Doozy of a Snoozy

GINGER CAT NAP ATTACK

Feline Friday

Here we are again with another photo of a napping Kitties Blue.

ginger cat nap attack: Ginger tabby sleeping on side with belly exposed.

Our ginger, nap-attack cat, Cooper Murphy, will be joining in the Feline Friday blog hop at messymimi’s meanderings. If you’d like to participate in the hop, click on the badge below.

Friendly Fill-Ins

The Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop is hosted each Friday by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). They publish the fill-in sentences on their blogs each Thursday. To join the hop, click on the badge at the left.

I lucked out this week, as I had two helpers in completing the fill-ins, Kizmet and Stinky. We all used teal italics for our fill-ins. Any explanations are in parentheses.

1. Kizmet: I enjoy watching birds and squirrels in person and on YouTube TV, where I enjoy watching women’s professional volleyball as well.

2. I will try to remember to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day. (I am 50 percent Irish.)

3. Others come to me when they need help with editing something they have written.

4. Stinky: Periwinkle is my lucky charm.

Thank you for stopping by today. We look forward to seeing you again tomorrow when we’ll share some Caturday Art.

FRIDAY BLOG HOPS WITH NAPPING CATS

Feline Friday

Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy could care less about participating in the Friday blog hops! They plan to nap their way right through them.

My faithful sidekick for fill-ins, Sawyer, helped out again this week. I am so grateful that he is willing to help out regularly. We both used teal italics for our completions. Any explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. The Goodbye Girl from 1977 is a movie I can quote by heart.

2. Sawyer: Not eating my noms is a bad habit that I would like to stop doing. (This is a bad habit Dad Tom and I wish Sawyer would break. We are not exactly sure how he feels about it.)

3. I look forward to the return of spring flowers.

4. Sawyer: Amongst my family and friends, I’m known as the PTU pooper.

That does it for another week. To those of you who stopped in to see us today, “Thank you for your support, comments and friendship.”

We will see you again tomorrow with some Caturday Art.

SIBLING RIVALRY & SNOOZING SIBLINGS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

I have quite a silly little poem today based on the Two Spoiled Cats, Angel Sammy and Teddy’s, inspiration photo for Thoroughly Poetic Thursday,

Sibling Rivalry

My brother is a menace.
He keeps sticking his paw in my face.
Then he drools all over me
before he lifts his leg for a pee
right on top of my big bum.
Finally he sprints back to the house
to hind behind Mom—what a louse!

Each week Angel Sammy transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to Teddy for publication. Sammy writes amazing poetry, which is always worth reading. Please stop over to Two Spoiled Cats, by clicking on the poetry badge, to check out Sammy’s poem and get the photo for next week’s challenge.

Thankful Thursday

In addition to poetry, Thursday is the day we tell you about the things for which we are thankful.

Unlike the woofies above, Audrey and Raleigh remain pals and even share a snooze in a sunpuddle, for which I am thankful.

I am thankful I was able to have lunch with my dear friend, Mary Jane, this week.

I also am thankful for the special necklace Dad Tom gave me for Valentine’s Day as well as the box of Godiva dark chocolate truffles.

Last Friday I found and purchased a really comfy chair for myself for our bedroom. That is where our television is, so it is particularly nice to have someplace to curl up with a cat or two.

All the Kitties Blue and I are extremely grateful for all our friends, followers and commenters. Your support means the world to us.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Angel Brown. To participate, click on the Badge below.

We look forward to seeing you again tomorrow for Feline Friday and Friendly Fill-Ins.

SUNPUDDLE SNOOZERS & THE PROBLEM WITH PANCAKES

Thankful Thursday

Each Thursday, Kitties Blue and I share the things for which we are thankful. Here’s our list for this week.

Kitties Blue are thankful for sunpuddles, especially C.J.,  Sawyer and Kizmet. Sunpuddles are always a great spot for an afternoon snooze.

Three cats snoozing in a sunpuddle.

Dad Tom and I are thankful Sawyer’s phenobarbital came in the mail. We were out, and he hadn’t had any for a couple of days. He had a seizure on Saturday, so we were quite anxious for it to arrive.

The gang and I are thankful for those of you who visited and left a comment on our Looking Back post for this week. Yesterday evening, I actually added two more categories to our new awards for 2024: Best Biscuit Makers: (tie) Audrey & Cooper Murphy and Most Unique Biscuit Maker: Astrid. Astrid makes biscuits with all four paws usually while turning in a circle at the same time! (If you missed that post, here’s the link, “The Kitten’s Choice Awards.”)

Periwinkle & Stinky are thankful for those of you who joined their adventure on Tuesday and have completed the jigsaw puzzles created from their A.I.-generated art.

Kitties Blue and I are thankful for everyone who visits, comments on our posts and supports us!

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Angel Brian. If you would like to participate, click on the hop badge below.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thursday is poetry day as well. That’s when I write a poem based on an inspiration photo provided by Angel Sammy and Teddy from Two Spoiled Cats. Today’s photo is super funny. I wish I could say the same for my poem. What I am posting was my second attempt, so I knew it wasn’t going to get any better.

Little girl making pancakes with one landing on her dad's head.

I did take some poetic license and indicated this little girl was making pancakes; though, it appears she actually was making crepes. The photo obviously has been staged, but is still terrific!

The Problem with Pancakes

I may be a kid, but making pancakes is
my specialty. Mostly they are edible.
Occasionally, though, I make a mistake:
I’ve forgotten ingredients in the past
and left the lid off the blender, so batter flew
through the air, landing on clothes, face and hair.
The griddle might be too cold or too hot or
batter ends up on the stove top. My pancakes can
sometimes stick, burn or tear, or there is an
unfortunate mishap, like the time one landed
in my lap. But today was truly a first. When
I tried to flip my griddled goodie, I sneezed and
sent that flapjack high into the air. Dad now
wears a pancake as a hat, and I have an
hilarious photo to share for show and tell.

YOGA MASTER SAWYER & FILL-INS

Feline Friday

Yoga master Sawyer: grey tabby Manx cat in a contorted napping position.

Sawyer’s position during his nap is the most unusual I have ever encountered. He’s a true yoga master.

I have a little surprise for you today—a bonus puzzle.

I am grateful to have a helper again this week. Stinky was kind enough to complete fill-in #2. The fill-ins were not so easy this week. Both Stinky and I used teal italics for filling in.

1. I used to dislike bread pudding until I had some made with croissants.

2. Stinky: If it weren’t for Periwinkle, I would never have any fun.

3. I find higher math very intimidating.

4. Kitties Blue gives me the inspiration to write this blog.

Thanks for joining again today. We will be back with some art on Caturday.

TWO TABBIES CATURDAY ART

Caturday Art

I caught Sawyer and Audrey snuggling at bedtime last night. Though, I was able to get some photos of them; I could not coax Sawyer to open his eyes.

I created two versions of the art. If you like one better than the other, let us know in the comments.

Two tabbies snuggling (one asleep and one awake) in colors of aqua, blue, purple, magenta and gold and framed for Caturday Art.

For this version of the art I used the Carrots effect from Painnt with a change in hue. To that I added Painnt’s Morning Ritual effect as well as a frame from favpng.

Two tabbies snuggling (one asleep and one awake) in colors muted colors and framed for Caturday Art.

I used the same effects from Painnt as described above for this version. To that I added the Parchment filter at 100 percent from piZap. Again the frame is from favpng.

I made a puzzle from each creation.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Tomorrow is a super special Sunday Selfies post. I could be secretive and make you wait until tomorrow to find out why, but I’m going to tell you. A certain large, ginger tabby cat does not want you to miss the post, as it is his seventh Gotcha Day. That’s right, seven years ago Coop came into our lives when he showed up at a friend’s house in the middle of a snow storm. When she called us, Dad Tom grabbed a PTU and walked the short distance to her house. That day, a cat we called “Not Charlie” was on his way to become a Kitties Blue. Tomorrow I will link to the first post where he was introduced.

And, of course, we’ll be having a party, and everyone is invited. You don’t even need to link up a selfie to come and party with us, but we hope you will. If you would like more information about Cooper Murphy prior to tomorrow, check out our “The Felines” page.

Thanks for joining us today. Have a meowvolous Caturday.

NEW YEAR OPPORTUNITIES & POSSIBILITES

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

NewYear’s Eve is just a few days away, and angel Sammy and Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats) have provided us with an appropriate inspiration photo for this week’s poem.

New Year - Opportunities & Possibilities: An older couple wearing party hats and celebrating the new year.

At our age, Dad Tom and I rarely stay up to greet the New Year, but these two senior citizens appear to be having a great time. Of course, with drawn curtains, there really isn’t any way to tell what time it was when the photo was snapped. Anyhoo, none of that matters when it comes to my poem.

New Year – Opportunities & Possibilities

With every new year we hope and pray
for the promise of great things: If we
are ill, with God’s grace and the right
treatment we will be cured; if we play
the lottery, maybe we’ll win big!
We pray our kids or grandkids will get
good grades and be accepted to
a prestigious college. Maybe our
boss will recognize our extraordinary
abilities and give us a well-deserved raise.
No matter our age, a new year offers
imagined as well as unimagined
possibilities and opportunities.
We reach for them with hope, a smile and
a shared kiss at midnight with a loved one.

Each week Angel Sammy transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to Teddy for publication. In our opinion, Sammy is a super talented poet, and he always writes a first-rate poem. Thankful Thursday

It’s easy to be thankful around Christmastime. We share greetings with family and friends, give and receive gifts, help out our favorite charities and have yummy treats to eat. I am particularly thankful our gifts arrived at their destinations in time for Christmas, and that I got all the Kitties Blue cards in the mail before the holiday. When those will arrive to our friends living in other countries is anyone’s guess. Hopefully, they’ll have a nice surprise for Valentine’s Day.

Kitties Blue and I are thankful for all the greeting cards they have received. I have promised them we will share the cards with everyone in a future post.

Kizmet and Audrey are thankful for each other!

New Year - Opportunities & Possibilities: A grey cat and a torbie cat sleeping and resting their heads on each other.

And, of course, we are thankful you visited us today. The kitties and I hope to see you again tomorrow as well for Feline Friday, featuring Raleigh, and Friendly Fill-ins.

NO SPACE TO SNOOZE

Feline Friday

no space to snooze: Ginger tabby cat and torbie cat together snoozing in a blue chair with a pale ginger tabby cat snoozing underneath.

Raleigh has shredded the fabric from the bottom of all the chairs in the living room. Cooper Murphy took Raleigh’s spot in the chair with Audrey and left him no space to snooze. So, Raleigh ended up sleeping on the fabric he’d pulled down before I totally removed it.

The boys and Audrey will be participating in the Feline Friday blog hop hosted by messymimi’s meanderings. If you’d like to do the same, click on the badge below.

I apologize for not doing the Friendly Fill-Ins this week. I just couldn’t come up with completions, and the sentences really weren’t ones the kitties could take over for me.

Kitties Blue and I truly appreciate that you came to see us today. We will be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art.

CATNIP COMA

Caturday Art

Two cats are in a catnip coma atop a table in an "artified" photo in colors of aqua, blue, pink, purple and yellow.

.
A few weeks ago I shared some Caturday Art of Calista Jo passed out on the catio table, after imbibing in some homegrown nip. It was in the post, “Nip-Induced Nap.” Today, I have both Kizmet (on the left) and C.J. (again) on the right. I guess our homegrown nip is pretty good stuff!

I used Painnt to create my art. This is the Desigual effect, which I tinkered with to the point that I am unable to tell you exactly what I did. To that I added the Flower Power filter from piZap as well as a frame from the favpng app.

And, of course, there is a puzzle. I hope you enjoy it!

Sunday Selfies Reminder

I cannot believe tomorrow is the last Sunday of the month. Two-thirds of 2023 is nearly behind us. I absolutely do not know where the minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years go. Though, whenever I look in the mirror, I see every one of those moments in time on my face and body. So what does that have to do with Sunday Selfies? Absolutely nothing! It’s just how I’m feeling as I finish this post. Hope it’s okay I shared that with all of you.

As far as Sunday Selfies go, your host has been identified and the selfie already snapped. I won’t have to chase any of the Kitties Blue down today. That’s always a relief. But I am not giving any hints as to which of the Kitties Blue it is. You will have to stop in to find out.

Thanks so much for joining us today. See you mañana.

NIP-INDUCED NAP

Caturday Art

Some kitty indulged in a bit too much nip.

Nip-Induced nap: Art rendering in the colors of blue, rose and yellow of a dilute tortoise shell cat sleeping on a table with a pile of half-eaten catnip.

That’s Calista Jo in a nip-induced nap on the catio table after imbibing some fresh, home-grown catnip. You can see the remnants of the nip in the foreground. C.J. wasn’t too happy that she had her photo snapped while she was exposing her ample belly. She is the second largest of the Kitties Blue weighing in at just under 17 pounds. I always find it hard to believe that the tiny kitten whom Astrid (currently just over six pounds) towered over has grown into this behemoth. (Please don’t tell her I said that!) C.J. does have a tendency to throw that weight around. She can be really hissy and a bit of a bully, especially when it comes to Lisbeth.

But Calista Jo loves me. She must sleep as close to me as she can every night. If she could crawl under my skin, she would.

To create the art, I, of course, used Painnt. This is the Galle effect. To that I added the Curved Light filter from piZap at 70 percent. As per usual, the frame is from the favpng app.

And, here’s the puzzle.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Tomorrow’s the day when we all put our best paw, fin, wing or whatever appendage is appropriate for your species, forward and share a selfie. No one here is leaping at the opportunity to be your host, but I am certain I’ll coerce on of the Kitties Blue in time to go live at midnight ET on Sunday.

We know that some of you enjoy taking a selfie, which is the only reason we’ll be back tomorrow for week #468 of this hop. Maybe, we’ll even get some newcomers participating.

So, all the Kitties Blue hope you have a terrific Caturday and look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
