Thoroughly Poetic and Thankful Thursday
I am taking advantage of today’s prompt letter for Angel Sammy’s (onespoiledcat) Thoroughly Poetic Thursday to write about our sweet angel Fiona. The prompt letter is “F.”
Forever
Fiona, I felt compelled to find
every “F” word I could to describe
you, and run them all out in a list.
So that is exactly what I’ve done.
You were my favorite (don’t tell the
others). You were fun and funny,
feisty and friendly. You were fair
of face and character. You were
fascinating and faultless, fetching
and faithful, but most of all you
were and are my forever love.
Though you’ve brought us Cooper Murphy,
whom we already adore, he
almost makes me miss you more. I see
his silly and adorable face
and long to have yours in its place. But
I know you and I will never be
apart, because you’ll stay forever
and always in my heart. And I
promise you, my sweetest angel,
to give Cooper a perfect life and home.

For the Thankful Thursday part of this post, Kitties Blue, Dad Tom and I want to thank all of our friends and followers for your love, support and friendship during the year of Fiona’s illness, at the time of her passing and as we have grieved for her. We received so many kind words and condolences through e-mail and blog comments, and we also received many through regular mail.
Included among the cards, is one of Quint Cole’s (Colehaus Cats) gorgeous paintings. The person who gifted us with this asked to remain anonymous. We are no less thankful for this gorgeous creation. I love Quint’s art and already have a substantial collection. This piece will be framed and placed on an easel next to Fiona’s urn.
The small object in the very back is a silver heart from Clooney (Clooney’s Num-Num Fund) for Giulietta. (Fiona, Giulietta and Clooney were very special friends and attended a number of blogville events together.) Engraved upon the heart are the words, “Fiona Forever, Love Clooney.” The heart will be attached to Giulietta’s collar. As I type this I am touched again by this sweet and loving gesture. Clooney, Neytiri and Mom Karyn included a quote as part of the note they wrote. I think you will agree that it is both beautiful and fitting.
“Sometimes when the wind blows, I hear you whisper, ‘My spirit is alive. My soul is free. My love is as near as you need it to be.'” (Author Unknown) I will remember this whenever I think of Fiona.
This post is part of the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Brian’s Home.
Thank you for allowing me, once again, to write about Fiona, the cat who stole my heart.
What a touching, loving poem!
And how nice that so many furends sent cards and gifts. Fiona was special fur sure…and will always be such a special angel, forever in your heart.
You are so very talented with poetry. This is a great tribute to Fiona. What a beauty she was too. Those eyes just draw you in!
What a beautiful poem, and a loving tribute to Fiona. Our hearts ache for you, but we hope you can find some comfort knowing that Fiona had such a wonderful life. Though it was shorter than expected, she knew more love in that time than some kitties know in their long lives. Thinking of you, and sending love.
Sampy sends kisses to Astrid, XOXOXOX
Never stop writing about Fiona Miss Janet. We never tire of hearing about this special little lady with the sweet face.
We love the quote, it is something Mum wishes she had seen before, she still misses Dash. It hits her sometimes, like when she realises her younger brother’s gone too.
Aww, now I’m crying again. What a lovely poem to your beloved Fiona. And how wonderful our blogging community is to surround you with so much love. Big hugs, dear friends.
You wrote a beautiful poem to honor your sweet Fiona. Pet people are a wonderful group and I’m glad you’ve received so much support to help you through such a difficult time.

Dear Janet: I totally related to your poem & your feelings. I went thru the same feelings with the ‘littul Purrince’. As much as I was grateful Nylablue & Mingflower brought Siddhartha Henry into my Life there were times I deeply wanted it to be Nylablue beside. I felt so much guilt for not feeling that for Siddhartha Henry. And then all the sickness & upset with the Vets’; I was ready to just give him back & forget I ever had him.
Then he kissed me one night & that was IT!!! Now I could not be w/out him!!! Go figure…
(((hugs))) Sherri-Ellen <3
