BELATED HUG YOUR CAT DAY & FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #211

Our hosts, Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs) and Ellen (15 And Meowing) provided some interesting sentences to be filled in this week. In fact, Kitties Blue asked if they could help. I already had completed all the sentences when the request was made, so I allowed them to pick which sentences they wanted to fill-in and included their responses as well.

My fill-ins are in teal italics, and theirs are appropriately in blue.

1. Getting cats to do what you want is like trying to nail jello to a wall.

1. Kitties Blue: Getting humans to do what you want is like trying to nail jello to a wall.

2. I’ll never stop worrying about Sawyer.

2. Sawyer: I’ll never tire of asking for and eating as many treats as I can convince our humans to give me.

3. If I had a dollar for every time our President made a fool of himself, I would be rich.

4. I wish common sense grew on trees.

4. Sawyer: I wish Temptations grew on tress.

Friendly Fill-Ins is a fun way to learn more about other bloggers and their four-legged (in most cases) friends. If you would like to participate, the sentences to be filled in can be found on both Ellen and Lorianne’s blogs on Thursday. After completing and posting, you can click on the badge above to go to Ellen’s blog and enter the link to your post.

Feline Friday – Hug Your Cat Day

Yeah, we all know we’re a day late for Hug Your Cat Day, but the braindead member of this group forgot yesterday. So, we thought including it as our entry in the Feline Friday blog hop at Comedy Plus would be a great idea. To clarify, most of us are not fond of hugs. However, Misty May continually craves and begs for attention from her dad, and she thinks hugs are just fine.

LOVE, POWER, PEACE & TOE BEANS

Sparks

Just when we thought things in our world couldn’t get any worse, riots have joined the coronavirus as a threat to our resuming our lives as they were at the conclusion of 2019. If the cases of COVID-19 do not escalate drastically as a result of huge numbers of protestors gathering, I will be surprised.

Our current situation is what prompted the Spark I selected for today. I pray we all can find that Power of Love sooner than later.

The author of today’s Spark, William Ewart Gladstone, (1809 – 1898) was a British statesman and Liberal politician. In a career lasting over 60 years, he served for 12 years as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, spread over four terms beginning in 1868 and ending in 1894. He also served as Chancellor of the Exchequer four times.

This photo is one of Dad Tom’s. It was taken last October at Gorges State Park in North Carolina.

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie is taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. Many of us still continue to post a Spark on Monday, as we believe in Annie’s vision: “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

Misty May is showing off her toe beans today, and she does accept kisses. She’s also joining the Awww Mondays blog hop at ComedyPlus.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

This fun-loving, tabby duo will return tomorrow with the next installment in their adventure series. It is Periwinkle’s week to post, so look for them over at Friends Furever. I know both Periwinkle and Stinky will be looking forward to seeing you there tomorrow.

And come back here Thursday when we post the things for which we are thankful. We have some very exciting news involving these two cuties.

FRIDAY BLOG HOPS & MISTY MAY’S FORT

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #208

Time to do some filling in for the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). Kitties Blue passed off all four fill-ins to me this week. I have used teal italics for my completions.

To participate in the hop, click on the badge at the left.

1. I say a prayer for Sawyer every night and a bunch of other kitties and friends.

2. One nice thing about staying home is having the opportunity to work in the garden, read more and cuddle with Kitties Blue.

3. Sunshine instantly makes my day better.

4. When someone disagrees with me, I respect their opinion and try not to start an argument.

Feline & Friendship Friday

I built Misty May a fort while she was sleeping. She never woke up and was still sleeping when I dismantled it. She is joining both the Feline Friday (Comedy Plus) and Friendship Friday (Create with Joy) blog hops.

QUARTET OF CATS & FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #203

If it wasn’t for blogging, I would never know the day of the week. Being retired, I have had a problem with that for several years now. But being on house arrest has truly exacerbated the problem. When it is time for fill-ins, however, I know it is Friday.

Our hosts, Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs) provide two sentences each for participants to complete. The purpose is to get to know your fellow bloggers. The sentences to be filled in are on both blogs each Thursday.

This is a blog hop. To join, click on the badge at left. You will be whisked away to Four-Legged Furballs where you can enter your link.

As always, I have used teal italics for my fill-ins.

1. I am never going to regret starting The Cat on My Head, as I have made so many terrific friends.

2. For Easter this year, I will be at home with Dad Tom and Kitties Blue.

3. I would want the Easter Bunny to leave me a basket filled with dark chocolate, especially dark chocolate, peanut M&Ms and See’s candy.

4. When times get tough, I eat chocolate, pet the cats and try to find something to laugh about.

A SPRINGTIME PROFILE SELFIE FROM MISTY MAY

Sunday Selfies: Week #295

I was not being very cooperative when it came to taking my selfie today. So, you only are getting a profile. That’s why I asked my Mom to fancy up my photo a bit. And she did it, ’cause she owed me after that unflattering post she wrote about me. If you missed it, here’s the link: “Defining Mistymayphony.” I would never have given you that link but Mom is typing this for me, which means I am at her mercy. Phooey!

Sunday Selfies

Anyhoo, I am hoping a certain man cat will stop by and say, “hello,” as long as he doesn’t click on that link.

Hopping Time

Well, I am certain that all of you have taken much better selfies than mine, so please enter the hop and show off your adorable selves. Once you get that done, you’ll have the remainder of the day for your easy and to entertain your shut-in humans. All the other Kitties Blue, me and our mom and dad are praying everyone is staying safe and healthy. We couldn’t bear to lose any of you to this nasty virus.

Purrs and paw-pats, Misty May (with kisses for that certain man cat)

DEFINIING MISTYMAYPHONY

Wordless Wednesday

April Fools!

This post is chockfull of words.

First I have some definitions to share.

caterwaul:

| ˈkadərˌwôl | verb [no object] (often as noun caterwauling) (of a cat) make a shrill howling or wailing noise: the caterwauling of a pair of bobcats | (as adjective caterwauling) figurative: a caterwauling guitar. noun a shrill howling or wailing noise. ORIGIN late Middle English: from cat1 + imitative waul.

cacophony:

 | kəˈkäfənē | noun (plural cacophonies) a harsh discordant mixture of sounds: a cacophony of deafening alarm bells | figurative : a cacophony of architectural styles | songs of unrelieved cacophony. ORIGIN mid 17th century: from French cacophonie, from Greek kakophōnia, from kakophōnos ill-sounding, from kakos bad + phōnē sound.

mistymayphony:

|ˈmistē mā fənē | noun – a full-throated, deafening wail interspersed with warbling and howling: the sound a cat makes in the car when being taken to the vet. This sound is mind-numbing and worse than fingernails on a chalkboard or whatever noise makes your skin crawl. This sound is comparable to a sustained song from a deaf, out-of-tune opera singer whose tremulous voice can reach the last row of the second balcony without a microphone. ORIGIN: 21st century: from English (American).

Unfortunately, since losing her hearing,  itty-bitty Misty May makes this sound all the time.  It is particularly discordant and the most unpleasant at mealtime. If Misty May could hear herself, she would put her paws in her ears, cover those with earmuffs and a ski hat. And for good measure add some noise-canceling earphones.

With a stay-at-home order from Virginia governor, Ralph Northam, until June 30, I suspect Dad Tom and I will need to begin wearing those noise-canceling earphones.

Though this post is meant to give you a chuckle, it is not an exaggeration nor an April Fools Day joke. The April Fools refers to Misty May entering the Wordless Wednesday blog hop at Comedy Plus; though, I have bombarded you with more than 300 words. If you’d like join, click on the badge below.

MISTY MAY CELEBRATES BEING BLUE

Caturday Art

Last week when I snapped my selfie, I took a second photo as well. Mom said my eyes looked really scary in it and that the photo was out of focus. Supposedly, she thinks those are the best type of photos with which to experiment. I am going to show you the original, the interim creation and the final “arty” photo, as I think the progression is interesting.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Tomorrow is already the last Sunday of January 2020! That’s just crazy. There are actually still some Christmas decorations up in our house, and a few neighbors continue to turn on their outside lights every night.

What’s even more crazy is the fact that when Mom was at CVS yesterday, she noticed the candy aisle had Valentine’s candy on one side and Easter on the other. What’s that all about?

Excuse me for going off on a tangent.

I have no idea which of the Kitties Blue will be here tomorrow, but I sure hope all our usual participants will be here and some new ones as well.

Until then…

Purrs and paw-pats, Misty May (with a couple kisses for that special man-cat)

MISTY MAY’S SELFIE FROM DAD TOM’S LAP

Sunday Selfies: Week #284

Sunday Selfies

I took my selfie sitting in Dad Tom’s lap. If he is sitting or lying down, I am all over him. Of course, I also spend time on Mom’s head or face during the night. I never like her to feel left out.

Anyhoo, it only took me two tries (unlike Astrid’s 20 or so of last week) to get this terrific photo of myself, looking lovingly at my dad.

I really don’t have anything else to say. I save all my caterwauling for yelling at Mom and Dad.

That means it is your turn to share your selfie or one of a friend if you’d rather. I’m not going to repeat all those hopping tips, but it would be terrific if you would link back to The Cat on My Head and share our badge.

We are so grateful to everyone who is a regular entrant in the hop. And of course, newbies are always welcome. This is a great place to meet and make new friends.

So that’s it!

Purrs and paw-pats, Misty May (with kisses for a certain black, floofy man-cat)

LIVE IN THE MOMENT

Sparks

As I often do, I have a selected a Spark to share that speaks to me.

I have spent my entire adult life trying to live in the moment, but I am easily distracted. I often do not remember things that have occurred due to my mind being otherwise occupied. So, today’s Spark is a reminder for me, and I suspect some of you as well.

The author of today’s Spark, Wayne Walter Dyer (1940 – 2015) was an American self-help author and motivational speaker. His first book, Your Erroneous Zones (1976), is one of the best-selling books of all time. An estimated 35 million copies have been sold.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

This fun-loving, tabby duo will return tomorrow with the next installment in their adventure series. It is Periwinkle’s week to post, and I know both she and Stinky will be looking forward to seeing you tomorrow at Friends Furever.
