Periwinkle’s Arrival & a Plan
Stinky is always anxious to see Periwinkle and is pacing next to the teleportation tunnel when she arrives with the usual whoosh. Stinky catches her in his paws, and they spend several minutes whisker kissing and paw hugging.
“Wow, Stinky, your house looks so festive and ready for Christmas. I thought we might be able to help your mom do some decorating like we did for my mom last week. It looks, however, as if your mom is almost finished.”
“I had thought that would be fun, but then decided we should go to our cottage and decorate it for the holidays.” When Periwinkle hears that she begins bouncing from back paw to back paw and clapping her front paws together.
“Stinky, that is a wonderful idea, but do we have decorations?” asks Periwinkle.
“We do. Mom helped me order some things, and they were delivered to the cottage,” Stinky replies.
“Well then, let’s get a move on,” says Periwinkle, as she grabs Stinky’s paw and leads him back into their tunnel.
When they arrive at the cottage, Periwnkle and Stinky decide to start decorating in the living room. Before they can begin, they need to open all the boxes to see what they have and decide which rooms they want to put things in. Periwinkle cannot believe how many decorations they have from which to select, including hats and bows for themselves.

“Stinky, you look adorable in that Christmas tree hat!” Stinky blushes, thinking he looks totally silly, but in the spirit of the holidays, he decides to wear it. He reciprocates by telling Periwinkle that she looks lovely and festive. Periwinkle giggles.
Decorating Their Cottage
The tabbies begin by putting up the tree. While Periwinkle decorates the tree and puts out some holiday pillows, Stinky hangs a wreath, garland and their stockings. Periwinkle adds a candle to the table. When finished, Periwinkle and Stinky stand back to check out the room. Pleased with the results, they give each other a big hug.

Periwinkle suggests they do the dining room next. They divide up the chores the same as they did in the living room, as Periwinkle knows Stinky enjoys every opportunity he gets to climb. She figures he can’t hurt himself too badly if he falls!

Periwinkle asks Stinky, “Are we going to invite our brofurs and sisfurs for a holiday dinner as we did for Thanksgiving?”
Stinky replies, “It’s an awful lot of work, but if you want to do it, we can. It would be on Christmas Eve. If you decide we should do it, give me at least a week’s notice.”
“Okay, I can do that,” Periwinkle responds. “I think it would be nice if they could see our decorations.”
After sitting and resting for several minutes to admire their work, Periwinkle suggests they move on to the kitchen. While they are working Stinky makes them some hot cocoa, which they enjoy once they have finished with the decor.

“Stinky, I think this is my favorite tree. I like that it is a bit rustic. And the snowman figurines are adorable.”
When they finish their cocoa, the tabbies move on to the bedroom. Before they get started, Periwinkle takes her hat off telling Stinky that it is too hot and too heavy. Stinky is totally happy to remove his as well.

Finished
With the decorating completed, Periwinkle and Stinky return to the kitchen for two more cups of cocoa. They take those to the living room where they sprawl on the couches to relax before the fire.
Periwinkle tells Stinky, “You did a great job selecting all these decorations. With so many to select from, we can do the rooms differently every Christmas.” Stinky tells Periwinkle he thinks that’s a great idea.
Soon it is time for the tabbies to return home. As Periwinkle decides to teleport directly back to her house, they spend time whisker kissing, paw hugging and congratulating each other on what a good job they have done decorating. Then Periwinkle enters the teleportation tunnel and with a wave, blown kiss and whoosh she is gone. Once the tunnel has stopped vibrating, Stinky enters and with a whoosh, he too is on his way home.
The End

“You know, Periwinkle, not all kitties are fortunate enough to have a catio, but getting outside can be very stimulating. Mom has a stroller and takes Kizmet out for walks. I know Sawyer and several others would freak out if she tried it with them. I do know some of Mom’s blogging friends also have strollers and some even have trained their cats to go outside with a harness and leash.”
