THANK CEILING CAT IT’S ALMOST OVER!

That’s right, in just a few more hours all those snarky campaign commercials will come to an end. Someone will win the election, and it will be safe to turn on the television once again. Though, we are not too sure what the newscasters and late night talk show hosts will find to talk about. MOUSES!

We kitties decided long ago who would be getting our votes. We’ve had one of their campaign buttons on our sidebar for months now.

2016-vote-copy

That’s right, those popular and sane donkeys, Smoke and Joe (Marg’s Animals), are getting all eight of our kitty votes.

Our parental units are not saying which candidate will get their votes. Mom says this is a cat blog, and she doesn’t want Kitties Blue to lose any friends if our readers don’t like Dad’s and her selection of who they believe should run our country.

Everyone has the freedom, privilege and right to make their decision based on their beliefs and then cast their vote.

Anyhoo, whoever you and your humans think should be the next President of these great United States…

MOM IS PULLING HER HAIR OUT

mom

So the frustration level at our house is at DEFCON 1. What does that mean? If our mom could drop a nuclear bomb on APPLE and her MacBook Air, we are pretty sure she would.

A couple months ago, she got a new MacBook Air. She had pretty much worn out her old one, and her Apple Care three-year contract had expired.

Mom has never been able to get some things to work correctly, like migrating her photos to the new computer. And the screen would act wonky sometimes, freezing the entire computer.

We could never get our outgoing mail for The Cat on My Head to work. For a while we were able to use one of our other servers to send it, then that stopped working. Then a few days ago all our outgoing mail stopped working. ARGH!

Mom had appointments all day Tuesday and set Wednesday aside to try to fix things—not expecting it to take the entire day.

APPLE got her AOL and Cox outgoing e-mail working, but The Cat on My Head still couldn’t send mail. The next call to our domain host company ended up shutting The Cat on My Head down completely—nothing in and nothing out. ARGH! ARGH!

Another call to APPLE and another Call to West Host and (how she isn’t sure) all ingoing and outgoing mail is working in all accounts. Yippee!

But APPLE released an update today (El Capitan), to fix bugs in their OS X Yosemite operating system. They suggested that installing that might help the glitches that were causing her computer to freeze up. So she installed!

All e-mail continued to work, so she was elated and, may we say, optimistic about getting on with some things she needed to do for Cat Scouts!

She went to piZap and started working on a photo and after about an hour, everything looked purrfect. Okay, pick save to computer, fill in a name for her creation, pick where it should be saved and hit SAVE. Boink! SAVE…Boink! No matter what she tried all she heard was Boink! Boink! Boink! Well you get the idea. Nothing was happening. Once again the computer was frozen! ARGH! ARGH! ARGH!

Okay, spend an hour trying to figure out why this didn’t work. Finally give up and try another photo editor: Create…save…freeze…Boink! And another photo editor: Create..save…freeze…Boink! Again, we think you get the idea!

ARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGHARGH!

We are pretty surprised we didn’t hear any HBO words. We think she didn’t have the energy to utter them. Or purrhaps she is saving them for her next call to APPLE!

Whatever…it’s now Thursday and none of us are feeling very thankful.

p.s. All of this is the reason we didn’t do any visiting yesterday. And we are not holding out hope for today. Purrlease forgive us.

CB WEEKLY PLANNER CALENDAR: IT’S OUR TURN

Did y’all notice which kitties are featured in your CB Weekly Planner Calendar this week? That’s right, it is us, Kitties Blue.

If you don’t have the 2015 CB Weekly Planner Calendar, here’s what you are missing.

cb weekly planner calendar

We sure are super cute, don’t you think?

Truffle and Brulee’s mom, Paula (Sweet Purrfections), created our collage and the CB Weekly Planner Calendar. She’s currently working on the 2016 version. We’ve already submitted our photos. Our mom created our collage this time. Here’s your sneak peek.

cb weekly planner calendar

If you look closely, you’ll notice that two of us are missing. We were limited to six photos, and Mauricio and Misty May didn’t make the cut. Mom says that she couldn’t find any photos with more than one of us that she liked well enough to include. We really don’t know how this became about her, but we suspect there will be heck to pay when Misty May and Mauricio see the final calendar. Mom better not leave any of her shoes unattended.

You still have time to submit your photos for the 2016 CB Weekly Planner Calendar. Click on the badge below for details.

VOLLEY CATS

We had nothing for you today…nada, nichts, rien, nic nie, ingenting, 아무것도! Well, you get the idea.

So mom decided we should share a photo from about six weeks ago when our dad went to Detroit for the USA Volleyball Championships. She thinks it will be a good set up to share other volleyball photos with you in the next two weeks.

We know you are wondering why she would do that. After all, this is a cat blog. Yep, it is, but our Cat Dad is in South Korea for the volleyball competition at the World University Games, and she knows she will need to share some photos of him. And maybe Dad will find some Korean cats to share with us as well! He and Mom are always on the lookout for kitties when they travel out of town or out of the country.

Here’s Dad with some feline friends—the purrfect match volley cats.

So that’s it for today. We’ll see if we can do better tomorrow with something related to us, the irrepressible and fascinating Kitties Blue.

TIPS FOR MOVING WITH YOUR PET

This is not only kitten season but also the time of year (with school out for the summer) when families move. We have two neighbors in the process right now. Both dads have been transferred due to the companies they work for moving out of the area. One family has two cats and the other has a cat and two dogs. Our cat friends, Savvy and Sage from Savannah’s Paw Tracks, also will be moving at the end of the summer.

Moving is stressful for the entire family and can cause your pets to experience anxiety. Cats especially don’t like change. From listing, with prospective buyers traipsing through your home, to selling and the actual packing and relocation to new surroundings, stress can intensify.

By following the tips in the infographic below, you can provide a less stressful move for both your family and your pets.

movingI’d like to thank Taylor’s Relocations of Adelaide and Melbourne, Australia, for their infographic. And I’d like to offer a few additional moving tips of my own:

  • If you are one of those individuals or families who do allow your pet to go outside, stop doing so at least a few days prior to the move. You do not want to be packed and ready to leave and unable to find kitty.
  • Do not leave open packing boxes around the house. We know how much kitties love boxes, and we’ve all heard stories about cats being sealed in moving boxes.
  • If you are still planning on allowing kitty outdoors after moving, it is essential that you wait several weeks before doing so. And when you do allow this, go with your feline friend and only stay out ten or fifteen minutes at a stretch. Allow puss to become familiar with its new surroundings while under your supervision. I suggest continuing to accompany your pet for a few weeks.

I know from first hand experience that cats will try to return to the home they know. When I was six years old, our cat, Tiger, walked back to our old house. By the time we were reunited he was in such bad shape my parents had no recourse but to have him euthanized.

Better yet, this could be the right time to retrain your pet to be an inside kitty only. Extra playtime with you can help eliminate some of the anxiety and pent-up energy of your now housebound cat.

If you are planning a move this summer, Kitties Blue hope you will find these tips to be helpful. And if you have any additional ones to share, please do so in a comment.

Get Ready to Party

movingOn Caturday we will be celebrating Calista Jo’s third birthday. We’ll “doll” her up for the celebration as well as Athena and Marie’s Caturday Art Blog Hop. Hope you will join us. We’ll be giving away some swag from the BlogPaws conference.

Special Father’s Day Sunday Selfies

Cat4-001We’ll be sharing a special selfie for Father’s Day, and we look forward to seeing what each of you have to offer. Consider including your dad in your photo. Of course, anything goes, and all anipals are invited.

We had our best turnout last week with 60 entries (including our own). And we only have a couple more blogs to visit. It warms our hearts that so many of our friends enter every week and that we continue to have new entrants. Thanks!

STUCK IN THE THROES OF THE WINTER BLAHS

Mom says that we have been SO boring lately, which does not make for having a good blog…or any blog for that matter. This winter is dragging on forever. It’s been cold and snowy, and we don’t feel like doing anything but lolling around the house. We’d like to be on the Catio and watch the squirrels and birds. The humans won’t let us go outside unless the temperature goes above 32 degrees F. Even on days when that happens, we don’t want to spend much time there.

So this is what we have been doing.

winter

Lisbeth: I am lying in a weak sunpuddle on the heated kitchen floor alternately playing with the corner of the rug and bathing. (Enlarge the photo to see my raspberry red tongue.)

winter

Astrid: Mau and I are hanging out on the cat tower, mostly napping when not being disturbed by the photographer. Even Mauricio, who has a love affair with the camera, cannot muster a smile as he ponders the pawful weather we have been having.

winter

Astrid: It’s me again, inhabiting a paper bag this time. Nothing exciting there. As you all know, I am the resident bag lady. (No comments needed about the handles, purrlease…I was not left unsupervised!)

winter

This is what we saw when we looked out the window this morning. We have four new inches of snow on top of about 12 inches of old snow. Okay, so it’s not Boston, but we still don’t like it. And our mom’s super case of the winter blahs is obviously starting to wear off on us. Even visiting and commenting on all our furiends’ blogs has become a bit of a chore, especially when it interrupts our sulking. Please forgive us. We promise to do better beginning today.

Mom says that she’ll try to dazzle you all tomorrow with one of her crazy art creations for Athena and Marie’s Caturday Art Blog Hop.

And don’t forget that we will be hosting our Sunday Selfies Blog Hop again this weekend. If you haven’t pawticipated yet, give it a whirl. It’s easy and fun. Once you submit your photo, you have all day to enjoy your “easy,” which is the best part!

CATS IMITATE ART

We are having ridiculously cold weather and are lying around the house like a bunch of sloths. Mom told us we could do a Friday Flashback post since we’re being totally uninteresting. Our task was to find a post with no comments from our early days of blogging.

The only post we found, that wasn’t a Christmas post from 2012, was about cat puke. The post was pretty funny, and you can read it here if you like. We, however, were not in the mood to embarrass ourselves so told the typist we had come up short.

Then she sent us to our photo archives. She’d been saving this photo for Caturday Art, but we convinced her to use it today.

CATS IMITATE ART

Does it remind you of anything? Could it be the “Creation of Adam” by Michelangelo from the Sistine Chapel?

cats imitate art

Yep, that’s the one.

We can tell you that Lily Olivia (left in the top photo) and Misty May would not have used this inadvertant touch for creating anything. Had either one realized what was happening, each would have been wishing for magical powers to zap the other right out of existence.

Back in September 2012, Mom did a Cat Imitates Art post on a Wordless Wednesday. It featured original Kitty Blue, Skooter. It was not on such a grandiose scale art wise. We had two comments on that one: Mom’s friend and her daughter. If you’d like to see it, click here.

Tomorrow, we will be joining Athena and Marie for their Caturday Art Blog Hop, and Sunday we will be hosting our Sunday Selfies Blog Hop. Hope the two-day reminder will give lots of you the opportunity to join us. We also have another Sharkie and Blue adventure (most likely their last before returning home) to share with you on Monday or Tuesday.

GRUMPY CAT VIDEO

We all know Grumpy Cat (aka Tardar Sauce) the 2 1/2 year old cat who has become a media sensation. She even has her own movie, Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever, debuting on Lifetime on November 29 at 8 p.m.

The Cat on My Head was asked by UZoo to share Grumpy Cat’s latest video with you. (This video is no longer available.)

The video promoted Grumpy Cat’s recently published book, The Grumpy Guide to Life: Observations from Grumpy Cat.

Hope you enjoyed the video. You can see more cat videos by copying this URL into your browser: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1Kzf-RX5Ge90riNddBz1wO1yjeSnWupS.

Disclaimer: We were not compensated monetarily for this post but we have been promised a shout out on UZoo’s Facebook and Twitter pages and a link to our blog on their videos.

PLEASE HELP OUR FRIENDS

[follow_me]
I am hanging my head in shame as once again I am reneging on my promise to Mau. He won’t be posting today about his surprise birthday party at Cat Scouts. When he found out the reason his post is being postponed again, he promised not to retaliate. His troop mate and our friend, Cat Scout Dezi, and her family need our help.

Cat Scout Dezi

If you don’t know our sweet friends, Dezi, her sis Lexi and Mom Audra, I encourage you to drop my their blog, DezizWorld. Dezi and Lexi are service cats who help Mom Audra with her day-to-day needs, like driving her wheelchair. And the three of them are the most caring and loving individuals you will ever meet.

More than two months ago, their apartment was flooded by a broken pipe in another apartment. Before any repairs were made, this same thing happened again. The management of the complex has been thoughtless, cruel and unhelpful when it comes to correcting all the problems that have occurred as a result of the flooding. Though the carpet finally has been replaced and the apartment painted, some personal and essential items were ruined by the flooding.

Friends Lexi

Lexi

Right now Mom Audra needs a new mattress for her bed, and a reclining chair where she can keep her feet up. Lexi is now 15 years old, and the girls need stairs they can use to get up on the bed. In order to help procure these things, Savannah and Sage’s mom, Linda, from Savannah’s Paw Tracks, has set up a YouCaring campaign. You can read much more about Dezi, Lexi and Audra’s circumstances and need at the YouCaring site. I have added the YouCaring link to the side bar. By clicking on the title, “Righting a Wrong…” you can read our friends’ story. If you click on the word, “GIVE,” you will be taken directly to the donation page.

I pray that you can open your hearts by contributing to this campaign and help our lovely friends obtain these few things they desperately need. No amount is too small. If you also can share about Dezi, Lexi and Audra’s need on Twitter, Facebook and your blog, that too would be so helpful.

Kitties Blue and I are sending purrs and prayers to our special friends, Dezi, Lexi and Audra, and ask you to do the same whether or not you can make a donation.

Thank you, Mom Janet, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
