REPOSTING: OOPS…THEY DID IT AGAIN!

Caturday Art: Sunpuddle Siblings

Last Caturday Mau and Lisbeth shared the spotlight in some sunpuddle art. This Caturday, coming to you from exactly the same spot in the kitchen, we have the unlikely pair from Wordless Wednesday, Sawyer and Astrid. Of course, the camaraderie didn’t last. Astrid perpetrated a sneak attack on Sawyer later in the evening. He jumped back but was not fazed and continued his trip to the kitchen.

I chose this photo from the several I took, as the two were holding paws. You can see this better in the original. I will be sharing other photos from this session in future posts.

To create today’s art, I used Painnt yet again. This is the “Square Bricks” effect. I then added the “Perplex” filter at about 70% from piZap along with the white, deckled-edge border.Sawyer and Astrid are hopping over to visit Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty and join her Caturday Art blog hop. Sunday Selfies Reminder

Another week has flown by, so that means we will be back tomorrow with our blog hop. We sure hope you will share your adorable self with us. Remember all anipals are welcome, regardless of species. So clean those treat crumbs out of your whiskers and put on your best smile, as your friends will be here waiting to admire you.

SUNPUDDLE TUXIES

Caturday Art

Lisbeth and Mau were enjoying a kitchen sunpuddle yesterday when I was able to get two photos of them. I decided to turn each into art for today’s blog hop.

The first was created using the Marble effect from Painnt with the hard light color composition. I added the stamp frame with Ribbet.

The second also was created using Painnt. With that photo, I used the Nucleus effect, also with the hard light color composition. The simple border is from Picasa.

THE ADVENTURES OF STINKY & PERIWINKLE

Introduction

“Hi everybody, I’m…,” Stinky, embarrassed, stops in mid-sentence. “Please forgive me, ladies first.”

Blushing, Periwinkle introduces herself and continues, “Hi, I’m Periwinkle and this is my pal, Stinky.”

The two continue in unison, “We are here today to share some pertinent information about ourselves with you prior to embarking on our first adventure next Tuesday. We have asked one of our narrators to fill you in.

As Periwinkle and Stinky aren’t too great at typing, having no thumbs, it has fallen to me and my co-narrator to write about their adventures. To begin, they thought it would be nice if I tell you a bit about them.

Both Periwinkle and Stinky are grey tabby cats and a tad on the right side of two years old. Stinky happens to be a Manx cat, which means he has no tail. This distresses Periwinkle slightly, as it means, he can play with her tail, but she is unable to reciprocate. I am fairly certain Periwinkle will find other ways to annoy Stinky as their adventures unfold.

In case you are already curious about their unusual names, Periwinkle and Stinky are aliases. They have asked me not to share their given names in the event they might get up to some mischief or shenanigans during their adventures. Personally, I am pleased by this precaution, as I happen to be a family member of Stinky’s, and my co-narrator serves in the same capacity for Periwinkle. The two also are siblings of some well-known Cat Scouts to whom they do not want to bring embarrassment.

Stinky & Periwinkle

Periwinkle & Stinky have selected to wear disguises today to maintain their anonymity.

As an introduction, this is probably enough. You will learn more about Stinky and Periwinkle through their adventures, which will begin right here a week from today. The following adventure will appear on Tuesday (10/22) at Friends Furever. Following that, adventures will alternate between the two blogs on Tuesdays.

“Thanks, Mom…oops, I mean Narrator. Periwinkle and I are anxious to begin our adventures, and we look forward to all our friends joining us! See you next week.”

15TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION FOR MAU & MISTY MAY

Party Time!

Mauricio and Misty May, collectively dubbed The Babies when we brought them home in November, 2004, are celebrating their 15th birthday today. They have gone from being The Babies to senior citizens.

They both are quirky with big personalities and keep Dad Tom and me on our toes. Other than Misty May losing her hearing recently, they remain in good health and, with any luck, will be with us for many more years.

Before we get the party started, Mau and Misty May received a couple of cards they want to share.

From Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats)

From Pipo, Dalton, Benji and Mom Ingrid (Meezer’s Mews and Terrieristical Woofs)

And a card from their dad and me.

Without a cake, this wouldn’t be a party. Getting one here was a little tricky. As most of you know, Mau is the family baker and even has his very own Bake Shop at Cat Scouts. I didn’t want to ask him to bake his own cake, so I had to sneak into his shop in the middle of the night to bake a cake for Misty May and him.

We have lots of noms and drinks so stay as long as you like.

Happy Birthday Babies

We Love You!

GINGER KITTEN & TIGGER ART

Caturday Art

I decided to continue with the kitten theme I’ve had lately and use a kitten photo for today’s art. The original of the photo was taken in 2001 and previously posted in June 2018. To see the original, click here to go the post, “Tigger and Another Ginger Tabby.”

Caturday Art

The kitten in the photo is our original ginger tabby, MacKenzie. If you haven’t met MacKenzie previously or visited The Felines page, here’s a little info about him.

When looking for a kitten in 2001, our neighbor had a friend whose vet had a kitten needing a home. So we adopted MacKenzie without ever meeting him or even seeing a photo. One would think a kitten being adopted from a vet would be in good health, but that wasn’t the case. MacKenzie, which wasn’t his name at the time, had ringworm and an inguinal hernia. So an appointment was made with our vet immediately, and he had surgery for the latter.

When MacKenzie arrived here his name was Cyrus. That definitely wasn’t a name befitting an adorable ginger baby. It sounded more like an old man’s name. After we renamed him, we generally referred to him as Mac or Big Mac. Like our current ginger boy, Mac was no light weight; though, he never reached Cooper Murphy’s substantial size and weight.

MacKenzie was my shadow. He followed me everywhere. In 2011 when I was laid up for six months with a broken leg, he was my constant companion. He was suffering from inoperable stomach cancer at the time, and he passed away that fall. Like all the angel Kitties Blue, he remains in our hearts.

How I Created Today’s Art

I aways like to tell you this in case you like the art and might want to do something similar. Once again, I used the Painnt app. I selected the Flowers effect and “multiply” from the Color Composition section. I then added a wide, black border using Picasa, so I would have the space to add some sort of fancy border. Instead I ended up using on overlay from piZap, which still gave the photo a nice, subdued border. And that’s it…nothing complicated or fancy.

Mac and his pal, Tigger, are joining the Caturday Art blog hop with Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. If you’d like to join him and find creations from your blogging friends, click on the badge below.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

An unknown member of the Kitties Blue will be here tomorrow to host our Sunday Selfies blog hop. As yet, no one has stepped forward to claim those duties. But whichever of the gang is here, they will be looking forward to seeing your bright and happy faces joining in the fun. As you know, all anipals are welcome regardless of species. And Kitties Blue don’t even mind if you link up an Easy Sunday photo of you snoozing.

Have a great Caturday. See you tomorrow.

Remembering Binga

Today Kitties Blue are paying tribute to a terrific tortie who recently left for the Bridge: The beautiful Binga from SparkleCat. We know she could give Mau and Cooper some serious competition in the “character” department. We loved her for her spunk, persistent photobombing of Summer and her abundance of “tortitude.” Just look at the expression on Binga’s face in her photo. She was obviously plotting something to exasperate Summer.

Mom would get excited and come away with a smile on her face whenever she found Binga on the blog.

Like our Lily Olivia and so many others who are already at the Rainbow Bridge, Binga was a Crotchety Cougar, and we think that moniker fit her very well. We are pretty darn certain all those Cougars are up to no good at this very moment.

Binga, you were loved and will be missed. And you will be remembered always.

EIGHTH ANNUAL CAT WORD DOMINATION DAY

Cat World Domination Day

Cat World Domination Day

Who are we kidding…our cats dominate us everyday. Nonetheless, Kitties Blue are joining Summer, Binga and Boodie as they celebrate this special day.

If you are unfamiliar with this holiday, here’s a little history. It began in 2012 on the tenth birthday of Sparkle (Summer’s predecessor at SparkleCat). It was the idea of Sparkle’s human, Janiss, to create a holiday befitting Sparkle’s personality. Sparkle was known for providing advice on how cats could dominate the humans in their lives. And with that, Cat World Domination Day was born. You can see the blog post for the very first Cat World Domination Day at SparkleCat by clicking here. And don’t forget to check out today’s post to see what fun Janiss has cooked up for this year’s celebration.

Sparks

Monday is when many of us share an inspirational quote with you, otherwise referred to as a Spark. Though we are celebrating Cat World Domination Day, I saw this sign on-line and knew I wanted to share it this week.

I will be the first to tell you that I’ve had and continue to have a terrific life and feel blessed and grateful each and everyday. The smiles and laughter, however, have been in short supply lately. So, I needed this and thought some of you might as well.

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie has been taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. Unfortunately, during this break, Annie has been the victim of a hacker. This has continued to keep her off-line and caused her much distress. Please continue to send prayers to Annie and her family as they work to get their lives back to normal. And finally, the handsome and charismatic Cooper Murphy is here to join the Awww

Many of us believe in Annie’s vision: “If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

Awww Mondays

And finally the handsome and charismatic Cooper Murphy is here to join the Awww Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus. To join click on the badge below his photo.

REALITY SHOW HOMEBODY

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #155

Friendly Fill-Ins is a fun blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 and Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). Each Thursday, they post four sentences with blanks to be filled in by participants. The hop is held on Fridays at Four-Legged Furballs. To participate click on the badge at the left.

My completions are in teal italics.

1. 13 years ago, I was still in charge of training, supervising and assigning the International Scorekeepers for USA Volleyball, a position I held from 1996 through 2008.

2. By this time next year, I hope to have this *%&$ing construction project behind us.

3. One word that describes me is homebody. Though either Dad Tom or I need to be home almost full-time due to Sawyer’s seizures and med schedule, I am totally happy to stay home and rarely go out anywhere.

4. If my life were a book or movie, it would be in the live-action unscripted (aka Reality) genre. What else could it be? I live with eight cats!

Feline Friday

Sawyer is snoozing soundly, so he has no idea he’s entering the Feline Friday blog hop at Comedy Plus. I won’t tell him if y’all don’t. If you’d like to join him, click on the badge beneath his photo.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARG

Today Kitties Blue and I are sending extra special birthday wishes to an extra special Cat Lady, the kind, caring and generous Margaret (Marg) Elmendorf from Marg’s Animals.

Marg Birthday

Mau went to work in his Cat Scouts Bake Shop to make a special kitty cake.
