THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CXVIII

The Elmwood Park Art Walk

Stinky is super anxious for Periwinkle to arrive. Though they are having their adventure a few days early, due to an impending snowstorm, they will be sharing their adventure today as usual. Travel with the teleportation tunnel in bad weather is not a problem, but snow would ruin Stinky’s plans.

Periwinkle tumbles out of the tunnel with the familiar whoosh and immediately grabs Stinky in a huge paw hug. Then she starts talking a mile a minute: “I am so happy to see you. Are you feeling okay? You have been having too many seizures. I worry about you.”

“I’m fine. I have been eating very well and getting my meds, so we don’t know why I have had an increase in seizures, but I am A-OK today and ready for some fun.”

“Me too,” says Periwinkle. “What’s the plan for today?”

“We are going back to the park where we went ice skating, but I have a different plan for us today,” Stinky tells her. He takes her paw and leads her back into the tunnel.

Moments later they arrive at their destination. Periwinkle looks around with an expression of confusion. “What are we going to do here?” she asks.

Stinky explains that they are in The Elmwood Park Art Walk outside the downtown public library.

“Our adventure is looking at art,” says Periwinkle with a look of disappointment.

Climbing the Sculptures

“Well yes, we are going to look at,” says Stinky with a chuckle. He continues, “But only to figure out the best way to climb it.”

“Now that sounds like fun, as long as we don’t get in trouble. I know how much you like to climb. Where do we start?”

“Anywhere you like,” replies Stinky. “And I don’t think we will get in trouble. Everyone loves cute kitties. And I think our presence will enhance these works of art.”

Periwinkle rolls her eyes at Stinky but she looks around, grabs Stinky’s paw and leads him to the closest sculpture.

“Some of these are really hard to climb,” Periwinkle tells Stinky. “I guess we’ll have to help each other.” They do just that and climb each one giggling as they go.

Stinky tells Periwinkle that the sculpture with the white kites is made from plastic bags and the man with all the writing was created by someone his mom knows.

As they climb the final sculpture, Stinky explains that the sculptures are created by different people around the country and are not permanent. The ones they climbed today will be replaced in the future, and they can come back and climb those.

“Did you have a favorite sculpture, Periwinkle?”

“Oh yes, the last one with the star and wings. How about you, Stinky. Did you have a favorite?”

“Yes, the giant flower; though, it was the hardest to climb.”

“It will be fun to come back to see and climb on different sculptures, Stinky,” says Periwinkle.”But next time we might need to bring your mom or dad so they can boost us when we need help. Climbing the sculptures was fun, but I am exhausted. Can we go back to your house for a snack?”

YouTube Video

“Of course, but first I want to post a video from YouTube that will give our readers more information about the Art Walk and sculptures. They’ll even find out about our favorites.”

“That’s great Stinky. Very thoughtful.”

Stinky takes Periwinkle’s paw and leads her back to their teleportation tunnel. Moments after entering, they arrive back at Stinky’s house. Stinky’s mom has warm beverages, Fancy Feast and treats ready for them. As they eat, they visit with Stinky’s fursibs and parents.

When they finish eating, the two tired tabbies curl up together for a nap. When they awake it is time for Periwinkle to return home. The two share lots of whisker kisses and paw hugs before Periwinkle enters the tunnel. With a final wave and a whoosh she is gone. Stinky returns to his nap to dream about their fun adventure and his beautiful girlfriend.
