TOPSY TURVY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #386

topsy turvy selfie

Our monkey cat, Kizmet, is being silly again in her topsy turvy selfie. She has nothing else to offer, as she wants to remember our friend and new angel, Gracie.

Remembering Gracie

We first met Gracie when Mau joined Cat Scouts. They ended up in the same Patrol (Wolverines) where Gracie served as leader. Cooper Murphy and Sawyer got to know her when they joined the Tabby Cat Club, which Gracie established. She also had her own blog, Goodness Gracie. You can drop in there to leave your condolences for Gracie’s human parents, Steph and Bruce.

These beautiful memorial graphics were created by Pam (Two Spoiled Cats) and Ann (Zoolatry).

Gracie was also the creator and Shelter Keeper of the VSquillions. And most importantly for us, she was Allie’s Maid of Honor when Allie married Mau.

Gracie had a big purrsonality and presence on the internet. We will miss her very much, but she’ll remain in our hearts always.

Hopping Time

Kizmet invites all anipals to join our hop. All the Kitties Blue love seeing their friends each Sunday, and equally enjoy welcoming newcomers. If you are too busy to pop in today or don’t normally post on Sundays, you can join the hop anytime through Thursday.

Kizmet, herself, will not be joining the hop until sometime later in the morning, as I am just too tired to stay up until midnight. But, please, don’t wait for her. Jump right in when you arrive.

Kitties Blue thank each of you for your friendship and support.

SUMMER POEM & THANKFULS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

It is Thursday, which means it is time to write a poem for the Two Spoiled Cats, Teddy And Angel Sammy’s, poetry challenge. They provide an inspiration photo, and participants use it as the subject or jumping off place for a poem.

Here is this week’s photo and my poem.

Lazy Summer Day

I love to float in my little swan boat
On a warm and sunny day,
Even with hat and sunglasses
To keep the burning sun away
From my fair and tender baby skin.
When I see my reflection in the bay,
It makes me grin, giggle and clap
Until it’s time to go home for a nap!

In addition to providing the inspiration photo, Angel Sammy writes a poem each week and transmits it to Teddy from the Rainbow Bridge. He is a masterful poet, so please drop my Two Spoiled Cats, by clicking on the badge above, to read his poem

Thankful Thursday

We are all thankful for our Angel Mauricio vSqullion, which we just adopted. He joins the rest of our vSquillion family. You can see them by clicking on “The Felines”  tab in the menu at the top of this page.

We are all thankful for a lovely fall with temperate temperatures. Usually we get a heat wave at some point, but so far we haven’t had one and none is in the current forecast. Though we have had lots of rainy days, Kitties and humans have been able to enjoy lots of catio time.

I am super thankful that I have surgery scheduled for next Wednesday to get the bent pin out of my left great toe and replaced with a new one. I have been in pain since February when I tripped, broke the toe and bent the pin.

Of course, I am thankful that Dad Tom and I remain virus free. I will be even more thankful when we all no longer need to worry about contracting the nasty COVID-19.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To participate, post on your blog for what you are thankful then click on his badge to go to Brian’s Home and link up.

MINI RANT ON TUXIE TUESDAY

Tuxie Tuesday Doozy of a Snoozy

Since Sawyer came to live with us and Lily Olivia got her wings, the dynamic around our house is totally different. We are all a bit confused as to our roles. Misty May is trying to assert herself and take over Lily Olivia’s position as Commander of Everything and Everyone. Unlike Lily, however, she is needy, as opposed to demanding. The humans consider needy to be an annoying trait, and the remainder of us must agree. This isn’t to say that most of us don’t love Misty May. We just don’t think she is leadership material. After all, she is a bully. We understand many powerful people are bullies, but that will not be tolerated in our coterie of cats.

Misty May has been doing her best to curry favor with some of us to gain our support, especially the other tuxie female in the house, Lisbeth.

Tuxie Tuesday

As you can see, she has taken Lisbeth under her wing paw, even when they are sleeping. We suggest that Lisbeth not get too cozy. We know this camaraderie will not last if Misty May takes over as Top Cat.

Misty May and Mau are the oldest of this rag-tag bunch, so one of them probably is next in line for the job. We suspect mild-mannered Mau will garner most of the votes. He is a good candidate, as he has learned many important rules with regard to leadership as an Order of the Arrowhead, Sabertooth Cat Scout.

Misty May is not suited to ascend to the throne (Mom’s lap) as she refuses to sit quietly in contemplation—a most important trait for all of those in power. Mau can get awfully wordy at times, but he does recognize the importance of a regal bearing while on the throne. MOUSES! Did we really say that?

The new hierarchy definitely has not been decided, and we suspect we can look forward—NOT—to a long campaign season. In the meantime most of us are keeping a low profile, except for Sawyer. He can’t help himself. He’s just a kitten and only understands three things—eat, sleep and play.

We’ll keep you posted as to how this all shakes out.

Speaking of Lily Olivia

We want to share with you the Angel vSquillion Lily Olivia we adopted. She joins the ranks of all the other Kitties Blue angels (except cat #1, Skooter) on our vSquillion page. If you’d like to visit, click on the The Felines tab at the top of the page and then the vSquillion dropdown.

Thanks for joining us today. We’ll see you tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday.

ANGEL FIONA’S VSQUILLION SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #161

Our selfie this week is a bit unusual. Actually, it is not a selfie. In fact, it is not even a photograph.

Gracie, Keeper of the Offishul CB VSquillions Shelter opened the shelter for adoptions in honor of Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day. It’s been “closed” for a very long time, and we’d been waiting to make an adoption since last December. Bet you know now where this is headed.

Meet vSquillion Angel Fiona. Mom added the frame for today’s post.

Angel Fiona's vSquillion Selfie

When Mom picked up angel vSquillion Fiona to bring her home, she cried. We all miss our sweet sisfur so much.

We now have an angel vSquillion for all Kitties Blue who are no longer with us, except Mom and Dad’s very first kitty, Skooter. (We’re not sure why he is missing.) If you’d like to meet our other angels, click on The Felines tab in our menu and then the vSquillions tab below it.

If you are new to blogging and unfamiliar with vSquillions, click on the link to the shelter, which is up above.

We are looking forward to seeing your selfies this week. As always we invite you to ask all your animal friends to join in the fun. Here are some tips for joining.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • You do not need to post on Sundays to join.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.

Prayers

We contine to pray for all those already impacted by Hurricane Irma as well as those now in its path. We also send prayers, purrs and POTP to Allie and Raz’s (Friends Furever) dad, Bill. Please take a moment to join us.

MAN-CAT MONDAY: MADISON

As you can seen, Madison wasn't too keen on getting head kisses. But I just couldn't resist planting one on him.

As you can see, Madison wasn’t too keen on getting head kisses. But I just couldn’t resist planting one on him.

This is a photo of our beautiful, blue-eyed* boy, Madison, from 2002, the year after he adopted us. He showed up on our back deck, and though he wouldn’t let us touch him, he decided he was staying. As the months went by, we finally broke down his defenses, and he let us pet him. So after six months, we invited him to move in, and he graciously accepted. Our vet estimated that he was about two years old.

Madison was one of “The Best Ever” cats who has been a part of our household. He had wonderful manners until our other kitties corrupted him. And he loved, nurtured and bathed most of the other kitties, especially MacKenzie and Louise.

He had one crazy food fetish: the juice from green olives. When he smelled it, he lost all control of himself and misbehaved badly in an attempt to get this treat.

Sadly, we lost Madison in January 2011. He was diagnosed with lymphoma and died in my arms 13 days later. I have cried for every one of our kitties when they’ve left us, but Madison’s loss was particularly heartbreaking due to its abruptness and to the belief that he had been brought to us for a special purpose.

Madison's Angel vSquillion

Madison’s Angel vSquillion

I will share more about Madison as well as additional photos in the future.

I recently adopted this Madison Angel vSquillion in his memory. The kitties and I plan to send all our love to our sweet boy by way of this darling angel.

* Unlike many white, blue-eyed cats, Madison was not deaf. When he came to us, his left eye had what appeared to be an old injury. Our vet could not tell if he possibly was blind in that eye.

If you are interested in adopting one or more vSquillions you can do so at www.virtualsquillionshelter.blogspot.com.
