BIRTHDAY SELFIES

Sunday Selfies: Week #188

Today Giulietta and our special angel, Fiona, celebrate their eighth birthday. Fiona left us almost 16 months ago, but as long as sis Giulietta is alive, we will celebrate Fiona as well. Giulietta snapped 23 selfies and was pretty miffed at me that I made her take that many, but she’s not great at looking at the cell phone. I’ll share the final photo later in this post. It’s a doozy. But first here is the gorgeous birthday girl.

Giulietta's Birthday Selfie

Of course, Fiona was unable to send a new selfie from the RB, but she too needs a birthday “card,” so I made her one from a photo taken before she got sick.

Angel Fiona's Birthday Selfie

Our resident baker, Cat Scout Mau, made a cake for the girls. We hope you’ll join us for a piece of cake and some champagne.

Remembering a Friend

Before hopping Kitties Blue and I want to honor and remember a super sweet woofie, who now has her wings. Maggie was an adorable and energetic Rack Russell Terrier who lived with my dear friend, Mary Jane, her husband, Kevin, and their daughters, Emily and Amelia. In her photo she is posing with a Christmas ornament I gave her a few years ago.

Time to Hop

Now it’s time for you to share your selfie with all of us. If you are new to hopping or just need a refresher course to enter our hop, here are some pointers.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • Posting on Sundays is not necessary to join.
  • You do not need to be a cat to enter. All anipals are welcome regardless of species.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.

Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

We received a long distance message for our dad and were asked to share it here.

Birthday wishes from angels Fiona and Lily Olivia.

Wow, we are super happy to see our two angel sisfurs today. They sure look terrific. We know Dad will be tickled to see them.

Please have a piece of cake before you leave. Mau baked it at his Cat Scout Bake Shop.

MAD SELFIE FROM NAUGHTY SAWYER

Sunday Selfies: Week #184

So…it seems the humans I live with think a cat, whom they perceive to have been naughty, is required to take the selfie. Purrsonally I have no idea what I did that could possibly be considered naughty. Did I hork in one of their shoes? NO! Did I steal another cat’s food? NO! How could I? Those same humans make me eat by myself. Did I pee or poop outside the litter box? NO! Did I scratch either of their faces? NO! Well, maybe just a couple of times. See…I have been a purrfect angel kitten. Don’t you agree?

For some stoopy reason, those same humans think that bolting out the front door, whenever I have the opportunity, and having a little adventure is naughty. I don’t have a clue what the problem is. Do you think it’s because I did it two days in a row? You know, I lived outside before they brought me into the house. I swear I can take care of myself. Regardless, I was forced to take the selfie today.

Naughty Sawyer is mad about having to take a selfie.

Can you tell I was not a happy kitten? The woman had the nerve to tell me I cut off part of my ear, thinking I would take another photo. Yeah, right NO! I could care less about a missing ear tip. The man was holding me when I took this, and I do not like to be held. The woman put that fancy confetti stuff around the edges of the photo to try to disguise my frown. Why bother? I was mad. I’m not embarrassed to show you.

Honoring and Remembering Sister Kit

Sister Kit from Brian’s Home received her wings and halo on February 10. Just three days previous, her brother, Brian, reported that she was having good and bad days, but with a change of diet, her glucose had been regulated and she hadn’t needed to start on insulin. She also had gained more than one pound. That sounded encouraging, so we were shocked to find out on February 10 that Dad Terry had to help her to the Bridge.

Each week a member of Brian’s large family joins us on the Selfies blog hop. So, as we have done with other regular hoppers, we are honoring Kit today. She and Lily Olivia were Crotchety Cougars together, so we hope that Lily Olivia and the other Cougars who have gone to the Bridge were there to greet her.

Rest in Peace Sister Kit. You were well loved and will be remembered forever.

Another Good-Bye

We learned today that handsome, five-and-a-half-year-old, black panfur, Puck, from Bad Cat Chris passed suddenly on Thursday after a very brief illness. If you have not had the opportunity to visit and leave your condolences, click on the link in the previous sentence. Rest in Peace Puck.

Hopping

It’s time for you to share your selfie with us. And if you were mad, as I was, when you took it, forget about it. That’s our purrogative as kitties.

If you are new to hopping or to Sunday Selfies, here are some simple guidelines. If you are a regular, skip over this part.

Thanks for hopping.

Purrs and paw-pats, Sawyer

BLUE ANGELS IN ART

Caturday Art

I have gone back in time for the photo I used as the basis for today’s art. It features our Blue angels, Madison (front) and MacKenzie (back). The photo was taken on December 11, 2009. Both boys passed away in 2011. To read more about these kitties, click on “The Felines” tab at the top of the page.

Blue angels in art

I absolutely loved these man-cats, and they totally loved each other. Finding them snuggled together was not unusual.

basis for blue angels in art

Original Photo

Again this week, I used the Painnt app. I like it, as once you have decided on and applied an effect, it can be manipulated in dozens of ways by various percentages. I created my art with the Desigual effect and made changes to the color, color composition and detail. The plain blue border was added with Picasa and the flower accents with piZap.

The arty photo is my submission for Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. This is a great hop, giving you the opportunity to use your imagination and creativity. It’s also a great way to save a “bad” photo.

If you’d like to join the hop or just view the art, click on Athena’s badge.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Time to straighten your furs and get out your best smile. We’ll be hopping tomorrow with a special guest host. Kitties Blue are doing the happy dance as none of them will be called upon. Looking forward to seeing all our old friends and maybe some new ones as well.

MINI RANT ON TUXIE TUESDAY

Tuxie Tuesday Doozy of a Snoozy

Since Sawyer came to live with us and Lily Olivia got her wings, the dynamic around our house is totally different. We are all a bit confused as to our roles. Misty May is trying to assert herself and take over Lily Olivia’s position as Commander of Everything and Everyone. Unlike Lily, however, she is needy, as opposed to demanding. The humans consider needy to be an annoying trait, and the remainder of us must agree. This isn’t to say that most of us don’t love Misty May. We just don’t think she is leadership material. After all, she is a bully. We understand many powerful people are bullies, but that will not be tolerated in our coterie of cats.

Misty May has been doing her best to curry favor with some of us to gain our support, especially the other tuxie female in the house, Lisbeth.

Tuxie Tuesday

As you can see, she has taken Lisbeth under her wing paw, even when they are sleeping. We suggest that Lisbeth not get too cozy. We know this camaraderie will not last if Misty May takes over as Top Cat.

Misty May and Mau are the oldest of this rag-tag bunch, so one of them probably is next in line for the job. We suspect mild-mannered Mau will garner most of the votes. He is a good candidate, as he has learned many important rules with regard to leadership as an Order of the Arrowhead, Sabertooth Cat Scout.

Misty May is not suited to ascend to the throne (Mom’s lap) as she refuses to sit quietly in contemplation—a most important trait for all of those in power. Mau can get awfully wordy at times, but he does recognize the importance of a regal bearing while on the throne. MOUSES! Did we really say that?

The new hierarchy definitely has not been decided, and we suspect we can look forward—NOT—to a long campaign season. In the meantime most of us are keeping a low profile, except for Sawyer. He can’t help himself. He’s just a kitten and only understands three things—eat, sleep and play.

We’ll keep you posted as to how this all shakes out.

Speaking of Lily Olivia

We want to share with you the Angel vSquillion Lily Olivia we adopted. She joins the ranks of all the other Kitties Blue angels (except cat #1, Skooter) on our vSquillion page. If you’d like to visit, click on the The Felines tab at the top of the page and then the vSquillion dropdown.

Thanks for joining us today. We’ll see you tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday.

REMEMEBERING ANGEL SAMMY

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

We have a special poem today remembering our friend and the originator of Thoroughly Poetic Thursday, now angel Sammy.

We had this colorful photo of hot air balloons as our inspiration.

Remembering Angel Sammy

Do you remember angel Sammy’s Balloon
Adventure when he visited his friends?
He came to see us in Roanoke
And flew over the famous Mill Mountain Star.
We hung a sign on the star welcoming
The King of Baconia to our city.
We even had bacon cookies waiting.
Sammy visited many pals on his trip.
As Sammy went to the Bridge that day,
It was both a special and sad journey.
Mau lost his best friend, but Fiona
Had Sammy as her traveling companion.
They received their wings together and
Now look down on the balloons and us all.
We miss our sister and our dear friend
And wish they could fly down for a visit.

Here’s a photo taken the day of Sammy’s visit and included on our post, “Come Fly With Me for Sammy.”

Come Fly With Me

To take part in Thoroughly Poetic Thursday, check out the photo prompt at Two Spoiled Cats, write a poem and post it on Thursday. Then visit Teddy and Sammy’s blog and post your poem or a link to your post in the comments. You can visit Two Spoiled Cats and read angel Sammy’s always memorable poem by clicking on his badge.

Thankful Thursday

We also participate in Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop each week. We all think it is very important to be grateful. You may think my thankfulness is a bit silly this week, but I can’t help myself. I found out when visiting Four-Legged Furballs yesterday that today is Winnie the Pooh Day, and I adore Pooh. So, I am grateful today that A.A. Milne created Pooh and all his friends, especially Tigger.  In fact, I like Pooh and Tigger so much, I have them both tattooed on my back. As today is Pooh’s special day, I am sharing a photo of that tattoo.

I’ve had this tattoo for about 20 years, so Pooh isn’t as vibrant as he once was, and it’s not a great photo, but I still wanted to share.

If you’d like to share on your blog for what you are thankful and join Brian’s hop, click on his badge.

PASTICHE OF FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #79

Today we are joining the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop, as we do each Friday. The hop is hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). They each select two sentences for us to complete on Fridays and post them on their blogs on Thursdays. My completions are in teal italics.

The hop is conducted on Annie’s blog. You can go there and link up by clicking on the badge.

1. The best part of where I live is the home I share with Kitties Blue and Dad Tom.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #79

Friendly Fill-Ins: #79

2. The worst part of where I live is that it is a several-hour drive to the ocean, and then it is the Atlantic. I grew up less than an hour from the Pacific. In college I lived just a few blocks from it.

Friendly Fill-Ins #79

This is a photo that Dad Tom took on our recent trip to California. It is the Pacific Ocean at Big Sur with Highway 1 and the Bixby Bridge. If you are a follower of the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats, you will have seen this photo.

3. If I had the money and location, I would open a sanctuary for black cats in memory of our two panfurs, angels Thelma and Twinkle. Of course, no homeless cat would be turned away regardless of color or breed.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week 79

4. My favourite article of cold weather clothing is a hoodie, preferably one with a cat on the front.

REMEMBERING OUR FRIEND PHOEBE

Sunday Selfies: Week #164

It is with great sadness that I join you as host of Sunday Selfies, but I wanted to be here to honor our friend Phoebe. Before I do, Mom says that I need to share my selfie. I’m not smiling. This is my sad face.

Lily Olivua hosts Sunday Selfies.

I did have Mom add some hearts around my photo to show my love for Phoebe.

Phoebe was the main spokes cat for 15 And Meowing. She was the beautiful Purrincess to Purrince Siddhartha Henry at The Purrfect Pad. She loved treats, but most of all, Phoebe loved her grammie and her purrince. Phoebe was a member of the Crotchety Cougars Club, and her mom, Ellen, made the red hats for all the members. Phoebe had spunk and wit. She was loved by all who knew her. She was especially happy when she was told, “You are beautiful.” And she was!

Either Phoebe or one of her fursibs was always here for Sunday Selfies.

All the Kitties Blue are going to miss our sweet friend. So today, we honor and remember her.

Phoebe is remembered on the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop.

Rest in Peace our dear and beautiful friend, Phoebe. We love you.

Sadly we lost another friend a few days ago. The lovely (Erinn) Zuzu from Colehaus Cats. if you have not had the opportunity to stop by and offer your condolences, please do so. Her passing was sudden and totally unexpected.

That’s right! Now it is time for you to share your magnificent selfie with all your friends on the hop. Here are a few guidelines for anyone new to the hop.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.

Reunion

As most of you know, our mom has been working for about 1 1/2 years on the committee planning her 50th high school reunion. Well the time is finally here. She is writing this for us early on Saturday morning as she’ll be busy Saturday night hugging and reminiscing with old friends. We may not get around to visiting, so if everyone else would please hop over to a couple of blogs your normally don’t visit, that would be most excellent.

Tomorrow we will have a guest post you won’t want to miss.

Purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia

ODD STILL LIFE WITH CATS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

After yesterday’s post, we didn’t think our mom could get any crazier, but we were wrong. It is evident now that she has more than one screw loose, and that they are rattling around in her head. We have no idea what to make of this ODD poem or the graphic she made to accompany it. But before we let you judge for yourselves, a bit of explanation is required.

This week’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday, hosted by Angel Sammy and Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats), has “O” as its prompt letter. The prompt words selected for this week are 1) Open, 2) Octopus, 3) Olive and 4) Odd. As you can see, they really having nothing in common with each other. Nonetheless, Ms. Crazypants decided she’d include them all in one poem. For better or worse, here it is.

Cat Foods

Madison was crazy for green olive juice.
We know that is definitely odd.
But Cooper goes nutty for watermelon,
So to his strange taste, we also give a nod.

Thelma wanted water from steamed broccoli,
Yet another kitty with a crazy food festish.
Daphne stripped the flesh from artichoke leaves—
An additional unusual food for a cat to relish.

None of us have ever eaten octopus.
How could we with “puss” in its name?
But open a can of tuna; add some mayo,
And any leftovers are fair game.

Lily Olivia begs for and eats almost anything.
She never misses a meal and isn’t picky.
But some of us aren’t open to just any noms.
In fact, Giulietta is darn persnickety.

Calista will leave her food to pilfer from others,
But for some odd reason, she doesn’t like treats.
Like humans, every cat has its own food obsessions,
So you can never predict what they’ll like to eat.

© Janet Buickerood Blue 09/20/2017

So Mom was going to try to attribute this poem to us, but we said, “no way.” We told her that she wrote it, so she had to claim it. But if you thought the poem was ODD, check out this graphic. It is totally bizarre.

Angel cats, Thelma and Madison, in a peculiar still life.

If you don’t recognize the two kitties, they are angels, Thelma and Madison. You can find out more about them on The Felines page.

To read Angel Sammy’s poem or find links to what we are certain will be much better poems than this one, click on the Thoroughly Poetic Thursday badge.

Thankful Thursday

We are participating in Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop as well. We feel a tad bit guilty being grateful for anything while so many others are suffering the ravages of hurricanes and an earthquake. All this devastation makes us very sad.

But we are grateful to have so many finds in the blogosphere, and want to thank three in particular: Pipo, Mr.Jack Freckles and Mom Ingrid from Meezer’s Mews & Freckles’ Woofs.

They sent Mauricio and Misty May this precious card for their birthday. Check out those cute mice!

ANGEL FIONA’S VSQUILLION SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #161

Our selfie this week is a bit unusual. Actually, it is not a selfie. In fact, it is not even a photograph.

Gracie, Keeper of the Offishul CB VSquillions Shelter opened the shelter for adoptions in honor of Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day. It’s been “closed” for a very long time, and we’d been waiting to make an adoption since last December. Bet you know now where this is headed.

Meet vSquillion Angel Fiona. Mom added the frame for today’s post.

Angel Fiona's vSquillion Selfie

When Mom picked up angel vSquillion Fiona to bring her home, she cried. We all miss our sweet sisfur so much.

We now have an angel vSquillion for all Kitties Blue who are no longer with us, except Mom and Dad’s very first kitty, Skooter. (We’re not sure why he is missing.) If you’d like to meet our other angels, click on The Felines tab in our menu and then the vSquillions tab below it.

If you are new to blogging and unfamiliar with vSquillions, click on the link to the shelter, which is up above.

We are looking forward to seeing your selfies this week. As always we invite you to ask all your animal friends to join in the fun. Here are some tips for joining.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • You do not need to post on Sundays to join.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.

Prayers

We contine to pray for all those already impacted by Hurricane Irma as well as those now in its path. We also send prayers, purrs and POTP to Allie and Raz’s (Friends Furever) dad, Bill. Please take a moment to join us.
