Father’s Day

KITTIES BLUE HONOR THEIR DAD

Sunday Selfies: Week #618

We love our dad bunches. He takes such good care of us. Dad buys our food and feeds us. He cleans our litter boxes and fountains. He also makes certain to feed the birds so that we have lots of entertainment. And he is terrific as cat furniture. As today is Father’s Day, we are here to honor and celebrate him.

The Cat on My Head's Kitties Blue honor their dad on Father's Day with a collage of usies that include them and their dad.

As it also is National Selfie Day, we decided to include Dad in our selfies. Though, Lisbeth loves attention from both Mom and Dad; she is not a lap cat. So, Lisbeth is alone in her selfie.

We know each of you with a human dad will be celebrating him today, and we wish all the dad’s (whether your children have two or four legs) an exceptional Father’s Day filled with lots of love.

We hope that if you are visiting today, you will join us on our blog hop. If you would like to include your dad in your selfie and make it an usie, as seven of us did, that would be terrific. Of course, that is not a requirement, as we know some of you have only a loving mom caring for you. If you are too busy celebrating today, you can join us here anytime through Thursday.

Whether you hop or not, thanks for joining us. Wishing everyone a happy first day of summer as well!

CELEBRATING FATHER’S DAY 2025

Sunday Selfies: Week #565

We have bonus selfies today. All eight of us Kitties Blue are here along with our dad to celebrate Father’s Day 2025.

A collage with eight cats and one man on a blue plaid background with a blue frame and the words, "#1 Best Cat Dad," to celebrate Father's Day 2025.

We do have a terrific Dad. He does so much for us, including cleaning our litter boxes and fountains, preparing our meals, giving us treats, letting us sleep on him and crowd him out of bed. We feel so lucky to have him as our dad.

We know not all but most pet dads are the best dads. All those who consider their fur children full-fledged family members get gold stars. We know some of our furry friends do not have dads and their moms have to do double duty. We hope those of you in that situation will give your moms some extra love today. They have a tough job.

Let’s Hop

We know lots of you will be spending the day lavishing your dad with love and cuddles, so if you cannot get around to joining the hop today, we totally understand. But, we honestly hope that once the festivities are over, you will add your selfie to the hop. All of us and all of your other friends look forward every week to seeing you at your best. And who doesn’t like to show off just a tiny bit. Anyhoo, we’ll all be here through Thursday, so you can hop with us anytime over the next five days.

And the Winner Is

Yesterday’s Caturday Art featured the paw and toe beans of one of us Kitties Blue. Mom said she would have a surprise for the first individual and their cat(s) who guessed to which of us the paw and toe beans belonged. Mom expected many of you would guess Cooper Murphy due to the color of the art, and she was right. But … it wasn’t him. That paw and those beans belong to Kizmet. And the first and only person to guess correctly was Vicky from Eastside Cats. Congratulations! Mom has your mailing address, and she will e-mail you when she puts your surprise in the mail. Thanks to all who played along.

And thank you so much for joining us today. Have a wonderful Father’s Day and easy Sunday.

Purrs and paw-pats, Kitties Blue

FATHER’S DAY 2024 GROUP SELFIES

Sunday Selfies: Week #513

Today is one of our favorite days of the year, as it is the day we get to let our dad know just how much we love him. He does everything for us. He feeds us, gives us treats, cleans our litter boxes, fills the bird feeders for our entertainment. We are so lucky to have him as or dad.

Kitties Blue Father's Day selfies: A collage with eight cats and one man with a heart and the words, Happy Father's Day.

To show our appreciation, we made Dad Tom (with a little help from our mom) a badge he can wear to let everyone know how furabulous he is. Mom helped us purchase a special gift, which we’ll give him after breakfast. Mom plans to make French toast. And then she is taking Dad to a live production of Cabaret at our local playhouse theater. Sounds pretty good, don’t you think?

We also want to wish all the other dads and well as the moms who serve as both the mom and the dad in their family a meowvously happy Father’s Day.  It is your day to take it easy.

Hopping Time

We hope you enjoyed getting nine selfies from us today instead of the usual one. And all of us are looking forward to seeing your selfies. As it is a holiday, we suspect some of you will be busy cuddling with your dad and showing him how much you love him. So, if you cannot join us today, we totally understand. As always, the hop will remains open through Thursday.

Looking Forward

Our post tomorrow for Awww Mondays is going to be one you do not want to miss. Now, we know some of you only join us on Sundays, but this week you need to make an exception and check in with us tomorrow. If you don’t, we guarantee you will regret it!

Thanks for joining us today. We’ll definitely be looking for you tomorrow.

Purrs and paw pats and lots of love to our dad, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer, Kizmet, Audrey & Raleigh

KIZMET’S DISAPPROVING STARE & A SPARK

Awww Mondays

Grey cat sitting on a wrapped gift.

Kizmet parked herself on top of her dad’s Father’s Day gift and did not want to move, as you can see by the expression on her face. I suspect she knew that his gift was wrapped in a Cat Lady box, and she could smell the catnip toys that had once been inside.

Even if Kizmet appears disapproving, I still think she is awwwdorable enough to join the Awww Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus. If you would like to meet her there, click on the Awww badge.

Kizmet is also participating in International Box Day

Sparks

Purple Asian clematis with the following quote porinted on the photo, "I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge. That myth is more potent than history. That dreams are more powerful than facts. That hope always triumphs over experience. That laughter is the only cure for grief. And I believe that love is stronger than death." by Robert Fulghum

I found this Spark after our friend, Raz (Friends Furever), got his wings. I think you can intuit why it spoke to me.

The author of today’s Spark, Robert Lee Fulghum, is an 86-year-old, American author and Unitarian Universalist minister. Fulghum is best known for his first collection of writings, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.

The photograph is one of Dad Tom’s.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

It’s time again for our fun-loving tabbies, Periwinkle & Stinky, to take-off on another adventure. You can catch up with them tomorrow over at Friends Furever. It is Periwinkle’s turn to select what they are going to do. Whatever it is, you know the two have more fun when you join them. So, they’ll be looking for you tomorrow.

Thanks for joining us today.

FATHER’S DAY 2023 SELFIES

Sunday Selfies; Week #461

Selfies of nine cats and one man, their dad, on a Father's Day greeting.

I bet you didn’t expect to see all of us here today, but we couldn’t miss the opportunity to wish Dad Tom a Happy Father’s Day. He is really a terrific dad, and takes extra special good care of us. We all feel as if we hit the jackpot, except for maybe Raleigh, when we became one of the Kitties Blue. We know all our predecessors felt exactly the same. Of course, we also included a selfie of our dad.

Hopping Time

We certainly hope if you have a dad that you are celebrating and honoring him today. If that is the case, please share a selfie of him or maybe a photo of the two of you or even more if you have lots of fursibs.

If you are too busy today, we hope you will join the hop sometime before it closes at midnight Thursday.

Thanks for joining us today and all the other days you come by to visit. We appreciate your following and supporting us, commenting on our posts and being our friends.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO ALL THE DADS

CELEBRATING WORLD’S BEST CAT DAD

Sunday Selfies: Week #409

We imagine many of you are celebrating the World’s Best Cat Dad today. We are fairly certain each of you who have a human dad consider him to be the World’s Best. And we believe that is exactly how it should be. So here’s best wishes for Father’s Day to all the cat dads (as well as all dads) but especially ours.

Thanks Dad Tom for taking such exceptionally good care of us. We love you!

Hopping Time

Now it’s time for you to share your selfie, one of your dad or maybe the two of you together. If you and your dad are celebrating and do not have time to join us today, we totally understand. You can hop over anytime between now and Thursday.

But whatever you do, make certain you give your dad extra cuddles, purrs and love today. That’s exactly what we plan to do!

FATHER’S DAY 2021 GROUP SELFIES

Sunday Selfies: Week #358

Today we celebrate our dad, who we think is the World’s Best Cat Dad. He does everything for us, and we love him bunches. To honor him, we made a special card with his selfie and a selfie of each of us.

If you are wondering about our disguises, it’s sort of an inside joke. But if you look closely at our dad, we think you’ll figure out who is the brunt of the joke. But, we want to assure you, we are not mocking our dad.  This is to let him know we love him so much that we want to be just like him!

Hopping Time

Now it is your turn. If you’d like to honor your dad by sharing his selfie, that would be terrific. And if you’d like to share an usie with the two of you, that would be even better. Whatever you decide to share is okay with us. We just hope to see you here hopping with us. Even if you don’t want to share a selfie and hop, please stop by and check out the selfies of your friends.

WISHING OUR DAD AND ALL DADS A

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART LXXXVII

Best Friends Day

Stinky stands near the teleportation tunnel waiting for Periwinkle to arrive. He is holding gifts for her in his paws and doesn’t want to get too close. Periwinkle usually comes tumbling out of the tunnel right into Stinky’s paws, and he wants to avoid dropping anything.

Best Friends Day

Periwinkle is confused when she tumbles out of the tunnel with the usual whoosh, and Stinky is not there to catch her. When she sees him, she squeals with delight, especially when she sees his gifts. “Stinky, what have you got? Are those beautiful flowers for me and those doughnuts? What is the occasion?”

Stinky explains to Periwinkle that June 8 celebrates lots and lots of different things, and they are going to to get involved with three. While handing Periwinkle the flowers, he tells her, “I have never asked you your favorite color or favorite flower, so I hope you like these yellow roses.”

“Oh yes I do, Stinky. Why did you select these?”

Stinky explains, “Today is Best Friends Day, and you are both my girlfriend and my best friend. Yellow roses represent friendship, joy and caring. They convey happy thoughts and positive feelings of warmth. As my girlfriend you bring all those things to my life.”

Periwinkle wipes a tear from her eye and gives Stinky a big hug and whisker kiss prior to asking him about the doughnuts.

Jelly-Filled Doughnut Day

“Today also is Jelly-Filled Doughnut Day. Cooper Murphy helped me make these special ones in his Cat Scout Bake Shop. They are filled with a special catnip jelly.”

“Can we have one now?”

Stinky tells her, “Of course,” and hands Periwinkle a doughnut and then takes one for himself. They spend several minutes smacking their lips and licking their toe beans, as they enjoy their yummy doughnuts. After finishing the first one, they look at the others longingly and decide to each have another.

“Are we going anywhere today, Stinky?”

“Nope, I hope that’s okay,” he replies and adds, “But I do have something else for you.”

A Poem

Periwinkle starts to bounce from paw to paw in anticipation. Seeing this, Stinky gets very nervous. Then he begins to recite…

Periwinkle, you are my best friend,
And I know you will be until the end.
You are beautiful and kind
And hold a special place in my heart and mind.
We always have fun when we are together
But seeing you more often would make my life better.
I know that cannot happen since we live far apart,
So you will be always in my dreams and my heart.

“Oh, Stinky, you wrote me a poem. That is the sweetest thing ever. Thank you so much!”

“I know it was sort of lame, but I am happy you like it,” Stinky tells her apologetically.

“Stinky, it wasn’t lame at all, and I love it. You are the best boyfriend ever,” Periwinkle whispers as she hugs him tightly.

Hugging her back, Stinky tells Periwinkle it is time for the third celebration of the day; though, it is not actually a celebration. It is a remembrance.

World Pet Memorial Day

Stinky tells Periwinkle that June 8 also is World Pet Memorial Day, created by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), as a day when humans can memorialize their pets that have gone to the Rainbow Bridge. The AVMA suggests some ways to do this, including the creation of a photo collage or scrapbook of the beloved pet, the planting of a tree in their memory or donating money or time to an organization that helps animals.

“Stinky, are we going to do something special for our fursibs that are now angels?”

Stinky tells Periwinkle, “Yes, but not all of them. That would take us all week. We are going to do a special memorial photo for your sisfur, Allie, and my brofur, Mau, as they were the last ones to leave our families as well as husband and wife.”

“Oh, I really like that Stinky. Let’s do it now.”

The tabbies get busy making their special memorial. When finished they show it to Stinky’s mom and dad, who are very impressed and proud of Periwinkle and Stinky for doing something so nice and thoughtful.

Stinky stifles a yawn and asks Periwinkle if she’d like to have a nap and then another doughnut and some Temptations before she has to leave for home. Periwinkle agrees that would be a terrific idea, and the tabbies head to Stinky’s dad’s chair where they curl up together for a nice long snooze and cuddle.

The End

Periwinkle & Stinky are joining the Happy Tuesday blog hop at Comedy Plus.

FATHER’S DAY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #253

I am the designated Kitty Blue to be your host for this special Sunday…Father’s Day.

Lots of men claim they don’t like cats. I feel sorry for them. They are missing out on lots of love and fun. Of course, we know many cat dads. In fact several follow this blog, and their kitties join Sunday Selfies. We know they are all fabulous dads, but we think our cat dad is the very BEST one.

My selfie is our card for Dad Tom.

Now it’s your turn. If you want to share an usie with you and your dad, that would be terrific, but not necessary if your dad is shy.

Time to Hop

Here are those hopping tips Mom likes us to post.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • Posting on Sundays is not necessary to join.
  • You do not need to be a cat to enter. All anipals are welcome regardless of species.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.
  • Take the opportunity to visit some of the other hop-alongs and make some new friends or reconnect with some old ones.

Thanks to everyone who continues to support and join us for our weekly hop. And welcome to all those who are joining us for the first time.

All my fursibs and I want to wish all dads everywhere a Happy Father’s Day.

Purrs and paw-pats, Calista Jo
