FIFTH BLOGOVERSARY BLOWOUT

If you had asked us five tears ago to predict if we’d still be posting five years later, we wouldn’t have had a clue. We’d never read a blog, and we had little to no idea what we were doing. Yet here we are today. If you’d like to know why we are still blogging after five years, our reason is YOU. Each and every person who has ever visited or left a comment is the entire reason for our existence.

We have met so many amazing anipals and made friends that are dear to our hearts. So stopping now isn’t an option. We would miss all of you too much.

Many bloggers do a retrospective of the past year on their blogoversary. We will do a mini one, as you know what has happened if you follow us.

The low point of our year was the passing of our beloved Fiona on December 1 with Sammy (OneSpoiledCat) following a day later.
The high point was Fiona delivering Cooper Murphy to us on January 7.
Mau and Allie were married at Cat Scouts on July 23, 2016, and will celebrate their first anniversary on our Sunday Selfies blog hop.
We won a few badges that were not Greenies on the Tuesday Teaser, including this week’s First Commenter badge.

We enjoyed using our imaginations to create art for Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty‘s Caturday Art blog hop, TwoSpoiledCats Thoroughly Poetic Thursday and the Friendly Fill-Ins hosted by Ellen (15AndMeowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader).
Lily Olivia turned 18 and joined the Crotchety Cougars Club.
Cooper Murphy became a Cat Scout and joined the Tabby Cat Club.

Now that we have bored you with that rundown, let’s get this party started. We have all kinds of delicious noms and beverages. And Mau baked us a cake in his Cat Scouts Bake Shop.

If you have any interest in reading our very first post, here it is: “Why the Cat on My Head?” It is super short and has no photos.

SPACE STATION WINNER

The petretary is having the “blahs” today, and so we have been forced to take over the blog. After all, we promised to announce the winner of Calista Jo’s birthday party giveaway.

You may recall that the prize is a Petmate® Jackson Galaxy® Space Station.

Cooper Murphy demonstrates how to play with the Space Station, while Giulietta observes. A day has not gone by that one or more of us hasn’t played with this meowvolous toy.

Oh wait, you didn’t come here to see us playing. You came to find out if you have won a Space Station of your very own. How about a couple of hints first:

This family has three kitties and one woofie.
One of the kitties is a ginger tabby like Cooper Murphy.
One of the kitties can never sit still for a photo.
Their mom is the artist who created Sampson and Astrid’s wedding drawing.

If you haven’t guessed, we sure hope the winner has figured it out. That’s right, it is kitties, Evan, Thimble and Eddy, and woofie, Astrid, from Four-Legged Furballs.

We are curious as to whether or not woofie Astrid will try to play with it? Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

SUNDAY SELFIES: REMEMBERING FRIENDS

Sunday Selfies: Week #150

Mom asked me to do a selfie so I could thank everyone for all the wonderful birthday wishes. I am more than happy to say, “thanks,” but I wasn’t too happy about the selfie thing. First she woke me up from a nap. I snapped off two quick photos then. They were crummy. Then she interrupted my bath. At that point I decided to accommodate her, just so I could get back to my ablutions. However, I refused to look at the screen as I snapped my photo. So today, I am giving you a profile selfie. I actually think it turned out very well.

In addition to thanking all my furiends for the birthday wishes, I must thank my special friend, Zorro (The Swiss Cats), for the nose kisses. I am blowing kisses back to him.

Remembering Friends

I also have the privilege today of dedicating this Sunday Selfies post to two furiends who recently received their angel wings, Minko (Meezer’s Mews and Freckles’ Woofs ) and Bilbo (Da DB Boyz). Both of these anipals are members of families who have been long-time supporters and participants in Sunday Selfies. If you have not had the opportunity to visit their blogs and leave your condolences, I hope you will do so now.

Rest in peace, sweet friends.

CAT WORLD DOMINATION DAY 2017

Caturday Art on Cat World Domination Day

As today is Cat World Domination Day, I asked Mom to use this photo to show my domination over Lily Olivia. She cropped it down for the art, so I am making her post the original as well. She says it is blurry. Well, of course, it is. She took it! That’s why we are using it for Caturday Art.

No matter, I am in the top position, inside the sphere, and Lily is stuck on the lower scratcher/shelf. Ha, ha. I’m the dominate cat over the queen of the house.

Cat World Domination Day is really about the dominance of cats over humans. It was established by now angel, Sparkle, and coincides with her birthday. Summer, Binga and Boodie (SparkleCat.com) have continued the tradition of celebrating as has most of the feline portion of the blogosphere. So lets all get together today and demand that our humans think ONLY of us and cater to our every desire. In other words, treat today like you would any of the other 364!

Cat World Domination Day

So now that we have established that today isn’t just about my domination of Lily Olivia, we must jump back to our Caturday Art. To create this incredibly, arty photo of me, she started in LunaPic. She applied the Fire filter, followed by the Surreal Painting and Beveled Edge effects. The final step was to add the Yellowed Papyrus filter with AdornPic. She thinks the end result looks unfinished, but all the other effects and filters she tried added nothing to my beauty. Both Dad Tom and I told her to quit fiddling, and she finally listened.

DOOZY OF A SNOOZY, REVEAL AND WINNER

The Big Reveal

This week for our Caturday Art, we presented you with a psychedelic-like “artified” photo and challenged you to guess which kitty or kitties were pictured. Today we reveal the original (unaltered) photo and the winner of some BlogPaws Conference swag. To refresh your memory, here is the photo.

We figured at least one of the kitties (there are two) would be easy to identify. That is Cooper Murphy’s striped leg to the left side of the photo. To our surprise seven of the 28 commenters identified both Cooper Murphy and the other kitty, Mauricio. Remembering that we’ve posted a couple of other photos of them touching or snuggled together most likely helped those of you who guessed correctly.

The Winner

So, who was the first to guess correctly? It was mom’s friend, Annie Morris, from McGuffy’s Reader. Many of you know her from the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop. Mom has already packed up a box of BlogPaws swag for Annie and kitties, Grizelda, Chloe Jo, Maggie and George as well as a couple of things for woofies, Stella and Kenzie.

MAU’S EXTRA SPECIAL SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #148

Guess who? If you read yesterday’s post, you already know who. It’s me…Mauricio, otherwise known as Mau. I like to have my photo taken, and I like to take selfies. As you can see, I am very photogenic, and I have excellent posing skills. This photo is a tad unfocused, as I asked the petretary to blow it up really big! Sorry!

My selfies are always extra special, but this one is EXTRA, EXTRA special. I made it just for my beautiful and sweet wife, Allie. Next month we will celebrate the one-year anniversary of our marriage. How pawsome is that? Do you think she’ll like my selfie? She’ll probably faint. She has a bit of a tendency to do that. I already alerted Mom Sharon to have a pillow ready to break her fall.

Do y’all think I am being too conceited? I have been told with some regularity that I am a very fine looking tuxie gentleman. And if you haven’t seen me in uniform, you should check out Cat Scouts. If you’re not a member, sign up while you are there. Membership is free. You’ll have oodles of fun and make lots of nice friends. Just remember…no hooligans allowed!

If you come by often for Caturday Art then you know the petretary often gets carried away. She has a tendency to pile on, and this week is no exception. Not only did she throw the kitchen sink at this creation, but she also included the dirty dishwater. She used Picasa, LunaPic, piZap and PicMonkey to create this colorful mess.

You most likely are wondering if she is off her rocker or if there is a method to her madness. We are happy to say that this art actually was created purposely. You may be able to tell from our post title, what that purpose is. Today’s art is a challenge. TREASURE TROVE OF PRIZES FROM BIONIC BASIL

Look at the Treasure We Won!

Before Mom and Dad left for the BlogPaws Conference, we received an e-mail from Bionic Basil with this message: “MEW WON SMOOCHIE’S EPICALLY EPIC GIVE-AWAY!” The giveaway was held in conjunction with Smoochie’s birthday. Though Basil’s mum, Cathrine, was going to be at the BlogPaws Conference, she’d be putting the package in the mail. It arrived while our humans were in Myrtle Beach. No matter how much we begged, Chris would not open the box for us. Waiting was agony, but the treasure in that box was well worth the wait. Take a look for yourselves.

Many of the items, like the Bobble hat, bracelet, hedgehog and strawberries are from Cathrine’s shop, Kit Knit Cos Play.

Mom is excited to have an opportunity to wear her bracelet and those adorable socks (front left). We can’t wait to get our claws into that hedgehog. Mom is also going to try to get the boys into the tie and some of girls in the hat before tomorrow. If that happens, we’ll share photos for Wordless Wednesday.

We are sending our sincere thanks to Smoochie and Mum Cathrine for this amazing treasure. They were so generous and thoughtful with these gifts. We are very lucky kitties, and we haven’t even seen the BlogPaws swag yet. We did notice, however, that Mom packed up a big bag of things today for Chris and her cat, Tinsley. But that’s okay. We like to share and will be giving away a lot more goodies.

As an aside, our mom wanted us to let Cathrine know how much she enjoyed meeting her and spending a bit of time together. Mum Cathrine is a really lovely person.

NAP ATTACK: THEN AND NOW

Doozy of a Snoozy

All cats are good nappers. We see it everyday. We know it. When I ran across this old photo a few days ago, I knew I had to share it and compare it to a more recent one.

This is not Cooper Murphy but MacKenzie, our former ginger tabby. That bed in front of the window was his favorite place to snooze. If awake, he could spy on the dogs and kitties that lived next door at the time. Mac got his wings in 2011. He had inoperable stomach cancer.

Fast forward to 2017 to another ginger tabby, who also enjoys a good nap.

Cooper Murphy is not too particular about where he naps, just as long as it is somewhere on the catio during the day. At night he usually passes out on one of the ham-micks. Tonight he happens to be sprawled on his back on our bed—asleep and snoring!

Though MacKenzie enjoyed many of the things Cooper does, we did not have a catio when he was alive. Like Lily Olivia, Mauricio and Misty May, he was allowed outside during daylight hours. However, he was a momma’s boy through and through and never was too far from my side. If I worked in the garden, he was right there to help. If I was cooking, he was “tied to my apron strings.” He spent his last six months snuggled next to me in the recliner as I recuperated after breaking my leg.

On the other paw, Cooper mostly is a solitary guy, who does his own thing. I suspect that this difference comes from the fact that MacKenzie bonded with us when he was a kitten, and Cooper Murphy did not join the family until he was about 15 months old.

Cat guardians know that all cats are good nappers, but that each has his own unique purrsonality. In my opinion, that is what makes every kitty special!

Mom says that I am your host for our Sunday Selfies post. I say I am the star. Just check out that frame surrounding to my photos.

It’s pretty obvious that I haven’t had enough practice taking selfies. I am sorry that both of these photos are blurry. In my defense, Mom kept trying to get me to snap a selfie while I was eating. She says the reason for that is because I am A-L-W-A-Y-S eating. MOUSES! That is a total lie. Well, maybe not a lie but a very slight exaggeration. Anyhoo, I hope giving you a peek at my tongue will redeem these photos a teensy bit.
