Friendly Friday Fill-Ins

INTERNATIONAL BOX DAY FUN & FILL-INS

Feline Friday

International Box Day badge.

I had planned to share a photo of Raleigh and Cooper Murphy today, but that was before I realized that today is International Box Day. So, you have to wait for that one until Monday.

Instead here are the whippersnappers enjoying a box.

Friendly Fill-Ins

The Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop is hosted each Friday by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). They publish the fill-in sentences on their blogs each Thursday. To participate in the hop, click on the badge at the left. I completed all the fill-ins without any help from Kitties Blue and used teal italics for filling in.

1. Let’s bring back kindness and taking personal responsibility for our actions.

2. Spending too much time staring at a screen of some type is the new norm for many individuals.

3. I appreciate that my local area has a variety of recreational opportunities, especially the Roanoke River Greenway which offers miles and miles of bike/walking paths.

4. Summer heat and humidity is my least favorite part about where I live.

Thanks for stopping by to see us today. We’ll be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art.

TWO HANDSOME GINGERS & FILL-INS

Feline Friday

Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to spend a couple of hours with the two ginger, tiny terrorists. They, however, are not so tiny anymore. I had hoped they might remember me, but they did not. It took them a little while to warm up to me, but they eventually did.

A collage with three handsome cats: a ginger and white tabby, a ginger tabby and a white and brown tabby.

Clockwise from the upper left corner: Oscar, Oliver, Oscar & Oliver, older brother Winston.

They also have a older sister named Allie.

I cannot believe how big and handsome these two have become. They were such little imps. Here’s a bit of a reminder.

Handsome ginger and white kitten.

Like Gibbs and Tali, they both find water fascinating. They taught themselves how to turn on the kitchen faucet, which their mom, Pam, has to keep fastened with a zip tie.

The boys will be participating in the Feline Friday blog hop hosted by messymimi’s meanderings. To join, click on the badge below.

Stinky kindly completed fill-in #3 this week. I used teal italics to complete the sentences. Any explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. I’d like to learn how to play backgammon.

2. Something I tried to make that was an epic fail was one of Cat Scout Sammy’s (Ellen’s now angel) Easter craft projects at Scouts. (We were supposed to cover plastic eggs with strips of cloth. I never could get the strips to stick.)

3. Stinky: I want to design an epic adventure for Periwinkle and myself. (If anyone has any suggestions, please let Stinky know in the comments.)

4. A variety of flavored twizzlers is a special treat I get from The Cheese Shop in Stuarts Draft, VA. (It is Virginia’s largest Amish-style bulk foods store.)

Thank you for stopping by to visit today. We will be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY & FILL-INS

Feline & Flashback Friday

On June 1st, I received a note from our vet wishing Audrey a happy birthday. Then on June 3rd, I received one wishing Raleigh a happy birthday. Obviously their birthday is the same day, and I never knew the exact date. Usually our vet will assign a date based on what their physical development is when I take them in for the first time. So, it would seem that is somewhere at the beginning of June.

Their Gotcha Day is July 26, 2022. Today for the Feline Friday blog hop, I am sharing a photo taken the day after they arrived here.

At that time, we had not named them and were calling then Kitten #1 and Kitten #2. As this is somewhere close to their date of birth, I asked Cooper Murphy to bake them a cake.

I think Cooper Murphy outdid himself with this cake. Mau definitely would be proud of him.

I hope you will help us celebrate and join us for some grilled shrimpies, cake, beverages and nip ice cream.

Today we are joining the Feline Friday blog hop hosted by messymimi’s meanderings and also the Flashback Friday blog hop hosted by the Five Sibes. To join one or both, click on the appropriate badge below.

To participate in the hop, click on the badge at the left. I was left to do all the fill-ins myself this week. I used teal italics to complete the sentences. Any explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. My plans for June include getting together with my friend Mary Jane and my friend Tammy. (They are both school nurses and are now off for the summer.)

2. Flying alone to France at age 16 to tour Europe and attend a summer program at the American College in Paris without knowing any of the other participants is the bravest thing I have ever done.

3. I swear by living with multiple cats as a cure for loneliness.

4. As if Trump wasn’t bad enough, most of his appointees also are idiots.

Thanks for stopping in today. We’ll be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art.

ONLY A CAT WOULD BE COMFORTABLE

Feline Friday

A white and calico kitten on a cat tree with her head hanging down, but she is comfortable, as she is a cat!

I have created a bonus puzzle for today.

2. Sometimes Gibbs is the most unusual item in my refrigerator

3. My ability not to procrastinate is lacking.

4. I have more than enough weeds in the yard from the recent rains.

FELINE FRIDAY WITH GIBBS & FILL-INS

Feline Friday

Gibbs spends a major amount of time glued to me, especially if he is sleeping.

1. I would be willing to pay more for the perfect vacation.

2. I refuse to spend money on fast food.

3. My guest room is a bit chaotic.

4. A fun fact about me is that I was kissed by Rick Springfield.

Thanks for stopping in today. We’ll be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art.

CATCHING UP WITH OSCAR & OLIVER & FILL-INS

Feline Friday

Two tabby cats playing with a track toy and catching up.

Gibbs and Tali’s brothers, Oscar and Oliver, are thriving in their forever home. I wish I could get updates on their other four siblings.

We have the same orange track toy. When all the kittens were here, I had the toy in their enclosure. Oscar and Oliver have one as well and seem to still enjoy paying with it.  It also is one of Gibbs favorite toys.

Oscar and Oliver will be participating in the Feline Friday blog hop hosted by messymimi’s meanderings. To do the same, click on the badge below.

I had some help filling in this week from both Tali and Audrey. We all used teal italics to complete the sentences.

1. I think the word or phrase, “it is what it is” is overused.

2. Tali: I am embarrassed to admit that I bit my mom’s leg through the covers and bedspread, punctured her skin and left teeth marks.

3. Audrey: I wish I could convince Mom and Dad to give us treats more often.

4. I could identify each cat by their paw steps even if I were blindfolded.

That’s it for today. Thanks for stopping in to see us. Kitties Blue and I will return tomorrow with some Caturday Art.

HUMAN CAT FURNITURE

Feline Friday

This is a typical day at the House of Blue Cats. If it is not the kittens treating me like furniture, then it is Kizmet or Calista Jo (who has taken over my lap as I write this post).

The kittens, Gibbs and Tali, will be participating in the Feline Friday blog hop hosted by messymimi’s meanderings. To do the same, click on the badge below.

Another Heartbreaking Good-Bye

Mom Ellen and Dad David’s beautiful and sweet Penny (15AndMeowing) was helped to the Rainbow Bridge on Thursday as the result of failing health.

Kitties Blue and I are sending Ellen and David all our love and hugs as they grieve the devastating loss of their beautiful tortie girl.

I completed three of the fill-ins this week. Stinky and I both did #1. Stinky also completed #2. We used teal italics to fill in the blanks.

1. I know I am having a good day when I am laughing.

1. Stinky: I know I am having a good day when I am adventuring with Periwinkle.

2. Stinky: I am happy when I am with Periwinkle.

3. Not being able to button my clothes makes me feel helpless.

4. I have a lot of confidence in my ability to write and edit.

Thanks for visiting us today. If you have the opportunity, please visit Ellen and David and leave your condolences.

A SPRING IN SPRING & FILL-INS

Feline Friday

A collage of two photos with kittens playing with a blue spring on a springtime background.

Gibbs and Tali absolutely love playing with springs any time of the year. Of course, they lose them easily under appliances and furniture. This one is most likely under the refrigerator. I haven’t checked under it recently.

The kittens will be participating in the Feline Friday blog hop hosted by  messymimi’s meanderings. To do the same, click on the badge below.

I received no help from any of the kitties with the fill-ins this week. I used my usual teal italics to fill in the blanks. Explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. When I need to make a tough decision, I usually end up not being able to sleep, as I keep going over it in my mind.

2. If I were a dance, I would be a super slow one. (I always loved to dance, and when I was a youngster wanted to be a professional dancer, but my neuromuscular disease meant that was not possible. And now being unable to balance without assistance, I cannot dance.)

3. “Believe in Silver Linings” is my current life motto. (This has been my motto for a very, very long time, which is why it is tattooed on my arm.)

A tattoo with the words, "Believe in Silver Linings" with two stars.

4. Making one’s own decisions without having to consult parents or ask permission is the best part of being an adult, and an aging body that is unable to do things it once could is the worst part.

GIBBS, TREVOR NOAH & FILL-INS

Feline Friday

A white and black cat (Gibbs) on top of a TV pawing at the screen on which comedian Trevor Noah appears.

First, I must apologize for the very blurry photo.

Additionally, I am not certain if Gibbs was whapping Trevor Noah because he didn’t like his joke or was giving him a pat on the head and saying, “Atta boy!” Thankfully, Gibbs, the ninja warrior, did not push the television over onto the floor.

Gibbs will be participating in the Feline Friday blog hop at messymimi’s meanderings. To do the same, click on the badge below.

Audrey often helps me out, and she did so again today by filling in #3. We both used teal italics to fill in the blanks.

The fill-ins are a bit different this week, as they are all questions. I felt as if I should answer them, but I decided not to do so.

1. Have you ever noticed how the weather guessers are often wrong?

2. Would you choose cake or pie?

3. Audrey: Do you think it’s possible to trick your humans into giving you extra treats by looking and acting extra cute?

4. What book would you recommend for all your friends to read?

Thanks for dropping by the blog today. Kitties Blue and I hope you will return tomorrow when we will share some art for the Caturday Art blog hop.

OUR THREE BOYS & FILL-INS

Feline Friday

Though the temperature was in the 90s, Raleigh, Gibbs and Cooper Murphy were enjoying some catio time. The boys will be participating in the Feline Friday blog hop at messymimi’s meanderings. To do the same, click on the badge below.

I was only own this week to complete all four fill-ins. I used teal italics to fill in the blanks. Any explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. If I had to choose a fictional world to live in it would be Wonderland.

2. What Dreams May Come is a book or movie that changed my life. (The 1998 movie is a fantasy/drama adapted from a 1978 novel by Richard Matheson. It stared Robin Williams.)

3. As a kid, I gave myself the name Ginny. (Ginny dolls were popular in the 50s. My best friend, who also was named Janet, and I each had a Ginny doll, and we called each other by that name. The Ginny doll had a trunk and a wardrobe, and I still have mine. Unfortunately, I do not remember where in this house I have put her.)

4. If I had a parrot, I would teach it to say, Gibbs, no!

Thank you for coming by to visit us today. We plan to be here again tomorrow with some Caturday Art.
