We are taking the day off so our mom can post something super embarrassing. We have to blame our furiend, Spitty‘s, mom, Mary, as she’s the one who gave our mom the idea. Mom Mary posted an Easter photo of a friend and herself from their childhood.
Though this post is about our mom, we kitties agreed to do the writing.
Mom always says that she sees her life through photographs. The one she is sharing she sees everyday. It is in the family/friend photo gallery in our foyer.
When Mom was growing up, her paternal grandmother was the photographer for the family. If she didn’t attend an event, no photos were taken. Whenever Mom was staying with her grandparents, which was often everyday, she would spend hours looking at her grandma’s photo albums. If an event occurred for which there were no photos, Mom says that it seems as if it never really happened.
Without further blathering or setting the scene, here is the photo as it would have looked in Mom’s grandmother’s album.
This was Mom and her sister, Judy. The photo was taken on Easter in 1953 when Mom was four and her sister almost eleven. What do you think of those matching dresses? As far as our mom remembers, it was the only time they were ever dressed alike.
With their age difference, Mom and her sister were never very close until they were well into adulthood, and by that time Mom was living in Virginia while her sister remained in California. Judy died several years ago…so now Mom remembers their lives through photographs.
We are posting this today as we will be joining Athena and Marie‘s Caturday Art Blog Hop on Saturday and hosting our Sunday Selfies Blog Hop on Easter Sunday.
We also are joining Create With Joy’s Friendship Friday Blog Hop.
Wishing everyone who celebrates this holiday a very Happy Easter.

This is such an adorable picture down memory lane. It’s a treasure to have the old photos your dear grandma took.
Aw! Sweet. TW’s family never took photos and when they did the Easter and Christmas pics would be on the same roll. Black and white, of course.
What an adorable photo! We could tell which one was your mom before you told us – she looks the same! Beautiful and happy! 🙂 Mom says that one of her favorite things to do at her grandma’s house was look through all her photo albums too. Now that she has died, Mom’s mom has all of those photos! We hope you are all having a wonderful Easter weekend.
Sampy sends Astrid a bazillion kisses, one for ever Easter there has ever been, and we are all sending lots of love!

We don’t think this photo is embarrassing! It’s really sweet, and a what a super special memory. 🙂

What a wonderful photo memory. Mom loves to look at old photos and reminisce.
That’s a sweet photo – sweet smiles and cute dresses. My Mom says while her Mom HATED sewing, one year she made my Mom’s Easter dress……it took her like six months to make it and thank heavens it didn’t fall apart on Easter Sunday that year (haha). My Mom and her sister are ten years apart and only when my Mom got older did she and her sister become BEST BUDDIES. Thanks for sharing!!!
How wonderful to have photos to mark milestones in one’s life. Our parents don’t have many photos of themselves but they sure have lots of us, their fur babies.
Purrs to all and loads of Nose Kisses to my sweet Ms Lisbeth.

What a sweet photo!
Meowmy has some pics like that of herself and her older sister…in dresses the same, though usually the color was different. A lot of them, grand-meowmy sewed them all…but alas nine of them are scanned into media to post them, maybe that isn’t so bad so then nobody will feel ‘barassed too much, MOL!
Have a great Easter!
And you girls sure were cuties!
