So the frustration level at our house is at DEFCON 1. What does that mean? If our mom could drop a nuclear bomb on APPLE and her MacBook Air, we are pretty sure she would.
A couple months ago, she got a new MacBook Air. She had pretty much worn out her old one, and her Apple Care three-year contract had expired.
Mom has never been able to get some things to work correctly, like migrating her photos to the new computer. And the screen would act wonky sometimes, freezing the entire computer.
We could never get our outgoing mail for The Cat on My Head to work. For a while we were able to use one of our other servers to send it, then that stopped working. Then a few days ago all our outgoing mail stopped working. ARGH!
Mom had appointments all day Tuesday and set Wednesday aside to try to fix things—not expecting it to take the entire day.
APPLE got her AOL and Cox outgoing e-mail working, but The Cat on My Head still couldn’t send mail. The next call to our domain host company ended up shutting The Cat on My Head down completely—nothing in and nothing out. ARGH! ARGH!
Another call to APPLE and another Call to West Host and (how she isn’t sure) all ingoing and outgoing mail is working in all accounts. Yippee!
But APPLE released an update today (El Capitan), to fix bugs in their OS X Yosemite operating system. They suggested that installing that might help the glitches that were causing her computer to freeze up. So she installed!
All e-mail continued to work, so she was elated and, may we say, optimistic about getting on with some things she needed to do for Cat Scouts!
She went to piZap and started working on a photo and after about an hour, everything looked purrfect. Okay, pick save to computer, fill in a name for her creation, pick where it should be saved and hit SAVE. Boink! SAVE…Boink! No matter what she tried all she heard was Boink! Boink! Boink! Well you get the idea. Nothing was happening. Once again the computer was frozen! ARGH! ARGH! ARGH!
Okay, spend an hour trying to figure out why this didn’t work. Finally give up and try another photo editor: Create…save…freeze…Boink! And another photo editor: Create..save…freeze…Boink! Again, we think you get the idea!
ARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGH!
We are pretty surprised we didn’t hear any HBO words. We think she didn’t have the energy to utter them. Or purrhaps she is saving them for her next call to APPLE!
Whatever…it’s now Thursday and none of us are feeling very thankful.
Purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
p.s. All of this is the reason we didn’t do any visiting yesterday. And we are not holding out hope for today. Purrlease forgive us.
Your articles are extremely helpful to me. Please provide more information!
I抎 need to verify with you here. Which is not something I normally do! I enjoy reading a submit that can make individuals think. Additionally, thanks for allowing me to remark!
Uh oh. That isn’t good. Glad you found a fix.
Oh dear!! Sounds like Mom needs some lovins’, Kitties Blue!! We hope it all gets sorted soon! Mum has all Apple and has not had a problem so far in about five years! xxx
Computer problems are the worst! So sorry that you are having to deal with all of that… My Macbook acts a little wonky sometimes too, whenever I restart it. I just don’t think there is such a thing as a perfectly working computer! D: Anyway, good luck and hope everything gets resolved soon, for your sanity! Sending lots of hugs and love your way, and Sampy sends a kiss to Astrid for every computer (working and non-working) in the world!
I’ve done pre- and post-technology. When technology came into our lives and began consuming everything in its site, my mantra was “what happens when it all shuts down?”. I used to call businesses and hear “can you call back in a couple of hours, our computers are down.” Ridiculous. Computers are the best and worst thing that’s happened! Take a break, sit out on the porch and look at nature while sipping some tea or something. We should all be here when you get back! Hugs and good luck. This too shall pass! 😀
Tell Mom not to pull her hair out, we all know computer problems are a pain and understand why she can’t visit.
I am so sorry! Hang in there, though. This too shall pass. I have been having trouble for awhile. My netbook and PC are old, slow, outdated, and two pita’s. I pray for a new laptop, maybe from good old St. Nick?
☺❤

How frustrating ! Computer problems always mean HBO words here ! We hope it’s fixed soon. Purrs
We know how frustrating computer things can be. About a year ago Mom was unable to connect to the internet AT ALL. Dad’s laptop was working all the iPads were working. She tried all kinds of remedies she could on her own and finally broke down and took it to a GEEK guy. He charged her $140 and it still does work. Now the funny part. IT will connect with any other wifi just not our home wifi. She called the GEEK guy about coming out to the house and it was $100 per hr. NOpe not gonna put anymore $$ into this. So she just bought a new laptop — no problem with WIFI. This was all because of being forced to update from Win 8 to Win 8.1. So when Windows “kindly” wanted to force us onto Win 10 she figured out how to disable that so she wouldn’t be forced to do that. When she wants, IF she wants Win 10 she’ll go out & buy a new laptop but she hopes to stay with this one until it blows up. Dad is still on WIN 7. Do you keep your photos on external hard drive for back up?

Wow, poor mom. M is so thankful she has her SIL when she has problems like that. Technology is great when it WORKS!
So Sorry…

No wonder your Mom is going bananas – our Mum would been too. We hope someone can find out what is causing the problem and tell her so it can be fixed.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Oh, no. We hope that the technical gremlins are gone soon so your human can get back to paying attention to you instead of saying HBO words to the computer.
OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!! Well that’s just not acceptable! Computer problems are such a pain in the tushie and we “get” that…..in fact Mom’s taking hers in today because our CD/DVD drive isn’t reading discs but at least everything else is working like a top. Hope you can resolve this SOON – Mom says let her know if she can do anything for Mau at Scouts though OK?????
Love and Hugs, Sammy
Oh we hate computer problems!!! Computer wishes and good vibes being sent your way until the problem is solved!!!
In France they woud say: Bon courage!
Oh geez… when computer problems happen here, there are NOTHING but HBO words coming out of my human’s mouth! I don’t know where she learned them all. I hope yours are fixed soon!
We certainly feel your computer pain. The most frustrating thing in the world is when our technology doesn’t work. I give you mucho kudos for staying with it as long as you did. I hope things are straightened out soon. Sending you good thoughts (Sophie is sending purrs…)
Oh, dear. That is furry annoying to say the least.
We have apples here, and we love to eat them, MOL!
We also have Apple confusers and so far no troubles. We make all our pictures on a parallels program that runs windows inside the Mac as a virtual machine. Then we copy our code and put it in our regular mac…we do not have emails from out of our web pages, just regular emails. Run box, no troubles evfur! Well, unless they are doing maintenance, which is infrequent and they warn us.
Take care, keep calm and pet your kitties!!
Hi there! I too have Apple and Macs….so sorry you are having issues…I was about to download the new OS to my iMac and my Mac Book Pro…hmmmm….well maybe not! I too will call Apple on this as I have enough issues with the above puters and I do not need to open a can of worms! So sorry for all you are going through…total stinks to high heavens! Love your blog and love your kitties:) Wishing you a good night and forget about APPLE until tomorrow…sleep well if you can and know I’m with ya and praying hard for all to be fixed asap!
How frustrating!
This qualifies your Mom for some down time and kitteh lovin. (and maybe a few niptinis!)
We hope she gets it worked out soon, that stuff can nearly drive you round the bend!
