PIRATES CELEBRATE 3000TH POST!

3,000th Post

Arrrgh…how did that happen? I cannot wrap my head around that 3000 number. To those of you who have been with us since somewhere near the beginning as well as everyone who has ever visited, thank you! Without your following and support, I would not have reached this milestone nor would I still be writing this blog.

Sparks/Meow (Talk) Like a Pirate Day

Our three boys, Cooper Murphy (Decrepit Hugo Scarr), Sawyer (Cap’n Joe Leadhead) and Raleigh (Armless Bart Bellamy) are here to celebrate this fun holiday and present our Spark. Cap’n Joe is much too young for grog, pillaging or digging for buried treasure; though, he certainly is an energetic litter box excavator. I think we’ll consider him an apprentice pirate for this year.

Two tabby cats (one grey and one orange) and one orange tabby kitten dressed in pirate clothing.

I absolutely love this Spark from Disney. Reading is one of my favorite pastimes.

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie is taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. Many of us still continue to post a Spark on Monday, as we believe in Annie’s vision: “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

Comment-a-thon

In honor of Misty May and Angel Mau, Kitties Blue and I are having a comment-a-thon. I will donate $1 for every comment (one per person, please) made on their birthday post through midnight Thursday. One commenter, selected through Random.org, will have the opportunity to select the pet shelter, rescue or charity to receive the donation. So please feel free to invite all your friends to join the party and comment.

Awww Mondays

My three pirates are popping over to Comedy Plus for the Awww Mondays blog hop. If you’d like to join them, click on the Awww badge.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

This fun-loving, tabby duo will return tomorrow with the next installment in their adventure series. It is Periwinkle’s week to plan and post their adventure, so look for them at Friends Furever tomorrow. I know both Periwinkle and Stinky will be looking forward to seeing all of you.

ARRGH…A PIRATE POEM BY KITTIES BLUE

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Another Thursday and another poem. This week Teddy and Angel Sammy provided this exquisite picture of a sailing ship. We had to think long and hard before we came up with a poem. We didn’t want to trivialize the majesty of this, but in the end that is exactly what happened.

Poem "Arrgh"

ARRGH

Each year on one special day
We think its fun to dress-up and play
At being pirates and scalawags.
We fly our skull & cross bone flags
When we board our magical ship.
Then from blog to blog we skip,
Saying, “arrgh” and swilling grog,
Hoping not to get lost in an ocean fog.
We take on silly pirate names
And search for booty that we can claim.
But the other 364 days of the year
From big bodies of water we try to stay clear.
It might be fun to see a great big whale,
But Kitties Blue don’t want to go for a sail.
Though this sailing ship looks mighty fine,
We’ll stay warm and dry on the coastline.

Thankful Thursday

We’d like to say we are thankful for the end of the eye “icks” but… Cooper Murphy finished his oral meds yesterday.  Unfortunately his eyes remain very squinty. We will continue the eye ointment for a few more days. Calista Jo is now on her second go round. We put ointment in her eyes last night and will see if we can get oral meds for her today without another trip to see Dr. Neel.

As for being thankful, we are. Astrid, Lisbeth and Giulietta remain uninfected.

We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop. To join the hop and let your fellow bloggers know for what you are thankful this week, click on the badge below.

MEOW LIKE A PIRATE DAY 2015

pirate

We didn’t think we were going to get to participate in one of the most fun days of the year: Meow Like a Pirate Day. Our seamstress didn’t even start making our costumes until this afternoon, except for Mauricio’s. He has a party at Cat Scouts so, of course, his costume got top priority. The rest of us are getting pretty tired of his always getting preferential treatment.

In the end, we all got some pretty nifty costumes. While Mauricio is at Cat Scouts, we girls will be terrorizing and pillaging our neighborhood. Surely somebody around here has some booty or cat treats to plunder.

As we are dressed as pirates, we needed pirate names as well, and here they be, matey. (Listed in the order in which we appear in the photo.)

Lily Olivia: My pirate name is Sal “Tall Tide” Seamen – “The Bounty of Ape Bay!” This pirate be a clever sort—a valuable treasure aboard a ship of fools!

Astrid: My pirate name is Opal “Voodoo” Murphy – “The Fury of Rum Atoll!” This pirate be the angriest pirate of all the seven seas!

Mauricio: My pirate name is Dick “Shivers” Welch – “The Serpent of Locker Island!” This pirate be sly as a sea serpent and twice as slippery!

Misty May: My pirate name is Sadie “Toothy Grin” Jamieson – “The Captain of Seaweed Bay!” This pirate be in charge of the ship, ye mutinous dogs!

Giulietta: My pirate name is Georgette “Parrot Charmer” Dunkin – “The Stranded Sailor of Seastar Reef!” This pirate be wandering the shore, looking for ships. Not lost. Just wants something to aim the cannon at!

Fiona: My pirate name is Jilly “Soft Heart” Pepper – “The Stranded Sailor of Ghost Beach!” This pirate be wandering the shore, looking for ships. Not lost. Just wants something to aim the cannon at!

Lisbeth: My pirate name is Bella “Parrot Charmer” Trembles – “The Poison Claw of Rogue’s Bay!” This pirate be known for their merciless rule of the ocean!

Calista Josette: My pirate name is Betty “Fair Wind” Dunkin – “The Demon of Mango Cove!” This pirate be a prankster and a rogue—a bit of a devil you might say!

We know our art is a bit unconventional, but this is our entry in Athena and Marie’s Caturday Art Blog Hop. This is one of our favorite hops, and we didn’t want to miss it.  To enter or view the other submissions, click on their badge.

Cat4-001And tomorrow is our other favorite blog hop…Sunday Selfies. Why not consider taking your selfie in your pirate costume if you are participating in Meow Like a Pirate Day. We actually will be having guest hosts tomorrow. That’s right, you will get two participants in a “groupie” photo. No hints as to who our guests are. You’ll need to drop in to find out.

ARGH!

Purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

pirate final

After an entire year of sailin’ the ocean blue and plying our pirate trade, we have run our galleon aground after imbibing in a soupçon of nip grog. With this deadman’s chest full of gold coins and jewels, we’re hoping to offer a few baubles to a rabble of natives to use their canoes and tow us out of this cove before the sun dips below the yardarm.

Meowargh ye scalawags, Daisy, Nick, Clara, Georgette, Jilly, Lil, Vera & Helen

* To get our pirate names we entered our actual names in The Pirate Name Generator.

p.s. See you tomorrow for Athena and Marie’s Caturday Art Blog Hop.
