We are taking today to remember Sammy (onespoiledcat). He was a dear friend to all of us in the blogging world. He educated us on world geography with his Tuesday Teaser, gave us the joy of laughter with his Saturday King of Baconia posts, and most recently got us testing our creativity with Thoroughly Poetic Thursday.
Knowing Sammy as we do, we are certain he will continue to orchestrate these events from the Bridge. With the King of Baconia’s huge purrsonality, you know he will not just slip away to frolic with Easy and all his other pals.
But Sammy was not just a friend to Kitties Blue—he was Mau’s best pal. They became Cat Scouts together, established the Worldwide Wildcats Troop with a couple of other good Scout buddies, and Mau was Assistant Troop Leader to Sammy who led and took care of his troop as only Sammy could.
Sammy was the epitome of a Cat Scout, becoming the first ever Cat Scout of the Year along with Cat Scout Sushi. He achieved every rank in Cat Scouts, including the very highest rank of Sabertooth Tiger. And he was one of the first group of Scouts to achieve the Order of the Arrowhead. He also became Chancellor of Cat Scout University. Sammy was not one to rest on his large and adorable polydactyl paws.
Sammy was wise and kind, caring and compassionate, funny and mischievous. We loved his many antics and costumes. And we loved him.

Caturday Art
We have created today’s art in honor and memory of Sammy. Mauricio has turned himself orange to match his pal. And his furs, unintentionally, are looking a lot like bacon. Please feel free to laugh. We know Sammy is.
The amazing Ann of Zoolatry made this gorgeous badge for Sammy.
If you are a Cat Scout but do not visit there often, Mau wants you to know that a Memorial Service for Sammy will be held at Cat Scouts on Monday. The time and exact locale have to been determined but a notice will be left at Scouts and one here as soon as they are determined.
Orange Mauricio is our entry in this week’s Caturday Art Blog Hop hosted by the lovely Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. To enter some art and or view the other submissions, click on Athena’s badge.

Tomorrow will be an extra special Sunday Selfies post, and we urge you not to miss it. Even if you cannot join the hop, the pleasure of your presence is requested. Hope to see you then.

This is a wonderful tribute to our dear friend Sammy. He may have been One Spoiled Cat but he shared every bit of his whole being with us in so many ways. As we read of his many achievements it hit home just how big those polydactyl paw prints are to fill. An amazing Cat, Cat Scout, Friend, Bacon Lover and so, so much more. He is in our hearts where he will be forever.
Purrs and Prayers for his family
Timmy, Dad Pete and Family
Beautiful post for our sweet pal Sammy. We love him so much and are glad he is continuing to blog and stay at Scouts through the Bridge WiFi.
The Florida Furkids with bazillion smoochies and tons of love to Mau from his WIFE Allie.
What a horribly sad week. We are so sad that Easy and Sammy both had to go to the Bridge. Your tribute is beautiful, and made us get all teary again…
What a nice tribute to an awesome and lovable cat. Sammy will be missed by all and always have a place in our hearts.
A lovely tribute to our mentor at Cat Scouts. We love you guys and appreciate the art.

Sammy must be smiling as he looks at your tribute art, Mau.
Rest in peace dear Sammy.
Such a lovely tribute for Sammy. I will miss my ginger bookend brother on the selfies hop. My heart is so sad. We shared our illness together and encouraged each other to keep fighting it.
This is a most special tribute to one “spoiled” and SPECIAL CAT!! Our hearts are shattered by all of the loss this past week xoxo
What a beautiful tribute to Sammy. He must be very purroud of you,Mauricio 🙂 Pawkisses for a Happy Caturday 🙂 <3
Great tribute to Sammy, Mau!
Beautiful tribute! The portrait manages to be gorgeous and delicious at the same time!
Wonderful tribute for an awesome cat!!! We are sorry we didn’t hear about it sooner but Mom’s been away from the computer. Mom wants to say how wonderful the blogging community is and how precious the support is. She remembers when she needed it back in August when Shakespeare went over the Bridge.
Prayer, purrs and hugs……Hemingway, Steinbeck and Pam
This is a beautiful tribute to Sammy. I am happy that he was my friend. Sammy (and you and Wally) were my friends before Cat Scouts and the three of you are the reason why I joined Cat Scouts. I know he was a sick kitty but I am heartbroken that he needed to run off to the Bridge. My mom has been leaky eyed since we learned that he ran off to the Bridge. I’m glad that there will be a memorial for him at Cat Scouts. He did so much for all of us and we all looked up to him as a role model. Salute! We love you, Sammy.
This was a very lovely tribute to a very beloved Sammy.
it’s been a tough week among the blogs. Losing Sammy was a blow. 🙁
What a beautiful tribute to a great cat. Your words and artwork are just perfect. Purrs to you…
What a fitting tribute to one of the best cats we know. We will miss Sammy very much. Wally says he will be there for the memorial. Sammy was the best Cat Scout ever. *tears*
What a beautiful tribute for a beautiful furrbaby. Goodbyes are always so very difficult. So sorry for his passing.
Oh how sweet……thank you Mau – Sammy is perched on my shoulder now reading and I felt a teardrop on my arm…..he loves you like a brother. He also hopes to continue to continue at Scouts AND we will definitely still be blogging. Thank you for honoring him with the Memorial at Scouts on Monday. Thank you too for being an amazingly supportive friend these past years. Sammy and I love you and your family “to the moon and back”……………and always will.
Love, Pam

This was a beautiful post for dear Sammy. He will be very missed. I love the art you made for him, I am sure he would want to eat Mau up 🙂 My Sammy will definitely be at the Scouts memorial service. Sammy was his first scout friend and one of our first blogging friends. He was a wonderful boy. XO
This is a wonderfully heartfelt tribute. Beautifully done, my friend. You and Fiona are in my thoughts and prayers. ❤
This post is nothing short of purrfect. What a beautiful tribute to Sammy. And, Mau, orange you sure makes for some tasty looking bacon. We’ll certainly be back tomorrow for the Sunday Selfies blog hop.
So sorry to hear about Sammy’s passing. I was reading on Brian’s blog about his trip in his balloon there just yesterday. RIP Sammy enjoy that Bountiful Bacon Bar at the Bridge….
That is such a lovely tribute to our good friend! Mau looks terrific and it did make me smile through the tears! xx
What a sweet tribute to a good friend. And I love the art – it’s very cool and abstract and very personal too.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful tribute to Sammy, our deeply beloved friend. He was one of the first friends of Mr. Bowie, they met many years ago. I’m sure Sammy is spoiled again and he’s having a wonderful time right now. He will be forever in our hearts.
So sorry to hear about Sammy. While I only knew him from Kitties Blue, I know how hard it is to loose a friend.
We are hugely upset about Sammy. We took today off the internet as we could not cope, too many years….
