Purrs and Prayers
NAUGHTY BOY SELFIE
Sunday Selfies: Week #180
If you missed yesterday’s post, you are unaware that our mom volunteered me as your host for today’s Sunday Selfies post. You probably think that it is because I am totally adorable. But you’d be wrong…not when it comes to my adorableness but for the reason I was volunteered.
Dad Tom and Mom think I was naughty on Friday night and that taking a selfie would be my punishment. First of all, I do not think I was naughty but just a bit impulsive. And secondly, I’m happy to take a selfie. Like I said, “I am adorable.”
Now, look at that face. I am totally innocent looking, so how how could I have been naughty. I only slipped out the front door and went under Mom’s car to play a little, It was dark out, but I swear I didn’t plan to run off anywhere. I was just getting a little fresh air. Okay, I know I can do that on the catio, but I just needed to see if the air is fresher in front of the house. That’s totally reasonable, don’t you think?
I’ll admit my plan had one major flaw. I made my escape at dinnertime! Mom thought if she told me it was dinnertime, I would sprint right back in the house. Nope. I’m not that easy. It took the promise of treats and Dad dangling my wand toy in front of me until he was able to scoop me up. I wasn’t pleased by the outcome, but at least I didn’t miss my dinner. The treats, however, were left on the front porch. he skunks probably found them.
So, anyhoo, I am here as your host today.
Tabby Cat Club
I liked this selfie so much, I used it for my Tabby Cat Club I.D. as well. I wanted to join Cat Scouts with Mau and Cooper Murphy, but Mom says that isn’t going to happen. She claims that Cat Scouts takes a lot of time and effort. She thinks I wouldn’t help her. Hmmm…she’s probably right! I’m a kitten and extremely busy. So I have joined Cooper Murphy at TCC.
Health Update
Again, if you didn’t drop by yesterday, you don’t know that Mau has the eye icks! He went to the vet yesterday morning and is now getting meds and eye ointment along with Calista Jo. Mom and Dad caught his infection a bit more quickly, so he didn’t have a high fever or need fluids. So we could us a few more purrs, prayers and POTP that this does not spread to any others in the furmily. Astrid, Giulietta, Lisbeth and Misty May are healthy, and we’d like to keep it that way.

OUR FIRST SPARKS POST: HAPPINESS
Sparks Blog Hop
Today we are joining Annie’s (McGuffy’s Reader) Sparks blog hop. This is what Annie says about these posts:
Many years ago, it was my intent to post an inspirational thought each Monday. It would be my weekly meditation, and perhaps feed other people’s spirit as well. Life got busy, and this fell by the wayside. Now, I feel a strong need to bring this feature back.
The negative energy in the world has become thick and oppressive. Social media has become a part of this dark, negative storm. There is an obvious universal need for more positive energy and peace. And, we can all be part of this affirmative change.
I hope you will join us. Please link up a positive quote, thought, poem, or verse. Add the badge to your post to invite others. The more, the merrier. I welcome your thoughts. Peace.
Click on the badge below to find links to other posts with inspirational quotes.
As Monday is usually our day off from blogging, we will be taking Tuesday off in the future, unless we having something special to post!
Special Birthday Wishes
Today a very special friend, who just happens to be Mau’s mother-in-law, is celebrating her birthday. As this is Mom Sharon’s (Friends Furever) first birthday since losing her beloved husband Bill, we know it will be a bit of a sad day for her. None of us want this beautiful and wonderful woman to be sad. So, we are sending her our best wishes, oodles of purrs, warm hugs and all our love. Additionally, Mau baked her a cake. He sure hopes she likes it.
Please stop in at Friend’s Furever and wish Sharon a happy birthday.
Purrs, Prayers and POTP Please
A dear, sweet woofie, Astrid, from Four-Legged Furballs is facing surgery to have a toe removed. She had a tumor on her paw, which was removed and a biopsy taken. Sadly, the biopsy showed a grade I malignant tumor (sarcoma). Please stop in at Four-Legged Furballs and leave Astrid some best wishes for a successful surgery and lots of healing purrs and woofs.
And the Winner Is…
Our friend and Mau and Cooper Murphy’s Cat Scout Wolverine Patrol Leader, Gracie. Gracie has the blog Goodness Gracie. She will receive a surprise from Kitties Blue in the mail for being the 40,000th commenter.
Gracie hasn’t been posting much for quite a while, but she joined Sunday Selfies yesterday and is making plans to start blogging more often. Click on the link above if you’d like to visit her blog.
KALEIDOSCOPIC CATURDAY ART
We’d like to apologize for not posting yesterday. Mom has been “down in the dumps” for several reasons, and she just didn’t want to think or write anything for us yesterday. To make up for that, we have two art pieces today.
We also have the Friendly Fill-Ins, we missed yesterday, after our art presentation.
Caturday Art
Here is art piece number one. It was created using LunaPic, Picasa and piZap.
Do you see a cat in this? Do you think one is hidden somewhere in the kaleidoscope? We won’t keep you in suspense. Here is art piece number two.
This is the art which was used to create the kaleidoscope. So, yes there is a cat in the first piece. Giulietta (in a box) to be exact.
We are submitting the kaleidoscope to Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s blog hop. To find links to other art entries or add some of your own, click on Athena’s badge.
Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #72
We let Mom complete these, as we usually do. Her completions are in teal italics.
1. I would never be friends with someone who is a bigot/racist or someone who is cruel to animals.
2. I will never refuse a hug, piece of pie or opportunity to spend time with my kitties or those of others.
3. I have never been to Asia, but I really would like to travel there, especially to the Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in Chengdu, China. Dad Tom is fortunate to have visited several years ago.
4. When it comes to friends, I feel blessed to have a few very good ones.
Annie (McGuffy’s Reader) and Ellen (15 and Meowing) are the hosts for the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop each Friday. Ellen selects the first two sentences to be completed and Annie selects the second two. You can find the the week’s sentences on either of their blogs on Thursdays.
This truly is an excellent way to learn a bit more about your fellow bloggers. To participate and join the blog hop, click on the badge to the left. The hop appears on Annie’s blog.
While here, we’d like to ask you to please send purrs, prayers and POTP too Phoebe, 15 And Meowing’s beautiful spokes cat. She has stage 4 CKD and has not been eating.
Sunday Selfies Reminder
Tomorrow is our blog hop featuring all your precious faces. Participation has fallen off drastically the last few weeks, which makes us very sad. If you have grown bored with the hop, please let us know.
Tomorrow, though one of Kitties Blue will be your host, we will be remembering Zoe from Animal Shelter Volunteer Life. She passed away unexpectedly on September 14. Her dad, Kevin, is a faithful participant in the Sunday Selfies blog hop, featuring adoptable cats from PAWS Connecticut. Even if you don’t join the hop, we hope you will stop in and leave a few kind words for Kevin, Mom Tracey and Sister Gracie.

I THINK I FINALLY HAVE THE HANG OF THIS
Sunday Selfies: Week #160
I think you are really going to like today’s selfie. It is my best one ever. I think I am finally learning.
I tried to convince Mom that she didn’t need to fancy this up. But she just can’t help herself. I think I would have looked fine with just a simple non-distracting border. What do you think? Do you think Charles will like it?
I guess I could have smiled, however. I will try for that next time. Mom says I have “bedroom” eyes. I don’t know what that means. If I am in the bedroom, my eyes are closed, as I am napping.
Now it’s your turn to show us your selfies. Come one, come all. This blog hop has the cutest anipals on the Internet, and you know you want to be part of it. Here are a few pointers for entering.
By now most of you know how this blog hop works, but if not, here are some guidelines:
- The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
- You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
- You do not need to post on Sundays to join.
- The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
- Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.
Prayers Please
As we have a short post today, Mom and Mau asked me to remind everyone that Friends Furever Allie (Mau’s wife) and Raz’s daddy, Bill, continues to need your purrs, prayers and POTP. He remains in the hospital on a ventilator. If we all get together with constant prayers and the loudest purrs we can muster, maybe we can get him home again where he belongs.
Purrs and paw-pats, Lisbeth
C.J.’s SAD SELFIES IN REMEMBRANCE OF MITALEE
Sunday Selfies: Week #156
I asked to do the Sunday Selfie today to be here as we honor our friend, angel Mitalee. Unfortunately, I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I took about eight selfies, and these two were the best I could do. Sorry I look so grumpy! I am not really cranky but just very sad that our sweet friend now has her wings.
In Memory of Mitalee HoneyBee
This sweet, little cat (the Queen of her family) left for the Bridge on July 28. It hurt all our hearts so much; though, we knew her health was failing. By now most of you have probably left your condolences for her family, but if not, all Kitties Blue and our mom hope you will at Critters in the Cottage.
Mitalee, we pray you are running free with all your friends, including our angel, Fiona. We miss you and love you. You will remain in our hearts always.
Hop Along With Us
It’s time to add your selfie to today’s Sunday Selfies blog hop. I am certain all of you will do a better job with your photo than I did with mine. We love making new friends, and so all anipals are welcome regardless of species. The link to add your selfie to the hop is below. If you cannot join us today, that’s okay. The hop remains open through Thursday. And if you need our mom to add your selfie for you, just let us know in the comments. Also, if you’d like to have the hop show up on your selfies post, the code is below. Finally, would you be so kind as to post our badge or link back to The Cat on My Head.
If you missed our post yesterday, you may not know that Mauricio and Cooper Murphy have headed to Yosemite for a week at Cat Scouts Summer Camp. This means Mom will not be able to take us visiting this week as much as we would like. She’ll be helping the boys with their scouting activities. Please do not abandon us during this time. It is only a week after all. Many thanks.
Purrs and paw-pats, Calista Jo
p.s. Please continue to send your prayers, purrs and POTP to Allie and Raz‘s daddy, Bill, who remains hospitalized and on a ventilator.
PURRS, PRAYERS & POTP PLEASE
Wordy Wednesday
This is not the post we planned for today. We had intended to share some tie and bobble hat photos, which would have needed no words. But then Mom found out some dear friends of ours are unwell.
Esme and Mitalee from Critters in the Cottage are seriously in need of all the purrs, prayers and POTP each of you can send. The kitties and woofies at the Cottage are especially good friends of ours. LP (Mum Sophie) is a special friend to our mom. We know she is very sad and needs purrs, prayers and POTP as well.
Mitalee has been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in her stomach.
Esme has been diagnosed with a tumor on one of her lungs.
We all know how difficult and heartbreaking it is to have one kitty (or any furry family member) ill and suffering. To have two at the same time is devastating. This is what happened with our angels, Madison and MacKenzie. So we are aware of just how much Mum Sophie needs your support. Please let her know she and her sweet and lovely girls are in your thoughts and prayers.
Though this is not a true Wordless Wednesday post, we are entering our usual Wordless Wednesday blog hops in an attempt to let as many bloggers as possible know about this need.
We are sending our love, purrs, prayers and POTP to all the Critters in the Cottage and especially Mum Sophie, Esme and Mitalee. Thank you for doing the same.
Purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
DOING THE HAPPY DANCE!
Wordy Wednesday
We are breaking our silence today to send out a special news bulletin!
Fiona visited Dr. Neel yesterday to have her PCV (packed cell volume) and weight checked.
If you don’t recall, Fiona had an injection last week with medication (Darbepoetin Alfa) provided by Mom Ellen (15AndMeowing) to help her anemia. Her PCV last week was 17. Her current PCV is 22.5. Thus, the happy dance!
She also maintained her weight of 5.9 pounds. We hate that her weight is so low, but pleased it didn’t drop additionally this week.
She’ll return to see Dr. Neel again next Tuesday for another PCV check and possible injection. We’ll let you know how that goes.
Please keep Fiona in your prayers. And please, please add our best pal, Sammy (onespoiledcat), to your prayers and send him some POTP. He spent Tuesday night in the hospital getting IV fluids and some other treatments. Sammy has hyperthyroidism and kidney problems. We love him so much. We know many of you do as well so hope you’ll share.
Please feel free to use our graphic on your blog.
Tomorrow will be an extra special Thanksgiving post. We know everyone will be busy with family, but please drop in if you can find a few minutes.
Purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
PRAYERS AND THANKS
Prayers Please
We usually purrticipate in the Friendly Fill-Ins each Friday. However, both Mom and all of us were having a very difficult time figuring out what we waned to say, so we are going to skip this week. We hope our hosts, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader) and Ellen (15 And Meowing) will forgive us.
Instead we’d like to ask you to send some purrs, prayers and POTP to two of our ginger tabby friends.
Toby from Toby’s Wrecking Crew has been feeling poorly for the past few days. He’s off to the vet today. We are keeping our paws crossed that no serious health issue are found.
Our friend and Mau’s Cat Scout pal, Wally from The Island Cats, is suffering from pancreatitis. He had to spend several days in the hospital. He is home now under the care of the lady with yellow hair (Mom Sue). Unfortunately he had to have a feeding tube inserted in his neck and is on several medications. The Island Cats are taking a little time off from blogging so Mom Sue can take care of Wally. She has promised to leave updates on their Facebook page.
Veterans Day
Finally, Kitties Blue want to thank all of those Americans, who have served in the U.S. military, for their service.

DEALING WITH DISAPPOINTMENT
Fiona and Giulietta’s Vet Visit
I’d like to apologize to Mom Ellen (15AndMeowing) and Mom Annie (McGuffy’s Reader) for not pawticipating in Friendly Fill-Ins his week. Mom is allowing Giulietta and me to write this post about our visit yesterday to Dr. Neel. That’s right, Giulietta had to come with me. She wasn’t happy, but it was nice to have the company. We were able to serenade the humans with some nice duets on the way there and home.
But enough of this preamble. I know you are all waiting for my report. In a nutshell…it stinks! Mom mentioned in a post a few days ago that she thought I was puny. She was right.
Though not good, my BUN had gone down a bit last month. I was not so fortunate this time. It has jumped up 29 points to 158. That’s the highest since my diagnosis last December when it was 157. Though, I have been eating the K/D kibble and getting my phosphorus binder, my phosphorous jumped way up as well. And I lost a half of a pound. All-in-all, not a good report.
I believe that I am probably on the downhill slide and losing the battle against the CKD. Nonetheless, I am happy (except for having to get subQ fluids five days per week and taking yucky medications), not in any pain and love being doted on by Mom and Dad.
Dr. Neel is quite surprised and pleased that I haven’t gotten my wings yet. She says that most kitties with numbers as high as mine were at diagnosis only survive a few months. Mom is praying that I can make it through the upcoming holidays. I am going to give it my best effort.
Before I turn this post over to Giulietta, here is our photo from the exam room. We were totally chill for the entire hour we were there. I am not too sure why we were ignoring each other.
Anyhoo…I sure could use some purrs, prayers and POTP if you don’t mind.
Thanks, purrs and paw-pats, Fiona
Wow that girl can go on and on. But please do send some good thoughts her way. I love her very much and will be terribly lonely when she leaves us.
So, I had to see Dr. Neel today as I have been having litter box issues again. I’ve also developed hyperesthesia and licked off some of my booty furs. Mom thought both issues were probably stress-related since my sis is sick. She had inspected me for fleas and flea dirt to rule that out as a reason. She couldn’t find any. When I went to the back at the vet to have my pedicure and a bit of lady-scaping in my nether regions, Dr. Neel found a flea. She brought me back to the exam room and turned me over. Mom saw a flea on my tummy. (When Fiona and I got home, we all had Advantage applied.) We’re hoping that will take care of most of my issues.
For me the worst part of the visit was the weigh-in. Like any lady, I refuse to tell my weight. I have, however, gained two pounds since April. I swear I don’t eat too much. It’s just that I eat calming food, and it has a tendency to make us kitties gain weight. I am now being put on a diet. Mom and Dad will be phasing in a new food that is supposed to have calming effects as well as be lower in calories.
I also need to get more exercise. I have never been interested in playing. I’ll pawticipate in a play session for a couple of minutes, but I am more of a spectator. Mom has ordered me a harness, and it looks like I’ll be taking walks once I get accustomed to it. Pffft! I’m not fat, I’m just a bit zoftig and super floofy.
So that’s my tale of woe. Not so bad when I think about my sis.
Thanks for visiting us. Please pray for my sisfur.
Purrs and paw-pats, Giulietta
