Caturday Art
I decided to continue with the kitten theme I’ve had lately and use a kitten photo for today’s art. The original of the photo was taken in 2001 and previously posted in June 2018. To see the original, click here to go the post, “Tigger and Another Ginger Tabby.”
The kitten in the photo is our original ginger tabby, MacKenzie. If you haven’t met MacKenzie previously or visited The Felines page, here’s a little info about him.
When looking for a kitten in 2001, our neighbor had a friend whose vet had a kitten needing a home. So we adopted MacKenzie without ever meeting him or even seeing a photo. One would think a kitten being adopted from a vet would be in good health, but that wasn’t the case. MacKenzie, which wasn’t his name at the time, had ringworm and an inguinal hernia. So an appointment was made with our vet immediately, and he had surgery for the latter.
When MacKenzie arrived here his name was Cyrus. That definitely wasn’t a name befitting an adorable ginger baby. It sounded more like an old man’s name. After we renamed him, we generally referred to him as Mac or Big Mac. Like our current ginger boy, Mac was no light weight; though, he never reached Cooper Murphy’s substantial size and weight.
MacKenzie was my shadow. He followed me everywhere. In 2011 when I was laid up for six months with a broken leg, he was my constant companion. He was suffering from inoperable stomach cancer at the time, and he passed away that fall. Like all the angel Kitties Blue, he remains in our hearts.
How I Created Today’s Art
I aways like to tell you this in case you like the art and might want to do something similar. Once again, I used the Painnt app. I selected the Flowers effect and “multiply” from the Color Composition section. I then added a wide, black border using Picasa, so I would have the space to add some sort of fancy border. Instead I ended up using on overlay from piZap, which still gave the photo a nice, subdued border. And that’s it…nothing complicated or fancy.
Mac and his pal, Tigger, are joining the Caturday Art blog hop with Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. If you’d like to join him and find creations from your blogging friends, click on the badge below.
Sunday Selfies Reminder
An unknown member of the Kitties Blue will be here tomorrow to host our Sunday Selfies blog hop. As yet, no one has stepped forward to claim those duties. But whichever of the gang is here, they will be looking forward to seeing your bright and happy faces joining in the fun. As you know, all anipals are welcome regardless of species. And Kitties Blue don’t even mind if you link up an Easy Sunday photo of you snoozing.
Have a great Caturday. See you tomorrow.
Mom said to tell you that your artwork is totally amazing and we agree!!! Mom hasn’t been on the puter much lately but that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t think about all of you. We all hope you’re doing great and we hope to chat soon.
Purrs and Hugs……..Hemingway, Steinbeck and Pam
MacKenzie is the cutest name, for a sweet Angel kitty!
Lovely kitty and art!
I’m so glad Mac found a good name and a good home with yoo, Miz Janet and Mr. Tom. The poor lil kid had so many illnesses, but yoo were there for him right to the end. And that’s why yoo are on my list of Wonderpurr hoomons.

It was nice to hear how Mack joined you, and lovely art too.
That’s a sweet story about Mac who lived a happy life with Kitties Blue as long as he could. He had his challenges for sure though bless his heart. Love the artwork – and the fact that little Mac (Big Mac?) was looking right at the camera for his photo that day…….
Hugs, Pam and Teddy too
