SUNPUDDLE ART WITH ASTRID & LISBETH

Caturday Art

Astrid and Lisbeth share a sunpuddle.

Today’s art was created using the Beauty effect from LunaPic, followed by the HDR-ish filter from Picasa, a mini-star border from piZap and the mat and frame from Picasa.

The interesting thing about this art, however, is the subjects. That is Astrid on the left and Lisbeth on the right sharing a sunpuddle. I about fell off my chair when I saw this. Though they were adopted together (after orphan Astrid joined Lisbeth’s litter) and totally inseparable as youngsters, Lisbeth DOES NOT LIKE Astrid. She hisses and growls at her whenever their paths cross. I can only assume that Lisbeth’s love of the sunpuddle outweighed her hatred of Astrid.

Astrid and Lisbeth share a sunpuddle. Here’s the original photo. I apologize for the poor quality. I snapped it quickly with my iPhone.

I hope you are not disappointed by today’s art. I had promised to complete the hand-colored picture of Cooper Murphy for today. Unfortunately, though I worked on it, it is still unfinished. MOUSES! The background is complete, but I am not satisfied with how Cooper Murphy is looking. I have been going over some colors with others. I am making no additional promises as to when that piece of art may appear here. I’ll just say that when I’ve finished it, I’ll post it.

Sunday Selfies

Cat4-001Yep, it is that time again. Cooper Murphy will be representing tomorrow as he wants to be here to welcome another ginger tabby to the blogosphere. Most of you have met Angel Sammy’s new brother, Teddy, at what is now TWOspoiledcats, but tomorrow a special blog hop is being held to welcome him. If you hop with us, we’d like you to hop with Teddy as well. You can join the hop at Dory’s Backyard. We’ll provide that link tomorrow.

Until tomorrow, I’ll leave you with my usual “toodles.”

SUNPUDDLE SLEEPYPOD® SNUGGLES

Tuesday Doozy of a Snoozy

We leave the sleepypod® out all the time as it’s where Fiona gets her subQ fluids. It is in the kitchen where it can often be found in a sunpuddle. The sleepypod® is a very popular locale for snoozing among all the kitties, especially Lisbeth and Fiona. If Lisbeth is in full nap mode, she totally fills the pod, but when feeling kind, she’ll make room for a friend. On the other paw, Fiona takes up barely half the space within the pod!

Fiona is one of the few kitties Lisbeth doesn’t growl or hiss at when they come near her. She likes Mauricio, as do all the girls. That’s about it for her. Lisbeth is a bit of an enigma. She didn’t always dislike ALL the other girls. And she wasn’t always such a loner. How and when she changed, Dad Tom and I have no idea. I am just happy she is being kind to Fiona! I pray that does not change. Fiona needs all the love and comfort she can get.

Do those of you with several cats find they change alliances or decide a kitty that was a friend is now a hated enemy? Are you able to determine why or how this happens? I don’t ever remember this happening with any of our previous nine kitties. Even though we’ve been kitty caretakers for more than 30 years, they still baffle me!

TUMMY TUESDAY SUNPUDDLE DOOZY OF A SNOOZY

Sunpuddle Snoozing

When we got up yesterday morning the temperature was in the 40s. That’s our coolest to date for this fall. Some kitty snuggling was happening. When a glorious large and warm sunpuddle appeared on the kitchen floor the competition to occupy it heated up.

Some tortie kitty decided to go one better and sit right on the window sill as the sun streamed through. That’s Astrid’s shadow to the left of Lisbeth’s head, and that’s about as close as these two get these days.

Lisbeth occupied most of the sunpuddle as she stretched out. Her size belies the delicate flower that she is. With Fiona’s diminishing size, she needed very little space to take advantage of the warmth. I thought it was super cute how the girls had their back legs interwoven.

I had thought that Fiona was gaining some weight and doing fairly well, but she has been quite puny the last few days. She sees Dr. Neel on Thursday, so we’ll have a better idea of her prognosis. She’ll report back to all of you on Friday or Saturday. A few extra purrs and prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Saying Good-Bye

It is with heavy hearts that we say good-bye to our friend, Texas (Texas, a Parisian Cat in America), who recently earned his angel wings. Some of you my not have known Texas as his blogging has been sporadic the past couple of years.

In remembrance of him, Lisbeth asked that I share this photo. Prior to dating Cat Scout Charles and becoming his girl friend Lisbeth was escorted by Texas to Sammy‘s 2013 Halloween Costume Party. Here is their photo from that occasion.

Rest in Peace, Texas. We will miss you, but we know we’ll see you again.

SUNPUDDLE SATURDAY WITH ASTRID

Caturday Art Blog Hop

Living in a house that is over one hundred years’ old does not provide us with many sunpuddles. Most sunpuddles occur in the kitchen where the humans had large windows installed when they renovated. With a southern exposure and autumn stripping the leaves from nearby trees, the sunpuddles can be plentiful on a clear day.

While my housemates are outside on the front porch or watching the birds and squirrels from the Catio, I have all the sunpuddles to myself.

After a busy afternoon of performing my duty as self-appointed fly catcher, I sprawled out and luxuriated in this sunpuddle before settling in for a snooze.

Sunpuddle Saturday with Astrid

As I am a stunning tortie girl and the shadows in the original photo are already blotting out some of my fabulous furs and one eye, I didn’t allow Mom to fuss and fiddle too much. Those of you who regularly follow us know that Mom will continue to tinker and manipulate our Caturday Art photos until she’s used nearly every photo program and filter available. I demanded that she stick with our usual photo editing program, Picasa, and only allowed her to “warmify” my photo and add the “pixelate” filter (with large rectangles so as not to obliterate my loveliness) and the frame.

I am dedicating this Saturday Sunpuddle Caturday Art to my sweet Sampy at Kitty Cat Chronicles and sending him a proliferation of kisses.

We are participating in Athena and Marie’s Caturday Art Blog Hop. You can click on the badge at the left to visit and add your own Caturday Art.

Tomorrow is the day y’all wait for so you can show off your selfies. We invite all our furiends to join us for Sunday Selfies. If you haven’t done so yet, what are you waiting for? It is super fun.
