FOUR’S A CROWD!

Feline Friday

Dad Tom and I rarely have enough room for the two of us in our king-sized bed once several of the Kitties Blue pile on! The four pictured below were not the only ones with us on that particular night. Calista Jo and Kizmet were also present!

Four of the Kitties Blue, a grey, Manx tabby, light ginger tabby, torbie and a tuxedo cat take over humans' bed and try to crowd them out.

Sawyer, Audrey, Raleigh and Misty May will be participating in the Feline Friday blog hop at messymimi’s meanderings. To do the same, click on the Feline Friday badge.

Friendly Fill-Ins

Time again to let you know a bit more about Kitties Blue and myself by completing the weekly fill-ins. Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs) host the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop. On Thursday they each select two sentences to be filled in by hop participants. You can find those on both blogs. Enter the hop by clicking on the graphic.

Whenever I am having trouble completing the fill-ins, I can always rely on Sawyer to step up. That’s exactly what happened this week. He completed numbers 1 through 3, and Stinky helped him out by completing number 4. Thanks boys!

They both used teal italics for their fill-ins. Any explanatory information is in parenthesis.

1. I was pleased to hear that Audrey and Raleigh are the last kitties our humans plan to adopt. (As you can see from the photo above, they are always invading my space.)

2. There should be a Manx Cat Appreciation Day. (Maybe I can get my mom to start one.)

3. I have a lot of confidence in my ability to get treats.

4. Planning fun adventures for Periwinkle and me is easier said than done.

Contest

Kitties Blue are having a little contest. One Wednesday, I posted a photo of six cats napping in the bedroom. The first person to identify the three cats missing from the photo on the post, “Six Bums on a Breezy Day,” will win a surprise prize. You have until tomorrow at noon EDT to leave your guess on that post. Good Luck!

Thanks for joining us today. We will return tomorrow with some special Earth Day Caturday Art.

A MAGICAL PLACE POEM & THANKFULS

Throughly Poetic Thursday

Time again to join our friends Teddy and Angel Sammy from Two Spoiled Cats for a bit of poetry. They provided us with an amazing inspiration photo this week. In fact, I would love to visit this gorgeous place. Based on our poem, it appears as if all nine Kitties Blue agree. This beautiful locale, however, is in New Zealand, so neither the Kitties Blue nor I will be able to check it out firsthand. But, all nine actually made it into the photo this week.

Nine cats at a sunken garden in New Zealand with grassy trails and floral plantings.

A Magical Place

What a magical place we have recently found.
It’s a wondrous and exciting cat playground.
The tranquility and beauty are mesmerizing.
About it we are unable to stop rhapsodizing.
The little, grassy trails are fun to explore.
What feline could ask for anything more?
Sawyer says the nommy treats are missing.
We told him no negativity or hissing.
Stinky wants to adventure here with Periwinkle.
We think that would make her eyes absolutely twinkle!
We want to stay here now and forever,
Breathing in the exotic aromas and fresh air,
But mom says then it would lose its appeal
And no longer be such a big deal.
But we all must disagree with her.
It makes us purr and will always hold its allure.

If you’d like to try writing some poetry, check out Two Spoiled Cats (by clicking on the poetry badge) for next week’s inspiration photo. Please read Angel Sammy’s poem when you visit. He sends it to Teddy each week from the Rainbow Bridge, and his poems are always excellent.

Thankful Thursday

On Thursday, we also like to share our thankfuls with you and join Brian’s blog hop.

😺 Last Friday Dad Tom and I went to Charlottesville and met up with one of our nephews from California and his eldest daughter. She will be attending the University of Virginia as a Freshman in the fall and was touring the campus. We are thankful and excited that she will only be two hours from us, giving us the opportunity to see her with some regularity.

😺 I am thankful I was able to scrub our porch furniture, the porch railings and window sills and some of the floor yesterday. While I did that Dad Tom pressure washed our brick walk. With the new chair and settee cushions and pillows I bought, our porch is going to look great this summer.

😺 I am thankful that a bunny was visiting in our side yard yesterday. We also saw two in the alley when we returned home Friday night. I have also been seeing the chipmunks regularly. Being able to observe these little critters makes me very happy. I am just waiting for the hummingbirds to reappear!

😺 Finally, Kitties Blue and I are thankful to everyone who joined our Sunday Selfies blog hop as well as everybody who follows, reads and comments on our posts. But, most of all, we are thankful for your friendship.

If you’d like to join the hop, click on Brian’s badge.

ART FROM SUPERHERO SIDEKICK KIZMET

Caturday Art

Today’s art features Kizmet.

SUPERHERO SIDEKICK KIZMET

I used my favorite, tried and true app, Paint, to create this. The effect is “It’s Really Just Art After All” with the hard light filter. As usual the frame is from favpng

I made a puzzle for you as well.

Kizmet is participating in the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. You can do the same by clicking on her badge.

Superhero Sidekicks Calendar

The original photo from which I created today’s art may be the one Helen Woodward Animal Center uses in the 2022 Superhero Sidekicks Calendar. As we were unable to travel to California for a photo session, Dad Tom took a couple of photos for HWAC. At this point, we have no idea which photo was selected for the calendar. We also don’t know which month she will represent

What we do know is that you can pre-order your calendar now by clicking on the graphic below. The Calendar is $18 with a shipping fee of $5. All profits benefit HWAC.

Once again, Kizmet, Dad Tom and I want to thank everyone who made a donation to HWAC and voted for Kizmet in the contest. Here’s the link to the post where I announced her eighth place finish, “We Couldn’t Have Had a More Thankful Week.”

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Can you believe we are winding down to the conclusion of another year of sharing our selfies on Sunday? I don’t know where the year has gone, but it will soon be no more than a memory. So, it’s time to pop in front of that cell phone or camera and snap your very own selfie. As Thanksgiving is just a few days away, dress it up with a fall or Thanksgiving theme if you would like. I am not certain which of the Kitties Blue will be your host tomorrow, but I am fairly certain there will be some bribery (treats) involved in securing their selfie.

Until then have a terrific Caturday.

THANKFUL TO BE BAD TO THE BONE

Thankful Thursday

Thursday is the day we set aside to list the things for which we are thankful.

Sawyer is first up with his thankful today. Though he was less than keen on having his photo taken, he does want to show off his statue and chirpy bird prize from winning the Bad to the Bone category in the 2021 Golden AssRabbit Award contest.

bad to the bone

Sawyer also was honored with this magazine cover, for which we want to thank Rabbit’s clever and creative mom, Kim. If you don’t follow her blog, It’s a Wonderpurr Life, you are missing out on lots of fun.

Bad to the Bone

Though Dad Tom and I were not pleased with Sawyer’s unauthorized “adventure,” we are proud of him for his win. Cooper Murphy, however, is jealous and already working overtime on his badness, so he can enter next year’s contest.

I am thankful my hand is healing after Cooper’s unintentional (?) maiming.

And, as always, Kitties Blue and I are thankful for your friendship and support.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by everyone’s pal, Brian. Please say some extra prayers for Brian today, as he is undergoing an endoscopic biopsy in an attempt to determine if he is suffering from IBD or lymphoma. And please continue to send POTP while he and his family wait the for the test results.

If you’d like to join the hop, post on your blog for what you are thankful, and then click on Brian’s badge to link up.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Of course, Thursday also is the day for the Two Spoiled Cats, Angel Sammy and Teddy’s, poetry challenge. This week’s inspiration photo is particularly amusing, and I hope you find my poem equally amusing.

Don’t Forget Your Underwear

Kilts and wind do not make a good team,
Especially if your undies aren’t pristine.
And if you’re leaving home without underwear,
You best check the weather and take care
To avoid a chance of encountering a breeze,
Passersby seeing your bum won’t be pleased.
So if you’ve a kilt hanging in your closet,
Best stay out the wind to avoid any gossip.

If you’d like to take part in next week’s poetry challenge, click on the badge below. You will find next week’s inspiration photo as well as Angel Sammy’s poem for this week. He is a terrific wordsmith, so you don’t want to miss reading it.

Thanks for visiting. We look forward to seeing you again tomorrow.

GRUMPY, BAD TO THE BONE SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #366

grumpy

I may not be the famous Grumpy Cat, but I am the infamous grumpy cat, especially after my walkabout. You can see by this kitten photo that I’ve always had a grumpy face.

grumpyI don’t know how many of you are familiar with Jeff Dunham and his “dummy” Walter, but that’s who my mom and dad think I look like in my baby photos. I do look a little less grumpy as an adult.

Anyhoo, I am here today so I can announce: I did not win the Golden AssRabbit Award for 2021. I am proud to announce, however, that I was the winner in the “Bad to the Bone” category.

This is what AssRabbit (Hermes) had to say about me and my win: “Sawyer’s three-and-a-half-week disappearing act raised concern and blood pressure for so many voters on both Instagram and Twitter and in the blogging world. He was pretty famous for being in the dog house already when he went on his walkabout. Sawyer had some pretty tough competition from others in his category, but when the final votes were tallied, he was the clear winner.”

If you missed my entry to the Golden AssRabbit Contest, you can read it at “Good, Bad or Thoughtless.”

As a winner I will receive a Golden AssRabbit statue, a special kitty toy and an Award Certificate. When I receive my awards, I will share photos here.

Hopping Time

It’s your turn now to share your selfie with us as well as all your friends and admirers. My fursibs and I know none of you will be grumpy, as most of you enjoy taking selfies. And as soon as your done and have joined the hop, you’ll have the entire day to enjoy your easy. Your participation, support and friendship are so important to all us Kitties Blue and our humans. Thank you.

Purrs and paw-pats, Grumpy, Bad to the Bone Sawyer

GOOD, BAD OR THOUGHTLESS

1st Annual Golden AssRabbit Awards

Mom has let me have the blog today, so we have no Sparks for you. Instead, I am sharing my entry in Hermes LuxuryCat’s  Golden AssRabbit Awards.

Hermes’ mom asked him what he wanted for his fourth birthday, and he told her he wanted to host a contest to celebrate his “furends” caught being naughty. So, this is my entry in the contest.

Am I Really Bad?

I am not really a bad cat. I would say that I am inconsiderate and thoughtless. I am not even certain my humans would call be bad. They would probably go with naughty, and definitely naughty enough to earn me the nickname of “shit head.”

It all started when I decided to take a little walkabout around the neighborhood. When I turned around and looked at Mom with an expression that screamed, “neener, neener,” and then went poof and disappeared, I should have suspected right away that I would be in trouble. But wanderlust had taken hold, and I was off on an epic adventure.

That epic adventure lasted three-and-a-half weeks, but I had no idea. I can tell time. I know exactly when to show up for my meals and treats, but the passage of time is pretty much beyond my comprehension. I discovered that I have a really terrible sense of direction as well. I had wandered a mile away in the opposite direction from where I had started.

I do know I got darn hungry and when someone started putting treats and stinky goodness along the sidewalk near the house where I had been spotted, I couldn’t help myself. It took a couple of hours, but finally I started to sneak out of the shadows, have a few nibbles then hide again. Eventually I saw who had placed the bowls as she kept moving them closer to where she was waiting. When I realized it was my mom, I started letting her get a bit closer each time before I would run off again. Finally I let her sit down right next to me. She talked to me and let me smell her fingers. But, I did not jump into her arms or lap or make any move to let her know I was happy to see her.

After a long chat by her, she grabbed me. It was then I realized she wasn’t just bringing me food so I could continue my adventure. She was catnapping me. I guess that is when I turned from naughty to BAD! I hollered and growled and snarled and hissed. I bit her over and over again until she got my head wrapped up in her t-shirt. I clawed her and scratched her until her clothes were covered in blood, but she didn’t let go.

I was so mad, especially when she got to the car, wrapped me up in a towel and stuffed me in the PTU. I was certain I would suffocate, and I made her worry. I never make a peep when I am in a PTU on the way to and from the vet. And I didn’t make a peep on the way home. She even jostled the PTU to see if I would move. I did. I shouldn’t have.

The amazing  thing occurred when I got home: I didn’t get any punishment anymore than I had been by that rough capture and transport. I did have to start taking my meds again. I also was sequestered in the bathroom and then in our large, portable, pop-up enclosure until I could see the vet. I got lots and lots of stinky goodness and treats, as I did lose a lot of weight.

Though I was the one who was naughty, I have forgiven my mom for her grabby hands. Before my adventure, I slept next to my dad 90 percent of the time. Now I am sleeping glued to my mom’s side. And I am letting her give me the kisses on my head that she likes. I guess I am finally glad to be home…the catio, four squares a day, treats, toys and companionship are pretty nice.

I can’t say I won’t be bad, naughty, thoughtless or inconsiderate anytime in the future. I am a cat after all.

So that’s my story. What do you think? Am I a bat cat? If you think so, you can vote for me. Voting begins today at 9 a.m.and continues through Wednesday, August 18. It will close that day at 6 p.m. ET. Click here to vote for me or any of the other entrants.

Awww Mondays

If you think cats do not belong on the kitchen counters, that’s one more reason to vote for me in the Golden AssRabbit Awards. I dare you not to! I think you can tell from my expression how serious I am.

This is my entry in the Awww Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus. If you’d like to hop along click on the badge below.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow is my favorite day of the week, as that is when Periwinkle and my alter ego, Stinky, share an adventure. We will be taking off from here tomorrow at The Cat on My Head for this week’s adventures, which promises to be oodles of fun. Periwinkle and I really, really hope you will join us.

Purrs and paw-pats, Sawyer

I’M READY FOR MY CLOSE-UP

Feline/Friendship Friday

close-up

I have no idea why Mom decided it would be cute to add that dorky flamingo graphic to my purrfectly-posed photo. It’s Feline Friday…not Flamingo Friday. There are more than enough of those pink, feathery interlopers on the wrapping paper.

Oh yeah, I guess I should tell you about what I’m lying atop. It is Sawyer’s birthday gift from Noelle. From the moment it arrived, Mom had to hide it, as I kept trying to open it. I overheard Mom Sharon tell my mom that if Sawyer didn’t come home I could have his present. So, I was trying to stake my claim, just in case.

Anyhoo, I asked Mom if I could post today and remind you for one last time that I am competing in the Helen Woodward Animal Center Superhero Sidekicks Calendar Contest. Currently I am in third place, which does guarantee me a spot in the calendar. Voting ends on August 2 at 5 p.m. PT. I don’t expect to make it back into first place, but if you have five bucks and want to make a tax-deductible donation to a great organization, click on the graphic below to vote for me.

So, I am going to enter both the Feline Friday (Comedy Plus) and the Friendship Friday (Create With Joy) blog hops. You can join me by clicking on the badge(s) below.

Purrs and paw-pats, Kizmet

NOTHING’S IMPOSSIBLE…OR MAYBE IT IS

Sparks

Our Spark today is from actress, Audrey Hepburn, and it is a simple one. I do believe it is true; though, Astrid disagrees with me. She is presenting today’s Spark, or rather her paw is.

Sparks

If you missed Saturday’s Caturday Art post, you didn’t have the opportunity to enter our contest to identify which of the Kitties Blue paws was turned into art. And none of those who did guess selected the correct kitty.

That’s right…that precious paw belongs to none other than Astrid. You may not have noticed that Astrid’s back left paw is mostly buff colored. If you doubt her, here’s Astrid showing off that paw in one of her advanced yoga poses.

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie has been taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. Unfortunately, during this break, Annie has been the victim of a hacker. This has continued to keep her off-line and caused her much distress. Kitties Blue and I ask for your continued prayers for Annie and her family as they try to reconcile this mess and get their lives back to normal.

Many of us believe in Annie’s vision: “If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

Contest Winners

Fourteen readers tried to figure out the paw’s owner. As no one guessed correctly, I put numbers one through 14 into a random sequence generator, and the number selected was 11. The eleventh guess was made by Scylla, Fenris, Tuiren, YinYang & Chimera from ATCAD (Alasandra, The Cats and Dogs). For the record, they guessed Lisbeth to be the owner of the paw. They will be receiving a prize package from me and Kitties Blue.

Awww Mondays

Astrid is heading over to Comedy Plus to join today’s blog hop. To join her, click on the badge below.

PHOTOBOMBED SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #242

Sunday Selfies - Mau and Cooper Murphy

I tried to convince Cooper Murphy to remove himself from my blanket, which was a gift from Allie, as well as my side before I snapped my selfie. As you can see, I was not successful. And that’s the explanation for my expression. I’ve got absolutely nothing else to say today, which in itself is probably a first for me.

So here’s that hopping stuff Mom makes us post every week.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • Posting on Sundays is not necessary to join.
  • You do not need to be a cat to enter. All anipals are welcome regardless of species.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.
  • Take the opportunity to visit some of the other hop-alongs and make some new friends or reconnect with some old ones.

Thanks for hopping over to see us. If you are new to our hop, WELCOME!

Purrs and paw-pats, Mau with kisses and love to my gorgeous wife Allie

Yesterday’s Paw Guessing Game

So our art for Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop is the paw of one of the Kitties Blue. I said I would have a surprise for the human and anipal who correctly guessed to which cat the paw belongs. Well, we only had a pawful of visitors yesterday, and no one guessed correctly. If you want to pop back to yesterday’s post, the link is at the bottom of this post. If no one figures out who belongs to that paw, I’ll have a random drawing for a prize. We’ll let you know the winner tomorrow.

PAWS UP ART

Caturday Art

I was feeling nostalgic and spent some time last night looking through old photos of current and past kitties. Many I remembered, and some I did not. The photo I used for today’s art is from 2014 and is one I didn’t recall.

paws

I think it is evident that this is a cat paw but to which cat does it belong? That cat has agreed to send a surprise prize to the person/anipal who is the first to guess correctly. Leave your guess in the comments, and we’ll announce the winner on the Sunday Selfies post.

To create today’s art I went back to Painnt and used the Monash effect. In the basic edits, I changed the hue of the effect and set the transparency at 0.6. With piZap, I added the white border with an overlay. Picasa was used for the thin, green border. I am not showing the original photo, as it will give away the paw’s owner.

The cat who owns this paw is joining Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. To join or view the art of other bloggers, click on Athena’s badge.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Get ready to smile and show off your best self, as tomorrow is the time to hop along with us for Sunday Selfies. Your host is yet to be determined, but you can bet s/he will be ready to welcome you with open paws—maybe even that paw from above.

Until then…have a terrific Caturday.
