Birthday

A BUSY & WORDY WEDNESDAY

Bad Mom

I have tried to explain to the kitties that moms do not always get everything right! They are, however, less than understanding! I really cannot blame them, as they depend on their human moms and dads for everything. That includes celebrating birthdays and other special days. I forgot two very important celebrations that should have occurred on Monday, which is why this is going to be a rather wordy post.

Belated Birthday

Monday was Noelle and Periwinkle’s eighth birthday. Granted we are only a couple of days late, but nonetheless it is all my fault. I am certain if Sawyer and Stinky had been able to remind me, they would have.

If Noelle and Periwinkle are anything like my friends and me, I am relatively certain they will not mind being feted again today. The boys have made them a card and Cooper Murphy has helped them bake a cake.

A pink birthday cake with red and pink hearts, two grey cartoon cats, pink bows and a heart on top that says, "Love." The cake says, "Happy Birthday Noelle & Periwinkle."

Even if you celebrated with Noelle and Periwinkle on their blog, Friends Furever, we definitely hope you will take a few minutes out of your busy day to celebrate again with a piece of cake, some nip ice cream and some beverages.

🎂 Noelle and Periwinkle, we love you very, very much, and we
hope you enjoy these belated festivities, Sawyer and Stinky 🎂

Ginger Cat Appreciation Day

Ginger Cat Appreciation Day badge.
Even having two ginger kitties did not help me remember their special day on Monday. I am fairly certain Raleigh didn’t care. As long as we feed him and leave him alone, he’s a relatively happy camper. Cooper Murphy is much more demanding but is unaware of my faux pas. They did enjoy a nice day on the catio with a bit of bird watching.

Two ginger tabby cats watching a bird.

The bird is on the roof, and Raleigh has it in his sights. Cooper had been watching prior to Dad Tom taking this photo. When I checked on them, Raleigh was whacking Cooper on the head. Even when it is a special day, boys will be boys.

I did make a little cake for them. It would not have been fair to Cooper if he had to bake one for himself. He maybe should appoint an assistant, like Mau did with him back when they were Cat Scouts. Anyhoo, there can never be too much cake.

Though we had plenty of words today, Kitties Blue still plan to join the Wordless Wednesday blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. If you would like to join them there, click on the WW badge.

Thanks for joining us today. Hope you had fun.

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CCCII

14th Birthday Celebration for Astrid & Lisbeth

Stinky is anxious for Periwinkle’s arrival as he knows he needs lots of help with today’s adventure. His mom, in her usual forgetfulness, missed Astrid and Lisbeth’s 14th birthday on Sunday. So, passing the buck, she has tasked Stinky and Periwinkle with planning a party for today. Stinky passed the buck again when he asked Cooper Murphy to make the birthday cake. Now he needs Periwinkle to help him decorate and make a special scrapbook for Astrid and Lisbeth.

As Stinky paces nervously past the teleportation tunnel, he is delighted to hear the familiar whoosh from the tunnel. Periwinkle comes tumbling out into his waiting paws. When she finishes giggling, Periwinkle and Stinky spend time whisker kissing and paw hugging. When they part, Periwinkle says, “I guess I do not need to ask what we are doing today. I read on your blog yesterday that we are putting together a party for Astrid and Lisbeth’s 14th birthday.”

“That’s right,” says Stinky and takes Periwinkle’s paw to lead her to the kitchen. “First, Mom asked us to make some special scrapbook pages with photos from past birthdays, as she knows we are good at that. When we finish, we will teleport to our cottage where all of our fursibs will meet us for the party.”

“Oh, Stinky, I am so happy we are going to the cottage. We haven’t been there for ages. Let’s get to work.”

The tabbies get busy putting together several scrapbook pages with photos of cards from friends and family, gifts from now angels, Charles (Lisbeth’s boyfriend) and Sampy (Astrid’s husband) and cakes. When complete, they pack them up and head back to the teleportation tunnel, so they will be at the cottage to greet Astrid, Lisbeth and all their other fursibs.

At the Cottage

Periwinkle and Stinky are waiting on the porch to greet all the others when they arrive.

When all the felines are gathered, they head to the dining room where Stinky gives Astrid and Lisbeth crowns to wear and Cooper Murphy presents the cake he’s made. All the kitties sing Happy Birthday to Lisbeth and Astrid. After, they each have huge pieces of cake and a long visit.

Scrapbook Gift

After finishing their cake and washing their paws and whiskers, Periwinkle & Stinky present the birthday girls with their scrapbook pages. Astrid and Lisbeth spend lots of time admiring each page and then pass the pages around the table so everyone can see them.

Relaxing in the Garden

The kitties all agree it would be nice to spend time in Stinky and Periwinkle’s garden and head outside.

Garden strung with Christmas and inhabited by ten cats and two cartoon tabby cats.

“Wow, your garden is so beautiful,” enthuses Reesie.

“I am really happy we didn’t take down the lights,” responds Periwinkle.

“The flowers are amazing as well,” remarks Kizmet.

Everyone thinks it is a lovely spot to relax and decide to curl up for a nap. When they awake it has gotten dark, and it is time to head home. As everyone is heading to the teleportation tunnel, Periwinkle whispers to Stinky, “Do you think our moms would mind if you and I stay over until morning?”

“I already asked before we came, and they both said that it would be okay,” Stinky tells her.

As their fursibs enter the teleportation tunnel Stinky and Periwinkle hug each one and thank them for coming.

Astrid and Lisbeth are the last to leave. The four kitties share a group hug. “Thank you for a wonderful party,” Astrid says. Lisbeth nods and says, “Yes, thank you so much!”

After seeing all their guests off, Periwinkle and Stinky head back into the cottage for a snack and then bed. Periwinkle asks “Stinky, I know they thanked us, but do you think Astrid and Lisbeth enjoyed their party and gift?”

“I am certain they did. And I think all our other fursibs did as well.”

“Oh good, I’m glad,” replies Periwinkle.

Good Night Friends

“Stinky, I love the new wreath on the wall in our bedroom and thank you so much for the adorable panda stuffy. You are the sweetest fiancé ever,” says Periwinkle as she gives Stinky a huge paw hug and whisker kiss. After several more hugs and kisses the tabbies settle down to sleep.

“Good night, Periwinkle. I love you.”

“Good night, Stinky. Sleep well. I love you too.”

The End

DREAMS, HOPE, REALITY & TOE BEANS

Sparks/Awww Mondays

A tortoise shell cat lying in a silly position and showing off her toe beans with a quote from Robert H. Goddard, "It is difficult to say what is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow."

Awww-dorable Astrid with her toe beans and silly position is here in a birthday photo from yesterday to share our Spark. (More about her and Lisbeth’s birthday later in the post.)

I saved this quote many years ago and found it when cleaning out a drawer in the kitchen on Saturday. it seemed the purrfect time to share it.

The author of today’s Spark, Robert Hutchings Goddard (1882 – 1945) was an American engineer, inventor, physicist and professor. He’s credited with creating and building the world’s first liquid-fueled rocket. It was launched successfully on March 16, 1926.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. It began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

Astrid will be participating in Sandee’s Awww Mondays blog hop over at Comedy Plus. You can to the same by clicking on the Awww badge.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky Reminder

Tomorrow is the special day when our also awww-dorable tabby adventurers, Periwinkle and Stinky, set out on a new adventure.

Astrid and Lisbeth shared their 14th birthday yesterday, and I totally missed it. I had it in my head that their birthday is not until the 28th. I can name all 22 of the past and current Kitties Blue in order, but somehow I cannot seem to remember birthdays. Bad, bad Mom! I think my brain is petrified.

Since I completely missed celebrating, and Periwinkle and Stinky are known for their exceptional abilities as party planners, they will be having a birthday party for Astrid and Lisbeth tomorrow. So, Periwinkle, Stinky and I really hope you will come right back here tomorrow to celebrate Astrid and Lisbeth’s 14th birthday.

Thanks for joining us today.

HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY SWEET SAWYER

Happy Tuesday Birthday

What better way to celebrate Happy Tuesday than with a birthday, especially when it is Sawyer’s. That he has reached his eighth birthday is a surprise and a blessing. We honestly never dreamed he would be with us this long when we found out about his seizure disorder, and we were unable to get the seizures to stop without the intervention of the veterinarians at the Emergency Vet and/or our own vet.

We pray he will enjoy many more years and that the new delivery system for his phenobarbital will provide better control of those seizures.

A birthday card with a photo of a grey tabby cat, Sawyer, who turns eight today.

Of course, Cooper Murphy happily baked a cake for him. As the Fourth of July is just a few days away, Cooper selected a red, white and blue theme. And look at the cake topper … he captured Sawyer purrfectly.

A red, white and blue birthday cake with a grey tabby cat topper for the 8th birthday of cat, Sawyer.

Please join us in a piece of cake. We do have some beverages and catnip ice cream as well.

The real party for Sawyer, however, is at Friends Furever. Periwinkle & Noelle have planned a party for Stinky and Sawyer, which I believe is a surprise. It will be Periwinkle and Stinky’s Adventure for the week.

I am so grateful to Periwinkle and Noelle as well as Mom Sharon for planning this for our special boys. I hope you will stop in and join the party. You can do so by clicking on Periwinkle & Stinky’s badge.

And Kitties Blue will be participating in the Happy Tuesday blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. If you would also like to do so, click on the Happy badge.

Thanks for stopping in today.

A POEM & THANKFUL FOR A BEST FRIEND

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Once again, I have tried to write some poetry based on an adorable inspiration photo provided by Angel Sammy and Teddy from Two Spoiled Cats. I am always my own worst critic, but again I am not really satisfied with what I have created. Nonetheless, here’s the photo followed by my poem.

Cat standing with front paws on kitchen counter and back paws on the rump of a black dog.

Mom Never Looks There

Skittles and Timothy are always in tune.
Timothy does his best downward dog. Skittles
jumps on his rump, scouts for humans. If all’s
clear, she hops to counter, noses lid from dog
biscuit jar, careful not to break glass,
fishes biscuit out with paws, drops to Timothy,
who then becomes the lookout. Skittles dashes
to cupboard, paws it open, grabs the treat
pouch with her teeth, jumps to safety. Dog
and cat high-paw, munch, consume all evidence—
only the empty treat bag remains. Oh, what
to do … what to do? Dog and cat scratch their heads.
Skittles has an idea, whispers her plan.
Pouch in mouth, Timothy sprints to sofa,
noses up a cushion, deposits the empty bag.
Cat and dog touch paws, go their separate ways.

Each week Angel Sammy transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to Teddy for publication. Sammy is an excellent poet, which is why we always suggest you head over to Two Spoiled Cats to read his weekly contribution. You can get there by clicking on the poetry badge. While there, check out the inspiration photo for next week and join us then in writing a poem.

Thankful Thursday

After a fairly dismal week last week when it came to thankfuls, the kitties, Dad Tom and I had a week filled with things for which to be grateful

Calista Jo and Kizmet are thankful to all those who commented on their recent birthday posts.

Though Sawyer did have a seizure after starting on his transdermal meds, we are managing to administer them with only a bit of growly protest. He maimed me significantly when I put his collar back on after it somehow was removed, but Dad Tom and I have remained relatively unscathed during twice-a-day applications.

I am extremely thankful to Sam Rasoul, Virginia Delegate from the Thirty-Eighth District, as well as Tonda and Kayla from the DMV in Richmond, who facilitated my obtaining a REAL ID after two failed attempts at our local DMV in Roanoke.

poem best friend thankful: Two women with heads together and smiling. This is the photo of me (on your right) and the kind of best friend everyone should hope to have. I am tremendously grateful to my long-time (40 years) friend, Mary Jane, who accompanied me on an hour-plus roundtrip to the DMV in a nearby town. And, she sat, visited and laughed with me for the two hours I waited to be seen. That is true friendship!

I have finished reading all six books in the Mystery Category of the Cat Writers’ Association annual contest. I am absolutely grateful I finished this task. Three categories completed and one to go.

Dad Tom and I are thankful that our swim/spa has been cleaned, filled and is open. We have been in it once. Now it is so hot (upper 90s) and humid that I don’t even want to go outside. Phooey!

As always, Kitties Blue and I are grateful to each of you who reads and comments on our posts and joins the Sunday Selfies blog hop. Without you, we wouldn’t be here.

We will be participating in the Thankful Thursday blog hop over at Brian’s Home Forever. To join us there, click on the Thankful badge below.

🎂 KIZMET TURNS FIVE ! 🎂

Awww Mondays

Celebrating Kizmet’s birthday seems purrfect for an Awww Monday. She is five years old today. Some of you may remember and some of you found out yesterday that Kizmet joined the Kitties Blue family during the COVID pandemic. She was Dad Tom’s and my Christmas gift to ourselves. I saw her photo on PetFinder and fell in love. Her name was Janet, which seemed like kismet and led to her name being changed to Kizmet.

Kizmet is the friendliest cat we have ever had as part of our family. (Mau comes in a super close second!) She absolutely loves everybody she meets and is not afraid of anything. A few weeks ago, we entertained a friend of a friend, whom Dad Tom and I had never met. Kizmet inspected her and then curled up in her lap for a long nap. She has hopped into the handbags of friends and would have gladly traveled home with them. She is a master at giving kisses and making biscuits on her dad and I until we cry, “uncle!”

Kizmet is a bit sneaky, however, and has escaped on several occasions. She has never left the yard and always comes back inside. A locator is on her collar … just in case she ever gets out and decides to wander. She would probably go home with anyone who invited her to do so. That would be a tragic loss for us.

And, of course, Kizmet is our renowned super meowdel.

Let’s Celebrate

First we have a card.

A 5th birthday card for a grey cat named Kizmet on Awww Mondays.

Our expert baker, Cooper Murphy, managed to make a cake for her. Unfortunately his paws were raw by the time he had a satisfactory one, which came from Wixel. He will explain his difficulties in a separate post.

Grey cat with green eyes atop a aqua and lavender birthday cake.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a party without some kind of noms and beverages. Kizmet specifically requested that we have the yummy nip ice cream again.

A collage of champagne, berry iced tea, ice cream and grilled shrimp.

I definitely will be giving Kizmet some toys from Cat Lady Box that I have secreted away before she could grab and claim them. Probably some fresh nip will be handed out to all the kitties.

Once Kizmet is finished partying with you all, she will be heading over to Comedy Plus to participate in the Awww Mondays blog hop. If you would like to do the same, click on the Awww badge.

Sparks

I wanted a Spark for today that held some relationship to birthdays. I get most of my Sparks from BrainyQuote, so I searched there under the topic of birthday. The Spark I found and liked was under that heading. Though, it doesn’t directly relate to birthdays; I decided it was a good one for today.

Several colors of leaves on an ombre background with the quote, "You take away all the other luxuries in life, and if you can make someone smile and laugh, you have given the most special gift: happiness," by Brad Garrett.

Kizmet brings use so much happiness. What could me more appropriate?

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. It began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

Astrid & Angel Sampy

I could not let this day go by without mentioning that it would also have been Astrid and Angel Sampy’s Ninth Wedding Anniversary. That Sampy has gone to the Rainbow Bridge is truly heartbreaking. They deserved many more years together.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow is the special day when Periwinkle and Stinky set out on a new adventure. Stinky has shared with me what he has planned, and I think you will want to join them for this particular adventure. I know Periwinkle and Stinky will be looking for you. Please don’t let our sweet tabbies down.

Thanks for joining us today.

C.J.’S 13TH BIRTHDAY

Feline Friday

When I started this blog for Kitties Blue in July, 2012, Calista Jo was not a member of the family. She was, however, the first addition to that group on October 4, 2012. Today we will celebrate her birthday and later this year we will celebrate her Gotcha Day. C.J. was the second tortoise shell cat we adopted from Barn Cat Buddies. Astrid was the first.

Portrait of a dilute tortoise shell cat wearing a flower in her fur for Feline Friday and surrounded by a frame with cakes, candies and other confections and the words, “Happy 13th Birthday Calista Jo!”

We have a card for her. And, of course, Cooper Murphy made her a cake. (piZap AI didn’t quite understand when he asked for a dilute tortoise shell cat.)

Birthday cake on Feline Friday for Calista Jo with a kitty wearing a tiara as a cake topper.

We also have some beverages and nip ice cream to accompany the cake.

Drinks and ice cream to celebrate a birthday on Feline Friday.

Calista Jo will be participating in the Feline Friday blog hop hosted by messymimi’s meanderings. To do the same, click on the badge below.

Friendly Fill-Ins

The Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop is hosted each Friday by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). They publish the fill-in sentences on their blogs each Thursday. Calista Jo felt that as it is her birthday, she should get to do the fill-ins. I never argue when one of the Kitties Blue offer to do this. She, however, requested pink italics as opposed to the teal we usually use. Any additional or explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. I avoid Lisbeth  like the plague. (These two have never gotten along. Yesterday, Lisbeth was sitting with me. C.J. showed up. The two started hissing at each other, and Lisbeth left in a huff!)

2. I hope to spend time napping in sunpuddles this summer.

3. My favorite subject in school was naptime.

4. I wish there was a calorie-free treat for adults (cats).

Calista Jo is the champion napper among the Kitties Blue. None of the others rack up as many hours a day in repose as she does.

I want some of those calorie-free treats for adult humans.

Thanks for coming to C.J.’s little birthday party. We hope you had fun.

Tomorrow, we’ll be here with some Caturday Art.

DREAMING & THANKFULS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Time to join Teddy and Angel Sammy over at Two Spoiled Cats for some poetry. Each week, they provide an inspiration photo, and participants write a poem based on the photograph.

Here is this week’s photo followed by my poem.

Woman kissing a lion, which has its paws on her shoulders.

Dreaming

This must be a dream,
as I’d never kiss a lion.
He looks cute and cuddly, but
his paws are huge and teeth giant.

He seems so friendly and
totally without malice, so I am
not frightened or cautious.
There must be something I’m missing.

I am certain to wake up very soon
and discover I am alone in my room—
no wild lions lurking in corners—
just stuffed animals that are harmless

Each week Angel Sammy transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to Teddy for publication. He is one of our favorite poets, so I always recommend you read his poem. Please stop over to Two Spoiled Cats, by clicking on the poetry badge, to check out Sammy’s poem and get the photo for next week’s challenge.

Thankful Thursday

On Thursday, we also like to share things from the past week for which we are thankful. After doing that, we join the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Angel Brian.

Dad Tom has been released from home physical therapy, had his first post-op doctor visit and will begin in-patient physical therapy today. We both are thankful his healing is progressing well.

We both are truly thankful that housekeeper/kitty caregiver, Chris, has been coming everyday to clean litter boxes and handle trash and recycling removal for us!

I am thankful for the birthday greetings, cards and gifts I received from friends earlier this month, especially the adorable present from Teddy and Mom Pam.

Cardboard ginger tabby cat with accessories from FreshCut Paper.

Is this not the cutest thing ever? This adorable ginger tabby, which looks so much like Cooper Murphy, and the accessories are from FreshCut Paper. It is such a clever and sweet gift.

Periwinkle and Stinky want to thank everyone who shared their adventure to London on Tea for Two Tuesday.

As always, Kitties Blue and I thank those of you who are visiting today and those who regularly visit and comment.

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CCLXXVIII

A Surprise Guest

Stinky is extra excited for today’s adventure, as he has a surprise for Periwinkle and for a special friend of theirs. He is waiting by the teleportation tunnel when he hears the familiar whoosh, and Periwinkle comes tumbling out into his waiting paws. He gives her a quick whisker kiss, grabs her paw and immediately leads her back into the tunnel.

They arrive at their destination in record time. When they emerge, Periwinkle looks confused. Waiting for them is their friend Teddy from Two Spoiled Cats. She runs up to him and gives him a big hug and then exclaims, “What a nice surprise. Are you joining us on our adventure today?”

“I am not exactly sure. Stinky sent me a note with coordinates for my tunnel and asked me to meet him here. He didn’t tell me anything else.”

Stinky shouts, “Happy Birthday, Teddy! I thought it would be fun to surprise you on your birthday with a trip to Mardi Gras in New Orleans to celebrate. Today is Fat Tuesday, and I couldn’t think of a better way to party.”

Mardi Gras 2025 poster.

Masks, Beads & a Crown

Stinky tells Periwinkle that he hopes she doesn’t mind returning to Mardi Gras. She claps her paws together and says, “Of course, not. That trip was three years ago, and it was oodles of fun.”

Stinky gives her a hug and says, “Thanks.”

Stinky then gives Teddy a king’s crown and a mask to wear and gives Periwinkle a mask and beads. He also has a mask and beads for himself. “Stinky, these are new masks. Thank you. Hey, we can play with the peacock fevver that is on mine when we get home,” exclaims Periwinkle. Stinky giggles and agrees.

As they are getting on their masks, Periwinkle notices something different about Stinky. “Stinky, did you get new sneakers? Those are really bright!”

“Oh, yes,” Stinky replies. “I got them for special occasions. Do you like them?”

Teddy says, “Well that yellow may be a little girlie, but I think they are pretty cool.” Periwinkle laughs at that and tells Stinky he looks great.

Just then Periwinkle spies a fence covered in beads and starts bouncing up and down and runs toward it. “Stinky, we need more beads!” she shouts.

Stinky very politely tells her that someone has decorated their fence and that the beads are not for sale.

Periwinkle begins to pout but then sees something else that has her excited. “Stinky, do you remember how we took a memory photo with that giant mask when we were here before? Let’s take another one with Teddy.”

Stinky agrees with that plan, and the three tabbies run up the stairs to the balcony where the mask is located.

Krewe of Excalibur

After they take their photo, Stinky explains that the parade today is presented by the Krewe of Excalibur.

“Is there more than one parade, Stinky?” asks Periwinkle.

“Yep, I never realized that, but the parades have been going on for days and days already. There are more than 80 krewes, and many have their own parades. This is the last one for 2025.”

“Stinky, do you know anything about the Krewe of Excalibur?” asks Teddy.

Krewe Excalibur dragon eggs.“Well, it was founded in 2000 and has 250 members, both males and females. It was named for the sword of King Arthur. They have 20 floats, and the procession is lead by costumed knights on horseback. Instead of beads, they give out decorated dragon eggs and wooden shields.

“Here’s a photo of their coat of arms.”

Krewe Excalibur coat of arms.

“That’s cool. Look at the dragons!” says Periwinkle. She adds, “We need one of those, Stinky.”

“We sort of already have one. That’s basically what the logo we put on our posts is.” Periwinkle thinks about that for a few minutes and agrees that will work.

Parade Time

Teddy gets a place of honor on the first float.

Periwinkle and Stinky bounce up and down and wave and shout at Teddy as the float goes by, “Happy Birthday, Teddy. You are King for a day!”

All three tabbies have the opportunity to ride on a couple of other floats and hand out the decorated dragon eggs.

As the parade is coming to an end, Periwinkle says that her tummy is beginning to rumble, and asks if they can get a snack. Stinky replies, “Oh, I have a better idea,” and he takes Periwinkle’s paw and tells Teddy to follow. Moments later they arrive at Cafe du Monde. Stinky tells Teddy and Periwinkle to get a table and he runs to talk to the counter person. He returns to the table. A few minutes later a waiter arrives with a huge cake.

Happy Birthday, Teddy!

Periwinkle and Stinky shout, “Happy Birthday, Teddy. We love you!”

Stinky explains that he didn’t order a traditional King Cake but asked to have Teddy’s cake decorated in the traditional colors.

The tabbies all remove their masks so they can dig into the yummy cake.

Once the tabbies have gorged themselves on cake, they realize that sadly it is time to head home. But before they leave, Periwinkle & Stinky give Teddy a card they made for him.

The tabbies spend several minutes paw hugging and saying their good-byes. Then Teddy enters his teleportation tunnel and Stinky and Periwinkle enter theirs. With simultaneous whooshes they are all off home.

Periwinkle stops at Stinky’s house to say, “hi,” to his parents, visit with his fursibs, and wish Dad Tom good luck on his knee replacement surgery the following day. Once she has done that, she and Stinky spend several minutes whisker kissing and paw hugging. Then with a final blown kiss and wave, Periwinkle enters the teleportation tunnel and is gone in a whoosh.

Stinky looks for a sunpuddle to nap and dream of Periwinkle.

The End

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Each Thursday I enjoy dabbling in a bit of poetry by taking part in the poetry challenge at Two Spoiled Cats. Teddy and Angel Sammy provide an inspiration photo, and participants write a poem to accompany it.

Here’s today’s very silly photo followed by my poem.

A couple shopping in a Walmart store with a goat in a child carrier on the woman's back.

The Shopping Trip

Are these people looking for more clothes for their goat?
Perhaps it needs a new winter coat
or maybe galoshes in case it should rain;
though, putting them on would probably be a pain.

We think this kid looks like he’s grown out of his seat.
So, maybe he’s getting a new one as a special treat.
He must have come along to make certain the fit is right—
Not too roomy nor too tight!

We think this goat may have nibbled on its person’s hair.
It looks shaggy and unkept as if she just doesn’t care.
Shampoo and conditioner could be on the shopping list,
but her best bet would probably be a new hairstylist.

Whatever the reason for this shopping trip,
we think other shoppers are going to flip
and think this couple just a little screwy
when they see a goat where a child should be.

Each week Angel Sammy transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to Teddy for publication. As he is a super talented poet, I always recommend you read his poem. Please stop over to Two Spoiled Cats, by clicking on the poetry badge, to check out Sammy’s poem and get the photo for next week’s challenge.

Thank you so much for joining us today.
