Caturday Art & a Confession
Mom thinks I have been being a bit of a stinker lately. I must disagree. I have been a bit unpredictable, but she says right at the top of this page, “Cats are Predictably Unpredictable!” So, I think she needs to get over herself and accept a smidge of tortie
terrorism tortitude.
Before I show you the artistic rendering of my adorable self for today’s Caturday Art Blog Hop, let me fill you in. Many of you know that I am, for the most part, a first-floor occupant. It wasn’t always this way. When Lisbeth and I first joined the Kitties Blue, I spent as much time upstairs as any other kitty. Then I just stopped going to the second floor. Mom suspects it was because Misty May likes to bully me. Of course, as a puss, I am not telling her my reasons.
Anyhoo, occasionally I’d sneak upstairs just before breakfast but usually go no further than the landing. Lately, however, I have been showing my tortitude by going to the second floor whenever the mood strikes me. I meander through all the rooms where the doors are open, explore the tops of tables and dressers and get on the humans’ bed. I think this is where the stinker part comes in. I have been showing up on the bed as early as 3:30 a.m. I turn on my wood-chipper-loud purr and poke, prod, rub and walk all over Mom. I try to get under the covers, but if Mom lifts them for me, I don’t go under. I generally just make a nuisance of myself. Do you know why I do it in the middle of the night? ‘Cause all my fursibs are snoozing and don’t know I’m there.
Thursday night, after I had been bugging Mom for about an hour, she got up to pee. When she came back, Misty May got right on her pillow and blocked my return with her dirty looks and stink-eye. To make up for my lack of pestering time, I took a nap with Mom yesterday afternoon. And though my jet-engine purr was cranked up all the way, I snuggled in next to her and let her rest. She LOVED it and so did I!
Now, I suspect you want to know why she was napping in the afternoon. 1. She’s old! 2. She’s retired. 3. She and Dad got up super early and rode the tandem across town so each could get their free Krispy Kreme doughnut for National Doughnut Day. It got broiling hot super fast and the air could have been wrung out from the humidity. The 23-plus miles kicked them in their butts. I don’t know why they just didn’t go to Dunkin’ Donuts. It’s less than a mile from here. They teased each other that they were going to go there as well and get another free doughnut each. They didn’t!
Now that I have flapped my gums, do you want to see my art? Hope so, ’cause here it comes. (The photo at the top is the original, blurry one Mom used as the basis for our art.)
Mom did little to my photo this week. She used the Pewter overlay from Dreamscope. To that she added a Light Trails texture from PicMonkey and finally a frame from PhotoFaceFun. Below is the interim photo with just the Pewter overlay.
This is actually my favorite of the photos. But we all know how crazy my mom is for that turquoise color. She couldn’t leave a good thing alone.

Sunday Selfies
Tomorrow is week #95 for our blog hop. It is going to be an extra special one for us. The only hint I am going to give you is that we will have two guest hosts. That is a first! We look forward to seeing your entries.
Sorry for my super long-winded post. Hope you were able to stick it out until the end.
Purrs and paw-pats, Astrid with love and a quadrillion kisses for my sweet Sampy
Astrid, Sampson is so excited to hear that your tortitude is coming through and that you are feeling more confident! He is so proud of you and hopes that you continue to venture upstairs with your mom. He also says that you are looking as beautiful as ever in your photos – all versions of them. He sends a zillion billion trillion kisses, and we all send lots of love!!!
A nap with a kitty motor. What could be better? And I think Popoki, even though she is no tortie, has some of that torti-tude. She’s recently decided that she would like to stay in the basement rec room all of the time. She doesn’t even want to come into the writing room with her lonely mother. As you say, she’s predictably unpredictable like most cats. Here’s hoping she gets brave like Astrid soon!

your not a stinker you just want attention hoomans need to give us attention all the time mom keeps disappearing so she has to give me lots of love when she comes back your art is fantastic keep it up and thanks for sharing the app moms loves it too.
First, I adore tortie terrorism and your artwork is just gorgeous! Second, I don’t mind an afternoon nap myself and I’m not (very) old or retired MOL!
Astrid, you are just being a purrfect cat … it’s your feline right. Right? 🙂
We think your mom and dad deserve more donuts for riding 23 miles for the ones they already ate. Just saying. 🙂
I like your art. I hope your peeps got an iced coffee or something for the ride back. If they would have gone to Dunkin Donuts like TW did, they would have had to buy a beverage so the donut wasn’t really free. TW called me a bitch last night cos I wouldn’t go to bed. I stayed up yowling and playing with the blinds. Then I jumped on the bed and tried to play with her face. She didn’t like that.
Your artsy picture is fantastic…of course. How could it be anything else with such a fantastic model.
Shoko
Even in your photo you kind of have that tortie air. I love the turquoise in your art. I think I agree with you and like the bottom photo best.
Astrid! Yous a purrfect Cat From Hell!
Kisses
Nellie

That’s lovely art!
I love napping with my mum in the afternoon. She works from home and because I get her up at 4am she deserves a nap I think 🙂
Purrs xx

You make very nice art. No need for your Mom to make an excuse to nap, I love to nap with my cats. I am disappointed that I missed my free doughnut.
23 miles for a donut! Whew, that’s dedication. But I guess it’s worth it. It’s like a negative calorie donut by that point. Beautiful the art, Astrid.
Astrid you look positively beautiful in each of the renditions of artwork, you of course are a piece of art yourself. Mom thanks you for showing her Dreamscope. YOU were right last week in Caturday Art she used that effect on me, she is going to do more with it in the coming months. SHE loves it!!! So thank you. We appreciate that you mention how you create your artwork!
Love all your cattitude Astrid! A cat’s gotta do what a cat’s gotta do! Purrs from Deb and the Zee/Zoey gang.
Your art portrait is beautiful! As Angel Piper would say, “Tortie tortitude reigns supreme in any household!”
Your art is wonderful and so is your tortitude!
I love reading long posts. It means more kitty cuteness and shenanigans to enjoy!
You know, Astrid, a certain lady cat of mine (ahem, Thimble) likes to randomly stomp and prod and purr and trample all over her mommy in the middle of the night, too. Sometimes she gets called a little stinker, but more often than not I have no defense against her adorable face and just let her have whatever she wants. That all being said, I love your pictures, Astrid, both the original and the artsy ones. Like your mom, I love me some pretty turquoise, and so I really like that version a lot!
Purrs, and we’ll see you for tomorrow’s Sunday Selfie hop!
Tortitude rocks ! Your art is pretty. Zorro sends kisses for CJ and apologizes for the lack of visits : as you know, Claire was sick and we couldn’t access the computer. Purrs, Pixie
Astrid you are a great poser! Like the last one the best! Could you give Paprika some lessons? She doesn’t believe in cameras. Fun art! Have a great weekend.
Astrid’s, you are just showing your tortitude!
While it’s been 15 months since my Anget Spicy has left us, I still remember her very demanding yowl when she was hungry.
She also claimed my side as her spot and even tho she was the lightest of all my kitties, she ruled the house!
Now my tuxedo has taken her place by my side in bed and she also chirps in my ear to wake me up so I can hold open the covers. Sometimes she goes in but most times she just looks, then walks away!
No, you’re not a stinker. My mum probably thinks I am though. I sleep on the bed and every time she moves I walk up on her chest and meow at her as loud as I can. This can happen as much as every half hour or so, but I am only checking she is okay. I have only been doing it since I got ill though so she doesn’t really mind.
Your art is lovely.
Hey, tortietude comes wif da territory!
Nice art, Astrid! I have to say, you are almost as good at being annoying as Binga!
We know our peeps hate the humidity we get here, too.
There were no donuts at meowmy’s work today…sigh…well, she says she didn’t *need* one anyways, MOL!
Your artwork is evfur so pretty!
If you think you’re a stinker, I’m a BIG STINKER! I wake my Mom up at 1AM every morning these days demanding she feed me and follow me to my litterbox so I can pee and she can clean it up ASAP! Then I’m fussy and won’t let her go back to sleep. Thankfully she takes naps during the day when she can (when I’m asleep…haha) or she’d be a zombie by now. I’m just a fussy old man these days but I’m lucky to have an understanding (and tired) Mom! We love YOUR artsy art but then your Mom is the best when it comes to creating something dreamy with photos!
Love, Sammy
I’m good at getting my Momma’s attention while she sleeps. I have little kitty gymnastics where I use her as a trampoline or a balance beam (extra points for “slipping” and landing with your butt on her face). Sometimes I put my face in her face and just stare until she wakes up. I also like to stick my wet nose in her ear – or lick her ear – or even bite her ear. I also like to paw at her eyes or her mouth. I used to bat around cords before my Momma taped them to the walls. Now I have a super dramatic barf that gets her up and out of bed in less than 5 seconds – she’s always too freaked to go back to sleep.
You look so dreamy, Astrid! We think you should go wherever you want in YOUR house.
The humids have been terrible here, too. It makes our humans cranky. MOL!
