please stay safe and in the house during any of these festivities. Find a quiet place to relax and chill or ask your humans to turn on a radio or TV to drown out the loud boomers.

We’ll be back on Tuesday to wish everyone a happy 4th.
