Blog 4 Peace

A SPARK FOR PEACE

Sparks

I have always participated in Mimi Lenox’s Blog 4 Peace, but I was remiss this year and missed posting on the two days for which it is scheduled. I decided a Peace Spark would be the perfect way to make up for it. And, with the current wars between Hamas and Israel and Russia and Ukraine, praying for and posting about peace is appropriate everyday, not just on November 4 and 5.

Here is Kitties Blue Peace Globe for 2023. They all wanted to participate; though, they do not always practice peace among themselves.

peace spark Eight cats with a globe and the words DONA NOBIS PACEM with this quote, "Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding," from Albert Einstein.

The Blog 4 Peace theme for 2023 is Change The Room ~ The Transforming Power of Walking in Peace. I do think the Spark from Einstein fits the theme well.

Sparks badge for peace sparkSparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

It’s time again for Periwinkle & Stinky, your favorite tabby adventurers, to get together for another fun day. Periwinkle is responsible for the planning this week, which means you will need to visit Friends Furever to join them. I know the kitties will be looking for you, so don’t forget to pop in on them tomorrow. They always have more fun when lots of friends join in.

Thanks for joining us today. We wish you peace.

DONA NOBIS PACEM 2022

No Freedom, No Peace

A graphic for the Blog4Peace event representing the 2022 focus: no freedom no peace. It is on a background of the night sky with a peace symbol made up of colorful flowers and embellished with the heads of all nine Kitties Blue.

Kitties Blue and I are participating in the 17th annual Blog4Peace (aka Blog Blast for Peace). The event originated in 2006 with  Mimi Lennox as its founder.

This year’s theme is No Freedom, No Peace. Ms. Lennox has written a very thoughtful and thought-provoking post with regard to this. I suggest you read it by clicking on the link above.

Our world currently is in turmoil from the war in Ukraine to the political unrest right here in the United States. Add to that the disagreement and distress over immigration policies, the gun violence and mass killings of innocent citizens and the COVID virus, I find it difficult to feel free. In fact, I nthink very hard now before I leave my house as to whether or not I really need to do so. I avoid crowds at all costs. And yet those of us who live in the United States are very fortunate.

This year I am additionally sending prayers for the citizens of Ukraine. They are being terrorized and killed and their country destroyed at the behest of a despot. They deserve to have their peace and freedom restored.

Prayers also go out to the civilians of Afghanistan, who under the restoration of Taliban rule have seen the small amount of progress made toward improving the rights of women reversed. Additionally, rights to freedom of assembly and expression have been significantly diminished. Healthcare, which was drastically compromised by the COVID pandemic, has been undermined by the suspension of international aid. They too deserve to have their peace and freedom restored.

Finally, each year I close my Blog4Peace post with the same wish.

“TODAY BOTH THE KITTIES AND THE HUMANS AT THE CAT ON MY HEAD JOIN BLOGGERS
WORLDWIDE WHO DREAM OF AND PRAY FOR PEACE FOR ALL THE PEOPLE AND ANIMALS
OF THIS EARTH. MAY EACH OF YOU FIND YOUR OWN INNER PEACE AS WELL.”

AN “AWWW”DORABLE KITTEN & ANGELS

Awww Mondays

Audrey and Raleigh play hard for an hour or two a day, and then it is time for an extended extended session of napping. They both enjoy the cat trees in the bedroom, as evidenced by many photos I have recently shared. We discovered Raleigh in this position during a nap two days ago.

Orange kitten napping with head resting on edge of cat tree and against a wall.

You may have noticed he is wearing a different harness than the one he’s previously been seen wearing. He and Audrey are growing so quickly that we already had to ditch the original kitten harnesses. Raleigh now has the blue one you see, and Audrey has a new pink one.

I think you’ll agree with me there is nothing more “awww” worthy than a baby animal of any species.

Awww Mondays is a blog hop hosted by Comedy Plus. Raleigh will be participating and you can do the same by clicking on the “awww” badge.

Blue Ridge Parkway sunrise among clouds in colors of gold and mauve with the following quote from St. Francis de Sales: Make friends with the angels, who though invisible are always with you. Often invoke them, constantly praise them, and make good use of their help and assistance in all your temporal and spiritual affairs.

I wanted a Spark about angels, and this one spoke to me. I imagine those invisible angels floating just above the clouds in another of Dad Tom’s photos. This too was taken at sunrise from the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie is taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. Many of us still continue to post a Spark on Monday, as we believe in Annie’s vision: “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

This fun-loving, tabby duo will return tomorrow with the next installment in their adventure series. It is Periwinkle’s week to plan and post their adventure, so look for them at Friends Furever tomorrow. I know both Periwinkle and Stinky will be looking forward to seeing all of you.

Wishing all in the USA a happy Labor Day.

A SUPPORTIVE SPARK WORTH REPEATING

Sparks

With the last two days being dedicated to Blog4Peace Ukraine, I wanted to find a Spark about supporting each other. I actually did use this quote back in August for the post,”Strong, Fearless, Beautiful,” as I thanked those who had supported us while Sawyer was missing. The photo I used for that post was of Misty May. Today, I selected some Caturday Art of Lisbeth, which she made as a gift for her boyfriend Charles in 2016 and shared in the post, “Happy Birthday from Lisbeth to Charles.”

An art enhanced photo of tuxedo cat with the following supportive spark from Misty Copeland: Be strong, be fearless, be beautiful. And believe that anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you.

I think I want to make this quote my motto. It is so powerful, and I believe can be shared often, as a reminder to each of us not only to be strong, fearless and beautiful but also as a reminder that we are those things.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader.

Our two fun loving tabbies, Periwinkle and Stinky, will be enjoying their next adventure tomorrow from right here. It’s a special adventure, as a dear friend will be joining in the fun. I promised them I wouldn’t hint at who it will be.  They want you to come see for yourselves and enjoy the adventure with the three of them. So please join Periwinkle, Stinky and their special friend tomorrow!

C.J.’S SQUINTY-EYED SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #397

SQUINTY-EYED SELFIE of a dilute tortoise shell cat

I am a little miffed. It has been two months since I was featured with a selfie. Sheesh! And then I get this less than satisfactory one. I was enjoying a lovely sunpuddle nap on the humans’ bed when I was rudely awakened. That’s why I am squinty eyed and look a bit grumpy. But I am here, and that’s what counts.

And I absolutely cannot wait for you to join me. I know you’ll have a nicer expression on your face.

I did convince Mom to make a puzzle for you, as we did not have one yesterday.

The Blog4Peace for Ukraine continues today. We will support and pray for all the citizens and animals of Ukraine until this horrific and unprovoked war comes to an end.

Thanks for joining us today. All the Kitties Blue appreciate your friendship and support.

BLOG4PEACE UKRAINE

Caturday Art

Our art is different today. It does not include a cat. We are participating in a special Blog4Peace to show our support for the people, pets and all animals of Ukraine. The United Nation reports that as of March 22, 3.6 million people have left their homes in Ukraine. I cannot imagine being in the situation in which these individuals have been placed. They are and will remain in my prayers.

This special event is being sponsored by Mimi Lenox, who sponsors the annual Blog4Peace each November. You can find more information on the Blog4Peace website. You can enter the link to your Peace post here.

Blog4Peace Ukraine: Graphic including Ukrainian flag, peace sign, heart and Ukranian national flower, the sunflower and quote from Pope Benedict XVI.

If you are participating today, please share the message across all your social media accounts.

This is our art for Athena’s Caturday Art blog hop. You can participate in the hop by clicking on her badge.

Thanks for visiting today and offering your support to the citizens of Ukraine.

We will be having our weekly blog hop tomorrow, and Kitties Blue hope you’ll join them here.

DONA NOBIS PACEM 2021 (BLOG4PEACE)

Thankful Thursday

blog4peace

As we do each year, Kitties Blue and I are participating in Blog4Peace, the creation of Mimi Lenox. This is the 16th year for this annual event. If you are unfamiliar with it or Mimi Lenox, click here to visit the official Blog4Peace site.

We are truly thankful we live peaceful lives, except possibly for those weeks this summer when Sawyer was missing.

I selected the quote from Jimi Hendrix, as it seams so many people and various groups on our planet are overcome by hatred. They have forgotten the verse, “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself,” from the Gospel of Matthew. I understand this is from the Christian Bible, and the world is filled with individuals of many faiths, but the wish and need for peace knows no particular faith. We all deserve to live in peace without fear for ourselves, our loved ones, friends and pets.

So today, we pray for love and peace and are thankful to have both in our lives.

In addition to taking part in Blog4Peace we are joining the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Brian. If you’d like to do the same, click on his badge.

BLOGBLAST 4 PEACE 2019

Sparks: Dona Nobis Pacem

This is an important event celebrated on November 4. It was established by Mimi Lenox in 2006.

Today, I am combining two posts, our Peace Globe for 2019 as well as a quote (Spark) about peace.

The theme for this year’s Blog 4 Peace is Change Your Climate. We know there are some naysayers when it comes to climate change, but the evidence is all around: hotter temperatures, melting glaciers, more frequent and severe storms and floods.

As individuals we all can do a variety of things to help our climate. A few of the things the kitties Dad and I do is use energy-efficient light bulbs, wash our clothes in cold or warm water, use Energy Star appliances and an on-demand water heater for the addition. And we have 48 solar panels on our roof. There are a variety of web-sites with lists of things you too can do to help.

TODAY BOTH THE KITTIES AND THE HUMANS AT THE CAT ON MY HEAD JOIN BLOGGERS WORLDWIDE WHO DREAM OF AND PRAY FOR PEACE FOR ALL THE PEOPLE AND ANIMALS OF THIS EARTH. THOUGH WE DO THIS EVERY YEAR, IT SEEMS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT TODAY WITH THE DIVISION WITHIN OUR OWN COUNTRY.

MAY EACH OF YOU FIND YOUR OWN INNER PEACE AS WELL.

DONA NOBIS PACEM SELFIE

Blog Blast for Peace

I am the most peaceful cat in the Kitties Blue Kingdom, so I have the honor of being the selfie representative again today.

Dona Nobis Pacem Selfie 2018

November 4 is a special day, and we always participate. It is the day bloggers worldwide come together and pray for peace for all humans and animals of this earth. I can’t think of a time when we need it more, especially here in the U.S. So much hatred is being demonstrated on a regular basis with these senseless shootings and killings. It is our sincere prayer that these will stop, just as it is our prayer that no animals will be senselessly euthanized or treated with disregard or cruelty.

MAY EACH OF YOU FIND YOUR OWN INNER PEACE AS WELL.
