Awards

TUXIE TUESDAY WITH CAT SCOUT MAU

Hi efurrybuddy,

cougarmauThis is going to be a short post just to let all our furiends know that I was recently purrmoted to the rank of Cougar at Cat Scouts. I was among the first group of Cats to reach this rank. The others are all my super good furiends, and most of you know them: Raz from Friends Furever, Sammy from onespoiledcat, Gracie from Goodness Gracie, and Wally from The Island Cats. We are all members of the Worldwide Wildcats Troop.

mauWe just finished Quest 2 at Cat Scouts. We had so many pawticipants that we crashed the server. It was frustrating, but still fun. I won some awards and other stuff that I will tell you all about in another post. I am a member of the Wolverines Patrol but for the Quest I pawticipated with Wally’s Warriors.

My typist (Mom) says she is operating with one brain cell after the intensity of the Quest, and her paws are worn out from typing, which is why we will post about the Quest on another day.

Me sleeping on Mom at the conclusion of the Quest. She's wearing her "Cat Wants Attention" t-shirt. MOL!

Concatulations to all the Quest 2 pawticipants and my fellow Cougar Scouts.

HAPPY PURRDAY WITH A GIFT FOR OUR READERS

F&G4th

Giulietta and Fiona want to share something with efurrybuddy visiting today, not just in celebration of their Purrday but in anticipation of Spring as well. As we had a combo of snow, sleet and freezing rain yesterday, we are so anxious for Spring to arrive.

polarvortex2We know that all of our furiends are just as sick and tired of Winter as we are, so for efurrybuddy visiting us today, we have this very special Badge/Award! It has no rules. Feel free to pass it on to anyone you like as we think just about efurryone on the planet deserves to have it. Just please ask your recipients to state that it originated right here at The Cat on My Head.

Please stop by and visit My Three Moggies today as well. Our furiends, Archie, Oscar, Henry and Mom Michelle are featuring us on their blog, Facebook, Twitter and at showmeCats as their Fur Friends of the Month.

Purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

THANKFUL THURSDAY: AND THE AWARDS GO TO…

Kitties Blue!

We are embarrassed by how many awards we have received and not reported about. We love each and efurrybuddy who thinks highly enough of us to pass on an award and are humbled by just how many of you there are. So without further apologies, here they are.

SunshinePicnicAward

We received this reason to have a pawty, The Sunshine Picnic Award, from our good friend Sammy at onespoiledcat. Since we have some sun today, we think it is the purrfect time to invite 10 special friends for a picnic and and suggest things they can bring with them. Sammy will be our Special Guest and only has to bring his furrabulous self.

The invitees are: The Florida Furkids, Allie (Mau’s girlfriend), Ellie, Raz and Cubby from Friends Furever. Please bring the warmth of Florida. Our sisfur, Nylablue (Nylablue and Sherri-Ellen’s Purrfect Pad): Please bring Twinklestar. We haven’t seen her in a while. Oh yeah, and some of that nommy candy made from the maple syrup in Canada. Our brofur, Bailey (Bailey Boat Cat): Please bring your turtles, as it might be one of the last times we get to see them. We promise not to make turtle soup. Spitty (Spitty Speaks) who we serve as faithful Viceroys of Treasure Island: Please bring some fresh Sourdough bread and Dungeness crabs. We know you already have this award, but we hope you will come anyway and bring these noms. Mom says she has the green papers to pay you back. Clooney and Neyteri (Clooney’s Num Num Fund): Please bring noms of your choice. We do like Temptations. And finally, Timmy, Toby, Einstein, Rumpy, Buddy-Budd, Miss Fitz and Mr. Buttons (Tomcat Commentary by Tim): Will you please bring Grilled Sticky Buns with Butter and some Hot Nip Chocolate like you brought to Campfire. That was one of the bestest desserts, according to Mau.

If any of you want to have a picnic (if you haven’t already) and pass along the award, you can invite any or all of us (Kitties Blue) as your special guest(s) and invite others to bring the picnic fixings.

The Lighthouse Award

The Lighthouse Award — A Blog That Brings Light To A Dark World. We don’t know if we do that or not but are so grateful to Beverly and Sophie at moggiepurrs for passing this along. It does have some rules and guidelines:

1. Display the Award logo on your blog.

2. Write a post and link back to the blogger who nominated you.

3. Inform your nominees of their nominations.

4. Share three ways that you like to help people.

a) Mom volunteers for a TNR/Rescue group, Barn Cat Buddies. We got her involved in this because Lisbeth, Astrid and Calista are all alums of this group; b) Mom and Mau pawticipate in Service Projects through Cat Scouts; c) Mom tries to pay it forward by helping new bloggers when they have questions or problems she has encountered and solved.

5. There is no limit to the number of people you can nominate. We nominate: Animal Shelter Volunteer Life, Brian’s Home and Cat in the Fridge  for their efforts in finding homes for kitties, Piranha Banana for being a therapy dog, Waffles from Glorgirly for being a therapy cat, Gracie from Goodness Gracie for all the hard work she does at Cat Scouts as Patrol Leader of the Wolverines.

sunshine-award-sunflower frum Musings By Marty

This bright and beautiful Sunshine Award came from our dear sisfur, Nylablue. We are supposed to pass this on to ten blogs that inspire us. Nylablue has already passed this on to several of those we would have selected, but we think these are some wonderpurr choices: Angel Prancer Pie, Manx Mnews, A Tonk’s Tail, Athena, Cat Goddess, Eric and Flynn’s Adventures, Cat Chat with Caren & Cody, CATachresis, Colehaus Cats, My Three Moggies and Cat from Hell.

The Field Of Flowers Award

We are excited and honored to be nominated for the Field of Flowers Award by The Kitty Corner and also from Living With Loulou. We usually have some Daffodils and Tulips blooming by now, but with the never ending Polar Vortex, we don’t think that will be happening any time soon, so this colorful award is a delight to have. The rules for this award are as follows:

1.   Thank the blogger who nominated you.

2.   Display the award on your blog.

3.   Nominate 7 other blogs and let everyone know why you are presenting them with the award. The reason we are nominating these blogs is because they make us happy and deserve bouquets.

4.   Tell the 7 nominees of their nomination.

We are happy to be nominating and sending flowers to: Friends Furever, Critters in the Cottage, The Kitty Cat Chronicles, Twinkletoe Tails, Furries of Whisppy, moggiepurrs and Tomcat Commentary by Tim.

We were super tickled to receive this Excellence Award from Nissy at Nerissa’s Life. After all, his is one of the most excellent blogs we know. Our nominees are Nylablue and Sherri-Ellen’s Purrfect PadonespoiledcatFriends Furever, Savannah’s Paw Tracks, Katnip Lounge, Bailey Boat Cat, Spitty Speaks and Colehaus Cats.

And finally, just today we received two awards. The first, the Most Influential Blogger award, is from our friend Austin Towers from CATachresis. He said that somewhere along the way, the rules for this award had been lost. That suits us just fine, as we are pretty sure you have quit reading by now. There are some very influential bloggers out there to which we are passing along this award: Sparkle he Designer Cat; Chronicles of Zee and Zoey; Brian’s Home; GlorgirlySometime’s Cats Herd You, Katie Isabella and Stunning Keisha.

And from our friend Timmy (link above), we received this award. We do already have it but are most appreciative of his having thought us worthy.

We would promise you that we will never get this behind again, but we have absolutely no control over the human’s priorities, and we know that most of you have the same problem and so will understand.

If any of you don’t accept awards or if any of you already have the award we have given you, we apologize for the inconvenience. Just remember that we are recognizing you in this way ’cause we think you are pawtastic!

Purrs and Paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

p.s. Please check back with us on Sunday if you want more information on that mousey!

THANKFUL THURSDAY WITH MATCH.CAT UPDATE

We all are so super thankful today. We have dates for the Queen of Hearts Dance! We will not reveal ourselves dressed in our ball gowns or our dates in their tuxes*, but we do want to introduce y’all to our dates.

Image 5Misty May will be accompanied by Mau’s very handsome friend and fellow Cat Scout, Wally, from The Island Cats.

Image 8

The stately Leopold from Critters in the Cottage will accompany Lily Olivia to the Dance. Though he is still recovering from recent surgery, he has promised they can have a few dances and not spend all their time chaperoning the youngsters.

03-Texas

Lisbeth was so tickled to hear from her Howl-o-ween Ball date, Texas, from Texas, A Cat on New York Austin and find out that he wanted to accompany her to the Dance.

Image-002

Astrid will be on the arm of the green-eyed Tuxie, Sampson, from Kitty Cat Chronicles. Wait until you see them. They make the cutest couple!

Image 3-001

Our very young lady, Calista Jo, will be on the arm of Zorro from Swiss Cat Blog. Mom expects they will be having more of a play date than a dance date.

Image 9-001We bet most of you recognize this handsome man-cat and self-proclaimed King, Spitty from Spitty Speaks.  Our inseparable sisfurs, Giulietta and Fiona, are honored that he will be their date for the evening. They are still pinching themselves as he could have asked any of the many gorgeous girl/lady-cats who have dated him.

Image 2Of course, Mauricio is attending with his girlfriend, the most lovely and sweet Birman beauty, Allie, from Friends Furever.

Please don’t forget to check back on February 14 to see all the couples dressed and bejeweled for the Queen of Hearts Dance and then pop over to the Dance at Madi and Mom to see all the attendees.

* For several days, Mom wasn’t sure that she was happy that our plea for dates had turned out so well. She was up to her eyeballs in ball gowns and tuxedos trying to get us all dressed and our photos made to submit to the Dance committee. We girls sure had fun picking out dresses and even changing our minds a couple of times.

We also have an award for which we are thankful today.

We received this most pawsome award from our dear friends the Florida Furkids from Friends Furever and thank them from the bottom of our furry little hearts. Mau’s lovely girlfriend Allie is a Florida Furkid. We have linked to them above.

Under Mau’s Rules we must pass this award to his Worldwide Wildcats Troop Leader, Sammy at onespoiledcat, but he’s the one who gave it to Friends Furever. And we must pass it to Allie, but she gave it to us.

Next it should go to our honorary sisfur and brofur, Nylablue from Nylablue and Sherri-Ellen’s Purrfect Pad, and Bailey from Bailey Boat Cat. To or knowledge neither have this and so we are passing it on.

Additionally, the girls want to pass it on to all their Queen of Hearts Dance dates:

Wally – The Island Cats  Leopold – Critters in the Cottage  Texas – Texas, A Cat in New York Austin   Sampson – Kitty Cat Chronicles  Zorro – Swiss Cat Blog  Spitty – Spitty Speaks

We do have a couple of other things for which we are thankful, but we don’t want them to get lost in the shuffle, and we don’t want them to detract from what we are listing here, so we will save them until next week.

Purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

THANKFUL THURSDAY WITH GIULIETTA AND THE RED DOT

It is a known fact that I DO NOT play! I shun the Play Circuit track toy and the Cat’s Meow. Feather toys annoy and scare me. And forget the red dot. It moves too fast, and too many of my fursibs are charging through the house in a pack trying to catch it. And they don’t care who is in their path. At best, I will sit on the stairs and watch them.

But wait…what is this? It’s a red dot. It’s moving about the room all on its own. Mom is not controlling and whipping it around sending all the morons other cats into a frenzy. How could this be?

Here it comes…I'm ready!

Here it comes…I’m ready!

Hey, look everybody. I caught the dot.

Hey, look everybody. I caught the dot. (Please forgive the blurry quality of this photo. Mom’s photographic abilities are not always up to par.)

Hey, it’s a new toy, and it generates a slower and more erratic red dot. Mom is no where in sight and my competition seems to be holding back a little. Dot, do you want me to play? You do. Well, maybe just a little.

Wow, this is fun. Watch out dot, here I come!

Hey, dot, where did you go?

Hey, dot, where did you go?

This Independent Gyrating Red Dot Generator* (my name for it) makes a crazy whirring sound. When I hear it, I come running from wherever I am in the house. I think the other cats hold back a little (though they do play sometimes) when they hear this ’cause most of them don’t like strange noises. Yippee for me ’cause I don’t mind! I will even let Chris (our housekeeper) bring the vacuum right up to my toes without budging.

Unfortunately, Calista Jo decided she wanted to play during this particular session. As she is young and rambunctious, I deferred to her pouncing playfulness.

Calista watches the red dot draw near, and...

Calista watches the red dot draw near

…and sweep right across her paws.

…and sweep right across her paws.

Sorry, red dot! It was fun while it lasted and, I know we will be together again soon.

Purrs and Paw-pats, Giulietta

Blog of The Year 2013 AwardNow for a few words from Mom: I had promised a while back to award the 2013 Blog of the Year Award to anyone needing just one star in order to have all six. I heard from only one kitty, Oui Oui from Twinkletoe Tails. So…here is your final star, Oui Oui. And hint, hint…we only need one more star to have all six as well.

Several of you left comments on our attention-getting Easy Like Sunday: Full Stools post about where your mind went (and it wasn’t to furniture) when you read that headline. That’s pretty much what I expected and was surprised more of the commenters didn’t say that.

Our bag lady, Astrid, wanted me to tell you about her bag. It’s the only one she has selected for napping. I believe this is because it is the insulated grocery bag which has all the Barn Cat Buddies adoption binders, paperwork and thank you notes. I believe she thinks by sleeping in that bag she can prevent me from working on anything that has to do with other kitties.

Product Details* This is the toy I recently purchased for the kitties.

FroliCat BOLT Interactive Laser Pet Toy

A final few words from Giulietta: Mom was not being as generous as she wants you to believe. Though I am especially grateful, I know she purchased this because she is just plain L-A-Z-Y. One of her New Year’s Promises was to actively play with us everyday. Now she and Dad think they can turn this thing on for several 15-minute sessions per day, and we will all be purrfectly happy, and she will be keeping her promise.

Note to Mom: N-O-T!

THANKFUL THURSDAY WITH A NOD TO TEXAS

fantablulous awardWe recently got these two super cool awards from Texas of Texas, a Cat in New York, Austin. To be more precise this first one is for Lisbeth, who was Texas’ date for the Howl-o-ween Ball. She was quite thrilled to receive her very own award and delighted with its purple color. Thank you Texas! Supposedly, there are no Rules with this award, but we do want to pass it on to some friends.

Based on Mauricio’s Rules, we are required to give this to Sammy (onespoiledcat), Allie (The Florida Furkids at Friends Furever), Nylablue (Nylablue and Sherri-Ellen’s Purrfect Pad) and Bailey (Bailey Boat Cat). We know our sisfur, Nylablue, already has this one, but we hope none of the remainder of you have received it yet.

We also want to nominate: Halle, Calle and Sukki (Jacqueline’s Cat House), Sophie (moggirpurrs),  Moosey, Gracie and Zoe (Animal Shelter Volunteer Life), Maxwell, Faraday and Allie (A Tonk’s Tail), all the furries, but especially Boomer and Tutu ’cause they look like Lisbeth and Astrid (Furries of Whisppy)  and finally, Noodle (It’s Noodle).

He also awarded us the Cracking Crispmouse Bloggywog Award. We love what this one represents. It does have a few rules to follow.

cracking crispmouse awardHere they are:

1. To be eligible for the award, a bloggywog must spread one or more of joy, peace, hope and love.
2. Anyone receiving the award may, if they wish, pass it on to any other anipal bloggywogger whose bloggywog satisfies rule number one.
3. There is no minimum or maximum limit on the number of furiends you can pass the award onto: You can be as Scroogy or as generous as you like. We have no intention of being Scrooges, as we wouldn’t exist without all of our terrific friends and followers.

Once again, passing on to Sammy, Nylablue, Allie and Bailey (links above). The others we are passing this to are: Speedy (Speedy then Cheeky House Bunny), Timmy (Tomcat Commentary by Tim), Oui Oui, Julie, Carl and Mica Minnie Moo (Twinkletoe Tails), Nellie, Kozmo and JoJo (The Cat from Hell), Austin Towers (CATachresis) and Flynn (Eric’s and Flynn’s Adventures).

Blog of The Year 2013 AwardAnd finally, also from Texas, another star for the 2013 Blog of the Year Award. This now gives us Five Stars. Click here to see our previous nominations for this award. If you are needing your sixth star for this award, please let us know in Comments, and we will pass this on to you in our next post.

Our humans are thankful for something today as well. The frozen pipes are thawed and both hot and cold water are now running in the kitchen without any leaks or bursts! Thank COD! And they don’t have to wash the dishes in the bathroom sink anymore.

Purrs and hugs Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

THIS, THAT AND SOME OTHER STUFF

Mom became so flummoxed during the holidays that we have been lackadasical with visiting our friends, reading and commenting. And then West Host threw her into a tizzy when they shut down WordPress sites yet again. We now fear we will never get caught up and back on track. And it is only the third day of the year. Sheesh. This sucks. The Thankful Thursday post we had planned for yesterday never got written so here we are trying to cram a bunch of miscellaneous things into one post.

First up, Mauricio insists on showing you two photos of his gorgeous, true love, Allie. She is wearing the bling he sent her for Christmas and lounging on the blanket he also sent. He cannot believe (neither can we) that he has such a beautiful, talented and thoughtful girlfriend, and keeps asking us to pinch him (which we gladly do) to see if he is dreaming.

We can’t imagine anybody exists who follows us and doesn’t already follow The Florida Furkids (Allie, Ellie, Raz and Cubby) on the blog, Friends Furever, but if you don’t, please click on the link below, where our award nominations are listed, and check them out. You especially need to drop by and give Raz a big paws-up for being selected, along with our friend Sushi from Sushi’s Diary, as Cat Scout of the Year.

Mau will be posting more about Cat Scouts on Man-Cat Monday.

We have gotten the Sunshine Award from both Me You and Zu (way back in mid-December) and most recently from Playful Kitty of which we, especially Mom, are deeply grateful. She is a complete sourpuss when it is grey and cloudy!  Wait…that doesn’t sound right! We are the pusses, and we are never sour. She is a complete nudge!

The one on the left we received from Me, You and Zu…nice and sunny with a lovely blue sky! Playful Kitty actually received the Sunshine Award from three different sources and posted three different graphics, so we think we can pick which one we want, and we pick this second one with more bright blue skies.

As you might expect, these magnificent awards come with some rules. We are arbitrarily choosing the ones from Playful Kitty!

The Sunshine Award Rules

Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog. We have done this above.

List 11 facts about yourself. Mom always lets us list one fact each, which we are going to do and she is going to list three about herself. Now, we aren’t thinking that is very fair…but she is the typist!

  1. Lily Olivia is a calico and has used her right as an ornery and persnickety cat to refuse to comment.
  2. Mauricio has accepted the position of Troop Worldwide Wildcats Assistant Leader. (Okay…so one little thing about Cat Scouts. After all, it is a big deal to him.)
  3. Misty May, like Mom, wishes she lived somewhere with warmer year-round temperatures!
  4. Giulietta does not like being coaxed to play with the new feather wands from Santa. She hisses and growls if one comes near her.
  5. Fiona has been sneaking into the living room with Mom to admire the Christmas tree and nap while Mom reads. This occurs because Mom can’t stand listening to her whine and scratch at the door. Both of them think they are putting something over on the rest of us, but we are wise to their ways, and payback is coming.
  6. Astrid has decided that she does love her Dad and has been trading off laps and sleeping in his some of the time. She was afraid of him for a very long time.
  7. Lisbeth knocked over Twinkle’s Tree this morning. Mom was pretty impressed that we made it all the way to the New Year without this happening previously! It now is standing even more crooked than usual.
  8. Calista Jo is mad at Mom ’cause she thought she was going to become a Cat Scout (dang…there it is again!) this year, but Mom says with Mau’s new responsibilities as Assistant Leader, she cannot keep up with two cats in Scouts.
  9. Mom’s turn: She received two huge WordPress tomes for Christmas with the hope of learning how to do some other things on our blog!
  10. She has made a written promise with herself to actively play with us everyday. Yippee!
  11. Her favorite author is Pat Conroy. She says that no one on the planet writes better prose. Dad gave her his recently published memoir for Christmas, and she has promised herself the pleasure of reading everyday.

Nominate ten other blogs to receive the award. This is always the hardest part as we love every blog we followEven though we received this from two different sources, we are only nominating eleven and not twenty. If you already have this award in one of these two formats, we apologize for any inconvenience.

Mauricio has put down his paw, and though it is not the biggest one in the house (Giulietta has that honor), he says that any awards we get will be passed on to Allie (his girl-friend) and Sammy (his WWW Leader) Nylablue (our Honorary Sisfur) and Bailey (our Honorary Brofur), whether they already have it or not. There’s no arguing with a determined Cat Scout!

Clooney’s Num Num Fund * Sushi’s Diary * CATachresis * Brian’s Home * Fur Everywhere * Catladyland * Colehaus Cats * Florida Furkids * onespoiledcat * Bailey Boat Cat * Nylablue and Sherri-Ellen’s Purrfect Pad *

Announce the nominations to the nominees. It is on our To Do List for today.

Blog of the Year Award 3 star jpegAnd finally, as if this post isn’t way too long as it is, we want to update you on the Blog of The Year Award. We are now up to three stars. We received the award originally from Kuruk at Haiku by Ku. We awarded this to Nellie at The Cat from Hell who passed it back to us to give us our second star. And we received our third star from Sophie at moggiepurrs. Thanks all. To see who we passed this award to, click here.

If you have made it to the end of this post, without any further ado or doo-doo, we bid you adieu for today with thanks to all our friends and followers for making 2013 a spectacular year for Kitties Blue.

Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

THANKFUL THURSDAY: AWARDS FROM NISSY & KURUK

We recently received this excellent award from Nissy at Nerissa’s Life. He developed it in honor of receiving 75,000 blog hits. What an amazing achievement.

And to make it even nicer, it’s easy to accept. Just four things to do.

1. Post the award on your blog.

2. Thank the blogger giving it to you. If you don’t already follow them, you can follow by e-mail or feed or a reader or any other method available.  That even includes just checking in with them every day or so if they don’t have any kind of following method set up. Thank you Nissy from the bottom of our furry little hearts!

3. Pass along the FRIENDS & FOLLOWERS award to a few readers whom you know already follow you.

Here are our selections:

* Wally, Ernie and Zoey at The Island Cats * Allie, Ellie, Raz and Cubby at Friends Furever * Nylablue at Nylablue and Sherri-Ellen’s Purrfect Pad * All the gang at The Furries of Whisppy  * Moosey, Gracie and Zoe at Animal Shelter Volunteer Life * Flynn at Eric and Flynn’s Adventures *

We have so many other much appreciated followers we could pass this to, but many already received the award from Nissy, and we would like our recipients to have blogs available to nominate.

4. Let the bloggers to whom you’ve given the award know you did so.

We are absolutely over the moon to have received the 2013 Blog of the Year Award from Kuruk at Haiku by Ku.

Blog of the Year Award 1 star jpeg

Here are the rules for this one:

1. Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2013’ Award.

2. Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there are no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ the blog(s) with their award.

3. Let the blog(s) that you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the instructions with them – (please don’t alter the instructions or the badges!)

4. Come over and say hello to the originator of the ‘Blog of the Year 2013’ Award via this link – http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/blog-awards-2/blog-of-the-year-2013-award/

5. You can now also join the ‘Blog of the Year’ Award Facebook page – click the link here https://www.facebook.com/groups/BlogoftheYear/ and share your blog posts with an even wider audience.

6. And as a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog … and start collecting stars…

Since we know everyone is super busy, and this post is already long, we will list our selections for this award in our next post and tell you a little about each of them at that time. Oh…the suspense!

Thank you again to Nissy and Kuruk for these pawsome awards. We love you and all our followers.

Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

TUXIE TUESDAY WITH MAURICIO

My sisfurs have been complaining about me hogging the computer for Cat Scouts as well as hogging the blog to post about Cat Scouts. But sometimes a Cat Scout has to do what a Cat Scout has to do.

Recently several of my troop mates from the Worldwide Wildcats, a few friends from other troops and I were honored to be purrmoted to the rank of Bobcat. We had a pawsome ceremony at Cat Scouts and a nice party at Campfire afterwards.

This is my Bobcat rank membership card and patch.

I also have been busy earning more Merit Badges. I earned the Thanksgiving badge for the poem in our side-bar.

I earned the Campfire Tails badge for a true story about Mom and an angel she met, named Michael. I was required to tell the story at Campfire.

This was me practicing my song prior to going to Campfire.

This was me practicing my song prior to going to Campfire.

And just today, I earned the Sing-A-Song badge for the the song I wrote, which is printed below. I suggested this Merit badge so got 20 additional Karma points. I received 25 more points for earning it. And the Denmaster liked my song so much, I got 25 more points. How cool is that!

Mauricio’s Troop Worldwide Wildcat Anthem

I like to go camping
Winter, spring, summer and fall.
I gather all my Cat Scout buddies,
And we have ourselves a ball.

We go hiking and fishing and swimming
And are always careful that no one goes missing.
We cook s’mores and tell ghost stories
Or share in our friends’ merit badge glories.

refrain
Cat Scouts is the only life, the only life for me
So please join me at Campfire for a cup of nip tea
Where we are comrades, buddies, friends and pals
Whether we are Cat Scout guys or gals.

Cat Scouts is the happening place to be.
Cat Scouts is fun for Sammy, Raz, Sushi and Allie.
And troop Worldwide Wildcats is just the best.
We love putting our skills and talents to the test.

We’ve earned badges in mammal study, basketry and art
And celebrated our accomplishments together or apart.
It is one for all and all for one
In a troop where we know the fun has just begun.

Many of us have the Bobcat patch on our chest
And are working hard to make our troop the best.
We are proud to be members of the Cat Scout organization
And look forward to continuing our scouting education.

So please come join us everyone.
We know that you’ll have oodles of fun
While learning the ancient and honored Cat Scout way
And having loads of fun each and everyday.

Currently, I am ranked #3 on the Cat Scout Leader Board, in part due to the bonus points from the Sing-a-Song badge.

And lastly, since joining Cat Scouts, I have a nickname. My friend and troop mate, Sushi, gave it to me. The name is Mau, and I really like it ’cause I think it sounds like “meow” depending on an individual cat’s accent.

Hope our readers don’t mind this update as much as my sisfurs do. I know many of them are Cat Scouts as well.

Purrs, hugs and a Cat Scout salute, Bobcat Mauricio
