PROOF OF THE TRUCE

Is This a True Truce?

Yesterday Mom plopped me down in front of the laptop and told me I had to write this post. Imagine my shock. We rarely post on Mondays, as we are tying to recover from the flurry of Sunday Selfies. Apparently she feels some urgency in getting this news to you. I don’t see the importance of this myself, but I never turn down an opportunity to tap my toesies on the keyboard. Though, I prefer to write what I want…not what is dictated to me.

Supposedly this whole to-do started yesterday when Lisbeth mentioned something about a possible truce. Supposedly, Lisbeth thinks we are having one. She even claimed to have photographic proof, which seems to be the reason I am here today. I have been tasked with sharing that proof, which surprisingly actually exists.

Astrid and Lisbeth - truce?

Astrid and Lisbeth truce?

As you can see by the second photo, I am uncertain about how wise it is to be in such close proximity to Lisbeth. She may have been pretending to ignore me in that first photo, but I can feel her staring at me in the second one. Thus, the grumpy expression and airplane ears. But, once again, no hissing (Lisbeth), screaming (me) or whacky paws.

Is this really a truce? Will it continue? Who knows? I certainly have no idea. It would be nice to have the support of my sisfur, as I am still being bullied by Misty May. Mom says I shouldn’t run from her but turn around and smack her. I don’t think that is going to happen. I see her racing toward me with that big, poofy tail, and I freak!

But, I digress… I suppose Lisbeth and I could be mellowing as we approach our sixth birthdays next month. That would be nice. But I have no intention of holding my breath. I suspect either Lisbeth or I will be giving you updates. But from my side, consider no news good news.

Purrs and paw-pats, Astrid with kisses for my husband Sampy

THE EYES OF LOVE

Caturday Art

I had planned to share my finished coloring project of Cooper Murphy from last Caturday with you today. Unfortunately, I was too busy this week to finish it. I promise to have the completed picture here next week.

So today, I am sharing another one of the photos of Fiona and Giulietta snapped by my friend when they were adolescents.

The Eyes of Love

As with the other photos in this group, the girls were enjoying a sunpuddle on the kitchen floor. I didn’t crop the photo in order to frame Fiona and Giulietta with an interesting background. To create the art, I started with the Fire Prayer filter in Dreamscope. From there, I went to picMonkey, put the focus on the kitties and pixelated around them. After that I applied one of the smudge filters and the craft scissor border.

This is our entry in Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. It is by far one of the most fun hops. If you haven’t created some art and entered this hop, what are you waiting for? The internet has many free photo-editing apps with which you can experiment.

Sunday Selfies

Tomorrow marks week #131 of our blog hop. We are thankful to have many who have and continue to support and enter the hop. And we are so excited when we get a new participant.

No selfies have been taken at our house yet. Guess I’ll have to see who I can coerce bribe later today.

As a reminder, if you are unable to join us tomorrow, the hop remains open through Thursday each week.

Thanks for viewing our art today. See you tomorrow.

SISTERS SHARE A TWO-FUR

Sunday Selfies: Week #103

Sisters Fiona and Giulietta present a twofur for the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop.

Today I have a two-fur of the most gorgeous sisters, Fiona and Giulietta. I selected this frame in PhotoFunia not knowing the photo would be turned into a painting as well. Aren’t they exquisite? It makes me sad to know they will not grow old together. They love each other so much. Even on these hot days they can be found cuddled together.

Today I worked in the yard for a couple of hours. Even though it was super H-O-T, I allowed Fiona to join me as she loves it so much. It was wonderful to see her exploring and enjoying herself. Watching her roll around on the driveway relishing the coolness of the concrete warmed my heart. She is truly a special girl.

Seven months have now passed since Fiona was diagnosed with Stage 4 CKD. When we left our vet’s office that day, I was not optimistic about her chances to survive for anything more than a very short time. In the scheme of things, seven months is a very short time but more than I expected. Many of you have written me about your cats. Some have survived as many as three years with CKD. We are blessed to have had these seven months, but I want more and pray she can survive as long as others have. So I continue to ask for your purrs, prayers and POTP for my sweet girl.

This is our Sunday Selfies Blog Hop. The link to add your post to the hop is below. We had a great turnout last week with just short of 60 participants. Thanks for the continued support and interest in doing this hop.

If you’d like to have the entries appear on your blog, the code is below. Please link to The Cat On My Head and/or display our badge if you select this option. Thank you.

SISTERS TURN SIX!

The “Kittens” turn six today. They are no longer kittens and not the youngest of Kitties Blue, but that’s what we dubbed them when they first joined our household. You know them as sisters, Fiona and Giulietta.

Sisters celebrate six birthday in their tiaras.

Last year I forgot Fiona and Giulietta’s birthday, but I wasn’t going to let that happen this year. For all I know, with Fiona’s CKD, this could be her very last birthday. If the kittens had a cake with candles, I would ask if I could blow them out. That would give me the opportunity to make a wish and ask God to give Fiona many more years with us.

They received their gift a couple of weeks ago: a fountain for the second floor. Unfortunately the water makes lots of noise falling from the top to the bottom. To date, I have only seen Lisbeth and Lily Olivia using it.

Before I give the update on Fiona’s recent vet visit, I need to show off two beautiful cards they received. The first is from dear friend, Sammy (onespoiledcat) and the second from Toby, Bobbie Sue and Simon (Doggie and Kitty Caperz).

Fiona and Giulietta say, “thank you.” The cards are beautiful and the sentiments appreciated.

Fiona’s Vet Visit Update

Tuesday was Fiona’s recheck at the vet. She gained back the two ounces she had lost at the previous visit. She weighs seven pounds and four ounces. Her BUN had jumped up on her last visit but has come down again. It’s at 97, which is not the lowest it has been but close. Unfortunately her phosphorus is back on the rise, so she has started back on the Maalox. Some of you have mentioned prosperous binders, which is what Maalox is. Our vet, Dr. Neel, based on her experience, research and collaboration with other veterinarians, believes Maalox works as well as any prescription medicines. Fiona hates it, and I cannot blame her. Her dad and I are not too fond of having it spread all over our clothing, hair and every surface in the kitchen. But we’ll do whatever it takes to give her the best quality of life we can.

Here are a couple of photos from Tuesday. A third one can be seen on Instagram.
