The Cat On My Head

MISCHIEVOUS KITTY ART

Caturday Art

mischievous cat art: Grey cat sitting with shredded tissue paper in an art photo.

I didn’t have any new kitty photos I thought would make for interesting art. So, I selected one of my favorite photos—Kizmet and the tissue paper she shredded. I originally shared it on June 23, in the post, “Not Sorry.” Kizmet says that she still isn’t sorry!

Kizmet will grab toilet paper right out my hand to shred it. We have to keep tissue boxes upside down, or she will pull out every single tissue. She is definitely mischievous!

I created the arty version of the photo using the Tabitha effect from Painnt. The simple frame is from favpng.

Here’s the link to the puzzle.

MISTY MAY’S FACE PLANT NAP

Feline Friday

face plant cat: Tuxedo cat asleep on her face.

Misty May often sleeps like this and has for many years. I previously shared a similar photo on September 23, 2020, in the Wordless Wednesday post, “Face Plant.”

The eye you can see in the photo is the one with the ulcer. As you can see, Misty May can now close her eye, which she had been unable to do. So, progress has been made for which Dad Tom and I are grateful.

Misty May will be participating in the Feline Friday blog hop hosted by messy mimi’s meanderings. If you’d like to do the same, click on the badge below.

I think Misty May looks pretty cute in her photo, so I made a puzzle.

Friendly Fill-Ins

The Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop is hosted each Friday by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). The sentences to be filled in can be found on their blogs each Thursday. To join the hop, click on the badge at the left.

The Fill-Ins are always easier to complete when I get help from one or more of the Kitties Blue, but for the second week in a row, I did them all by myself. I used teal italics for my completions. Explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. Love your pets with all your heart.

2. My plans for September include working in the yard and going to the play, “Bright Star,” with my friend, Etna.

3. Having Chris to clean the house twice a month has made my life easier.

4. Having special needs cats really complicates things. (But it is worth it!)

I’D RATHER BE A PANDA OR A CAT

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Time for some poetry. Angel Sammy and Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats) provided an adorable inspiration photo for this week. I am a huge panda fan, which you’ll be able to read about in my thankfuls later in the post.

panda cat: Baby panda in the snow riding on a hobby horse.

If I Weren’t Human

Playing in the snow is fun,
whether your a panda or a human.
If I weren’t a person, I’d like to
be a panda or a house cat.
I bet you already guessed that!
If I was a panda, I wouldn’t need
to worry about my weight.
And, if I was a feline, I’d never hesitate
to demand whatever I wanted
even if I wasn’t asked.

© Janet Buickerood Blue – 08/30/2023

Did you notice the baby panda’s blep?

I didn’t do justice to this adorable little panda in my poem. I may try again and will include whatever I come up with in a future post. Adding a cat to the photo, as I often do, might fuel my imagination!

If you’d like to join in the fun of writing poetry, click on Angel Sammy’s poetry badge. That will take you over to Two Spoiled Cats where you can find next week’s inspiration photo. You’ll also be able to read Angel Sammy’s poem for this week. He’s a terrific poet!

Thankful Thursday

Kitties Blue and I like to share our thankfuls each week and participate in Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop. Here are our thankfuls for this week.

1. My first thankful has to do with the above photo. I have loved pandas for a very long time. My vanity license plate was once PANDAS. Dad Tom and I visited the original pandas, Ling Ling and Hsing Hsing, at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. very often. I could spend the day watching the pandas.

One visit was during winter when snow was on the ground like in the photo. I think we were the only visitors on that day, and that’s where my thankful comes in. As we were watching the pandas in their outdoor enclosure, we were approached by a zoo employee. He just happened to be one of the panda keepers. He invited us inside the panda house and to an area not open to the public. We were able to stand right next to the pandas with just some chain link fencing between us. I could have touched Ling Ling and had to hold myself back. Pandas have very strong jaws. This is one of my best memories!

2. Dad Tom and I are thankful Misty May’s ulcer on her eye is shrinking. I, however, am weary! I’m in charge of the midnight and 4 a.m. administration of eye drops. Dad Tom does the 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. The noon, 4 and 8 p.m. are done my whichever one of us is available. Dad Tom will be leaving for a few days, and I will be responsible for administering all drops. I am already sleep deprived, but I expect I’ll be a babbling idiot by the time he returns. But Misty May is worth it!

3. Though, Sawyer had a seizure on Monday evening; we are thankful it had been at least a month, that we know of, since his last one.

4. I am thankful for 2,700 Peloton rides.

5. Periwinkle and Stinky are thankful for 200 adventures and for those who attended Periwinkle’s Birthday Party on Tuesday.

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CC

A Celebration for Periwinkle

Stinky is ready when Periwinkle comes tumbling from the teleportation tunnel right into his waiting paws. Once she rights herself, her mouth falls open as she sees the room is filled with balloons. Being a smart cookie, Periwinkle asks, “Are these for me for my birthday?” Stinky blushes, says “yes,” and then apologizes for himself and Sawyer missing her and Noelle’s birthdays on September 1. Periwinkle throws her arms around his neck and gives him a big hug and whisker kiss. “Stinky, this is so much better than an online or snail mail card.”

Still embarrassed, Stinky tells her that he can tell time but hasn’t quite figured out the calendar and relies on his mom to remind him of important dates, and he is pretty certain Periwinkle knows that her track record has been pitiful lately.

“Stinky, please stop apologizing, it’s okay. Now, let’s get this party started. I assume there is a party.”

“Yes, of course, but you need to put on your tiara first,” Stinky replies.

“Periwinkle, the main reason for our celebration today is your birthday. But we also have something else to celebrate.”

“Oh, goodie, two things to celebrate. What is it, Stinky?”

200 Adventures

“This is our 200th adventure. That is nearly four years of adventuring,” Stinky tells Periwinkle.

“Wow, that is a really big deal. I sure have had a lot of fun on all those adventures and hope we can have at least 200 more!”

“Me too, Periwinkle!”

“So, what are we doing to celebrate?” asks Periwinkle.

In reply, Stinky takes Periwinkle’s paw and leads her outside. Once again, she is amazed by what is awaiting her, “Stinky, this is beautiful,” Periwinkle exclaims. “Did you do all this for me?”

Lunch in the Garden

“Well, I did have some help from my mom.”

Periwinkle throws her paws around Stinky’s neck and gives him a hug. “You are so romantic, Stinky!”

Periwinkle Stinky birthday 200 adventures: Two cartoon tabby cats sitting at a fancy table in a field surrounds by candles and Periwinkle plants.

“I love all the Periwinkle plants,” says Periwinkle.

“Soon, you’ll be able to run through an entire field of them. Mom and Dad are having a huge portion of our side yard planted with periwinkles.”

“Is that just for me, Stinky?”

“I am not sure about that. It may be just one of those happy coincidences,” Stinky tells her. He then asks Periwinkle if she is ready for lunch? She tells him, “yes,” and asks what they are having. Without telling her, Stinky motions to his mom to bring out their plates: a shrimp cocktail to share as well as steak and lobster tails.

The two tabbies immediately dig into their meals and do not speak until they have eaten every morsel and licked their plates clean.

“Stinky, that was so delicious. I am absolutely stuffed.”

“Me too, but I do hope you have saved room for cake. Cooper Murphy has baked two beautiful ones for us.”

“Two cakes, why two?” asks Periwinkle.

“One for your birthday and one in celebration of our 200 adventures.”

Nap Time

“Stinky, I don’t think I could eat another bite right now. What would you think about having a little nap first?” Stinky tells Periwinkle that he thinks a nap is a wonderful idea. The two tabbies return to the house and curl up in the bed Noelle gifted Sawyer for Christmas 2022.

Birthday Cards

When Periwinkle and Stinky wake up they return to their table outside where Stinky has some cards for Periwinkle. He tells her that she has to click on each one to see it. He also tells her that the first one is just for fun!

“Stinky, those were so much fun. We need to make more for other occasions.” Stinky agrees with her and promises they will.

Cakes

Finally it is time for cakes, and Cooper Murphy delivers the ones he has baked.

Periwinkle claps her paws together when she sees the cakes and then gives Cooper Murphy a huge hug. “Thank you, Cooper, these are so beautiful. You have become a masterful baker.”

Cooper thanks Periwinkle for the compliments and cuts both tabbies huge slices from each cake. He asks if it is okay for him to take slices to all the Kitties Blue. Periwinkle and Stinky tell him to please do so.

After finishing their cake and helping each other lick the frosting from their faces, Periwinkle asks to visit with all the Kitties Blue and Stinky’s parents. Periwinkle also takes a few minutes to thank Stinky’s mom and Cooper Murphy for the parts they played in making today so wonderful.

Saying Good-Bye

Finally it is time for Periwinkle to depart. She tells Stinky, “Thank you for such a beautiful and thoughtful celebration. I loved every moment of it. I am so happy you are my boyfriend.” She then adds, “Would it be okay for me to take my tiara home as well as some cake for my mom, Noelle and Reesie?” Stinky hands her a box. “Cooper Murphy has already wrapped up some of both cakes for you to take home, and, of course, you may keep your tiara.”

Periwinkle and Stinky spend several more minutes whisker kissing, paw hugging and whispering, “I love you,” to each other. Then with tears in her eyes, Periwinkle enters the teleportation tunnel, blows Stinky a final kiss and is gone in a whoosh.

As he always does, Stinky heads to the catio for a nap and dreams of Periwinkle.

The End

Periwinkle and Stinky will be hopping along with Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday. If you would like to join them, click on the badge below.

🦜SEE THE GOOD SIDE OF LIFE🦜

Sparks

I normally would share a Spark today relating in some manner to Labor Day. Instead, I am sharing one from one of Dad Tom’s and my favorite performers, Jimmy Buffett. Buffet passed away on September 1 from Merkel cell carcinoma, a rare form of skin cancer. He was 76.

One could not be unhappy listening to Buffett’s music.

A collage of four photos from a 2009 Jimmy Buffett concert with a quote from Buffett: "It takes no more time to see the good side of life than it takes to see the bad."

The photos above are from 2009, the third and last time we saw Buffett in concert. I had forgotten that Dad Tom and I ever looked so young!

The parrot was at the concert. If you don’t know, Buffett fans are referred to as Parrot Heads. I had forgotten the parrot was named Raleigh. That is sort of a cool coincidence!

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

Awww Mondays

Raleigh, the parrot, will be participating in the Awww Mondays blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. If you’d like to join him there, click on the badge below.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

It’s time again for our two fun-loving tabbies, Periwinkle & Stinky, to set out on another adventure. It is Stinky’s turn to plan what they will be doing this week. He confided in me what he has in mind, but my lips are sealed. You’ll need to stop in right here tomorrow to join in the excitement. Adventures are always more fun with lots of friends coming along, which means they’ll be looking for you. Please don’t let them down.

DR. JEKYLL & KITTY HYDE

Sunday Selfies: Week #472

I thought I might have to spend Caturday chasing Kitties Blue around the catio in an attempt to coerce one of them into taking a selfie. Kizmet, however, obliged by snapping one while sitting on the back of her dad’s chair.

Dr. Jekyll and Kitty Hyde: Grey cat is conflicted with one eye giving the stink eye and one helicopter ear. Circular photo surrounded by a flower frame in pinks, purples and grays.

I am not certain what was going on with Kizmet.  She has one normal eye and ear and one stink eye and helicopter ear. It’s like Dr. Jekyll and Kitty Hyde. Purrhaps she was conflicted as to whether or not she should snap a selfie. In spite of this unusual inconsistency of expression, I am delighted that Kizmet agreed to be your host today.

Hopping Time

Now that Kizmet has shared her selfie, it’s you turn. The kitties and I are aware that this is a holiday weekend, and you may be busy with your peeps. Or, they may be off somewhere celebrating without you. If either is the case, it is not a problem. The hop is open through Thursday.

Once you have link up, have an easy Sunday or an easy whatever day it is.

As always, Kitties Blue and I appreciate your joining us, following, commenting and being our friends.

DREAMCATCHER GLITTER CAT

Caturday Art

dreamcatcher glitter cat: Torbie cat lying on a blanket on the bed in a photo turned into art with the Dreamcatcher effect from Painnt and the Glitter filter from piZap in shades of mostly blue and purple.

Audrey demanded equal time as Raleigh has been featured twice since she was last here. As both Cooper Murphy and Raleigh shared that photo with her, she claims it doesn’t count. So here she is, lying on the bed watching out the window for birds and bugs.

To turn her into an artful cat, I used the Dreamcatcher effect from Painnt with a slight boost to the saturation. To that I added the Glitter filter from piZap at 40%. And the frame, of course, is from the favpng app.

And here’s the puzzle.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Here we are again, ready to begin another week and in a brand new month. This one includes the first day of fall, which I am anxiously awaiting. We have had a few delightful days with below average temperatures and humidity. Unfortunately, hotter weather is returning. Of course, Kitties Blue could care less. They’ll spend their days on the catio regardless of how hot it gets. And I suspect that is where I will be trying to corner one of them to get a selfie for tomorrow.

Whether you dislike taking selfies like the Kitties Blue crew, or are ready and waiting when Sunday rolls around, we certainly hope you will take the time to snap your photo and join us. If you don’t, not only will we miss you but so will all your other friends.

If you’ve never joined us before, what are you waiting for? This is the best place to make new friends.

So, hope to see you here tomorrow. And many thanks for joining us today.

RALEIGH CELEBRATES GINGER CAT APPRECIATION DAY

Feline Friday

It’s Raleigh’s turn to entertain you with a quartet of photos. And what could be more appropriate on Ginger Cat Appreciation Day than a ginger cat. He admits that he is not as gingery as Cooper Murphy, but he thinks as the newbie he deserves the honor of representing Kitties Blue this year. One thing Raleigh has that Coop doesn’t are actual ginger-colored eyes. If you enlarge the photos a bit, you should be able to see them.

Raleigh will be participating in the Feline Friday blog hop hosted by messy mimi’s meanderings. If you’d like to do the same, click on the badge below.

The Fill-Ins are always easier to complete when I get help from one or more of the Kitties Blue, but today I did them all by myself. I used teal italics for my completions.

1. A non-monetary prize I would like to win is a Muse Medallion from the Cat Writers’ Association.

2. If I won tickets to a rap or hip hop concert, I would give them away.

3. I think that those who abuse or abandon animals should be fined and serve time in jail.

4. When it comes to telling stories, I like telling ones about Periwinkle & Stinky to our readers.

Thanks for stopping in to see us today. Kitties Blue and I really appreciate it. We’ll be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art.

WEDDING DAY BLUES SANS FELINES

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

If it is Thursday, I am going to be writing poetry based on an inspiration photo provided by Angel Sammy and Teddy from Two Spoiled Cats. Here’s this week’s photo.

Wedding Day Blues Felines: Bride looking under the hood of a vintage car while groom sits on sidelines.

I really wanted to load up this car with some of Kitties Blue staring out the windows! Unfortunately coming up with a poem to match that scenario proved exceedingly difficult. So here’s my poem sans felines.

Wedding Day Blues

The ceremony was magical.
The reception beautiful and perfect.
Now we are left in this predicament−
stranded on the side of the road.
Renting this fancy, vintage auto
was my groom’s lame-brained idea.
He knows nothing about cars and sits
miserably moping and mumbling, no help
at all. My high school auto mechanics class
helped me identify the problem, but I have
no tools to make the repair. Cell phone
service is non-existent. Our only hope
is another car passing along this
deserted stretch of road. I’m not holding
my breath. So much for the honeymoon.

Thankful Thursday

Kitties Blue and I like to share our thankfuls each week and participate in Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop. Here’s our thankfuls for this week.

To me it appears that after eight days of treatment, the cyst in Misty May’s eye has shrunk some. Dad Tom and I are very thankful for this. I will be calling the vet tomorrow to see if we can get another week’s worth of serum to treat it in the hopes it will shrink even more.

We are always thankful that we live in an area that is rarely effected by devastating storms and other natural disasters. We are praying for everyone in Lahaina, where fires are burning again, and all those who were and continue to be in the path of hurricane Idalia.

Kitties Blue and I are always thankful to everyone who follows, visits and comments on our posts. We are grateful for your friendship and support.
