Doozy of a Snoozy

CATNIP COMA

Caturday Art

Two cats are in a catnip coma atop a table in an "artified" photo in colors of aqua, blue, pink, purple and yellow.

.
A few weeks ago I shared some Caturday Art of Calista Jo passed out on the catio table, after imbibing in some homegrown nip. It was in the post, “Nip-Induced Nap.” Today, I have both Kizmet (on the left) and C.J. (again) on the right. I guess our homegrown nip is pretty good stuff!

I used Painnt to create my art. This is the Desigual effect, which I tinkered with to the point that I am unable to tell you exactly what I did. To that I added the Flower Power filter from piZap as well as a frame from the favpng app.

And, of course, there is a puzzle. I hope you enjoy it!

Sunday Selfies Reminder

I cannot believe tomorrow is the last Sunday of the month. Two-thirds of 2023 is nearly behind us. I absolutely do not know where the minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years go. Though, whenever I look in the mirror, I see every one of those moments in time on my face and body. So what does that have to do with Sunday Selfies? Absolutely nothing! It’s just how I’m feeling as I finish this post. Hope it’s okay I shared that with all of you.

As far as Sunday Selfies go, your host has been identified and the selfie already snapped. I won’t have to chase any of the Kitties Blue down today. That’s always a relief. But I am not giving any hints as to which of the Kitties Blue it is. You will have to stop in to find out.

Thanks so much for joining us today. See you mañana.

NIP-INDUCED NAP

Caturday Art

Some kitty indulged in a bit too much nip.

Nip-Induced nap: Art rendering in the colors of blue, rose and yellow of a dilute tortoise shell cat sleeping on a table with a pile of half-eaten catnip.

That’s Calista Jo in a nip-induced nap on the catio table after imbibing some fresh, home-grown catnip. You can see the remnants of the nip in the foreground. C.J. wasn’t too happy that she had her photo snapped while she was exposing her ample belly. She is the second largest of the Kitties Blue weighing in at just under 17 pounds. I always find it hard to believe that the tiny kitten whom Astrid (currently just over six pounds) towered over has grown into this behemoth. (Please don’t tell her I said that!) C.J. does have a tendency to throw that weight around. She can be really hissy and a bit of a bully, especially when it comes to Lisbeth.

But Calista Jo loves me. She must sleep as close to me as she can every night. If she could crawl under my skin, she would.

To create the art, I, of course, used Painnt. This is the Galle effect. To that I added the Curved Light filter from piZap at 70 percent. As per usual, the frame is from the favpng app.

And, here’s the puzzle.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Tomorrow’s the day when we all put our best paw, fin, wing or whatever appendage is appropriate for your species, forward and share a selfie. No one here is leaping at the opportunity to be your host, but I am certain I’ll coerce on of the Kitties Blue in time to go live at midnight ET on Sunday.

We know that some of you enjoy taking a selfie, which is the only reason we’ll be back tomorrow for week #468 of this hop. Maybe, we’ll even get some newcomers participating.

So, all the Kitties Blue hope you have a terrific Caturday and look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

CAN YOU MAKE HEADS OR TAILS OF THIS?

Feline Friday

Misty May and Cooper Murphy’s tail will be joining the Feline Friday blog hop hosted by messymimi’s meanderings. To join them on the hop, click on the Feline Friday badge.

Friendly Fill-Ins

The Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop is hosted each Friday by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). The sentences to be filled in can be found on their blogs each Thursday. To join the hop, click on the badge at the left.

The Fill-Ins are always easier to complete when I get help from one or more of the Kitties Blue. This week I am fortunate to have assistance from both Audrey and Stinky. We all used teal italics for our completions. Explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. I hope I never have to look for another lost cat. (Sawyer was not our first cat to go missing. Angel Fiona was gone for two weeks hiding out in our neighbor’s basement. Angel Madison disappeared for three days when housekeeper/kitty caregiver, Chris, wouldn’t let him in the house when he asked. He had been rolling in the dirt and was so brown [instead of white] that Chris didn’t recognize him.)

2. I must remember to feed Misty May whenever she asks. (We are not treating her hyperthyroidism as she did not do well on the meds. So, she is hungry quite often. She weighs only about four pounds now and can have all the noms she wants.)

3. Audrey: I learned about the yumminess of treats when I saw how much all the other Kitties Blue, and especially Sawyer, liked them.

4. Stinky: Planning Periwinkle’s and my next adventure has been occupying a lot of my time these days. (I am planning something special that will include some of our friends.)

That’s it for today. Thanks so much for joining us. Please return tomorrow when we share some Caturday Art.

SUNNY DAY GINGER SNOOZER

Caturday Art

Sunny Day Ginger: ginger tabby cat snoozing on a sunny day and turned into art in colors of orange, yellow and rose and framed with orange flowers.

Raleigh was enjoying a snooze on the catio right outside the cat door on a hot and sunny day. Any cat that wanted to enter or exit the house had to jump over him. He was unmoved by these actions.

As you can see, he is no longer kitten-sized. He and Audrey are all grown up and will celebrate their first Gotcha Day in a few days. You would think after being here for a year that Raleigh might have warmed up to Dad Tom and me, but he still shies away from us and does not want to be touched. He is such a cutie pie. It breaks my heart I can’t pet and snuggle with him.

To create Raleigh’s art I used the Flower Gogh effect from Painnt and changed the hue slightly. To that I added the Flux filter from piZap at 100 percent. And, of course, the frame is from the favpng app.

I made a puzzle for those of you who enjoy them. I cropped off all the white space created by the frame, as I know it is pretty boring putting all those white pieces together.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Time to spruce up your furs, feathers or scales and snap a selfie so you can join us tomorrow on our weekly blog hop. It’s easy and fun and one of the best places on the internet to make new friends. All the humans love seeing cute animals and “oohing” and “aahing” over them, so this is the purrfect place to show off. Your host tomorrow is a mystery to me, so you’ll definitely need to drop in to find out who it is. And don’t forget, if you don’t post on Sundays or cannot join us then for some other reason, the hop remains open through Thursday.

Thank You

Kitties Blue and I want to thank you for joining us today and also for stopping by yesterday to celebrate our 11th blogoversary and Sawyer’s second anniversary of his second Gotcha Day. If you missed that post, the link to it is at the bottom of this one.

Have a wonderful Caturday. Tell your humans to spoil you.

NATIONAL TABBY CAT DAY SUNDAY SELFIES

Sunday Selfies: Week #454

A couple commenters yesterday mentioned that they were looking forward to today’s surprise. There really wasn’t going to be a surprise, other than the fact that one of us Kitties Blue had already snapped a selfie.

Portent of grey tabby cat sleeping

And that kitty was me, Sawyer. As Audrey got away with posting a snoozy selfie last Sunday, I decided I could do the same this week. I think I look cute awake or asleep.

Surprise!

Actually, we do have a surprise. Unfortunately, it is not a good one. Somehow Raleigh got out of the catio. When Mom and Dad called him for dinner last night, he didn’t come. Mom checked the upstairs catio and didn’t find him. They thought he must be inside on the second floor. A very short time later, Mom looked out the kitchen window and saw him under the catio. Of course, trying to get him to come to her or Dad was futile, and he finally disappeared with barely 30 minutes of daylight left.

Raleigh is a good-for-nothing bum, and he continually takes his collar off. As he hates being touched, it is often days before Mom or Dad can get it back on him. So he was and still is out somewhere without it.

Mom and Dad have set up our trap under the catio with both stinky goodness and tuna in it. Dad checked it at 10 p.m., but it still sat empty. Mom plans to check it every hour through the night. And she will start searching the neighborhood in the morning. Rain is in the weather forecast, which isn’t good, but might just tempt him to come home.

He’s also been posted as lost on PawBoost, our neighborhood forum and Facebook, and Mom has reported him missing to the microchip company.

To be honest, Mom does not expect to see him again. He may like getting three square meals a day as well as treats and free-feeding kibble, but he doesn’t like Mom or Dad or any other people for that matter. Don’t get me wrong, she wants him to come home or be found, but she is trying to be realistic.

After going through this with me, she doesn’t need any advice or suggestions on how to find him or get him home. But she and Dad ask you to please keep the little stinker in your prayers. She and Dad obviously do not want anything bad to happen to him.

National Tabby Cat Day

Cooper Murphy, Audrey and I are looking forward to being spoiled rotten today. Of course, that happens everyday. If Raleigh comes home, he’ll get the same treatment. What self-respecting tabby goes missing the day before our special day? Sheesh! Anyhoo, we wish all our tabby friends a treat- and fun-filled day, including lots of cuddles and play time.

Hopping Time

Now that I have shared my adorable, snoozing selfie with you and filled you in on most of our news (Kizmet also escaped on Caturday, but as she wears her tracking collar, she was easily found and brought back in the house.), it’s time for you to snap your selfie and join our little hop. You know your friends will be looking for you, and you don’t want to let them down.

After that, you can enjoy a nice Easy Sunday and Tabby Cat Day.

Thanks for joining us today and being our friends.

Purrs and paw-pats, Sawyer (with whisker kisses to Noelle)

UPDATE: The little turkey returned home at 3:30 a.m. Mom heard some cat scratching franticly at the cat door. It was Raleigh on the outside. She and Dad had left the door to the catio open in case Raleigh came home. He went straight to the food bowl! Guess he gets to celebrate National Tabby Cat Day after all.

Thanks for your prayers!

COMPETITION FOR #1 NAPPER

Sunday Selfies: Week #453

Tabby kitten, Audrey, is in the #1 napper competition inn organza ribbon. a circular photo framed with white lace , lavender and yellow flowers

As I suspected, most of the Kitties Blue spent yesterday in the bedroom napping, which made it easy to get a selfie for today. Audrey is competing with Calista Jo to be the #1 napper among the Kitties Blue. She can nap all day and sleep all night! I’ll keep you posted as to which feline eventually wins the battle of the snooze!

Whether you’re awake or asleep in your selfie, we really want to see it. And Kitties Blue and I know all your other friends want to as well. If you are too busy or sleepy to join us today, the hop remains open through Thursday, but then you already know that.

If you are here to join the hop or merely here to check out your friends, thank you so much for joining us. Enjoy an easy Sunday as well.

Once again Cooper Murphy is sharing his toesies, tummy and tailio while he dreams of Santa leaving him some tasty mousies in his Christmas stocking! He’s also joining the Feline and Friendship Friday blog hops at Comedy Plus and Create With Joy respectively.

Friendly Fill-Ins

Sawyer gave me some help again this week. He is my go-to cat when I need help. I really appreciate it, as I jinxed him yesterday when I wrote about the number of days between his seizures. He had one before dinner last night, so the count begins again.

We both used teal italics for filling in. Any explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. I have a tough time choosing a gift for Kitties Blue. (They have absolutely everything any cat could want, but they are getting somme pretty good gifts this year to replace some things they have worn out.)

2. Sawyer: I can’t wait to see Noelle open the gift from me. (I cannot tell you what it is, as she reads our blog. And, of course, I won’t be there personally to see her open it. But I know she’s going to really, really like it!)

3. I’m dreaming of a quiet Christmas.

4. If my holiday season were a book or movie, it would be titled, “Christmas Arrives Late Again.”

That’s it for today. We’ll see you all tomorrow with some Christmas Caturday Art featuring Raleigh and Kizmet.

SUNPUDDLE SNOOZERS & FILL-INS

Feline/Friendship Friday

Sunpuddle snoozers: tuxie cat and grey tabby cat sprawled together in the sun and sleeping.

The last couple days have been super cold but sunny. Most cats are heat seekers, and Kitties Blue are no exception. When there is a sunpuddle, it is first come first serve unless there just happens to be room for more than one kitty. And that can make for some unusual companions.

Our two sunpuddle snoozers, Misty May and Sawyer, will be joining the blog hops hosted by Comedy Plus (Feline Friday) and Create With Joy (Friendship Friday).

Friendly Fill-Ins

As has become a habit for him, Sawyer has helped be complete the fill-ins today. We both used teal italics.

1. On holidays, I usually have a second serving of dessert.

2. I am thankful for Dad Tom, Kitties Blue and all my wonderful friends.

3. Sawyer: I would like to invite Noelle (Friends Fureverover for a feast.

4. Having the opportunity to live with so many cats throughout the last nearly 40 years was a blessing in disguise. (They have given us so much enjoyment, laughter and love.)

FISH, FELINES, FILL-INS, FRIENDSHIP & VETERANS DAY

I had to get the entire gang to help me this week with the fill-ins. We all used teal italics.

1. A veteran I would like to thank today is all of them, especially the animals.

2. Sawyer: I can’t go a day without treats.

3. Raleigh: Lisbeth’s fish bed is my most frequented napping locale.

4. Kitties Blue: This time of year, Mom is busy Christmas shopping and decorating.

Raleigh will be joining the Feline and Friendship Friday blog hops at Comedy Plus and Create With Joy respectively.

Veterans Day

Today we are remembering all the brave men, women and animals who have served our country and protected our freedoms, including my dad, Harvey Buickerood, and Dad Tom’s dad, Bud Blue.

Thanks for joining us today. We’ll see you again tomorrow for some Caturday Art.

RECOVERY MODE FOR SAWYER

Caturday Art

Sawyer spent all day Friday in recovery mode. In other words, sleeping. Thursday night before bed he curled up next to me and let me pet him bunches. He’s also been cleaning his plate at mealtimes. Then Dad Tom found evidence of a seizure. We believe it happened Thursday afternoon when we both had appointments. I hate when this happens, as Sawyer can and has hurt himself when having a seizure. Unfortunately, on occasion, both Dad Tom and I need to be away at the same time.

We are thankful Sawyer went 16 days without a seizure!

This photo was taken on Friday afternoon while Sawyer was snoozing in a sunpuddle. To create the art, I used the Caracol Marina 🐚 effect from Painnt and a frame from favpng.

Of course, I made a puzzle for you.

I got a little help with filling in this week from both Sawyer and Calista Jo. We all used teal italics for our fill-ins.

1. My list of things to do in November includes starting to put up Christmas decorations, finishing my Christmas shopping and working to add missing SEO to older posts.

2. Sawyer: A treat a day is never enough.

3. I never would have guessed that I’d be a cat mom with nine cats all at the same time or 22 cats overall.

4. Calista Jo: That I should be an only cat is an unpopular opinion that I have.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Time again to get your selfie snapped, so you’ll be ready to join us for tomorrow’s hop.

Kizmet will be here as your host with a special selfie she’s already taken. She and all her fursibs are really looking forward to seeing you. We promise you’ll have fun and maybe even make some new friends.

Have a terrific Caturday!
