Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #56
It is time again to let you know a little more about ourselves. Kitties Blue did not complete any of the fill-ins this week. The kitties did not find them to be feline friendly. As per usual, my completions are in teal italics.
1. A law I would like to see passed is the Pet and Women Safety Act, or PAWS Act (H.R. 909) and (S. 322) reintroduced in February 2017 by U.S. House of Representative Katherine Clark (D-MA) and U.S. Senators Dean Heller (R-NV) and Gary Peters (D-MI). This bipartisan legislation protects victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and dating violence from emotional and psychological trauma caused by violence against their pets. (Click here, if you are in the United States, to submit the form to ask members of your local legislature to help protect domestic violence survivors and their pets.)
2. My favorite card game is canasta; though, I haven’t played since I left home to go to college. My grandparents taught me to play when I was still too young to hold the cards. My second would be cribbage, which I play with the kitties’ dad, Tom, usually when we are on vacation.
3. With Summer unofficially here, we will be doing more swimming and bike riding.
4. A favourite Summer memory is from when I was 16. I toured several countries in Europe and then attended classes at the American College in Paris as part of a program entitled, American Pre-College Program in Paris.
Friends, Ellen (15AndMeowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader), are the hosts and authors of the Fill-Ins each week. This is a blog hop, which you can enter by clicking on the badge below, which will take you to Annie’s blog.
Thanks for sharing. i really enjoyed reading this blog
Wow, summer in Paris! That must have been quite the experience for a 16 year old. 🙂
Interesting – another cribbage player. My Grandpa taught me when I was 4 or 5 years old.
We wholeheartedly agree with and support #1!!
How awesome to be able to travel overseas when you’re at the happening age of 16!
Number 1 is really great, politicians, not so much!
Looks like some kitties are happy. At first, I thought that was Astrid and Misty May (a SHOCKER!) – then I noticed the second kitty doesn’t have black ears. We agree about the PAWS act. We haven’t blogged about it yet because I want to weave it in with my own story and the fact that most animal abusers also abuse humans in terms of domestic violence. I want animal abuse to be taken seriously … that is one of my biggest awareness issues … because by reaching the perpetrators early, I’d hope to avoid the later manifestation in domestic violence.
grate answerz bye yur mom guyz…N we agreez; we wood rather
play nip & grazz gamez two !! 🙂 ♥♥
heerz two a driftwood catfish kinda week o end ~ ♥♥
I send letters to my local politicians!
thank you janet did not know about the legislation for women and pets sending my voice in one of frankies predacessors was murdered by my ex because he couldn’t get to me this law is very much needed thank you again
That is a great law – thank you for posting the link.
The law I would like to see passed would be to make the punishment for animal abuse be whatever that person did to the animal. That would put an end to a lot of it. (Unrealistic wish, of course, but that’s what wishes are for.)
Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I hope to meet you one day- and play cribbage with you too. I have never played Canasta. That sounds like an amazing summer you spent traveling. Have a great weekend! XO
Great #1! I remember my Mom playing canasta all the time back in the 50s. I never did learn and don’t know the first thing about it. I’ve heard it’s fun, though! And traveling Europe in your teens. Wow! 😀
What a wonderful answer for #1. Thank you so much for bringing awareness to this. I am not much of a card game player and have actually never heard of canasta. I will be googling it shortly, that’s for sure. And I sure am happy to see summer here. I also love to take bike rides in lovely weather, and I have been itching to get on my bike these days. And what a wonderful experience your #4 must have been! Happy Friday!
I am with you on passing the PAWS Act. It is so cool that you got to tour Europe and study in Paris at 16!
I never learned to play Canasta but I do remember my Mom TRYING to teach me Bridge! David doesn’t like to play games or play cards so I rarely get to do that these days except with the kids next door. What a lucky girl you were to be 16 and in Paris! Oh the stories you could tell (tee hee).
Love and Happy Friday, Pam (with Teddy too)
