BUILDING BLOWS ITS TOP; MAU & COOP GRADUATE FROM CSU

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

If it’s Thursday, that means it is poetry day. We are joining our good friends from Two Spoiled Cats, Teddy and Angel Sammy, who host this fun event. They provide an inspiration photo as the jumping off place for our imaginations and poems. This week’s photo, which was provided to the boys by Little Binky and her granny, is a doozy.

I had a difficult time writing a poem that does this photo blooper justice, and I know it’s not my best effort. Hope you enjoy it anyway.

Headline: Building Blows It’s Top

Looks like this building blew its top
Or did it grow gaseous and pop?
Can we put it together again
Or is that a dream we can’t attain?
The residents on the upper floors
Are stuck behind their closed doors
And must crawl out their windows.
If it can be put right, we’ll be heroes.
But I fear this building’s fate is sealed,
And it’s too far gone to be healed.

Thankful Thursday

Mau and Cooper Murphy are thankful to have completed all the requirements to graduate with honors from Cat Scout University. Dad Tom and I are super proud of them!

Mom is thankful she is finally getting to see two of her friends this week. This is the first time in four months she has seen any friends in person. She’s happy they all followed the rules and remained healthy, so they can now get together.

We all are thankful that our friends and family remain virus free. Please follow the guidelines of your state and the CDC and stay healthy. You are important to us.

Brian is the host of the Thankful Thursday blog hop. To take part, post on your blog for what you are thankful, then click on Brian’s badge to go to his blog and enter the link to your post.

ARTY FLASHBACK PHOTO

Caturday Art

When looking for a photo for Caturday Art, Dad Tom came up with this one from 2011. Our sweet angel, Fiona, and Mau were snuggling in a cat bed in the bedroom. They both had laser eyes, so I never used the photo.

I am trying out a new photo-editing program, PhotoPad. It is going to take a while for me to become proficient. After original edits, I returned to Painnt to create my art. I used the Toons effect and an aluminum frame. I did manipulate the contrast, saturation and hue in the app.

Mau and Angel Fiona are joining the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. To join them or view art by other bloggers click on the badge below.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

We should have a sunny day tomorrow, for which we are all grateful, after being inundated with days of rain. That means we’ll be on the catio taking our easy. But before that happens, one of us will be snapping a selfie to share with you on our blog hop. And we are inviting you to do the same. Your fans look forward to seeing your adorable faces here and on your blog each Sunday.

We appreciate each of you who continue to join us every week and, of course, newcomers are always welcome.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

MEMORIAL DAY 2020 WITH KITTIES BLUE

Memorial Day Spark & Awww Mondays

Kitties Blue and I decided to remember those who served and lost their lives for our country with today’s Spark. I also thought Maya Angelou’s quote appropriate as recognition for all those serving our country on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie is taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. Many of us still continue to post a Spark on Monday, as we believe in Annie’s vision: “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

Astrid, Mau and Sawyer are representing Kitties Blue today and are joining the Awww Mondays blog hop. If you’d like to join them, click on the badge below to be whisked away to Comedy-Plus, our host.

We know Memorial Day is a big day for bar-b-ques, picnics, beach visits and family gatherings. If you are planning on participating in any of these type of events, please be careful and follow the CDC guidelines on social distancing, mask wearing and not gathering in groups of more than 10. Each of you and your families are very important to us, and we don’t want any of you to get the virus.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Our favorite tabby duo will return here tomorrow for another adventure. Please join them. They always have a blast!

MAU’S MOTHER’S DAY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #300

I feel honored to be your host for Mother’s Day and the 300th post of our Sunday Selfies blog hop.

Mother's Day 2020

Of course, I am representing all Kitties Blue in wishing our special mom and all moms (including my wonderful mother-in-law Sharon) a Happy Mother’s Day. My furblings and I colored a special bouquet for them as well.

Mother's Day 2020

It is now time for you to share your selfies. I know those of you with moms will make them very happy if you make your selfie extra special. Remember, all anipals are welcome, regardless of species, and it is not necessary to post on Sunday to join the hop. It remains open through Thursday. If you could post our selfies badge or link back to The Cat on My Head, we’d be most appreciative.

And, please, don’t forget to give your mom lots of extra love, purrs and cuddles today. Showering her with even more attention than you normally would for Mother’s Day can only work in your favor when it comes to treat time.

Purrs and paw-pats, Mau (with love and kisses to Allie)

p.s. We just found out about this graphic from the Cat Blogosphere.  Thank you!

MAU IS A HOOLIGAN & FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #204

It’s time for the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). The sentences to be filled in can be found each Thursday on both their blogs. If you decide to participate, the filled-in sentences should be posted on Friday. To enter the blog hop, click on the badge at the left. It will take you to Four-Legged Furballs.

My fill-ins are in teal italics.

1. I can’t wait for the nail salon and our greenway to reopen after the quarantine.

2. I am in no hurry for the Donald Trump rallies to reopen after the quarantine.

3. These days, blah is my default mood.

4. Have I ever told you what a stinker Mau can be? If not, see below!

Feline Friday

hooligan

Mauricio may look sweet and innocent, but he is a total hooligan. Things he has learned at Cat Scouts, he now uses to get into trouble, like sneaking out. He learned how to take the cover off the cat door. Dad Tom built a bar to go over it. It took a while, but he learned to lift it, pry the cover off the door and squeeze out. Dad Tom has added a lever to hold the bar in place. Thankfully, Mau has not figured that out yet. I will share a photo of the contraption in the future.

Mau is joining the Feline Friday blog hop at Comedy Plus. Click on the badge below to join him.

MY THREE BOYS ON FRIENDSHIP

Sparks

Social distancing sucks! Though I am thankful to be able to keep up with friends via texting, e-mails and the phone, I miss spending time with my local friends. I believe it is time to learn how to use Zoom.

Missing friends is what prompted my Spark for today, for which my three boys were happy to pose, just as long as they didn’t have to wake up.

Today’s Spark is from Saint Thomas Aquinas, a 13th century Italian Dominican friar, influential philosopher, theologian, Catholic priest, and Doctor of the Church.

Awww Mondays

Sawyer, Cooper Murphy and Mau will be hopping over to Comedy Plus as soon they wake up to join the Awww Mondays blog hop. If you’d also like to join, click on the badge below.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Thankfully, our two favorite adventuring tabbies, Periwinkle & Stinky, don’t have to practice social distancing. That means they will be off on another adventure tomorrow. You can read it right here at The Cat on My Head, and Stinky and Periwinkle have their paws crossed you will join them.

LIFE IS A ONE TIME OFFER

Sparks

I am certain we all know this, especially now, but I think a reminder can never hurt.

Awww Mondays

Dad Tom decided to join Mau at the Awww Monday’s blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. I think they are both pretty darn awwwdorable!

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow, our favorite tabbies, Periwinkle & Stinky, will be off on another adventure. It will be posted at Friends Furever, and I really hope you will visit and support this fun-loving duo.

DON’T FORGET TO WASH YOUR PAWS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #201

Kitties Blue and I have returned to take on the Friendly Fill-Ins again this week; though, they made me do them all by myself. Friendly Fill-Ins is a blog hop hosted by Ellen from 15 And Meowing and Lorianne from Four-Legged Furballs. They post the sentences to be filled in on their blogs each Thursday. On Fridays, those of us who participate, post our completed sentences.

If you’d like to participate click on the Fill-Ins badge. That will take you to Lorianne’s blog where you can enter the link to your post.

I have used teal italics for my fill-ins.

1. My favorite outdoor activity is riding our tandem with Dad Tom followed closely by working in the garden.

2. One positive aspect of social isolation is spending more time with Kitties Blue.

3. It’s fortunate that Dad Tom and I are retired and accustomed to staying at home, as Sawyer can have a seizure at anytime.

4. I have the number of the credit card I use most memorized.

Feline Friday

Mauricio is washing his paws to remind all humans to wash their hands thoroughly and often.

Mau is also joining the Feline Friday blog hop at Comedy Plus. To join him, click on the badge below.

Everyone please stay safe and healthy.

THE KISS: MAU LOVES ALLIE

Caturday Art

Caturday Art

I know it isn’t Valentine’s Day, but any day is a good day to say, “I love you,” and give your sweetie a smooch. So that is exactly what Mau is doing in today’s art.

I usually explain how I created my art, but I tinkered a bunch using both piZap and Picasa. Even if you want to create something similar, I don’t think an explanation would be of any help!

I am entering Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. To enter or find links to art by other bloggers, click on Athena’s badge.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

It’s unbelievable, but tomorrow is the 1st of March. And it is Sunday Selfie day. All Kitties Blue are looking forward to seeing the smiling faces of their friends. And they always are looking to make new friends. Regardless of species, all anipals are invited and encouraged to join us.

See you tomorrow.

DREAM OF DANCING

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thursday again and time for poetry. This week I have written both a haiku and poem for Teddy and Angel Sammy’s (Two Spoiled Cats) poetry challenge. This week’s inspiration photo and my poems are below.

Dream of Dancing

Growing up I wanted to be a dancer.
My parents knew it wasn’t possible,
But I didn’t…they never told me
I watch with fascination and envy
When I see masters of this art
Glide, swing, twirl and fly.
Alone, with a partner or ensemble
Dance is seductive, mesmerizing.
Someday I will dance…in heaven.
Surely God would not deny me
This one simple dream and pleasure.

My haiku:

Sexy, glamorous
Acrobatic, flexible
How do they do that?

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for this rag-tag gang of felines as well as their four furblings. What you can’t see is that these four are curled up at my feet. I am never alone or lonely.

I am blessed to have Dad Tom, the eight Kitties Blue and wonderful, supportive friends in my life.

The kitties and I are joining the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Brian. To join us, post on your blog for what you are thankful and then click on Brian’s badge.
