ASTRID FLOURISHES AS CATURDAY ART

Caturday Art

Astrid asked if she could be the subject of today’s art creation, and I could not disappoint my precious, little cat. I mean, look at that face!

I found an older photo of her enjoying a sunpuddle in the kitchen. The contrast on it is very poor, as you will see in the original. Because of this, I think it made a good basis for our art. Astrid hopes you (and Sampy) like it.

Caturday Art using Painnt

I used the Flourish effect in Painnt to create the art. I was so happy with the colors I didn’t tinker with it. Astrid as a bi-eyed kitty looks pretty pawsome, don’t you think?

After the Painnt effect, I added the multi-colored scroll around the edge with piZap and the green and blue border with Picasa.

This is Astrid’s entry in Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. To join in the fun, click on Athena’s badge.

Here’s the original photo from March, 2017.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Don’t forget that tomorrow is the day to share your handsome/cute/adorable self (or a special friend or visitor) with us on our weekly blog hop.

As we have done much too often lately, we will be honoring and remembering friends who have flown off to the Rainbow Bridge. Please come by to pay your respects to Sister Precious from Brian’s Home and Madi from Down Home in NC. We’ll also fill you in tomorrow on a special blog hop for Madi scheduled for Wednesday, September 26; though, we suspect most of you already know about it.

Apologies

Kitties Blue asked me to apologize for not being here to help them visit your blogs. Dad Tom and I had the audacity to go away for a couple of days. I have promised them that I will work extra hard on their behalf this weekend.

And don’t feel too sorry for the crew. Chris spoiled them with way too many treats, and they still had their catio time each day.

See y’all tomorrow.

LISBETH’S BEST BIRTHDAY EVER

Tuxie Tuesday

I have the most thoughtful and generous boyfriend in the entire universe. For my birthday last week, Charles sent me a big box of goodies. And he even sent some toys for the other Kitties Blue. Here are a few photos of me investigating everything.

Lisbeth's birthday gifts

Check out the super cool fish bed and how adorable I look in it. Astrid, however, thinks all beds belong to her, and she demanded a try out before I had the opportunity. She got her cooties all over it! I snuggled in when she got out. Afterwards I had to give myself a good bath to get rid of those tortie cooties.

Here’s the proof of her cheekiness!

Astrid in Lisbeth's bed

Astrid’s bed hogging aside, I am such a fortunate kitty to have the most wonderful boyfriend in the world. I love him very much.

Lisbeth loves Charles

Purrs and paw-pats, Lisbeth (with kisses for Charles)

p.s. Isn’t he handsome?!

ENTANGLED SHARK ART

On behalf of Lisbeth and myself, I want to thank everyone who sent us birthday greetings and /or left a comment on yesterday’s post. We really appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness.

Caturday Art

As I was here to say, “thank you,” Mom suggested I take part in Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. I selected a photo of me in the shark bed for Mom to “artify.” I hadn’t been in that bed in ages, so when Mom saw me there, she had to snap a couple of photos. Here’s the arty version.

Caturday Art with Astrid

To create this, Mom started with the Entangled effect in Painnt. She changed the hue of the photo and then added Grain Merge from the color composition section. She selected the beveled edge from LunaPic borders and the final exterior border from Picasa. I really think this looks great. What do you think?

This is my entry in Athena’s blog hop. To find links to creations by your fellow bloggers or add some of your own art, click on Athena’s badge.

Anniversary Sunday Selfies

This is your reminder to get your selfie taken for tomorrow’s blog hop. You absolutely DO NOT want to miss participating tomorrow. The hop will commemorate and celebrate the four-year anniversary of Sunday Selfies. We think it’s pretty amazing that Mom has stuck with it for so long. She has a super short attention span. But best of all is that tomorrow’s post will recognize all those who have been joining us every week. Though participation has waxed and waned and has dropped off again lately, it remains a popular hop. And we continue to get new participants. So polish up your smile and join us for this special occasion.

Purrs and paw–pants, Astrid (with love and kisses for my husband Sampy)

HAPPY 7TH BIRTHDAY ASTRID & LISBETH

Birthday Edition: Friendly Fill-Ins

Friendly Fill-Ins is a blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). Sentences to be completed can be found on their blogs each Thursday. To join the hop, click on the link to either of their blogs.

As Astrid and Lisbeth are celebrating their seventh birthdays today, the remainder of the Kitties Blue crew decided they could complete this week’s fill-ins. Their completions are in teal italics.

Lisbeth: 1. I am going to give Calista Jo a great big smack right into next year the next time she bothers me. She got all up in my face yesterday, and I had to retreat UTB.
Astrid: 2. I want to be more assertive and not let Misty May bully me.
Astrid: 3. Once in a blue moon, I enjoy getting in bed with Mom in the morning and nuzzling into her neck.
Lisbeth: 4. I have a large collection of toys; though, I do have to share them with the entire Kitties Blue crew. I did, however, get a big box in the mail yesterday from my sweet and thoughtful boyfriend Charles. I get to open it today, and I do not intend to share whatever I find inside.

Celebrating

I absolutely love seeing these kitten photos taken of the girls while they were in foster care. Lisbeth’s name at the time was Cary and Astrid was Tabitha.

As he does for all his fursibs, Mau made a cake for the girls in his Cat Scout Bake Shop. Please join us for a slice or two as well as some nip bubbly and regular nip.

Thank You

The girls received a beautiful birthday card from Pipo, Minko and their mom, Ingrid (Meezer’s Mews and Terrieristical Woofs). Astrid and Lisbeth are sending their sincere thanks for the remembrance.

ASTRID’S TORTI-GORGEOUS SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #208

I hope you aren’t tired of seeing ordering from me. ‘Cause, guess what? I’m back again today, and I didn’t have to photobomb Mau this week to show off my splendid tortie furs in a selfie. I was sitting on Mom’s lap getting skin scritches when I used the Photo Booth on the computer to snap my selfie. And, if I do say so myself, I think turned out torti-gorgeous!

Look at that face? Precious, right? That dreamy look is what I get when I am thinking about my husband, Sampy.

MAU’S PHOTOBOMBED SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #207

I actually was going to do a selfie today for my lovely wife Allie. Unfortunately, Astrid had other plans. She likes me and was hoping I’d give her some attention.

Of course, she ended up upstaging me. With her big mug front and center, I was in no mood to try again for a selfie. If you look closely, you will see a mini-photobomber behind me and above my ear. He’s clueless and had no idea I was trying to take my selfie.

I am hoping that those of you joining us did a much better job than I did at capturing your adorableness. You do realize that each Sunday we post the cutest animals on the internet. You definitely don’t want to miss out on that. If you need a few tips for hopping with us, here are some tips our mom put together.

Remembering Lucy

On Friday another friend gained her wings. Lucy sustained an herniated disc and had to be helped to the Bridge.

Lucy lived with the kitties, sugar gliders and humans at Kitty Cat Chronicles. She joined the household about two-and-a-half years ago after living with Mom Emily’s parents (and Emily when she was younger). Lucy was 18 years old and loved life, especially traveling with the family’s adventure cats.

Rest in Peace, Lucy. You will always be loved and will be missed.

THE TWO FACES OF ASTRID

Caturday Art

I am not trying to say that Astrid is insincere, but rather that I made two versions of art today, featuring our tiny tortie. Astrid and I were snuggling at the time. Often in the morning, after I have opened the cat door to the catio but before I have permanently gotten up for the day, Astrid and I snuggle. She likes to burrow into my neck and knead me until I’m bloody. If I lie down for a rest in the afternoon, she often curls up on top of me.

I used Painnt to create both artistic images. They both feature the Silver Chips effect. I manipulated the color composition and coloring to achieve the two different effects. The first piece of art also employs a frame from Painnt. (And both show off her gorgeous collar, which was a gift from her wonderful husband, Sampy.)

Astrid's Silver Chip Caturday Art.

PiZap was used to add the butterfly border in this second version. The solid borders were added with Picasa.

Version #2 of Astrid's Silver Chip Caturday Art.

I usually do not post two pieces of art, but in this case I liked them both. Do you have a favorite? Let Astrid know in the comments.

Here’s the original photo of Astrid lying in my lap.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Another week has flown by, making it time for you to snap a selfie and join our blog hop. We go live at 12:01 a.m. ET every Sunday. This will be week #205 of our popular hop. We’re delighted to report that we had a few more participants last week, and hope to see a big crowd again tomorrow.

Have a great Caturday!

ASTRID’S MAGICAL PLACE

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Today’s inspiration photo, selected by Teddy and angel Sammy’s Mom, Pam, is beautiful and contains so many things to spark one’s imagination. I originally had planned to write a Haiku, as the photo said more than a bunch of words ever could. But then, Astrid got her paws on the computer. Once she started typing, she just couldn’t stop. Her poem became more of a short story, and she has her paws crossed that you enjoy it.

Here’s the photo.

A Magical Place

Are my eyes deceiving me?
This wasn’t here a moment ago.
I think I must be dreaming.
That’s it! This has to be a dream.
But I don’t feel as if I’m asleep.
But how could I be on earth,
Yet see it so clearly in the distance?
Is someone playing a trick on me?
Do they want me to think I’m delusional?
No…this must be real.
My paw pads are burning from this hot sand.
And I am really, really thirsty.
In fact, I feel as if I might faint.
That wouldn’t happen if I were sleeping.
I wonder if those other cats are real?
Maybe they can help me figure this out.
“Here, kitty, kitty, kitty.”
Why didn’t that work? That’s how Mom
Calls kitties she doesn’t know.
“Hey you, cat, can you hear me?”
Why are they ignoring me?
Maybe I’m really here but invisible.
Is that even possible?
Was I sucked into some kind of black hole?
Let’s see, what’s the last thing I remember.
Breakfast…check. Watching squirrels…check.
Napping in the sun on the catio…check.
I’ve got it…sunstroke…I fried my brain!
Yikes…how can I fix that?
Do Mom and Dad know?
I wonder if they can straighten this out?
Hey, what was that?
Who’s smacking me on the head?

Astrid speaking out loud: “Cooper Murphy is that you?
You look fuzzy and your stripes are all wavy.
Are you really here, or am I imagining you?
What happened to me? Am I alive?
Why aren’t you answering me?”
Oh cwap…am I dead? I never thought of that.
Did Misty May finally whack me?”

Cooper Murphy speaking out loud: “You’re not dead, but you are a doofus.
You burrowed so far into Mom’s neck
That you passed out cold from lack of oxygen.
Maybe you should come up for air sometimes.”

Wowzers, that sure scared me. That place
Was nice, but I wouldn’t want to live there.
I didn’t smell any stinky goodness or treaties,
And those other cats were not friendly;
Though, they didn’t try to beat me up.
It was beautiful, and interesting, however,
And I wouldn’t mind visiting again,
If I could take my sweet husband, Sampy,
An umbrella for shade and a picnic basket
Filled with shrimpies, nip wine and Temptations.
Then that magical place would be purrfect!

Thankful Thursday

Kitties Blue always have oodles of things for which they are thankful. Astrid received some super cool gifts this week from husband Sampy (Kitty Cat Chronicles) for their anniversary. She’ll share those in another post.

This week the gang is most thankful for boxes. Of course, they are always thankful for boxes, but we’ve had a bonanza of them lately. Dad Tom and I are getting ready to begin a home addition and lots of goodies have been arriving, like tile and light fixtures.  And everyone is enjoying trying them out, either inside or out.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by everyone’s pal, Brian. To join in, post for what you are thankful, and then click on his badge and enter your post link on his blog.
