Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
Yesterday
Many yesterdays have passed since
You gained your angel wings. Today
Is six months since you left us behind
To remember and mourn. Our hearts
Continue to hurt, and we miss
You as much as the day you left.
Giulietta whined from the catio
Yesterday as I worked in the yard.
I know you put her up to it. That
Was your way of getting me to
Allow you to join me as I
Gardened. You were there with me
In spirit. With every meow
I thought of you and how much I miss
Your sweet face and disposition.
In these past few months, many friends
Have traveled your same path in your
paw-steps. I am certain you were
Waiting to greet them with purrs and hugs.
I pray you and your friends are laughing,
Frolicking and having fun together.
Picturing that makes me smile, but
Does not lessen my sadness at your
No longer being here to snuggle
And receive our love, care and kisses.
Fiona, please do not ever forget
You are still and always will be loved.

This is our poem for Angel Sammy and Teddy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday. If you haven’t already figured it out, this week’s prompt letter is “Y.” Twenty-six weeks ago, our “Y” poem also was about Fiona. That poem, which was written the day before Fiona’s death, is on the side-bar. I used to change the poem there occasionally, but I have not had the heart to take “You” down. I think this poem will either replace or join it. If you have an opinion, let me know.

Thankful Thursday
It would seem as if it would be impossible to be thankful with this amazing cat—my heart cat—no longer in our daily lives. But I am thankful everyday that we were blessed to have her as part of our family for the six years she was with us.

Your beautiful poem brought a little mist to my eyes. Our friends stay around in our hearts much longer than they were physically present.
Yael from Playing In Catnip
Such a beautiful poem. It seems impossible to be 6 months already. The pain of loss never goes but the happy memories help us to bear it. Hugs.
We all understand. Hearts break and never heal. We always miss them. Always.
We are blowing kisses to you sweet Angel Fiona!
So very sweet. Fiona knows and will never forget. She misses you too.
That was absolutely beautiful. XO
What a beautiful poem in memory of your angel Fiona. She may be physically gone…but she is not forgotten…and will always be loved. Purrs….
Both of these poems are beautiful and reflect your loss. Love
A beautiful tribute poem. Fiona may be out of your sight but certainly not out of your heart.
We will forever be thankful that you shared that dear soul with all of us. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

What a lovely poem – Mum just wishes she could write a poem like your Mom does.
A beautiful poem that touches the heart of anyone who has ever lost a furrbaby! Thanks, Janet! 🙂 <3
Add this one too the one already there. All of us can substitute our own beloved kitties’ names .
Beautiful. Your Angel Fiona will always be with you, and she will always know your love for her. You have such a way of so beautifully pouring your feelings into these poems, something that takes far more than just talent (which indeed you have). I would love to see both of Angel Fiona’s poems together. What a wonderful tribute to her.
What a lovely poem for Fiona…..I think it would be a wonderful addition to the sidebar – marking these passages of time in poetry as beautiful as this one is might be balm for the soul after all. Fiona gone six months today – Sammy gone six months tomorrow……..time flies but the heartache stays. Thank you for joining in the poetry challenge! We absolutely LOVE the baby picture of Fiona……
Hugs, Teddy (and Mom)
I’m also sending purrs to you today. These markers are never easy.
What a lovely poem! It would be very nice for you to leave it on your sidebar.
Mom Janet, what a lovely and heartfelt poem in honor of your dear heart Angel Fiona. How fitting to have Fiona’s spirit speak through her special sister Giulietta. Love the poem for your sidebar. Purrs to you and cuddles and kisses to sweet Giulietta with love from Clooney.
We vote to leave the poem.
Sending some speshul purrs today. Anniversaries are tuff – earlier this month was the one year of Whitley becoming an angel. And the third is the anniversary of Charlie cat becoming an angel.
