BELATED GOTCHA DAY CELEBRATION

A Few Words on Wednesday

In the past 40 years, I have been the human mom to 22 cats. During that time, I have forgotten numerous birthdays and gotcha days. I have never, however, forgotten the names of any of our fur children nor the order in which they  joined the family. So, that’s something at least.

On Sunday, I missed Audrey and Raleigh’s fourth Gotcha Day. I must thank Mackerull and his human, Laura, for the reminder. Audrey and Raleigh thank those of you who have already left them Gotcha Day wishes.

I honestly do not feel too badly about all of this, as we did celebrate their fourth birthday at the beginning of June. Regardless, we will celebrate a tiny bit today with a card, some cake from Cooper Murphy and beverages, so Dad Tom and I can officially recognize these two.

LAUGH AT LIFE & A FLASHBACK AWWW

Sparks

Two laughing cartoon cats on a background of balloons and confetti with the following quote from Red Skelton, "Live by this credo: have a little laugh at life and look around you for happiness instead of sadness. Laughter has always brought me out of unhappy situations."

I totally agree with Red. We watched him on TV when I was.a kid, and he always elicited laughter from me and my family. Nothing lifts my spirits like a good laugh.

I suspect that these two kitties are laughing at me, as once again I have forgotten a Gotcha Day. Yesterday was Audrey and Raleigh’s. I must thank Mackerull and Laura (Trout Talkin’ Tabbies) for wishing them a happy Gotcha Day on yesterday’s post. We will celebrate later this week.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. It began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

Awww Mondays

As I did miss Audrey and Raleigh’s Gotcha Day, I am including the first photo taken after they arrived here.

Raleigh and Audrey will be heading over to Comedy Plus to take part in the Awww Monday’s blog hop hosted by Sandee. You can join them there by clicking on the Awww badge.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow your two favorite tabby cats will be adventuring again. Periwinkle is in charge of the itinerary, so you’ll be able to find them at Friends Furever. They always have fun and will be looking for you to join them.

Our Angel Sawyer continues to live through these adventures as his alter-ego Stinky, and it would mean so much to Mom Sharon, Noelle and myself if you would continue to follow our two adventurous, cartoon tabby cats.

Thanks for stopping in to see us today. We always appreciate your visits and support.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY & FILL-INS

Feline & Flashback Friday

On June 1st, I received a note from our vet wishing Audrey a happy birthday. Then on June 3rd, I received one wishing Raleigh a happy birthday. Obviously their birthday is the same day, and I never knew the exact date. Usually our vet will assign a date based on what their physical development is when I take them in for the first time. So, it would seem that is somewhere at the beginning of June.

Their Gotcha Day is July 26, 2022. Today for the Feline Friday blog hop, I am sharing a photo taken the day after they arrived here.

At that time, we had not named them and were calling then Kitten #1 and Kitten #2. As this is somewhere close to their date of birth, I asked Cooper Murphy to bake them a cake.

I think Cooper Murphy outdid himself with this cake. Mau definitely would be proud of him.

I hope you will help us celebrate and join us for some grilled shrimpies, cake, beverages and nip ice cream.

Today we are joining the Feline Friday blog hop hosted by messymimi’s meanderings and also the Flashback Friday blog hop hosted by the Five Sibes. To join one or both, click on the appropriate badge below.

Friendly Fill-Ins

The Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop is hosted each Friday by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). They publish the fill-in sentences on their blogs each Thursday. To participate in the hop, click on the badge at the left. I was left to do all the fill-ins myself this week. I used teal italics to complete the sentences. Any explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. My plans for June include getting together with my friend Mary Jane and my friend Tammy. (They are both school nurses and are now off for the summer.)

2. Flying alone to France at age 16 to tour Europe and attend a summer program at the American College in Paris without knowing any of the other participants is the bravest thing I have ever done.

3. I swear by living with multiple cats as a cure for loneliness.

4. As if Trump wasn’t bad enough, most of his appointees also are idiots.

Thanks for stopping in today. We’ll be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art.

ANNUAL VET VISIT & FILL-INS

Feline Friday

Yesterday, Audrey and Raleigh had their annual vet visit. Raleigh definitely did not want to go. We had a plan for catching him and getting him in the PTU, and it worked. Stupidly, we left him alone in the laundry room. He managed to open the zippers from the inside and escape. We did recapture him without too much trouble. I then secured the zippers from the outside making it escape proof.

I think it is obvious from the expression on his face that Raleigh was not a happy camper. He faced the wall when being weighed so he didn’t have to see the readout. Other than that, he was a purrfect gentleman.

Audrey was subdued and only complained quietly on the trip to the office.

Both are healthy; though, they are on the pudgy side. Audrey weighs in at 13.2 pounds and Raleigh at 14.8. When you read fill-in #4, you will find out why Audrey’s nicknames are Hoover, Sherman and Tank.

I had help from Audrey this week, which was a huge surprise. We both used teal italics for our fill-ins.

1. My November to do list includes/getting back to where I was with rehab before I fell and starting to put up Christmas garland.

2. I find the (almost every) song sung by Joe Cocker annoying.

3. Currently, I’m ahead on nothing but behind on rehabing my knee.

4. Audrey: I’m unbeatable at grabbing other kitties’ treats.

Thanks for visiting today. We will be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art.

BELATED GOTCHA DAY CELEBRATION & A SPARK

Awww Mondays

This week the awww in Awww Mondays does not stand for awwwdorable but for awwwful mom. It seems that Friday was the anniversary of Audrey and Raleigh’s Gotcha Day in 2022, and I forgot all about it. In my defense, we have been having so many celebrations, that another was due never entered my mind.

Here’s a reminder of how these two awwwdorable babies looked when they arrived here as kittens.

Two kittens (a pale orange tabby and a torbie) wrapped in a colorful towel on their Gotcha Day.

They were feral kittens living outside, and it had been raining that day. So, we wrapped them up in a big towel. I took them in as a favor to a friend with no intention of adopting them. Well, we all know how that turned out.

And here they are now as three-year-olds!

You know we must have a bit of a party. Cooper Murphy created an awwwmazing cake.

And we have some nip ice cream and beverages as well.

Raleigh and Audrey thank all of you who have already left Gotcha Day best wishes for them.

They will be participating in the Awww Mondays blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. If you click on the badge below, you can join them there.

Sparks

Monday is the day when we share a Spark (basically a positive affirmation) as well. I had hoped to find something that would relate to celebrations, but did not find anything appropriate. So, I have selected one of my favorite topics: happiness.

Graphic sun on an ombre background of orange and yellow with the words, "Don't wait around for other people to be happy for you. Any happiness you get you've got to make yourself," by Alice Walker.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. It began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky Reminder

This is Periwinkle’s week to plan an adventure for she and Stinky. Our fun-loving tabbies always enjoy taking you along, and I know they will be looking for you tomorrow at Friends Forever. Please don’t disappoint them by missing out.

Thanks for joining us today. We’ll be back on Wednesday.
