AUDREY ART X TWO

Caturday Art

I loved this photo of Audrey on the cat tree due to her sweet expression and her shadow on the wall. Unfortunately, the original photo was out of focus. So, that made it the purrfect candidate for Caturday Art. And, I have two versions for you today, as I could not decide which I liked best. If you have a favorite, please let us know in the comments.

A torbie cat in a cat tree with her shadow on the wall in some art with pastel colors and surrounded with an aqua lacy frame and a blue-green butterfly.

Torbie cat and her shadow in an artistic image in aqua, rust and brown and surrounded with an aqua, rickrack frame.

To create both of these artistic images, I used Painnt. The first image uses the Legoo effect with soft lighting and analog color composition. I created the second image with the AmyK 3 effect. Both frames are from the favpng app.

Of course, two artistic photos means you also get two puzzles.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

It is time again, tomorrow, to share your selfie with the Kitties Blue and all your friends. Raleigh was supposed to be your host tomorrow, but I made him use his selfie photo yesterday on his naughtiness confession post. That means I will be trying to find one of the other eight to step up and take over the hosting duties. I suspect some treats will be involved in the process of persuasion.

Thanks for coming by to visit with us. We hope to see you again tomorrow.

NAUGHTY CAT & FILL-INS

Feline Friday

An orange tabby cat in a crouched position staring at the camera with a sad look on his face after being naughty.

This was supposed to be my Sunday Selfie, but my mom said I had to post it today. She also said I had to confess to being a naughty cat. I refused to come in from the catio for dinner two nights in a row. Last night I managed to hide so that Mom couldn’t find me. I wedged myself into the very back of the bottom cubby of the cat tree on the upper deck. My fur color just happens to match the covering on that tree. Until Mom got down on her belly and shown the flashlight into the back of the cubby, she couldn’t see me. Of course, I wouldn’t come out. She had to drag me out and haul me into the house. Did I mention that it was 10 p.m. by then.

I think you know by now that I am not a social cat, and I do hide often. Even so, Mom said that she does not appreciate me scaring her yet again.

When I came in the house, I started romping around and acting goofy, as if nothing unusual had happened. She thought that was pretty insensitive of me. But I am a cat, and I make no apologies for my behavior. I also will let you decide if you think I was naughty or just stubborn.

Purrs and hisses, Raleigh

Friendly Fill-Ins

Time again to let you know a bit more about Kitties Blue and myself by completing the weekly fill-ins. Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs) host the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop. On Thursday they each select two sentences to be filled in by hop participants. You can find those on both blogs. Enter the hop by clicking on the graphic.

My usual helper, Sawyer, took over for me today on fill-in #4, and his cartoon alter-ego, Stinky, completed #2. Thanks, boys!

We all used teal italics to complete the sentences.

1. This weekend, I plan to finish washing the front porch.

2. Stinky: Spending time with Periwinkle never disappoints.

3. I once saw our cat, MacKenzie, standing at the backdoor alongside a possum as if to ask, “Can I keep him?”. (I will find the photo and share it sometime in the future.

4. Sawyer: You’ll never hear me say, “I don’t want any treats.”

So, that’s another week of filling in. We will be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art. Hope you’ll join us again then.

PASTEL PURRFECTION BLEP

Caturday Art

Audrey has become Queen of the Blep at our house. Today she shows it off in our Caturday Art presentation.

A tabby kitten is asleep with the tip of her tongue hanging out (known as a blep) in a pastel art rendering with a lavender flower border on the lower right edge.

The original photo showed off some lovely, back feet toe beans as well. Unfortunately the effect from Painnt, Pastel Pearl Petals, obscured them. I tinkered with the effect only slightly by decreasing the brightness and increasing the saturation. The flower border is from favpng.

If you have missed some of Audrey’s previous bleps, you can find them at “A Napping, Upside Down Blep” and “Audrey’s Sunpuddle Bathing Blep.”

I did create a puzzle for all those, like me, who enjoy them.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Kitties Blue and I know you really don’t need a reminder to snap your selfie and join our blog hop tomorrow. But some things are a habit, and one of ours is to do just that. We do it with the hope that we may snag some new hoppers who might be viewing this post and know nothing about it.

Your host tomorrow is currently a mystery, but I think we may just have a guest host. So please stop in tomorrow, whether you hop or not, to see who shows up.

Until then, have an excellent Caturday!

NOT CUT OUT FOR THIS GIG & THANKFULS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

I missed writing a poem last week, so I could not let down Angel Sammy and Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats) again this week. Here’s the inspiration photo, (which I cropped a bit) with the addition of two little tabby cats, followed by my poem.

Men with yellow helmets and blue jackets in a yellow raft with yellow paddles and two tabby kittens.

My poem is totally ridiculous, but sometimes that’s just how it roles.

Not Cut Out for This Gig

We thought it would be fun to be rescue cats,
So volunteered right away when we saw the ad.
But no one mentioned water when we were hired.
If we don’t fall overboard, we’ll probably be fired
Because nothing will force us to get off this boat,
As everyone knows cats are unable to float.
We would soon become food for the fishes—
Probably as revenge for the fish in our dishes!
When we do finally get back to shore,
We’ll be resigning from this rescue corps
And heading home to do what we do best—
Curling up on our humans’ bed for a long rest.

If you’d like to try writing some poetry, check out Two Spoiled Cats (by clicking on the poetry badge) for next week’s inspiration photo. Please read Angel Sammy’s poem when you visit. He sends it to Teddy each week from the Rainbow Bridge, and his poems are always A+ worthy!

Thankful Thursday

On Thursday, we also like to share our thankfuls with you and join Brian’s blog hop.

Dad Tom and I are so thankful that Sawyer has been eating better. When he went several days eating very little, I decided to try kitten stinky goodness. It worked. He’s been doing a great job, at almost every meal, of cleaning his bowl and getting his meds. He did have a seizure on Monday, but it had been two weeks since his last one.

Friday will be the annual round-up. Dad Tom and I are delighted that this harrowing and expensive tradition will be over for another year. Of course, we have not shared this information with the gang. We don’t want them all to try and run away from home. (If you are new to the blog and unfamiliar with the round-up, it is when our vet comes to the house for Kitties Blue annual exams and vaccinations.) I don’t expect they’ll be marking this day with a thankful next week.

Dad Tom and I have another thankful, Raleigh’s voluntary return after his seven-and-a-half hour adventure. I honestly never expected to see him again. I guess rain and hunger are big motivators, at least for him. (If you missed the posts about his escape and Kizmet’s part in it, here are the links: “National Tabby Cat Day Sunday Selfies” and “Caught in the Act!“.)

There’s been a lot of this going on since Raleigh’s break out and return. This is totally new behavior for Cooper Murphy. Do you think he has taken it upon himself to guard our latest escapee? If so, he doesn’t look particularly happy about it.

As always, Kitties Blue and I are thankful for everyone who follows our blog, participates in our hop and offers their support and friendship.

If you’d like to participate in Brian’s blog hop, post on your blog for what you are thankful and then click on his badge to enter your link.

Have a great Thursday. We’ll be back tomorrow with some Friendly Fill-ins.

NATIONAL TABBY CAT DAY SUNDAY SELFIES

Sunday Selfies: Week #454

A couple commenters yesterday mentioned that they were looking forward to today’s surprise. There really wasn’t going to be a surprise, other than the fact that one of us Kitties Blue had already snapped a selfie.

Portent of grey tabby cat sleeping

And that kitty was me, Sawyer. As Audrey got away with posting a snoozy selfie last Sunday, I decided I could do the same this week. I think I look cute awake or asleep.

Surprise!

Actually, we do have a surprise. Unfortunately, it is not a good one. Somehow Raleigh got out of the catio. When Mom and Dad called him for dinner last night, he didn’t come. Mom checked the upstairs catio and didn’t find him. They thought he must be inside on the second floor. A very short time later, Mom looked out the kitchen window and saw him under the catio. Of course, trying to get him to come to her or Dad was futile, and he finally disappeared with barely 30 minutes of daylight left.

Raleigh is a good-for-nothing bum, and he continually takes his collar off. As he hates being touched, it is often days before Mom or Dad can get it back on him. So he was and still is out somewhere without it.

Mom and Dad have set up our trap under the catio with both stinky goodness and tuna in it. Dad checked it at 10 p.m., but it still sat empty. Mom plans to check it every hour through the night. And she will start searching the neighborhood in the morning. Rain is in the weather forecast, which isn’t good, but might just tempt him to come home.

He’s also been posted as lost on PawBoost, our neighborhood forum and Facebook, and Mom has reported him missing to the microchip company.

To be honest, Mom does not expect to see him again. He may like getting three square meals a day as well as treats and free-feeding kibble, but he doesn’t like Mom or Dad or any other people for that matter. Don’t get me wrong, she wants him to come home or be found, but she is trying to be realistic.

After going through this with me, she doesn’t need any advice or suggestions on how to find him or get him home. But she and Dad ask you to please keep the little stinker in your prayers. She and Dad obviously do not want anything bad to happen to him.

National Tabby Cat Day

Cooper Murphy, Audrey and I are looking forward to being spoiled rotten today. Of course, that happens everyday. If Raleigh comes home, he’ll get the same treatment. What self-respecting tabby goes missing the day before our special day? Sheesh! Anyhoo, we wish all our tabby friends a treat- and fun-filled day, including lots of cuddles and play time.

Hopping Time

Now that I have shared my adorable, snoozing selfie with you and filled you in on most of our news (Kizmet also escaped on Caturday, but as she wears her tracking collar, she was easily found and brought back in the house.), it’s time for you to snap your selfie and join our little hop. You know your friends will be looking for you, and you don’t want to let them down.

After that, you can enjoy a nice Easy Sunday and Tabby Cat Day.

Thanks for joining us today and being our friends.

Purrs and paw-pats, Sawyer (with whisker kisses to Noelle)

UPDATE: The little turkey returned home at 3:30 a.m. Mom heard some cat scratching franticly at the cat door. It was Raleigh on the outside. She and Dad had left the door to the catio open in case Raleigh came home. He went straight to the food bowl! Guess he gets to celebrate National Tabby Cat Day after all.

Thanks for your prayers!

COMPETITION FOR #1 NAPPER

Sunday Selfies: Week #453

Tabby kitten, Audrey, is in the #1 napper competition inn organza ribbon. a circular photo framed with white lace , lavender and yellow flowers

As I suspected, most of the Kitties Blue spent yesterday in the bedroom napping, which made it easy to get a selfie for today. Audrey is competing with Calista Jo to be the #1 napper among the Kitties Blue. She can nap all day and sleep all night! I’ll keep you posted as to which feline eventually wins the battle of the snooze!

Whether you’re awake or asleep in your selfie, we really want to see it. And Kitties Blue and I know all your other friends want to as well. If you are too busy or sleepy to join us today, the hop remains open through Thursday, but then you already know that.

If you are here to join the hop or merely here to check out your friends, thank you so much for joining us. Enjoy an easy Sunday as well.

CATIO CAT TREE SUNPUDDLE WITH RALEIGH

Feline Friday

Pale ginger, tabby kitten napping non a cat tree in a sunpuddle on the catio.

Raleigh is the fan of the top of the cat tree, whether in the bedroom or on the catio. (Lisbeth has dibs on the top perch of the dining room cat tree.) It’s even better when the tree is in a sunpuddle.

Raleigh will be participating in the Feline Friday blog hop at messymimi’s meanderings. To participate click on the Feline Friday badge.

Friendly Fill-Ins

Time again to let you know a bit more about Kitties Blue and myself by completing the weekly fill-ins. Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs) host the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop. On Thursday they each select two sentences to be filled in by hop participants, and you can find those on both blogs. Enter the hop by clicking on the graphic.

Not only did Sawyer help me with the fill-ins this week, but he is also the subject of one.

We both used teal italics for our fill-ins. Any explanatory information is in parenthesis.

1. Getting Cooper Murphy to stay out of the kittens’ food is like nailing jello to a wall.

2. Sawyer: I could use a break from having seizures. (I actually had one while Mom was writing this. Pffft! At least I made it a bit longer this time…10 days since my last one.)

3. I’d like to thank my friend, Etna, for going on a walk today with me and Kizmet in the stroller.

4. Just in case Sawyer decides to take another unauthorized walkabout, I had Dad Tom put a tracking device on his collar. (It has actually come in handy when we cannot find him in the house.)

Thanks for joining us today. We’ll be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art.

AUDREY THINKS SHE’S CUTE!

Sunday Selfies: Week #446

You know what? Mom says I’m cute, and I have to agree with her. Just look at my sweet face. I’m sorry the photo is a bit out of focus.

Brown/black tabby kitten portrait in a green and orange floral, leaf and ribbon frame.

I know that every one of you is just as cute as I am. And I sure hope you’ll come by and share your selfie with me and all your friends. If you are busy today, please don’t fret. You can join me anytime through Thursday midnight ET.

Still Tweaking

So, as you may have noticed, Mom is still playing around with our new theme. I’m not certain when she’ll be happy with it. She has promised not to change it significantly again.

We realize Comment Luv is not working. After investigating the plug-in, she has discovered that it has not been updated by the developer in three years nor has it been tested with the current version of WordPress. So for now, she is deactivating it. If you’d like, feel free to add a link to your most recent post in your comment.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, whether or not you’ve joined our hop. Your support and friendship mean the world to us.

Purrs and paw-pats, Audrey

KITTEN SIBLING RIVALRY

Caturday Art

Two tabby kittens napping together and edited with Hyperrealism from Painnt, turning them into a kaleidoscope of colors in an ornate gold frame.

Today’s art features the kittens.  I used the Hyperrealism effect from Painnt with Lomo coloring. The frame is from favpng.

Audrey and Raleigh look like sweet kitten siblings in this photo. But that didn’t last long, as you can see in the photo I took immediately following this one.

Brown/black tabby kitten holding the head of a buff colored tabby kitten in her paws and trying to bite him in an exhibition of kitten sibling rivalry.

Raleigh tried to bite Audrey’s neck and in return she grabbed his head and went for his ear. Just a bit of kitten sibling rivalry. Mostly, these two get along famously. Kizmet is Raleigh’s main rasslin’ and bitey partner.

Raleigh and Audrey are participating in Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. You can do the same by clicking on her badge.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

It’s that time again to snap your selfie and join our weekly Sunday Selfies blog hop.  Your host for this fun hop has yet to be determined. So, you’ll have a surprise when you stop in. And, of course, we are always surprised to see what you select as your selfie to share with us and all your friends.

Don’t despair if you cannot join us tomorrow. Our hop remains open through midnight Thursday ET.

Thanks for dropping by today. Kitties Blue and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

NAPPING KITTY BLUE IN BLUE

Sunday Selfies: Week #444

Orange tabby kitty napping in a blue chair and framed in a blue frame.

Napping is so much more important than taking a selfie, so I made Dad Tom take this photo of me. Then Mom mucked it up with this frame in an attempt to cover up all my fur that is clinging to the chair. Sheesh! You can still see it if you enlarge the photo the tiniest bit!

Well, that’s enough of me complaining. I am supposed to be inviting you to join me on our blog hop. It’s easy and fun to do. It only takes a couple minutes to add your link. And, if you cannot do it today, that’s okay. You have until Thursday at midnight ET.

So, I have now done my duty and will be returning to my nap. Thanks for joining us. Enjoy an easy Sunday. That’s what I’ll be doing.
