WRONG PLACE RIGHT TIME

Sunday Selfies: Week #185

Misty May Sunday Selfie

Misty May, being Misty May, had a lot to say about having to do the selfie this week. She tried to hide among and under the newspaper to escape the inevitable, but both Dad Tom and I saw her. Tom shoved his phone at her, and she actually got a good photo of herself. She usually refuses to look anywhere near the screen.

Her complaint is that Lisbeth was naughty this week and so should have had to take the selfie. Sawyer was bad last week and had to do the selfie, so I see her point. But sometimes it just comes down to being in the right wrong place at the right time.

I’m feeling a bit under the weather so this is going to be a short post. Kitties Blue are looking forward to seeing all your selfies. Here are some hop tips for those who are new to Sunday Selfies.

Hopping

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • Posting on Sundays is not necessary to join.
  • You do not need to be a cat to enter. All anipals are welcome regardless of species.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.

Thanks for joining us today.

MAU HELPS WITH FRIENDLY FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #91

Friendly Fill-Ins badgeEach Friday we join our friends, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader) and Ellen (15 And Meowing) for their Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop. They each select two sentences for us to complete. I usually fill-in the sentences but this week Mau and the entire gang of Kitties Blue helped with the task. All of us used teal italics for our completions.

If you’d like to participate in Friendly Fill-Ins, Annie and Ellen post them on their websites each Thursday. To join the blog hop, which takes place at McGuffy’s Reader on Fridays, click on the Friendly Fill-Ins badge.

1. Trust must be earned. We have an inside joke at our house: If someone says, “Trust me,” it is a pretty good sign you shouldn’t.

2. Kitties Blue: I We would protest if Mom and Dad brought in another cat to live with us. Eight IS enough!

3. Mau: I have been in love with Allie since our first date. On November 5, 2013, I asked her to be my girlfriend. I asked her to marry me on April 29, 2016. It was on her birthday. We married on July 23, 2016, in a beautiful ceremony at Cat Scouts.

4. Right now, I am praying that once Cooper Murphy is done with treatment, we have seen the end of the eye “icks,” and that Misty May’s eye ulcer will be improved or gone when she goes to see Dr. Neel this afternoon.

We’ll see you again tomorrow with some Caturday Art.

SAWYER’S ZOOMIES

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

It was a dark and story night… No! That’s how I had intended to start this week’s poem after I saw the prompt photo.

zoomies

Light may be coming through the window, but this place made me think of a haunted castle and a scary ghost cat. Some other member of the household, however, had other thoughts and commandeered the computer. Here’s that kitty’s poem.

Zoomies

I like to zoom all through the house,
Chasing my brother or sometimes a mouse.
I sprint up the stairs as fast as I can
Then scurry on down again and again.
Stairs are a toy and a kitten’s best friend
Provided I don’t slip and fall in the end.
When tired I can rest quietly on a tread
Hoping to trip a human lost in their head.
They may say words not fit for young ears.
If that happens, I must quickly disappear.
If not, I may find myself put in timeout
Where I can do nothing but hiss and pout,
Until I’m released to start over again.
Because as a kitten it is not a sin
To play, run and zoom until I am pooped
And can curl up with my big brother, Coop.
For a warm, cozy snuggle until dinnertime
After which the stairs I will once again climb.
This time to bed for a night’s soothing rest,
So once again my humans’ patience I’ll test
As I resume my antics the very next day,
Turning stairs into my very own speedway.
When you’re a kitten nothing’s impossible
As my humans always will think I’m adorable.
And if I’m lucky, I’ll get some nommy treats
Even when I stealthily dive ‘neath their feet.
But I must remember never to hurt them too badly
As for me this only can end quite sadly.
If they are stuck in the hospital healing,
I’ll be left home alone with only hurt feelings.
So though I may think stair zooming’s a game,
I promise my humans, them I will never maim.

So it seems that the newest member of the furmily thought he deserved to be part of three consecutive posts. I’m hoping his fursibs don’t gang up on him for being such a blog hog. Though, he’s one tough kitten and can take care of himself.

We’ll be joining Teddy and angel Sammy for poetry day. If you’d like to read Sammy’s poem…maybe something to do with a stairway to heaven. We’re just guessing at that. Anyhoo…to read his poem and find links to those of others, click on the badge below.

Thankful Thursday

Each week we join the blog hop over and Brian’s Home and let everyone know something for which we are thankful. That hasn’t been an easy task the past few weeks. We are grateful today that no other kitty has come down with the eye “icks.” Both Misty May and Cooper Murphy are still being treated and improving.

To join Brian’s Hop, click on his badge.

See you tomorrow for the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop.

SAWYER’S DISCOVERY

Doozy of a Snoozy

Like every Kitties Blue cat before him, Sawyer has discovered the antique dough bowl. For whatever reason this is a favorite snoozing, bathing, looking out the window spot and has been featured in previous posts. We gave up years ago trying to reclaim the bowl for use by Dad Tom, the bread baker. And for a very long time we have been adding something comfy to snooze upon.

Sawyer takes over cat (dough) bowl.

Kitties who have outgrown the dough/cat bowl continue to stuff themselves in for a nap. It even has been occupied my Mauricio and Astrid together…now that was a bowlful. As you can see, Sawyer has not reached the point where he is overflowing. But he has definitely spread out atop of one of Mom Ellen’s (15 And Meowing) cat mats.

To see original cat, Skooter, as well as some others in the bowl, click here to go to the 2012 post, “The Cat Bowl.”

Cooper Murphy/Misty May Update

Under protest, Cooper Murphy had another visit with Dr. Neel yesterday. He does have a fever; though, not as high as the 105 he had on January 5. It was 103 this time. The conjunctiva in both eyes are infected this time. Staining showed no additional problems. He’s also sneezing this time. He got another anti-inflammatory injection and will be on oral meds and the teramyacin eye ointment again for another ten days.

We also discovered that the little giant stinker was playing fast and loose with the scale last time. He weighed in today at 18 1/2 pounds. That’s two more than his last visit and more what we expected then.

Misty May’s eye is greatly improved. She will remain on the ointment until she returns on Friday for a recheck of the ulcer.

Thanks for all the purrs, prayers and POTP you have been sending. With any luck, this will be the final chapter for the eye “icks.”

LATEST VICTIM OF EYE “ICKS” SPEAKS OUT

Kitties Blue Health Update

It was my turn to be stuffed in a SleepyPod and hauled off to the vet on Wednesday. Yep, I got the eye “icks” too! I made the humans aware of my displeasure all the way there and most of the way back with loud protestations and tinkling in the SleepyPod.

The humans are getting better at recognizing this persistent and spreading infection. I had no fever and did not require an injection or any oral meds. But I am getting that goopy eye ointment. I have an ulcer on my eye as well. No one else has one of those. I knew I was special! It will probably take longer to heal than the infection will take to clear up, and I have to go back to the vet for a re-check. Again, special me! None of the others got to do that. Though we were told scar tissue may form, it should not occlude my vision.

Mau has two more days of meds and eye ointment, and his eye is looking good. We just need a few more purrs and prayers asking that I am the end of the line for this infection.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #90

Now that I am done with the health update, I am going to do the fill-ins. It is my compensation for being maligned so badly in the post, “Mini Rant on Tuxie Tuesday.” My fursibs were unkind, and they hurt my feelings. If Mom and Dad think the new collar with cute pandas is remuneration enough for that post as well as the trip to the vet, they are delusional.

My completions are in teal italics.

1. The flu shot is something Dad and Mom get every year. It hasn’t stopped them from getting the flu every year, but Mom can only remember a couple of times getting it in the last 35+ years. We kitties are wishing some type of vaccine existed to keep us from passing around the icky eyes.

Misty May protests her trip to the vet.

2. I think everyone should take time to nap daily.

3. I (almost) always sleep on Mom’s pillow, because I can!

4. I (almost) never am nice to Astrid, because it is so easy to assert my authority over her and make her scream.

Friendly Fill-Ins is a weekly blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). They each provide two incomplete sentences to be filled in by participants. You can find the sentences on their blogs every Thursday. To participate in the blog hop, click on the Fill-Ins badge. You will be taken to Annie’s blog to enter your link.

MINI RANT ON TUXIE TUESDAY

Tuxie Tuesday Doozy of a Snoozy

Since Sawyer came to live with us and Lily Olivia got her wings, the dynamic around our house is totally different. We are all a bit confused as to our roles. Misty May is trying to assert herself and take over Lily Olivia’s position as Commander of Everything and Everyone. Unlike Lily, however, she is needy, as opposed to demanding. The humans consider needy to be an annoying trait, and the remainder of us must agree. This isn’t to say that most of us don’t love Misty May. We just don’t think she is leadership material. After all, she is a bully. We understand many powerful people are bullies, but that will not be tolerated in our coterie of cats.

Misty May has been doing her best to curry favor with some of us to gain our support, especially the other tuxie female in the house, Lisbeth.

Tuxie Tuesday

As you can see, she has taken Lisbeth under her wing paw, even when they are sleeping. We suggest that Lisbeth not get too cozy. We know this camaraderie will not last if Misty May takes over as Top Cat.

Misty May and Mau are the oldest of this rag-tag bunch, so one of them probably is next in line for the job. We suspect mild-mannered Mau will garner most of the votes. He is a good candidate, as he has learned many important rules with regard to leadership as an Order of the Arrowhead, Sabertooth Cat Scout.

Misty May is not suited to ascend to the throne (Mom’s lap) as she refuses to sit quietly in contemplation—a most important trait for all of those in power. Mau can get awfully wordy at times, but he does recognize the importance of a regal bearing while on the throne. MOUSES! Did we really say that?

The new hierarchy definitely has not been decided, and we suspect we can look forward—NOT—to a long campaign season. In the meantime most of us are keeping a low profile, except for Sawyer. He can’t help himself. He’s just a kitten and only understands three things—eat, sleep and play.

We’ll keep you posted as to how this all shakes out.

Speaking of Lily Olivia

We want to share with you the Angel vSquillion Lily Olivia we adopted. She joins the ranks of all the other Kitties Blue angels (except cat #1, Skooter) on our vSquillion page. If you’d like to visit, click on the The Felines tab at the top of the page and then the vSquillion dropdown.

Thanks for joining us today. We’ll see you tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday.

KITTIES BLUE SAVE CHRISTMAS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Today we begin a new challenge for Angel Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday at Two Spoiled Cats. After three rounds of using prompts from the alphabet, we now are challenged to write a poem inspired by a photo posted by Sammy and Teddy’s mom, Pam.

This is the photo Mom Pam posted last Thursday. It is followed by our poem.

Kitties Blue Save Christmas

The Day Kitties Blue Saved Christmas

As the nine of us hunkered down to wait for Santa,
the sky grew cloudy; we watched a huge storm brewing.
It was massive with turbulent mammatus clouds, and we
worried that Santa’s RPS* would not be working.
When a bolt of lightening caused our lights to flicker
all we could do was cross our paws, purr and pray
that Santa and his reindeer would come through okay.
We were certain he had faced similar conditions
in the four centuries he’d been delivering presents,
but still we feared for the reindeers’ and Santa’s safety.
We paced the floor, wondering how we could help when
the youngest of us, Sawyer, cleared his throat and meowed, “I
bet, if we turn on our lasers, we could guide him through.”
We were amazed the whippersnapper knew just what to do.
It’s his first Christmas, and we didn’t know he was a
smartypants. First we contacted all our fursibs at the
Rainbow Bridge: Skooter, Steamer, Daphne, Thelma, Louise,
Twinkle, Chloe, Madison, MacKenzie and Fiona
and had them gather. Together, they set their halos
to high and shone the light toward earth. Then we all grabbed
our antlers, turned on our high beams and directed our eyes
toward heaven. The dazzling glow caught Santa’s attention,
and he knew just where to fly, directing his reindeer
through the dense clouds and down to earth from the sky.
As he put gifts in our stockings, we asked our friends to do
the same, and that’s how Santa delivered gifts to all in 2017.

MISTY MAY SHOWS OFF WITH THREE SELFIES

Sunday Selfies: Week #170

I don’t join you very often for Sunday Selfies or on any other post for that matter. When it came time for selfies, however, I was the only one hanging out near Mom, so here I am! I took three selfies and none are very good.

Mom thinks I look cute in the center one with my mouth open. What do you think? I was telling her two selfies were enough. You can tell by my ears in number three that I did not want to take another. Wow, that’s a super grumpy expression on my face as well. I’d say, “That should teach her for pushing me for one more shot,” but she’ll never learn!

Misty May shares three selfies.

That’s it for me. You know I am a kitty of few words. What have you got to share with us today? Bet it’s better than what I did.

If you are new to hopping, here are a few tips to help you with entering our hop.

With purrs and paw-pats, Misty May

ANYBODY WANT TO SNUGGLE?

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

It was time last night to pull out our rhyming dictionary once again and see what we could come up with for this week’s poem. We had four prompt words to select from, and this week we actually used one of them. This week’s prompt letter is “S.” The words are 1) Sunny, 2) Shrimp, 3) Shoe and 4) Snuggle.

Here’s our poem.

Anybody Want to Snuggle?

When it’s time for a warm snuggle,
We don’t want to have a struggle
To get ourselves some prime real estate.
Where we can curl up and ruminate—
And maybe get a few good scritches
To ease any annoying itches.
We want to snuggle up really close
To a human who can be our host
For an evening of dreamy pleasure
And maybe a treat for good measure.
But another cat will due in a pinch,
As long as they don’t try to inch
Into a space we’ve claimed as our own.
Mom doesn’t want to hear us hiss or moan.
But if a human becomes available,
We find their snuggles more enjoyable.
So, please excuse us, we must say, “so long.”
Next to our humans is where we belong.

Misty May and Calista Jo snuggle with Mom and each other.

We know you cannot tell from this photo but Misty May and Calista Jo are not only snuggling with each other but with our mom as well. Sometimes to get Mom and Dad snuggles, we have to share.

We are purrticipating in Teddy and Angel Sammy’s poetry day at Two Spoiled Cats, as we do each week. We encourage you to write a poem and join in the fun. Next week’s prompt letter will be “T.” You can find the prompt words on their blog as well as links to other poems by clicking on the their badge.

Thankful Thursday

We bet you can guess what Kitties Blue are thankful for this week. That’s right…snuggles. As the temperatures go down, the competition to snuggle with a human will become fierce. That’s when more kitty-kitty snuggling will become necessary. Until then, it is every cat for him or herself.

This is a blog hop hosted each week by our friend, Brian. To join in, click on his badge below.

Tocktober

Tomorrow is a big day in the blogosphere. It’s the day we all show off our “tocks.” We know many of you have been “showing-off” all month, but we have been keeping our tocks under wraps until tomorrow. No hints on which of us will be purrticipating. You’ll just have to drop by to see. Until then…

REMEMBERING ANGEL ZOE & SUNDAY SELFIES

Remembering Zoe

Before we get to our Sunday Selfies blog hop, we are honoring the beautiful, new angel panfur, Zoe from Animal Shelter Volunteer Life. Zoe went to the Rainbow Bridge unexpectedly on September 14, leaving her humans, Kevin (meowmeowmans) and Tacey, and sisfur Gracie heartbroken. You may not know Zoe. She, Gracie and Angel Moosey usually appeared on their blog on holidays only. They participated in Sunday Selfies very seldom. Dad Kevin uses their blog mostly to promote kitties available for adoption from PAWS Connecticut. He is a faithful supporter of our blog hop.

Remembering Zoe from Animal Shelter Volunteer Life.

To read all about beautiful Zoe, visit Animal Shelter Volunteer Life’s September 15 post. If you have not left you condolences, please leave some comforting words for Kevin, Tracey and Gracie.

Sunday Selfies: Week #163

We have a very rare appearance today from Misty May. She actually showed up this afternoon and volunteered to take a selfie. And she was one and done. We must admit it came out great.

Misty May is remembering Zoe.

This is our Sunday Selfies blog hop, and we look forward to your participation. If you have been taking a break from submitting a selfie, we hope you’ll consider rejoining the fun. All anipals are welcome, so please invite your friends to join us. Here are some tips for joining. If you are regular participants, you can skip over this.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • You do not need to post on Sundays to join.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.
