NAUGHTY CAT & FILL-INS

Feline Friday

An orange tabby cat in a crouched position staring at the camera with a sad look on his face after being naughty.

This was supposed to be my Sunday Selfie, but my mom said I had to post it today. She also said I had to confess to being a naughty cat. I refused to come in from the catio for dinner two nights in a row. Last night I managed to hide so that Mom couldn’t find me. I wedged myself into the very back of the bottom cubby of the cat tree on the upper deck. My fur color just happens to match the covering on that tree. Until Mom got down on her belly and shown the flashlight into the back of the cubby, she couldn’t see me. Of course, I wouldn’t come out. She had to drag me out and haul me into the house. Did I mention that it was 10 p.m. by then.

I think you know by now that I am not a social cat, and I do hide often. Even so, Mom said that she does not appreciate me scaring her yet again.

When I came in the house, I started romping around and acting goofy, as if nothing unusual had happened. She thought that was pretty insensitive of me. But I am a cat, and I make no apologies for my behavior. I also will let you decide if you think I was naughty or just stubborn.

Friendly Fill-Ins

Time again to let you know a bit more about Kitties Blue and myself by completing the weekly fill-ins. Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs) host the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop. On Thursday they each select two sentences to be filled in by hop participants. You can find those on both blogs. Enter the hop by clicking on the graphic.

My usual helper, Sawyer, took over for me today on fill-in #4, and his cartoon alter-ego, Stinky, completed #2. Thanks, boys!

We all used teal italics to complete the sentences.

1. This weekend, I plan to finish washing the front porch.

2. Stinky: Spending time with Periwinkle never disappoints.

3. I once saw our cat, MacKenzie, standing at the backdoor alongside a possum as if to ask, “Can I keep him?”. (I will find the photo and share it sometime in the future.

4. Sawyer: You’ll never hear me say, “I don’t want any treats.”

So, that’s another week of filling in. We will be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art. Hope you’ll join us again then.

A HOPPER HOSTS OUR HOP!

Sunday Selfies: Week #457

As we suspected, we have a guest host for the third week in a row. As we are a cat blog, we don’t think this is quite right. Now, we aren’t really complaining. You know none of us are fond of taking selfies. So, without further ado, here is your host.

Bunny rabbit sitting in a garden with a gazing ball in the foreground.

This is one of the bunnies that visits our yard regularly. He sat in the same spot without blinking or even twitching for a very long time in the hope that Mom would help him take a selfie. She very happily obliged him.

We certainly hope you have enjoyed seeing some of our critter visitors this Sunday and the past two. We promise one of us will be back here next week.

Hop With Us

Now it is time for you to share your selfie, or maybe one of a friend or guest to your yard or home. We may not have the opportunity to look them out today, but we definitely will on Monday. And we know your other friends will be here to check you out. So, please join us on the hop.

And have a nice Easy Sunday!

A RARE TORTIE SIGHTING

Sunday Selfies: #448

I have my paws crossed that my mom remembers to post this, as you don’t get to see me that often. I cannot believe that she didn’t post Cooper Murphy and Audrey’s Caturday Art until a few minutes ago. She just totally forgot. I really hope after you add your selfie to our hop that you’ll visit yesterday’s post and leave us a comment.

Without further preamble, here’s my rare tortie sighting selfie.

Portrait of a tortoise shell cat surrounded by a brown scalloped-edge frame embossed with with light bronze flowers and leaves.

Do you like it? Did I do a good job? The last time I was on the blog was January 14. I have started spending a lot more time with mom, usually when she’s busy trying to work on the computer. I wonder if I’m the reason she forgot to publish. I know I was in her lap last night. You can see her hand on my head. I was getting scritches when I snapped this. If the late post was my fault, I am sorry; though, scritches are more important than posting!

Hopping Time

Now that I’ve shared my selfie, it’s your turn. I know all of you get more practice at this than I do, so I am expecting some pretty great selfies. And I really hope you’ll invite some of your friends to join the fun. We always welcome newbies and the opportunity to make new friends. Remember, all anipals are welcome regardless of species. And if you don’t post on Sundays, that’s not a problem. Our hop is open through Thursday.

Thanks so much for following and supporting us and for joining our hop.

Now go enjoy an easy Sunday.

Purrs & paw-pats, Astrid

BUSTER THE LONGHORN BULL

Sunday Selfies: Week #447

Today’s selfie is of longhorn, Buster the Bull, from Steele’s Tavern, Virginia. Actually, we don’t know his name but decided he should have one.

Selfie of a brown and white longhorn bull in a green field in a rustic, hardwood frame with ribbon and ricrac bows with button.

When he asked if he could share a selfie with you, we didn’t think we could refuse. Those horns look very scary.

Did you know that Periwinkle & Stinky visited the longhorns on one of their adventures? It was July 14, 2020, and also Cow Appreciation Day. If you’d like to see lots more longhorns as well as Stinky and Periwinkle in their cow headdresses, click on the link. They look totally adorable.

Whether you have taken a selfie today or you have enlisted a surrogate, we sure hope you’ll join the Sunday Selfies blog hop. Did you notice we are getting close to that 450 hop milestone? Take advantage of these last couple of preceding Sundays to purrfect your selfie skills.

If you haven’t done it yet, also take a little time to spring your clocks forward an hour. Purrsonally, we hate this messing around with the time. We get totally confused about when it is time to eat. Our mom, on the other hand, who always preferred standard time has decided she likes the longer hours of light during daylight saving time.

Thanks for joining us. Have a terrific and easy Sunday.

AUDREY THINKS SHE’S CUTE!

Sunday Selfies: Week #446

You know what? Mom says I’m cute, and I have to agree with her. Just look at my sweet face. I’m sorry the photo is a bit out of focus.

Brown/black tabby kitten portrait in a green and orange floral, leaf and ribbon frame.

I know that every one of you is just as cute as I am. And I sure hope you’ll come by and share your selfie with me and all your friends. If you are busy today, please don’t fret. You can join me anytime through Thursday midnight ET.

Still Tweaking

So, as you may have noticed, Mom is still playing around with our new theme. I’m not certain when she’ll be happy with it. She has promised not to change it significantly again.

We realize Comment Luv is not working. After investigating the plug-in, she has discovered that it has not been updated by the developer in three years nor has it been tested with the current version of WordPress. So for now, she is deactivating it. If you’d like, feel free to add a link to your most recent post in your comment.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, whether or not you’ve joined our hop. Your support and friendship mean the world to us.

Purrs and paw-pats, Audrey

HAPPY NEW YEAR SELFIE 2023

Sunday Selfies: Week #437

Ginger kitten Raleigh wishes everyone a happy new year 2023 from within his tunnel.

I have to say that I feel pretty lucky to get the first selfie of the new year. I am not sociable when it comes to the humans I live with, which makes getting a photo of me difficult. Two days before Christmas, I was curled up in our old tunnel when this was snapped. Napping and playing in the tunnels are some of my favorite things to do. It makes it difficult for those humans to touch or pet me. I do sleep on the bed at night with my sisfur, Audrey, and a whole lot of the other Kitties Blue, but those humans are sleeping and can’t bother me.

I hope you enjoy seeing me today, as another selfie anytime soon is unlikely.

Please Hop

We know all of you are probably busy hanging out with family today, but all of Kitties Blue would be grateful if you’d snap a selfie and join us. We think being on the first selfie hop of the year is a pretty big deal, and we wouldn’t want you to miss out.

Of course, we understand if you cannot join us today. The hop always remains open through Thursday, so we’ll be watching for you before then.

Mom and all of us kitties would like to thank everyone who has ever joined us for Sunday Selfies. I cannot even imagine how long 437 weeks is, as I am only 6 months old. But I have been told that some of you have been here almost every single week. That is so pawsome. Thank you.

Purrs and paw-pats, Raleigh

HAPPY NEW YEAR, DEAR FRIENDS!

COOPER MURPHY CAUGHT TRYING TO ESCAPE SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #435

I almost escaped taking a selfie today but was caught in the act, which is why it is blurry. I do apologize for that. Mom tried to offset the blur with a fancy holiday frame. In my opinion, she shouldn’t have messed with it, but I didn’t get a vote.

If you only join us on Sundays, you may not know that our mom has COVID. So, this will be a short post, and we won’t be staying up until midnight to join our own hop. We’ll join after Mom gets up in the morning. Please don’t let that stop you. We’ll be excited to see how many of you have shared your selfies when we check in on Sunday morning. If you’d like to jazz up your photo with a bit of holiday bling, please do.

On behalf of all the Kitties Blue thanks for following us, commenting and being our friends. Your support is what keeps us blogging.

ANOTHER RAZZBERRY SELFIE FROM KIZMET

Sunday Selfies: Week #432

Grey cat with tongue out and showing some fang in a Christmas inspired frame.

After being away for a few days, our humans thought we would be happy to see them. Not so much, actually! C.J. and I are the only ones hanging out with them. Chris and Etna treated us very well proving that our mom and dad are completely extraneous when it comes to our happiness and welfare. And don’t even get me started about that dog, Lula. It’s one thing to leave us, but then to spend days fraternizing with a dog—totally unacceptable and unforgivable. It’s going to take mountains of treats to get back in our good graces!

I may have agreed to take a selfie, but I did not agree to hide my displeasure. I’m giving one of my famous razzberries with a little fang thrown in for good measure.

And now those same inconsiderate humans claim to be super tired when all they did yesterday was sit in the car for hours and hours and hours. Okay, so they might be a smidge over-the-hill and tire easily, but I would think they’d appreciate an entire day of car sitting.

Anyhoo, enough about them. They really aren’t very important when it come to sharing a selfie. I really hope you like by my selfie with catitude. Torties aren’t the only ones that can do catitude properly.

All my fursibs and I hope you had a terrific Thanksgiving and were not abandoned as we were. We also hope you’ll post a selfie and join us our our hop. Remember, you don’t have to post today, you can join us anytime through Thursday.

On behalf of all the Kitties Blue, thanks for popping over to see us as well as for commenting on this post and being. our friends.

STAR OF TODAY’S SELFIES

Sunday Selfies: Week #431

I bet you don’t even recognize me. I haven’t been here (except for Blog4Peace when I had to share the spotlight with all the Kitties Blue) since September 23. If you’re new here, you’ve probably never even met me.

Hi, I’m Astrid. The only other of the Kitties Blue as elusive as me is Lisbeth. We came here together and are the shyest cats among the nine. That’s why I am here so seldom. And that makes me extra special. Don’t you think?

Unfortunately, my mom wanted me to show you where I was when I took my selfie. That means I may be the star of the selfies show, but I am stuck with a supporting cast: Cooper Murphy, Raleigh, Audrey and Sawyer. As if they don’t get enough attention!

Five cats together on human's bed: four tabbies and one tortie.

By the way, that lump I am perched on is mom taking a nap! Well, she was trying to nap, but I was purring nonstop. That is one of my best talents. But you probably didn’t know that either.

So now that I have shown you my selfie as well as the photo of this mangey crew, it’s your turn to share your selfie with us. Don’t worry if you are too busy to share it today. The hop will remain open through Turkey Day!

On behalf of myself, these photo bombers, the remainder of the Kitties Blue and our mom, thank you for being our friends, hopping with us and commenting.  We love you all!

Purrs and paw-pats, Astrid

KITTIES BLUE GET SOME WHEELS

Sunday Selfies: Week #429

Grey cat sitting inside stroller aka wheels.

Do you like my selfie? I took it in the stroller our mom got us. She’s wanted to get one for a really long time and finally ordered this snazzy, purple one. It is parked in the bedroom, so we can get used to it. The kittens, Audrey and Raleigh, and I have checked it out. All the others have ignored it.

I have ridden around in the house, but none of us have been outside yet, as it’s been raining here. When the weather improves, two of us will get the first outing. Which of us it is depends on who is the most cooperative. I suspect it will end up being Audrey and me! I’m certain Mom will let you know all about it.

Hopping Time

Are you ready to hop? I’ll be looking for you right here. If you get up and haven’t set your clocks back yet, don’t forget to do so. This is the one day a year we all get an extra hour of sleep. Of course, we kitties sleep as much as we want whenever we want! But we know you humans look forward to this. Once you have snapped, posted and linked up your selfie, you can enjoy a nice easy Sunday.

On behalf of all the Kitties Blue and our mom thank you for hopping with us as well as following, commenting and supporting. And most of all, thanks for being our friends, especially to my brofur, Sawyer.

Old Posts Are New Again

I am slowly working on refreshing old posts I wrote before I knew anything about SEO. This undoubtedly will take me several months. As of now, I plan to send all subscribers to this blog an e-mail on Wednesdays and every other Tuesday (when it is not my turn to post The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky) with a link to one of these posts. Most were published long before any of you started following us. If you have no interest in checking out the post, just delete the e-mail. I truly think, however, that you will enjoy meeting some of our angels and reading these reruns.

Thanks again for joining us.
