Today I am participating in the Friendly Fill-Ins hosted each Friday by Ellen from 15 And Meowing and Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. I have been wanting to do this for a few weeks but could never think of anything to share for my part of the fill-in.
Some of those who have been doing this have the sentences completed by their furry companion(s), and I may do that in the future as well. However, these are my answers for this week.
Ellen created the first two fill-ins and Annie the last two. My responses are in bold print.
1. The best money I ever spent was for my pool/spa as my 65th birthday present to myself, and the worst was for a perm that had Tom calling me poodle head.
2. My most memorable vacation was withTom(at) on a riverboat cruise through Russia in 2011.
Kizhi Island, Russia
3. Ithurts my heartwhenI lose a friend, no matter the reason.
4. Once, Iraised a wild baby bunny after it’s mom was hit and killed by a car. I named it Jelly Bean. When it was old enough we released it on the hill behind our house, which was covered in dense vegetation. We watched him eat his way down the hill.
This is a blog hop. You can enter your link at McGuffy’s Reader. The link is in the first paragraph.
National Doughnut Day
Held annually on the first Friday of June, Doughnut Day was established by The Salvation Army in 1938. The intention was to honor The Salvation Army’s “Doughnut Lassies,” who served the treats to soldiers during World War I. The “Doughnut Lassies” are often credited with popularizing the doughnut in the United States when the troops returned home from war.

I remember my first and only perm. My friend and I had recently left school and she was at college training to be a hairdresser. She asked if she could perm my hair and like a fool I said yes. It must have been the tightest curliest perm ever and it took forever to loosen up. Flynn recently posted…Eric’s Day Flashback – The Lookout.
Poodle head? He’s very, very brave! 🙂 We enjoyed your answers though! Our friend the Carrot Lady has a garden full of wild bunnies but she’s never touched one. Their videos and pictures are on her FB page under Mister the Bunny! BeadedTail recently posted…Finally Friday
Love the answer about the perm…I call that look frizzhead…and I used to have a lot of those times, MOL! But no longer…my head sports straight spiderweb thin hair…but its harder to keep looking good than the permed curls after they calmed down…sigh…
I would love to take a river cruise down the mighty Danube, through all the countries it traverses.
I was hoping you’d do the fill-ins! It’s so fun to get to know everyone with this challenge. Your answers are great! I got a perm once as a kid, and I’ll certainly never do it again. And I couldn’t agree with you more on #3 – losing a friend, whether furry or human, is heartbreaking. Purrs to you and all the Kitties Blue! The Menagerie Mom recently posted…Fill-Ins and Fire Drills
Oooooh! Perms! Ick! I can understand why that was the worst $ … I’d forgotten that horrible experience! The least bit of humidity & my hair stood on end and smelled horrid!!!!
Jelly Bean looks adorable – congratulations on successfully raising her.
That cruise sounds great.
Thank you for participating in the friendly fill-ins, I enjoyed your answers. That is great that you were able to care for the baby bunny, I have heard they rarely survive without their moms. I like all the photos you added too and that pool/spa sounds incredible. Ellen Pilch recently posted…Friendly Fill-Ins Week 4
YAY! You’re a Friday “Filler-Inner” too! Love your answers……guess what – my Mom had a perm once MANY YEARS AGO and her husband also called her Poodle Head…..she never had another perm! Have a Happy Friday and good weekend…..
Oh, my goodness! I am happy you joined us! Your #1 was priceless. Good for you. Shame on Tom! I want to take a Mississippi River cruise. My sister in law and her husband took a European river cruise last year. Losing a loved is hard; period. Wild baby bunnies are precious. It is hard to not get attached. Thank you for being part of Friendly Fill-Is. Hugs. ❤ McGuffy’s Reader recently posted…Fill-In Statements: Week 4
I am a feline fanatic. My
license plate reads “PRRFCT.”
I have lived with and cared
for 20 cats over the past 40+
years. The Cat on My Head
is a website dedicated to the
mostly comical and often
exasperating antics of seven
cats (Kitties Blue) and their
thirteen angel predecessors.
Many yesterdays have passed since
You gained your angel wings. Today
Is six months since you left us behind
To remember and mourn. Our hearts
Continue to hurt, and we miss
You as much as the day you left.
Giulietta whined from the catio
Yesterday as I worked in the yard.
I know you put her up to it. That
Was your way of getting me to,
Allow you to join me as I
Gardened. You were there with me
In spirit. With every meow
I thought of you and how much I miss
Your sweet face and disposition.
In these past few months, many friends
Have traveled your same path in your
paw-steps. I am certain you were
Waiting to greet them with purrs and hugs.
I pray you and your friends are laughing,
Frolicking and having fun together.
Picturing that makes me smile, but
Does not lessen my sadness at your
No longer being here to snuggle
And receive our love, care and kisses.
Fiona, please do not ever forget
You are still and always will be loved.
One year has passed since you flew away,
And I still think of you everyday.
I see your sweet face in my mind’s eye
And wish we’d never had to say good-bye.
It’s nice you’ve sent us kitties needing a family,
But my dearest love, we are now at capacity.
You thought it would take more than one cat
To take your place in our habitat.
We love Cooper Murphy and baby Sawyer dearly
But thinking either could replace you makes me teary.
You were one-of-a-kind and will stay in my heart
Until the day I join you and we’re no longer apart.
When once again I can hold you in my arms
And revel in all your love and feline charms.
Together with you and all who have passed.
I will spend eternity contemplating how blessed
I was to share my life with my furry children,
Each and every one of you one-in-a billion.
I don’t know how to say good-bye.
I thought you were invincible; though,
You used up many of your nine lives.
You ruled us all with an iron paw;
Never took “no” for an answer
And always got your way.
If not, you’d bark to signal your
Displeasure and sometimes raise a paw.
I always joked that you were bi-polar.
When I told people you were a calico
They immediately understood what I meant.
Today was unnaturally quiet in the house.
Can a home seem empty with eight cats?
I will miss waking up at night to find you
Sitting next to me and staring at me.
I will miss you yelling at us as you did
When you wanted breakfast and dinner.
I will miss watching you lounging and snoozing
On the porch settee on a warm afternoon.
But most of all I will miss your kisses!
When kitten Sawyer befriended you,
We suspect you were imparting your
Wisdom and secrets for controlling us.
Time will tell if he was a good listener.
But whatever he may have learned,
Neither Sawyer nor any other cat
Can or will replace you in our hearts.
Lily Olivia, you were one-of-a-kind.
It hurts my heart when I lose a furry friend.
: )
Love the fill-ins. Wow, a riverboat cruise through Russia – sounds wonderful!
