NATIONAL FERAL CAT DAY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #426

National Feral Cat Day badge with portraits of four cats.

As promised in yesterday’s post, Sawyer is here to host our hop on National Feral Cat Day. And I didn’t even have to bribe him to take this selfie! I will reward him, however, for being so cooperative.

Sawyer thought, with Halloween just around the corner, I should add something representative of the season to his selfie. Of course, I was happy to oblige him.

Now, Sawyer and I hope you will oblige us by posting a selfie and joining our blog hop. It’s such a good way to stay in touch with your current friends as well as make some new friends. As a reminder, you don’t have to post today to join, and the hop remains open through Thursday.

I know we mention it every week, but we wouldn’t be here without your support, following, comments and friendship. Thank you! Kitties Blue and I love being part of the pet blogging community.

Birthday Wishes

Today is the birthday of a very special person and amazing friend, Mom Sharon, from Friends Furever. Please join us in wishing her a happy birthday and sending best wishes for a purrfect day. We are certain her kitties, Raz, Noelle (aka Periwinkle) and Reesie, will be spoiling her with lots of love and cuddles.

Kitties Blue and I will be back tomorrow with a review of a great, holiday novel, How Snowball Stole Christmas. I will be giving away my copy of the book. So, please join us then and leave a comment for the opportunity to win the book.

Have a terrific easy Sunday.

NATIONAL FERAL CAT DAY & FILL-INS

National Feral Cat Day

National Feral Cat DayToday we want to give all those who care for feral cat colonies and promote TNR a huge shout out, as some of us (like Sawyer) and many of our predecessors were formerly feral. National Feral Cat Day strives to change the views of humans on feral cats.

In 2001 Alley Cat Allies began observing National Feral Cat Day. This important observation focuses on raising awareness about the variety of issues feral (stray) cats face daily as well as recognizing the numerous humanitarians who care for them. The point of today is to reduce the number of unneutered cats by promoting Trap-Neuter-Return and to end the practice of euthanizing these cats.

Feral cats are cats who live independently or in colonies and hunt outdoors. They do not willingly socialize with humans. The fate of these cats in shelters is often euthanization, as they are considered unadaptable.

The current thinking is that feral cats should be trapped and neutered and then returned to the colonies within their neighborhoods. By removing cats’ abilities to reproduce, the numbers in colonies will be reduced naturally, while intact colonies can continue to help in the control of rodent populations in their communities.

To celebrate National Feral Cat Day, use your platform as a blogger to let people know about the obstacles stray cats face. Educate them about TNR and how it saves feline lives. Also encourage everyone to get their cats neutered.

When posting on your social media platforms, use #NationalFeralCatDay.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #230

Friendly Fill-Ins is a Friday blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). They each select two sentences with blanks for participants to “fill in.” The intent is to give us the opportunity to learn a bit more about our fellow bloggers. If you’d like to join in, you can find the sentences to be completed on both blogs on Thursday. To participate, click on the badge, which will take you to Four-Legged Furballs.

I managed to do all the fill-ins without any help this week. My completions are in teal italics.

1. I have zero interest in watching most sports on TV, especially boxing and wrestling.

2. Note to self: Find something to laugh about everyday!

3. Dark chocolate peanut M&M’s is are my favorite treat.

4. If I were living in a horror film, I would close my eyes and pull the covers over my head.

Feline/Friendship Fridays

Sawyer is participating in the Feline Friday and Friendship Friday blog hops hosted, respectively, by Comedy Plus and Create with Joy. You can do the same by clicking on the appropriate badge.
