Disclaimer: We received a 40-pound box of Tidy Cats 24/7 Performance litter free of charge from Chewy.com for our fair and honest review as part of their Blogger Outreach Program. We received no monetary compensation and the views expressed are exclusively ours.
If you follow our blog regularly, you know that we have been testing litters to find one that actually performs as advertised and that all the cats like and will use. Thanks to Chewy.com we believe we’ve found it. As part of their Blogger Outreach Program, I selected the Purina Tidy Cats 24/7 Performance clumping litter for multiple cats to test during the month of July.
We received this Tidy Cats formula in a recyclable cardboard box. At 40 pounds, this is not a lightweight litter.
It claims to be formulated specifically to neutralize odors. It maintains that the litter forms tight clumps that lock in moisture and provide triple odor protection for urine, feces and ammonia. And it does just that! Even the urine forms clumps that do not break apart when being scooped. And I was not assaulted by that pungent ammonia odor when scooping.
It also claims to be 99.6 percent dust free. And it is!
Tidy Cats makes a variety of litters and we have tried many different ones throughout the years. Prior to trying the 24/7 Performance variety, we were using the Tidy Cats Scoop Glade Tough Odor Solutions Cat Litter in our three upstairs litter boxes. The listed benefits for this litter are:
- Glade Tough Odor Solutions Clear Springs scent
- Strong clumps; easy clean-up
- Locks in moisture; powerful odor control
- 99.6% dust-free
It does none of those things. Urine does not clump at all. Clouds of dust engulf you when scooping and cover everything in the room. And the ammonia odor will stop you in your tracks when entering the room with the litter box. With this failure in meeting promises and expectations, I wasn’t sure what I would get with this newer Tidy Cats. What I got was 100 percent satisfaction. And the best part…the cats use it!
Finally I have found a litter that both the cats and the humans are happy to use. Thank you Tidy Cats and Chewy.com. This litter will now go into all six of our litter boxes.

We’re glad you found a good litter. The less dust, the better, but we don’t like scented litters. Purrs
Glad you found a litter that works for everyone. We’ve been using Dr. Elsey’s regular or multi-cat and it’s worked well for us. It seems to be very low-dust and has no scent or odor.
Awesome! We’ll have to look into it. We use the Arm & Hammer Super Scoop litter, and we like everything about it except for the dust part. It is pretty dusty. Maybe this Tidy Cats litter is the solution to our problem! Thanks for a great review, furiends!
Sampy sends Astrid a kiss for every grain of litter in the world. We all send lots of love and hugs!
It’s so hard to find a really good litter so I’m so happy that you found one that works for you!
I’m not sure if we have tried this formulation from Tidy Cats yet. We might just have to if it performs as well as you’ve described! Lots of litters make promises, but so few deliver. Thank you for the recommendation! We’re always looking for something that might work better than what we have.
Dust free sounds great. The cheap clay stuff I buy at Walmart is very dusty.
This is great to know! We used to use Tidy Cats but stopped because mommy hated the dust. We’ll have to check this out.
Mee-yow Thiss Tidy Kat litter sounds pawsum! wee uses Fresh Fur Life clumpin litter an it werkss like thee Tidy Kat stuff. LadyMum’ss onlee complaint iss that thee litter tracks furrywhere! Doess Tidy Kat litter do that or doess iss stay inn thee bathroom?

I am glad you have found a litter that everyone likes.
I don’t know how the glade stuff would affect my two sisters with asthma, they seem quite bothered by things like that.
WOW….we’ve never tried Tidy Cats litter………..but we just might now! Thanks for the honest review!
We never liked the previous Tidy Cat versions, so this one sounds promising. Though we’re not fond of scented litters…we’d be interested in knowing how strong the Glade is in this.
We’re glad to hear you found a litter that works for you! We’re sticking with our corn-based litter because the head peep isn’t comfortable with us using clay, but if we did, we’d give this a try, for sure.
My mom wishes I would use litter so she wouldn’t have to take me outside in all kinds of weather! I say, Pshaw! I don’t like little pebbles between my tiny toes!!!
The kitties are not particular with kitty litter, the humans are. The less dust the better. Will check it out when our supply runs out.
I may have to check this out. I have tried numerous litters, too. I was very unhappy with Tidy Cat. I like the dust-free feature, as I have asthma and COPD. We do need the odor control, too. Thanks for this review!
Hope you are doing well. It has been a very hectic summer, and it isn’t over either. Take care of yourself. ~xoxo~
